Warden Mistakenly Listed as Dead

So I finally begun playing "Dragon Age: Inquisition", I've made it through the beginning and I'm currently scouting the area around the Inquisition camp in Haven. I did a few quests, and I got a codex entry about the Fifth Blight...

Saying the Warden died fighting the Archedemon. That's not what happened in my playthrough, and it's not what I inputted into the Keep. The Keep says my Warden is "Alive and Well". That's an enormously important detail, and if the game got even it wrong I don't want to keep playing it until I find out how to fix it. For all other intents, the game followed my Tapestry correctly so far, so it's not that I forgot to upload it or anything.

1. What is the meaning of this bug?

2. How do I resolve this issue?

3. Can I resolve this issue without having to restart the game? Having to do it at this point would be both incredibly disappointing and really kill all the fun and excitment of this first foray into the game.

I've waited for this game for years, and I spent the last several months finishing all the Dragon Age games so far again so that I can start playing in the world I created. If I can't have that, than I wasted my money, time and emotional energy on Dragon Age: Inquisiton.

If your Warden is listed as dead incorrectly, then odds are high that you are playing with a default world state. The only way to fix this is to restart the game and correct w/e prevented the import this time around.

But the keep confirmed my import, and the dates matched. What could've possibly prevented it from taking place?

I dunno, but if the dates matched, I guess further investigation is warranted. So...

1. Who told you that the Warden is dead?
2. What other choices have you noticed properly reflected in game?
3. Have you checked to see what your play through states in the Keep reflect?

1. Nobody told me, it was in a codex entry I recieved after a while of wandering around Haven collecting nugskin (I assumed I'd completed a certain number of quests, since just before that I finished making a couple new daggers).

2. The fate of the Urn of Sacred Ashes, Bhelen rules Orzammar (both from codex entries), Alistair and Anora rule together, Loghain was executed (talking to the quartermaster), pretty much everything Varric said about Hawke and the story of Dragon Age II.

3. I have checked the Keep, it's up to date with the information I inputted, and which the game at one very critical moment apperantly failed to apply.

Anora/Alistair and Loghain executed are default options as I recall. Don't remember default ruler of Orzammar, but my gut says it is Bhalen.

And I said play through states (I really need to remember to explain this everytime I say it). When you play DAI your world state is semi constantly uploaded, this includes your imported choices. You can check what your playthrough states are by going to the playthrough states manages and going one screen right of editable states. You can view major choices by clicking on a state or a choices by copying it over to editable.

To check the worldstate that actually was imported. Just go to worldstates then click the button to playthrough states.

Then click the playthrough ws. If the shield is cracked you got a default if its not cracked there's something wrong in-game.

To echo Kantr above, you can double check your exported world states by following the instructions here: http://forum.bioware...through-states/

Please make sure that when you're exporting your world state that you follow all the steps in our guide, as well: http://forum.bioware...to-inquisition/

I tried following all of your advices today again. I triple-checked my world state on the Keep, I made absolutely certain that it was the right date when I started the game, and as soon as it first saved went over to the Keep to check the playthrough state - and lo and behold, it was the default one, for the fifth time in a row. I'm starting to get seriously angry here. If this issue isn't solved I will return the game and ask for a refund. I bought this game for a great deal of money expecting certain features, and so far I've spent three days watching the same beginning cutscene again and again and again and not getting those features. What am I doing wrong?

Set it for export. Make sure it asks to import and then head to the charatcer creator. Once there, dont quit the game but head to the keep and look at the latest worldstate in the playthrough section. If it still hasnt shown up then something is going wrong and they should hopefully be able to fix it for you

Here's what you need to look out for

If it's showing the non-cracked shield then it's imported correctly and the game should have it right (if not it's bugged) if the shield is cracked then somehow it ignored the worldstate.
