So, why does the Inquisition only hire the weak and sickly ones...?

... well, actually the question is more like: "why are the underlying mechanics of this otherwise great RPG so utterly silly and un-RPG-like?"

I keep killing nameless enemy archers with 1800+ hitpoints. Unnamed enemy warriors with 5000+ hitpoints. And named, yet unimportant mini-bosses with 18000 hitpoints. MY toughest warrior has 945 hitpoints, my archers are around 6-700.

What wasting disease is affecting my party here, please? Why is everyone and their mothers 3-10 times more sturdy than the heroes??? :P

And is it really necessary to exaggerate dragons' hitpoints to 290.000 PLUS guard?

Guys, Firkraag in BG I had 185 (!) hitpoints and the fight was FUN. Bloody tough, very intense, sometimes short and VERY challenging. Killing those effectively 500.000+hp abomination is endless repetition, tedium and boredom. Not to mention them endlessly spawning in mooks from thin air... It feels more like lumberjacking than an actual battle.

All this just to let people rant about evenly silly dps values? Weapons with 5000+ damage attacks? Sigh B)

A rule system for an RPG works a LOT better, and is easier to balance, with numbers NOT covering 5 orders of magnitude.

It takes out poisons, bombs, most potions and all things that otherwise make strategy and tactics. All fights in which they should make a difference are way too long for them to actually do so. Just keep hitting the same buttons for 10 minutes (and, sometimes, MORE)...

When did rinse and repeat become the crowning point of planning and achievement? When did grinding become more valuable than proper tactics or character development? A pity.

And in a real RPG, the rules are the core of the game, and they are fun, and the basis for strategy and tactics, whenever players and enemies play by the SAME set of rules.

This is too little RPG and too much Super Mario...

Otherwise, mostly an astoundingly great game.
