Why only 8 abilities slots ?!

Really, wtf is that ?! I feel like there's no point to leveling up, just picking stupid passives I don't even want. I mean it's so stupid when you think about it, what's the problem of adding a 2nd skill bar which prompts when you like press a certain button and then functions like the primary one, and you can toggle between them so you get 16 effective slot which is good.

Fix please, thanks.

1. Many people suspect because it's controller button limitation

2. Passives skills are among the best in the game, much better than active skills in fact

3. This complaint have been debated since before DAI release, just search around and you'll get many threads talking about it

4. The combat is designed around it, with fixed stamina/mana and many CD reduction abilities

5. This issue only relevant with mage, properly built rogue and warriors didnt need many active skills

I'm a mage though, and I'm level 19 with all of the passives I could ever want that fit my play style.
I randomly pick passive spells now because there's no point in more active skills (even though I would really want some).

Again, it's not a console controller issue because there was no such issues in the other DA's or ME's.

How about a Tempest Rogue Inquisitor?

3 flasks and Mark of the Rift leaves only 4 slots left.  There are more than 4 active abilities throughout the other trees that would be really nice to bring to a fight.

I can almost guarantee that at least PC version will get another quickbar after the patches. Some classes can easily end up with more than 8 active abilities and given how game wants you to use ability combos this just looks like a silly oversight on part of the devs.

As much as I love DA:I and think it's a lock for a ton of GOTY awards, the lack of radial wheel menu baffles me.  I can't understand why they didn't bring it back for the purposes of tactical play.

I feel the same way about my Temptest Rogue, there just aren't enough buttons. That leaves a lot of abilities that look cool that I will never use on my rogue which limits builds, as I feared all along about the no power wheel in the game.

Then swap around your abilities. Create new builds that doesn't depend on flask so you carry fewer of them, leave out focus abilities, etc.

I play a mage. I know that optimal mage must have MOTR, Fade step and Barrier but that doesnt mean i cant swap it with other abilities. Is it less optimal ? Of course, but you asked for build varieties so make them, leave out must have skills and experiment with others.

why would you need more then 8 its not like you have infinite mana, you wont be able to fire spell after spell, this makes it more of strategy planning for me, prepare for your fights.

I would guess it's a mix of the game being on consoles (which i happen to be on) with limited number of buttons and multiplayer. Since they probably had to adjust the combat to multiplayer, where you can't pause and use the radial menu for abilities, they need to limit the amount of abilities to the controller buttons. It's a damn shame for people like me who are on consoles and don't play multiplayer or PC players in general.

As much as I'm a fan of bioware and their games, bioware have a track record for making weird design decisions that create presumably unanticipated issues. The lack of slots causing overflow of skills at high levels is a textbook example of that.

Other examples would be ME3's weight system (made powers virtually impossible to balance), ME2's planet scanning, and DA2's recycled dungeons. Stuff that didn't look right from the start.

Queue multiplayer players complaining that PC users have a competitive advantage in multiplayer, should they do that.

They went with a 2x4 skills setup because that is something that is a well tested approach for gamepad (whether on PC or console) when you want to keep combat fluid without using radial menus. There's no way that PC having exactly the same eight skills is an oversight.

I guess it might happen due to the huge outcry over the shitty keyboard and mouse controls and how the entire UI feels clunky to use on a PC, but I'd be surprised.

I agree actually having it isn't an oversight, but creating a system where you can max out your skill slots regardless of how you build your character definitely was. It feels like they lifted the system direct from Mass Effect, where every character has a maximum of 8 activated skills.

I quite like the ME system, but it should have been expanded to work with DA:I's skill system, not against it.

This is the type of thing that really annoys me. We never had a limitation on how many skills/spells we could set, outside of screen limitation. I play Dragon Age for the story. I usually set it to casual or normal at best. If some players like a challenge, then play with 3 characters. But I don't need Bioware to do remove most of my choices and then tell me I need to use tactics.
