Both my Warden and Inquisitor were/are capable of solo'ing Dragons on their own. The Warden took down the Blackmarsh Dragon and the Varterral on his own, and at this point my Inquisitor has solo'd eight of the ten high dragons in Thedas (soon to be ten). So as far as raw strength, I think Arcane Warrior and Knight Enchanter are about equal in raw, terrifying potential (and actual) power.

My Hawke was a rogue, so he doesn't compare in terms of in-game power.

As far as how I rank them in terms of likability or how attached I am to them? Warden and Inquisitor tie, likely because with both of them I felt like I had far more opportunities to RP and get invested than I did with Hawke. I also feel like the influence of each of them is also enormous in their own ways. The Inquisitor is basically Lord of All Thedas, but all the Warden has to do is walk into a room and I feel like people would defer to his power/authority.

For me:

Hawke  >=  HoF  >>>>>  Herald - after two playthroughs, this character has yet to interest me.

Warden>Inquisitor>Hawke

Hawke's biggest story accomplishment was waking up an ancient magister. He killed a tough Qunari and a lyrium maddened Templar AND corypheus

Fixed.

Inquisitor, Hero of Ferelden, Hawke.. in that order.

If we are talking about power here.  The Inquisitor is immensely powerful but the Warden is no chump either.  XD  Hawke... Hawke is definitely powerful in his/her own way yes... but at that certain part in DA:I.... I definitely was the one carrying the team on my Inquisitor LOL.

Now if you throw Commander Shepard into the mix... well we don't even need to discuss that it's obvious.

Hero of Fereldan. Hands down. He was built like a brick s***house, shrugging off blow after blow. He could wade through a horde of darkspawn like it was water. He could cut through an Archdemon like it was butter. He is the epitome of a God.

Champion of Kirkwall. Second to none. Her gang of miscreants could slay an army of Templars and Mages alike. Nothing could stand in her way; a true powerhouse.

Herald of Andraste. A man of mans. A leader none can match. A true icon. He has walked the Fade where none have walked in a thousand years. He has eviscerated demons and mortals alike as if they were dust in the wind. A king in his own right.

Bioware could have if it was possible to make a multi import in DAI as play as warden, hawke or new character as inquisitor. It wouldn't have made much difference how the story would play out. or maybe just a little

My Warden will always hold a very special place in my heart; she was my first character in the world of Thedas, and I'll always remember her fondly.

I don't know who would be stronger or last longer in battle- I suspect my Warden because she had a LOT of defensive spells which made it hard to kill her, vs my Hawke and Quizzie who focused mostly on offensive spells.

As far as actual power goes... The Inquisitor has the most power because the Inquisition spans two nations (or further) and makes decisions that have serious ramifications upon the world. Nobles and organizations shake with fear when the Inquisition comes a-knocking because that usually means they'll be knocking heads. Plus, the Inquisitor is known as the Herald of Andraste. Hero of Ferelden and Champion of Kirkwall don't even come CLOSE to topping that.

The Warden has the second most power. She is known as the Hero of Ferelden and is in legends and stories throughout Thedas. She should have a great deal of political clout, but her ties to the Wardens give her less of a bite. Although Blackwall's true identity threw everything he said about the Wardens in doubt, one thing was true- the Warden's purpose is not political, nor would they want it to be. She is, however, highly respected by many, many people.

The Champion has the least power of all three, and I suspect the least of any heroes we may encounter in the future. While she is known as the Champion of Kirkwall, her fame is kept mostly to that once city. Her legends have sprung up elsewhere, but she is not a person anyone political wants to admit knowing. Although she's kind of a folk hero, she's also infamous for being friends (or lovers) with Anders, and we all know what he did. Plus she has serious ties to the Mage Rebellion. I'm not sure what the circumstances are if she sided with the Templars, but if you sided with the mages she comes to Skyhold being hunted by the Templars. She's basically a fugitive on the run. Doesn't do much for her at all in the political sense.

Inq = Knight Enchanter

KE = weaker human chantry-orlesianed version of AW

RP wise, Hawke, that girl is the best!

I felt a strong connection to my Warden and thus enjoyed her more. The Inquisitor comes in second.
As for the most powerful?.......It depends what you mean by powerful I suppose.
Both are Elven Mages, both have strong political ties and powerful allies......

How can you expect me to choose my favourite after spending days with them lol.

But I do have to admit, Sarcastic Hawke is a beacon in the dark. I can't wait to see how Sarcastic Hawke is handled in this game.

In terms of enjoying I'll definitely go with (Purple) Hawke > Inquisitor > Warden.

I enjoyed playing the Champion so much, I could almost forgive Bioware for what they did with DA2.

I like my Inquisitor as well, but playing her feels less personal, because of her being a leader of thousands. She has to make her decisions on what's best for whole Thedas, while Hawke was just a local hero, giving her the chance to deal more with her close surroundings.

The Warden is last, because she was no voiced character and therefore felt the most impersonal to play as.

When it comes to power, I choose my Inquisitor, simply because she is a mage and the other two were two-handed rogues.

The power really depends on how you play them, which specialisation you took etc..

If you sided with the Templars, they used red lyrium and tried to kill Hawke even after helping them. In other words, the templars are ungrateful SOB's and siding with the mages makes the most sense in DA2.

Hawk was more realistic. I mean the warden could be a dalish elf and ends up becoming the most amazing warrior. The inquisitor is pretty strange too. The strongest and best warrior would probably be the qunari who is able to kill dragons and other crazy things.

Personally I really enjoyed Hawke (Female), loved the whitty responses plus that voice actress made being a badass mage so sexy. Hawke is a great character, my favorite of the 3 (followed by the Inquisitor and then the Warden), I was very disappointed when DA2 announced that you would only be able to play as a human, but by the end of act 1 I was really drawn to her, plus, I don't know, companions felt more like actual friends in part 2, as opposed to 1 & 3 where it's more like brothers & sisters in arms, but I guess that's more because of the circumnstances than the writing itself (in 1 & 3 you're engaged in actual war, in 2 you're just trying to get by in a really bad town). BTW, Did anyone else feel a HUGE letdown when Leliana sets off to contact the Hero of Ferelden but then only shows up with a note and a belt :(.

Well, my Warden could control the perception of time so in terms of raw power there is no contest.

enjoyed them in this order Inquisitor = HoF > Hawke, because  more customization possibilities. Nethertheless Hawke was a cool character.

I theory i consider anyone of them equally powerful, since it purely depends on the player's choices who has which skills and abilities, race, gender, class etc.

My Hawke is considerably more combat capable than the other two.  He's basically the incarnation of violent death.  He's also the most relatable, to me, which made his story considerably more enjoyable.  Finally, his cast of companions contain my most and least favorite, so that keeps things interesting.

The Warden was actually pretty boring and I never really felt like they were all that powerful, personally.  Politically, sure, being the Hero of Ferelden gives them some clout, but then they're either dead or they step down and run off, so it's not like they ever get a chance to use that political power before it's gone.  I can appreciate DA:O for getting me into the setting, but all I can say is 'Thank god for the Keep' so I never have to play it again.  It doesn't help that as the writers refine the setting, more and more of the little details from DA:O are retconned or handwaved.  It gets less relevant to the franchise with each passing year.

The Inquisitor is not as bad as the Warden, thankfully, but still not as engaging as Hawke, and I never really felt like a death dealing machine. Also I feel like the story is 'just ok'.

Spoiler

Simple thing... I played Origins 1000 Times, DA:2 ..maybe 2 times...and Inquisition will be like origins...

so Cousland -> Inquisitor ->>>>>>>>>>>>> Hawke .... ( I really didn't liked DA:2)

and...Origins still gives me shivers...with everything...and Morrigan in this game... <3

Favorite? I don't think I have one. It's really become a love for the universe, especially my canon.

Combat wise? I had most DA:O playthroughs. Not sure if it was the exploitable game mechanics or just familiarity with the game, but combat wise by mid-game I felt overpowered and by Awakening I felt like prime Michael Jordan in a kindergarten playground pickup game on Nightmare. Maybe I'll get there with the Inquisitor, we'll see.  :)

I consider the Hero of Ferelden to be the most powerful in combat.

I enjoyed the champion more because he felt like the ringleader of a gang of buddies.

The inquisitor seems more of a figurehead of a powerful organisation.

Totally agree, maybe adding that Hawke's personal story was the most intriguing.

Agree with this too. At this point, I still have the strongest connection to the original DA:O companions.
