No, Hawke didn't and Cory survived.
No, Cory didn't survive. It's not even ambiguous. They outright state in DA:I that Hawke killed Cory.

Spoiler
Outright stated by whom?
Larius. You remember the look on his face at the end. Very suspicious. I always thought maybe C'pheus pulled a swifty. ![]()
I think it would be warden Cousland. She's my favorite badass and the most powerful woman I've ever played. Seriously, ending the blight for what, how long, 1 year? That should be something, like a living legend. But I always get sad when I think of Hawk. So yeah, I would be like HOF>>>Hawk>Inquisitor.
The Hero of Ferelden.
Because he can dual wield Long Swords like a boss!
Daggers? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffftttttt.
...
Seriously though, I like Hero of Ferelden the most most. He has this... mythical quality to him that's difficult to describe. The kind that the Inquisitor him/herslef would quickly defer to if Hero of Ferelden chose to join the Inquisition.
....
But guys, really, dual-wielding Long Swords. One of them can be a METEOR sword, even!

As someone who love dual-wield warriors, I approve this message.
Well, my Hero of Ferelden is dead, so that leaves the Inquisitor and Hawke to compete...
Except now Hawke is dead too, so I guess that makes my Inquisitor the last man standing for the title of strongest...
That makes me depressed really, my Warden is rolling in his grave right now.
I would go with Hero of Fereldan>Inquisitor>Hawke in my fav range and in combat experience as well as a Dwarven Prince is suppose to be well trained to survive assassinations over a Qunari merc Inquisitor
My warden is easily my favorite and most powerful Character out of the series. I mean he is the warden commander, a Two handed Berserker, Spirit Warrior, Champion, plus he is married to Morrigan, has a god baby, and is over all just a bad ass. After him though I do like the inquisitor hawke ........he's ok but I couldn't take the "gibs" of DA2's combat seriously and thus even though aparantly hawke sneezes and people explode into chunks he is unknown as I played varics story of him and not the actual hawke.
Btw we need to bring back Spirit Warrior and berserker as specializations thank you.
My Warden is still my favorite character...and I feel a little bothered by her absence in the events of DAI. Big bad Darkspawn are trying to end the world and she's off ****** in a corner or something. ![]()
It's absolutely heartbreaking hearing Liliana talk about how she misses The Warden...and I can't do anything about it. ![]()
Mr. Irrelevant showing up only adds insult to injury...
I'd have grown more attached to the inquisitor if her companions were more interesting. I can't seem to like any of them other than Cassandra and Varric.
HoF > Inquisitor > Hawke
My Warden is easily the baddest mofo in my canon world state.
Hawke > Warden >>> Inquisitor
Herald of Andraste shits on both the warden and Hawke's lame ass combined. They have nothing on him. He killed more dragons than both of them, proves to be way more competent by playing in politics of several nations, builds up and secures lands across Thedas, and kills someone that was literally unkillable. The warden killed the archdemon thanks to the badassery of another more seasoned warden. Hawke was basically meant to be a failure by writer design.
The Inquisitor however, is practically Moses, Jesus, Alexander the Great and Constantine rolled all into one. Practically creating a new world order. No one has anything on him. No one.

So, what now? If Hawke survives adamant, the epilogue states Hawke wereabouts are unknown ever since they reached Weisshaupt. While if the HoF is alive, the warden is currently on an quest to find a cure for the calling. Now their personal storyline is more open then ever. Anyone wonders what's next for both of them?
...All walk into a pub..
Because there are more dragons in DAI...and also Thousand Cuts....Also pretty sure your advisors do most of the work with politics, you're just a figurehead.
I'm a warrior, rogues blow. And anyway, obviously that's the gameplay reason, but it still counts on the resume. As for your advisors, they advise. I've been doing all the work, deciding what we need to do and how we're going to do it. They just obey. Herald of Andraste really does make the Warden and Hawke especially seem pathetic.

Just pointing out that there's a skill in the game that can bring any Dragon from 100% to like >25% in one go.
And who command the Inquisition army? The Inquisition agents? The diplomats? You might command them, but you don't have their skills. And why do they obey your command? Cuz you're the only one who can close the Breach, have the Mark, and the so called "Herald of Andraste." You don't really do "works" that the Advisors do, just look at Cullen, are you as busy as him that you barely have time to breathe? Or Leliana who cannot leave her post or her Agents will be blind in the field? You go out there and fight, but the Warden and Hawke does that too.
My Natalie Lavellan is definitely the OC that I am most attached to, for many reasons. I felt like her personality was the most deeply crafted, whereas the Warden was silent and difficult to set a specific personality to and the Diplomatic/Sarcastic/Aggressive options were too rigid and extreme for my Hawke to have a more complex personality. My Lavellan was definitely not a leader at the start of the story but by the end became a leader and symbol of hope for Thedas; which I really connected to because I've never been a natural leader type of person...
Not only that, but my Inquisitor is the first OC I've ever made that actually looks like me and has my features. It's actually boosted my self esteem and I just get so happy when I look at her and her beautiful olive skin and dark hair~ being able to play as a protagonist that looks similar to me on such a personal journey means a lot more than many would think.
With that being said, I love my Marian Hawke to bits. I actually really love DA2 and I connected to my Hawke a lot more than to my Warden. I kind of forget my Surana Warden sometimes, tbh. I probably would if she wasn't a Circle mage, since it's an origin that has really affected my ideas and views on certain topics in the DA world.
Most powerful: Warden, Inquisitor, Hawke.

So what, doesn't that just highlight how much better the inquisitor is than the other heroes.
And you can't do everything, but you already prove that you're as competent if not moreso by clearing out all these territories and establishing bases, cleaning up areas that were total **** before and making life better one place at a time, yourself, on the ground. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure the wartables, and the little squabbles the advisers regularly have shows they're one, dysfunctional without your leadership and two, too single minded to look at scenarios outside of their specialties. Leliana always looks for her stupid secrets and espionage to solve a problem, Cullen generally recommends force, and usually Josephine recommends diplomacy, all to a fault. You have to decide for them which course of action is the right one, because without you, they're like big children, as demonstrated after Haven.
Look, you can try and downplay it all you want, but you and I both know that it's only because you're fond of the warden and or Hawke. Which is fine, but on his worst day, the Herald influences and accomplishes more than both of them. It's embarrassing.
