Meh that's not what makes me feel he's not a romance.

You get him an act later than everyone else.

He has no comforting you after Leandra scene (Freaking Aveline gets one)

You can't dare flirt with anyone before him.

Stuff like that.

Seb...was my excuse for a few more quests and to get my hand-me-down bows from my rogue archer characters.   :P

Seb existed about as much as Gend did for me, outside of his outburst at the end.   Which is to say, not much.  And yes, I had to look up Gend's name in the NWN wiki.  He was that forgettable.  Ugh, give me a character that I don't like versus one that I'm apathetic about.

I think the whole act 2 thing really hurt Seb. By then most people had their parties and people they preferred. A lot of us don't want to drop someone from the team for the newbie :X

 He was cute but yeah just a pretty wallflower. Then he almost gets some steel in his spine in the ending. *sigh*

And now he's taking it out on my Inquisitor because I'm trying to talk him out of trying to storm Kirkwall again.  Why is it he only got interesting when he isn't visible on screen?

Wait, don't answer that... :P

NO, I do NOT Want more tragedy in my romances!  Stop wishing that on us female 'mancers!  Two wrongs don't make a right!  What needs to happen is that BioWare needs to stop sabotaging the romances altogether!  Not make more romances that end in sabotage!

As a man, I am proud to say I like my happy endings!    I can definitely see the frustration on the ladies' side though.  Don't make it balanced by screwing over the gents though.  That is not kosher!

I was mentioning the romances that had something big n' bad happen.  For male and female.  Notice there aren't any for males :)  I never said all of the female romances were bad, just that several of them knock the wind out of you, whereas that doesn't really happen for the male romances.

Try romancing Morrigan or Liara. You need to buy Witch Hunt and Lair of the Shadow Broker to get happy endings. :P

. Asari are basically a race designed for male players. Some women like to play their FemShepards with Liara, but Asari are no doubt female (monogendered is bull***), so also not applicable for women that play as straight women in DA.

Monogendered means a single gender, not genderless. The prefix mono means single or one.

So the Asari have one gender and that gender is female.

Sebastian is a romance choice for straight women only (the only one gated by gender in DA2,) but he doesn't count towards the achievement (possibly due to him being a DLC character.) He also has no FTB scene, so there is some debate about whether or not it was a "full" romance.

Pretty much what Natashina said. Personal dislike aside he lacks many things that other four romances give. Contrary to what people are saying he isnt a real romance, more like a fling with promises to continue.

Yeah, sorry about the mistake. I like Asari to be honest, but the existence of an entire race of promiscuous blue women is rather funny for me so I usually joke about them. No malice intended to Asari lovers.

None taken by this Asari fan.  I played the games for the first time earlier this year, and I couldn't help some of the Captain Kirk jokes that I occasionally made while romancing Liara with my first (female) Shepard.   :P

I'm probably going to shamelessly promote one of my favorite artists on Deviant art but whenever I think of Asari I always remember this:

The meme is huge, so scroll down to #31.
Would be good to have an alternative for us ladies. :D

Just another supermodel painted blue.  The straight dude options in ME always sort of struck as coming with an unspoken but heavily implied implication.  Men can't be trusted with non-humanoid romances.  We got actual aliens -- the men got supermodels painted blue.  (Yes, Femshep*Garrus is cannon as far as I'm concerned.)

Sort of a paternalistic air to the fact that straight dude romances rarely deviate from a certain type.  It bothers me to think that Bioware doesn't think dudes could handle a Garrus.  It bothers me more to consider the idea that they might be right.

There isn't a happy ending in the world I'd trade all my options for.  I wish dudes got a Garrus, not that Garrus was a supermodel painted blue.

It is sad where all this... lets stitch the guys up mentality comes from.

But having said that what about Tali???  And to be honest I think the female Turian in the Omega DLC would be cool to romance... better than most of the ladies in DAI (which is not to say I don't think Cassandra is great character, just not a great LI).

However, there is one thing we should remember (and I'll probably get shot for saying this), but there is a difference between male and female attraction.  I'm not saying its right or wrong but for guys physical beauty tends to be more important than it is for women, whereas things like social status have little to no effect on attraction.  For games companies not to recognise that seems to be silly or an attempt to pander to ideologies that don't want to recognise this.

In the end what's wrong with giving the guys a blue supermodel!  (although I think that's a rather simplistic view of the Asari)

Blackwall didn't order an attack knowing that children were there, Celene-style. He thought only the target would be in the house, but that wasn't the case, and being a good soldier he takes the blame for what happened as a consequence of his orders.

I'm not saying that the family was not still killed, but the fact that he didn't know about it does affect the characterization.

For all the talk about "the most romance options we've ever done", this game feels more limited than any Bioware game in terms of love affairs.

Tali was a blue supermodel in a mask.

And there's nothing wrong with it.  I just would never expect the blue supermodels to have the sort of earth shattering import as the somewhat more rounded male characters.

I don't bemoan your lack of straight dude alien options on my account.  I'm perfectly happy as a straight chick with my world of options and wildly varied men, a good number of which have earth shattering import to the story.  I just think that you are not the blueprint for straight dude sexuality, and some of your cohort would probably love to join us ladies in the free love parade, if only someone would let them.

I got an explanation for that.  It's because BioWare opted to try and appeal to every sexuality under the sun, instead of just making romances for male characters and female characters.  I believe it was Confucious who said

The hunter who chases after two hares will catch neither.

Playersexuality worked fine before. Best of ALL worlds. A net wide enough to catch ALL hares.

I really don't know where to go with the Tali comment... is every women with a well shaped body a supermodel (you know excluding the three fingers and toes thing).

I don't think being a blue supermodel need have any impact on how rounded a character you have... in fact I think the Asari are much more rounded than the 'male stereotype' of the Krogan.

Now that's a sentence I never thought I'd write :)

I'd really rather not have this turn into an argument of who has the better romance, or what characters are hottest or anything like that :)  Just a few less gut punches for the ladies, please!

Ah great. Tons of spoilers about Solas.... *sigh*
Should have stayed away from BSN until finishing the game. :(

It happens. I mostly read the board on mobile devices and scroll slowly, so if somebody goes all spoilery I won't see so much if it.

Tali, isn't known to be a supermodel at the time you romance her. OK, that ME3 picture, yeah, but you see that after signing on for the romance, not before.

Her figure looks good, but also alien. Note the lower legs.

Did you finish the Tali romance?  They photoshopped an actual photo of an actual supermodel.  That's practically the joke.

You know I completely agree with you.  Playing the entire Dragon Age series taught me that apparently I pick the wrong guys.  Luckily this seems to be only in games and not in real life.

I played DA2 and DA3 with my little sister watching much of the time.  She thought Cullen is hot and nagged for me to pick Cullen, but I went with Solas instead, because something about his serious air just drew me plus my fiancé said about Cullen: "That book is ALLLLL cover" lol.  And... well...

After my first playthrough I had a big-sister life-lesson moment with my little sis.  I told her that if her instincts draw her to someone like Cullen, then that instinct will serve her well in life.  My instincts draw me to someone mysterious and full-of-drama like Solas (and Anders in DA2), so I told her to never make the mistakes I made.  I told her she needs to go for the good, honest, straightforward, LOW DRAMA guy, even if he seems boring in comparison.

See because someone like Solas and Anders will choose his Great Cause over you every time.  Yeah he loves you and all but ultimately he loves his Cause more.  Ambition and sense of responsibility are very important, of course, but to actually have a life together, you need a man who, when his back is against the wall, will choose you over everything else.

Fenris and Cullen are that kind of man. Solas and Anders are not.

Yep. But to see that pic you have to either complete the romance or be looking for spoilers. I don't see how it sells you on doing the romance.

It worked fine except for the people who hated the concept, of course. I recall there being rather a lot of them.

Huh? More limited than DA:O? Than ME1? Than KotOR? Than NWN?
