If you're playing the PC version of the game and haven't experienced any particular 100% show-stopper bugs/crashes, my recommendation is NOT to download today's (12/9/14) patch. It utterly ruins the graphics for most, if not all PC installs, and especially obvious if you were running on High or Ultra settings before.

 

Known issues: Plastic shiny hair. All facial features such as freckles and scars are gone; female characters' make-up will often just disappear. Outside textures, such as the lovely ice are now just flat. Even the grass doesn't look right anymore.

 

There is, at the present time, no fix that I know of or can find.

The patch is available for Xbox 360.  That is a Microsoft platform.  The only platform the patch is not currently available for is Xbox One.

I wish they mentioned which files were changed, by reverting them back to pre-patch files we may be able to fix the texture issues.

From what I've been reading about this, there are a slew of fixes, but several issues that come from this patch as well.

When we get to January and it's time for another "Patch today!" thread, I anticipate feelings of dread.

Anyway, they're working on a hot fix now, which they hope to release "soon" (hopefully by the weekend, though they've not indicated any timeframe).

If it fixes the crash after starting (where you have to change the cpu affinity to be able to play the game every time) it's worth it.

They already did.

And BioWare is working on a hot fix (to be released ASAP) and has already issued an official workaround.
