I went with Dorian to talk to his father but we ended up leaving. Still got the alternate card.

No  Solas happy ? (Or at least romanced) ;)

You can only get the "happy" Solas card if you romance him. And it'll change after the Arbor Wilds quest.

He does actually have a Qunari "Name" - was it "Hissrad"? I think it was "Hissrad".

Ultimately, however, that is simply his job. Is that the essence of who he his? I rather like "the Iron Bull". For starters, it's got an article in it. Chose it himself, doncha know.

can you help me confirm this:

In general:

  • Non-romancable characters has 3 cards: normal card you start with, two variations based on your choice (need confirmation)
  • Romancable characters has 4 cards: normal card you start with, two variations based on your choice and an additional romance card if you romance the character (need confirmation).

It is not "just his Job". It is his Role. In the Qun, it is his Purpose. His Destiny.

Without it, he is aimless.

So Dorian only have 1 alternative card (no matter how his personal quest turn out), and 1 romance card?

In general, that is true. But there are exceptions.

Vivienne, for instance, has two different cards she can change into depending on how you complete her personal quest. However, she also has an alternate card depending on the game's ending.

Varric's card changes when his personal quest is unlocked, and then changes into another after it's finished regardless of choice.

And various others.

It is not "just his Job". It is his Role. In the Qun, it is his Purpose. His Destiny.

Without it, he is aimless.

Many people lack aim. But is it who he really is? Perhaps it's who he was. Perhaps he'll be something new. Perhaps he will, as you say, just be aimless.

I'm romance Solas now and his card doesn't change. the card change after Arbor Wilds is story based (like Varric's card change after Warden quest) right? So... If Solas card change after Arbor Wilds, will his card change back to happy Solas if player romance him (like Varric's card change to happy after you finish his personal quest)?

I was straight-up wrong about Solas and Cassandra's cards changing by the end of the game, it seems. Sorry! Here are some other people's cards, though:

After Solas's card changes, it will not be able to change back for certain reasons.

I wouldn't worry too hard about this. If you're romancing him and talking to him, you should be able to get enough approval to progress through his romance before the end of the game.

How did you get that Iron Bull's card?

I viewed Bull's identity issues as being somewhat analogous, on a certain level, to what goes on in Blackwall's story - like that line about "we are who we want to be" (well, it was something I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere along the way...). Bull takes on this persona as a charismatic mercenary, and I think that at this point, maybe it's who he wants to be, yet he's also conflicted over his loyalty to the qunari/the Qun. Although he can live with either outcome, I preferred to encourage his sense of identity as a distinct individual (also, I like the Chargers - heh).

Romance. It may be a little weird to tell with the artstyle, but he's kissing a hand. Also tied with a romance necklace thing.

Love the symbolism in these things.

Thanks, I guess being with the Inquisitor will allow him to get over the struggle with his personal story. I'll try to do that with my male dwarf inquisitor next.

Yeah, if you look at Blackwall's romance tarot, there's something similar there. The female Inquisitor has her hand (with the anchor) over his heart (also, the card's hot for anyone who cares about that *cough*). There's a specific line in the romance dialogue with Blackwall about him being a man with his heart laid bare at a critical point, and I think the card is symbolic of that, probably like Bull's card appears to reference the story he tells about the significance behind the dragon's tooth necklaces.

Dorian's got the hand thing going on in it also. Blackwall's card is my favourite, though, especially considering what you do to unlock it.

Hehe, as someone who romanced Blackwall...yes, it sure is my favorite!

I did like Dorian's romance card as well after getting a look at it. Honestly, the creepy snake on Dorian's normal card kind of made me think I had somehow messed up his personal quest at first (I got them to reconcile, or to at least take steps towards reconciliation). Was relieved to later find out that it's perfectly normal and that things were a-okay despite that creepy snake, lol.

Dorian's romance card still has the snake on it, though it's more subtle and no longer looks like it's about to try and bite his head off. If I had to guess, it's a symbol for Tevinter. Black and likely poisonous, but always part of Dorian and wrapped around him. That he's in white is probably a nod to the whole pariah thing, also "reformer".

Or maybe I just read too much into things. You decide!

@lavaeolus: Makes sense to me - and at east the snake looks less creepy in Dorian's romance tarot. I think it has to do the with eyes seeming a bit more sinister in the non-romanced Dorian card, plus the fact that - as you said - it looks like it's trying to bite his head off in that version, hehe.

I'm totally romancing Dorian on my next play through. Solas romance is a let down. Just finished Temple of Mythal and went to Crestwood with Solas, and it's such a let down! I was like, "what the hell?!" I don't get to see hot polygon sex?! Serious?!

Eh....

Didn't see it mentioned but you can get Sera's without killing the noble if you have the Nobility inquisition perk. She actually prefers it that way after you tell her he's basically now your slave.
