Oh dear.
They fixed this problem on low mesh quality, and transferred it to Ultra instead?
Not cool. I hope there's a hotfix.
Hrrm.
Is there any way to opt out of patching, in this case? This is the first game I've ever played on Origin, and I know that when you put it in offline mode, it doesn't stay that way on restart.
Not only Ultra - High too. It's horrible, give me my hair back!
Seriously, how to fix that?
The hair stays shiny and metallic looking for me, no matter what setting I put it on, pretty awesome. ![]()
Screenshot?
Ugh, the shininess... it blinds.....
But seriously, this is horrible! It's like they never bothered to even test their own patch before releasing it.
what Mesh on high = shiny? ![]()
A screenshot from someone who's able would be highly appreciated. I can't verify myself for another 8 hours or so. Apparently, per another thread, the complexion sliders got borked too - I really hope that doesn't carry over into created characters.
Cancelled my updating of the game. Although I do have it installed on two computers so maybe I'll update on the other and see if I get shiny hair.
The hair, so ugly now. Please fix. I almost can't stand to look at my character.
I am not loving the new environmental effects either. To much, hazy glow, like it's a high smog day in China.

Kantr,
Can you still play the game if you cancel the patch while it's in progress?
Thanks!
Looks like they took the Blizzard approach to patching with the hair. Something is terrible? Make everything that's currently better worse to make it seem better by comparison!

I'll check now. I got it fully downloaded but had to agree to installing C++ distributable so thats when i said no.
It's not just the hair that looks horrible now..
It seems like the new patch forced many of the graphical settings in the game into low quality, since the game now looks horrible on ultra (grass, trees, surroundings, hair etc).
There are several before/after screens in the patch thread as well if anyone wants to see the difference... Broken game now basically.

Origin -> Application Settings -> uncheck "Automatically keep my games up to date".

Sure, this is on high:

Also, the "contextual" hud disabling doesn't seem to work, or it did at first, then I returned to haven and it started to work as the old one...always off does remove all UI stuff though, but isn't as useful.
Ultra vs Low + my beard is gone
Kektastic Bombastic.
Yeah everything looks awful now....... :-/
And I have the feeling motion blur got worse when rotating camera?
BioWare patches:
I'd be more annoyed, but thankfully I'm going on holiday for two weeks tomorrow, so hopefully it'll be fixed by then.
Ultra vs Low + my beard is gone
How do I know you are not on ultra on both and why do we see the back of the one you say is low?
