Bump for great justice.

You guys have made some great points that I hadn't even considered before.

As a person with a disability, I will gladly bump this thread.

Did they implement a way to turn voicechat off with the patch?  I won't touch multiplayer until they do.

They implemented push to talk functionality in the last patch. It's slightly buggy at times but so far it's been working for me; other people will no longer have you to listen to you hum Celine Dion to yourself. This is of course, a purely hypothetical scenario, used only for illustrative purposes. You can also mute others if you wish.

None of this makes having no text chat in a 2014 multiplayer game any less asinine though. It boggles the mind. If they are worried about general idiocy and toolbaggery in chat, then simply introduce an ignore function for players to use. Simple.

Thanks!  So I'd still have to mute every single person at the beginning of a match.  Idiotic.

There is no excuse for not having text chat.  Oh, other than the console companies basically bribing them to make the game at all.

And here I was hoping that multiplayer would be as fun as Warframe.  I find it strange that I, a female player who is into RPGs, likes that game far better than this one.  It's all in the presentation, BioWare.

Outside of certain aesthetics (wiggly menus causing simulation sickness) and balance choices (super heavy grind factor), Digital Extremes has done a VERY GOOD job with the development on Warframe. They push patches and hot fixes a rate that would make the Microsoft Windows security team jealous. Far better than most AAA studios do these days with far bigger budgets.

Push-To-Talk, Text chat, double key-binds for just about every bloody command, lots of accessibility options (still waiting on Color Blind and Flat UI modes), FOV control, individual sliders for most sound aspects. It makes BioWare's "made for PC games by PC gamers" an outright lie on this game.

Bioware's "PC" devs mainly played the PC version with a Controller during testing for the Maker's sake. Who does this as a PC gamer? At times I feel like I'm playing some's personal project over on Project Spark (a game for making games).

Sadly I personally can no longer enjoy Warframe because of said wiggly menus, despite having been in since closed beta.

I agree but you have to remember that warframe has been around a long time. the game sucked during the first month it was out. It took DE a long time to fix a lot of issues and add more content. Hopefully BW will follow suit and fix issues with this game as well as expanding content

Kinda disagree, in substance. Warframe has been an ongoing in development game. Basically players are playing and testing and giving feedback during development. Bioware did not open Dragon Age Inquisition up to the same mass scrutiny during its 2 year development. Warframe started public development in October 2012, a little over 2 years ago. DAI was tweeted to be in development in May 2011, with announced "in development" in September 2012.

They have been around for just about as long. Going from where Warframe started in Beta to now you can see a far more improved and stable experience, and they're still patching/fixing the thing almost weekly. Technically Warframe is still not a "Launched" game (on PC anyways).

Imagine if Bioware had opened up DAMP and some of the other SP mechanics (like tactical mode) to Close/Open public beta testing on PC in 2012, at the same time Digital Extremes did with Warframe.

Bioware is now playing catch-up on their development bugs/choices, and without the refined patching process that DE has established over two years. A process that lets them handle 3 different versions of their game (PC, PS4, and XB1).

Personally I still think DE has more blundered into the success of Warframe than through any sort of amazing vision, the hints of what soured the prior games hangs around like a miasma. They are defiantly a better Art house than a game mechanics shop. However they blundered (with the help of lots of player feedback) into something that actual works (when its menu wiggles don't make me want to throw up).

[post about DE and Warframe]

I'm so sorry that you have the "wiggles" problem.  Are you talking about screen shake?  Because I think they recently added an option to turn that off.

The new maps that they added with Archwing are gorgeous.

In any case, thanks for filling me in on the voicechat thing.  Now that there's a push to talk, there is far less distracting chatter than before and I think I might even be able to play it.  But I want to type to my party!!!

On another note, I can't seem to find cloth anywhere, and I'm only really playing to get Abela-- er, the Arcane Warrior.  :(

I'm talking about the Mods screen when putting Mods on equipment, or even viewing mods. All the UI elements in the Liset warp to follow the mouse (making them move). On top of that the mod icons themselves rotate to face the mouse cursor on top of rest of the UI moving. Its about every flavor of wrong UI design I can think of. And here is why for people who don't have this issue (aimed especially at UI developers). They had HUD wiggle back when the new HUD (and the new UI developer came on board), and the community screamed very quick for a button to turn it off (which DE did). As far as I am aware they have not put in such a button to disable all the wiggle in the Liset UIs.

I can played (can play) the Shooting part of Warframe fine (with the HUD wiggle turned off), but when the Liset was added and they updated the Arsenal screen it became too much.

Yes, many people have complained about the UI.  I just hate how many clicks it takes to get to something.  Kind of like... this game!  Consolization FTL.

I really hate how consoles drag down and hold back the video game industry because of their sh*tty hardware limitations.

A) They probably should have but EA is paranoid about people stealing their IP

B )It's only beta in name only, in every meaningful way its a launched game

C) Everyone reaches success that way. Oh sure some people claim to reach success through their vision, but hindsight is 20/20.
In the video game industry we have a saying about reaching success: "fail faster" (see video below)

I've referred to that Extra Credit before on this forum thank you much. And the point remains, Warframe and DAI have been in development for roughly the same amount of time, with not quite equivalent launch dates (if we work from the console launch of Warframe as the "launched" point). DE is "failing faster" (on everything but the UI and RNG elements at this point), BioWare is not. DE began development with PC in mind and ported to console and benefit (again with everything but the UI) from it. BioWare has evidently been building in lockstep across all platforms and giving PC features a tertiary concern, and has not benefited.

As an example they may have missed "solutions" that would have improved even the console play. Such as my suggestion to expand the voice game system.

A realistic appraisal that you can "fail faster" and recover faster without an extra 3rd party Certification process.

It really is silly that a platform that is superior in every single way is treated the same because 'it wouldn't be fair to console users'.

Its like having Usain Bolt race a 300lb man but being told that he is only allowed to run while wearing a 100lb suit of plate armor so its fair. Its just ridiculous. PC users should be able to have the full potential of their hardware available to them rather than dumbed down potatobox editions of games copy/pasted. I really wish bioware games had text chat, mod support and standard PC features like a FoV slider, dedicated servers and a server browser.

I have paid well over £2000 for my PC and im being served up the same meal as someone who has a plug and play box with outdated hardware.

/rant. Bioware add text chat pls.

Hey Bioware, can we please get text chat?

At least have the courtesy to tell us to our faces why you have ignored people asking for text chat for years in ME3 and now DA:I.

There must surely be a reason, right?

I agree. This is also how I view tablets and smartphones who have had an impact on how Win8 has been formed. Which is something I despise. Because of a huge increase in computerusers etc. Microsoft have decided to make the most dumbed down version. Thank god you can fix it so that it goes back to normal.

I do own a PS4 though.

Sarcasm mode engaged: I'm so pleased that Bioware cares so much about their PC community. The community that has, you know, supported them since Baldur's Gate.
