Maura: "What?"

 

Cole: "Robes of an apprentice cling to the body a familiar figure dead on the ground. I know him. His lover tranquil because of me."

 

Maura: .....

 

Cole: "Thought I was helping she was going to hurt him, kill him I had to help him, didn't matter he's dead now my fault."

 

Maura: "Cole..."

 

Cole: "Should have gone sooner should have kept quite, no wanted to deal in the secrets to be able to help."

 

Maura: "How did you...?"

 

Cole: "Fellow mages shun me now. Don't care, most nights his face keeping me awake. Why? Why do it? She wanted you dead I only wanted to help."

 

Maura: "Cole please stop."

 

Cole: "I'm sorry. Do you want to forget?"

Maura: "No, I need to remember that mistake so I don't make it again."

Cole: "He would have died anyway."

Maura: "I know."

 

 

Not exactly what was asked for the OP but I think Maura would be interject a little bit while he's reading her. This was actually pretty fun when I come up with things for my other Inquisitors I'd love to post them on here again

I recently started a fresh play through with my elf mage who is romancing Bull.

After hearing some of Cole's more amusing banter in game I came up with something specific to my new Inquisitor. As well as some responses because there's no way this Inquisitor would stay quiet about Cole's reads.

Given this is Bull we're talking about, a fair warning this is a bit NSFW.
I'll be putting it in spoiler tags just in case.

"He is Arvaarad. It is his duty to bind and control you. He makes you submit. Soft leather tied around your wrists, digging deeply into your flesh, fastened tightly to the bed post. More wrapped around your mouth and eyes, they muzzle and blind you. 'That'll stop you from using your magic.' It doesn't, but you play along. Part of you feels guilty for enjoying it so much, but that only excites you further."

"Cole!"

"You like the hurt! Especially the part when he grabs your ankle and - "

"COLE!!"

"... Is something wrong?"

"YES! ... *sigh* I mean, ... that's just not something you should be discussing, ... out loud, ... in public."

"I ... I'm sorry."

"That's ... fine. Really, just try to be more careful about it."

"It's hard. You're thinking about it even now. It's very loud."

There's only one major event in my Mage's life that I would see effecting Cole's reading of him. I originally was just going to do a short explanation here, and delete the little story interpreting how I'd imagine Cole reading it, but I'm just going to put it in spoiler tags, and at the end explain the story in a sentence or 2 or maybe another paragraph!

"He sits against the wall, cradling her in his arms. No sound is heard, except for the crackling of the camp fire as they stare into each others eyes. He wonders if he arrived sooner, could he have prevented it. Parried the sword that bit deep into her with his Staff. Or with his own body in the blades path.

 

It is silent now, save for the crackling of the camp fire, and their breathing as they look into each others eyes.

 

Her breathing weakens, as does her grip of his hands. Don't leave me He says, tears forming in the corner of his eyes. There is only one thing she asks of him. A promise. A promise that when she is gone, he is to mourn her loss, and then move on. Don't anchor yourself in life She says, when there is so much more you've yet experienced. I promise He Says, as the last breath she takes escapes her. And then nothing.

 

It is silent now, save for the crackling of the camp fire and the crying of a young man who hugs the woman he loved.

 

He mourns her for a long time. Days turns to months, as months turn to years. Then as a new days sunlight creeps over him, stirring him from sleep, the warmth of the sun washes over him. He has stopped mourning, and while not fully whole, is somewhat at peace.

 

It is silent now, except for a few remaining sparks of a camp fire once lit."

 

This is to do with Ethreal's only love. She was a Templar at the Mage Circle he went to, and more often or not, they'd escape the building, and just camp out most nights. Then one day, a physical dispute broke out between Mages and Templars. Some Templars took the side of the Mages, and unfortunately, Ethreal's love got caught by one of the opposing Templar's sword. While he admits to being infatuated with a Templar, the official story he goes by is "He was too awkward to do anything about it."

 

I've probably messed the story up, but its mainly the way I'd tell it. And I think halfway through I forgot what the meaning of the camp fire and its flames was lol. 

 

Cole doesn't get this out of him at first, I think its a while after they've met this happens, but when it did, Ethreal wasn't expecting it. But it was because of Cole that he went from being almost at peace with her death, to fully being at peace. It's probably something Ethreal will take years to tell Josephine about, but we all have to start somewhere.

Cole: "It hurts you can't sleep because it hurts and sometimes you look at the poison in the drawer and think about taking it, a quick end but you don't you fear how you would look to the others for leaving before things are fixed so you wait and deal with the pain but now, now you are not so sure and that scares you. You don't know if you should take the poison when the sky is closed or not, you're conflicted and that scares you more because you want the sleepless nights to stop but you don't want to really leave. You keep it hushed up closed tightly like a safe kept away from the world but some of them still know and they worry and you worry what they'd say if they knew so you keep it to yourself and it hurts you."

 

Valeria: "Not in front of the others please."

 

Cole: "But, they want to help."

 

 

This one isn't so great but I've slapped my dwarf with a heavy case of guilt so it still fits her quite well I think though I may have been off on the Coleyness of Cole this time by more than usual.
