Apparently...system restore and live with the pre-patch 2 bugs til the patch 2 texture bugs are hotfixed/patched.

Would I be right in thinking that if I can't do a system restore on the drive the game is on, my options are live with it or sit here and whinge?

If you have a physical copy, uninstall/reinstall the game then disable automatic updating in Origin.

If digital, oops.

Rght, deep breath... calm blue oceans, calm blue oceans. It's my own fault for installing a patch before checking for people yelling about it. And I'm sure someone will be along to fix it eventually. I suppose I should be grateful for the qunari hair choices at this point, it's not too terrible on the mohican. It's the lack of freckles and scars annoying me more.

But then you'll presumably lose the day 1 patch?

The solution is not patching the game. If you already have, you're out of luck.

The PR fail though.

A super quick follow-up in the next couple of days will mitigate it hopefully.

in my case it was not automatic, first origin opened & asked

sound is also bit strange, turn in surround when u have only 2 speakers, its like speakers are in side a box or how to say it :D

so it seems there are others with same issue (from reading some posts here), that after update this happened

well lets hope its one time thing, like after rebooting PC when i wake up its back to normal, well i remember 1 game, after patch it had some glitches but next day they were gone

to bad DAI is not as simple as previous games, no settings ini file what u can open with notepad, its just maybe the mech settings wen back to med & in game menu it shows high & that why mech settings has no effect, its a theory, then changing it manually would fix it, that why its to bad there no juts file, i searched it

EDIT:

read this to

https://www.reddit.c..._high_settings/

i did not notice, but they say its like they forced all settings to low, this link explains better

BioWare screw other settings, but at least fix Mesh, so it can be used, i mean that using it changes graphics, i mean it would be enough, then we can get rid off plastic hair, i go sleep new, when i wake up its better be fixed (i mean patch ready) :D

Here's fix for your issue:

Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

Here's fix for your issue:

i left clicked on shortcut & added parameter in the end of "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" in properties (but nothing changed) Target "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" parameter, & after that i right clicked on DAI shortcut & i got straight in game & changing setting in game still had no effect, seems it does not work for me

i also tried "C:\Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting> & result same

by default after installing the game all settings were medium Mesh i swished to high to get rid off plastic hair, i did it after installation when i got in first time, so even it it would worked changing all to high to get mesh high mite not be good, unless it gives option to change each settings like in game

i was reading this to

http://forum.bioware...be-shiny/page-4

http://forum.bioware...ch-today/page-6

http://forum.bioware...n-latest-patch/

BioWare instead of giving users the way to fix it u should patch it, cause users paid for quality & its not users job to fix ur mess, its ur job (& i know it takes time to fix)!!! also forcing game on certain settings is as good as FKing Up ur game, then why do we need settings if they have no effect, if changing from medium to high & then ultra has no effect, if it changes nothing & players are forced to play with crappy graphics, even DAO & DA2 are better with low settings despite that DAI low is higher & better, at least DAO does not have glitches on low, don't SH where u eat, cant help it i'm just slightly pissed :D

BioWare u could add rollback option to game for patch, so if some patch messes up something that people do not like they can roll back the patch, men time u could just make little patch to fix the Mesh settings, this goes faster cause that just 1 thing, so it gets done sooner then some full patch for meany issues

i was reading it from somewhere that this instruction u @Hassler have originally came from BioWare

If you know it takes time to fix, why are you yelling at them they gave you a workaround you can use for the period it'll take them to make the new patch?

I don't have plastic hair per se, but it's very shiny. Definitely not so bad as having the meshes on low or medium pre-patch. To me this is not the main issue, but a lot of other graphical effects has been turned down for some reason. The overall quality is poor to what I had before, which was Ultra. Emerald Graves looks like a boiled horse. And I don't think there are any workaround for these issues. I hope this gets resolved quickly, hopefully before the weekend.

The visual downgrade isn't good, but I'd rather have it for now than continuing to have my mouse stop working at the War Table.

Ir was a good patch.
