I'm curious what goes on from a story and programming perspective, here. If Hawke didn't romance anyone in DA2, how does Nightmare taunt them? I'm guessing the next person to threaten with death would be Hawke's surviving sibling, but past that? Aveline, Varric? Does anybody know?

Yes, I understand that. I'm asking if anyone knows what actually happens within the text of the game, particularly if Hawke's siblings are both dead.
