I believe that was the plan with this game until a new direction was taken. You can tell it was originally supposed to be some online game.

I wouldn't want a full fledged MMO, but a Dragon Age game with the open world nature of Inquisition, that lets me and three other people run around and explore the world, do quests, and fight dragons together would certainly get my attention.

A dragon age MMO would be great but i can almost guarntee it won't come out that good. I mean the main thing i think Bioware has learned from SWTOR is that cartel market (cash shop) brings in all the money.

However it would be awesome to be able to play as part of one of the nations in Thedas for a real. A real Orlesian a real Qunari following the Qun or a real Tevinter mage etc etc. I still would support a Dragon Age MMO if it didn't look like complete crap.

I wouldn't mind a parallel project MMO set in DA universe; one that is not affecting the line of plot from the 3 games (kind of like DA:2 was a parallel plot to Origins).

It'd be interesting being a templar, or a mage from the Circle. Something that is separate but uses the same lore.

As long as they did this yet maintain the RPG frnachise (kind of like NBA/NBA Jam)

Ugh. No Thanks. Too much of what makes these games great would be lost in an MMO setting, and I just plain have no interest in it. I adore Elder Scrolls to pieces but I'm not about to touch ESO either unless it goes free to play or buy-the-box to play, and deeply discounted at that just to see what lore it has to offer.

Sadly, I don't think fan input will matter and it isn't really Bioware's decision. If EA and their shareholders think they can milk a few extra bucks a month out of it, they will do it and they have proven time and again that they aren't beyond throwing their devs under a bus for their bottom line. Zenimax, from what little I know of them, seems to be a more responsible parent company than EA, yet they still took Bethesda's brainchild down the MMO road despite the ES devs being against it and having so little to do with it in the end.

It's a bad idea all around. But that's never stopped EA in the past. :/

Absolutely not. I gave Elder Scrolls Online a try because I kinda like MMO's and I love the Elder Scrolls games. However mashing those two together did not bring out the best of two worlds. It just doesn't work like that.

Please give me more and better single-player games instead. I don't even care if they up prices. Just don't make it an MMO.

It's really hard to build a good story in mmo. Someone said before that he's tired of mmos after 7 years of playing them. Same with me. I'm tired of endless grinding. I need a good story. Good characters. Deep character interaction. I don't think that mmo can provide me this.

Man I wasted 60€ on Elder Scrolls Online and I can never forgive myself about that. I dont know if someone even play that crap anymore. Does it still have sub?

Bioware have swtor, which is good, becoming old with outdated graphics but after all these years it is one of best mmo's right now. Imagine now dragon age with new frostbite in mmo. Maybe it wouldnt be bad but engine is kinda problematic. Lots of people have problem with engine, imagine problems when 50 or more players are on map. It would be slide show.

Maybe mass effect MMO wouldnt be bad also.

All in all, Bioware definetly can make good MMO. Certinly better than Zenimax and ESO.

Why would they even want an MMO so badly?

MMO they made was a financial failure, they were forced to go free to play, because apparently besides hardcore fans nobody wanted to pay for it longer than a month.

DAI got huge critisism from players across the Interner for heavily borrowing from MMOs and actually managing to include MMO mechanics and features at a significantly lower quality then an average MMO does.

If they got so bored and lazy that they don't want to work on single player titles anymore, perhaps they should consider closing or "creating a new company" under a different name?

A DA MMO would put the entire franchise in a coffin.

Please don't.

As long as Mass Effect stays a single player rpg im all for it. They proved that with SWOTR, story heavy mmos are feasible. Inquisition seems to have been a test for a Dragon Age mmo.

We dont need another MMO... Times have changed. Plus, EA already has SWTOR, making another MMO Its a waste of resources at this point

Hopefully not. It's not like there's a shortage of games in the MMO genre. I'd prefer Dragon Age: Offline over Dragon Age "Online" any time.

Awesome use of cassandra there lol

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Was it? I didn't think they ever intended DA: 3 to be online, did they? I understand how it turned out makes some think it might be a prelude or template to one, but I always figured they were just overcorrecting for DA: II.

Hopefully not. It's not like there's a shortage of games in the MMO genre. I'd prefer Dragon Age: Offline over Dragon Age "Online" any time.

Well said.

I love single player RPGs, but hate MMORPGs more than the blight, so i hope not.

Also well said.

It seems like almost everyone on here shares my opinion regarding a future online-only dragon age title; which is surprising, since I almost always have a different opinion. If so many DA fans feel this way, I hope Bioware takes heed. I love the franchise and want to see it continue--but love it because of it's SP content and good story.

MMORPGs are failing left and right, going f2p, p2w. Nah. The WoW model is dead, it just keeps chugging along but for how much longer? Elder Scrolls, Star Wars, you'd think two Empire level franchises could pull off a successful MMO but both were embarrassing flops. The proof is in the pudding, how much of DAI is salvaged code from an ill advised DA MMO? They wisely decided to make money instead and produce it as a SP game with some throwaway co-op MP.

A DA mmo, no please. A Mass Effect MMO, I'm not with you guys I say yes lol.

Edit: Let me elaborate, a Mass Effect MMO could work because it already has the fps mechanics in 3rd person. So it wouldn't really be competing with other fps if they kept it 3rd person. On the other hand if they went first person they could easily blow out games like Destiny. Mass Effect 3 already sets up the whole game-play for a Mass Effect MMO, what it lacked was exploration. So 3rd person over the shoulder set in ME universe, choose your race, choose your path: Blood pack, N7 etc, 3-4 man squads co-op w/ up to 6 man squad operations. -_- your really not seeing it? Mass Effect Online, come explore the universe.

Whereas DA pen and paper game sounds good but only as pen and paper...

Edit2: That Rngesus is the only problem I would foresee... :P

Nope.

Also, you'd never experience things as deep as some of these companion quests in MMO. This game was a falcon punch response to DA2's rush job. Not an MMO framework.

If you mean in terms of game mechanics... Which one? Most MMOs are vastly diverse from one another.

And why is "MMORPG" seen as a negative connotation? There are some wonderful MMOs on the market.

On the first point: the "kill X enemies" and "gather X items of type Y" quests, which are prevalent as quests in many MMOs for content filler purposes. The crafting mechanics are also MMO-like. The open wilderness with the random mob spawns which drop random loot - also MMO-ish.

Hint: Skyrim was a major inspiration for the game, it oozes from every pore. The TES series has been considered an offline MMO since Morrowind, so, yeah.

On the second point: because most people rightly see the abovementioned MMO-characteristic features to have no place in single-player offline RPGs, since they look, feel and act like filler, lengthening the game time without providing actual story content for the most part. That is a widespread sentiment on the interwebs, and one of the most common complaints to be ever thrown at any RPG made after Everquest became popular, I believe.
