I'm up to the point were Sutherland and his crew are missing and I have Josephine looking for them.

What did you think of Sutherland?

In my first playthrough I took Leliana's option and had the bandits killed instead of giving an untrained boy a sword and telling him to fight them himself. Apparently that was the wrong choice, because it robbed me of a long quest chain and an actual NPC who you can talk to and everything.

Bah.

Shoot. I did that too.

It's amusing to follow up with Sutherland, if you encourage keeping him on and giving him a chance to prove himself.

I loved his questline!

I really enjoyed going back to the Tavern and talking to him and watching his company grow over time, it was actually one of my favourite parts of the game.  Assuming everything goes okay for you too, don't forget to talk to him after you finish the game as well.

I was afraid for Sutherland because I thought there was a good chance I could do something wrong and get him killed but I picked my advisers carefully and he's a very happy chap with his little group. I visit him all the time, in the bar, although we are now at the point where he doesn't say much. I like it when guys like these get to live and thrive.  :)

Ha!  I was the same way, I has this feeling the entire time that his quest line was ripe for some sort of death, thankfully he turned out ok....at least in my game.  Not sure how it'd go using other choices.

On my first playthrough I thought he only had the first thing and that was all.  I didn't talk to him again. :D

I was suspicious that he was going to turn on me and I'd build him up and outfit him and then have to go hunt them down as bad guys or something.

Yeah, Sutherland's company of misfits was awesome. He even manages to have romance by the end of it :)

Obviously, i picked the option to encourage him to sponsor another young up-starting Company with the money he intended to pay me.

Same.

I was wary of someone coming to me not just with information, but also with a desire to help. I thought giving him a sword would end up screwing me over and he'd be walking my men into a trap.

Turns out I was wrong to go with Leliana. Canon Nasir won't do that though.

Well.. shite!

Suppose I'll do things differently this time around then

So the best course of action is to choose Cullen's option? I used Leliana's last time and that was that.

At some point after

Spoiler
, he and his merry band of misfits disappeared.  I was quite disappointed that things just seemed to stop, but I'm glad to know he can be there all the way to endgame.

I liked the little side story that was his rise to command.

So this is a series of war table missions?? Ugh I swear I have missed alot from the war table missions, there's so many and the descriptions are LONG most of em anyway. I don't want to sit there and read all that shite I just pick whichever advisor takes the least time and move on. But it seems by doing that I missed out on this, I missed the wardens letter etc etc I feel like an idiot now :\

Before you get any missions from him, you have talk to him on the second floor of the tavern. Once you talk to him, for me, that started missions on the war table.

Yeah, I don't know w hat happened to Sutherland on my playthrough.  I got to the point where he went to help the dwarves, and then a dwarf named Mouse showed up and said he was in trouble and needed help.  Pretty sure that talking to Mouse was supposed to unlock another war table mission, but it didn't...

Is this a bug?  Maybe on my next run...

Well after you have one of you advisors search for Sutherland and crew.  You look around in your journal for Sutherland.  It's not that long of a thing though.

Yes, I think yours is bugged if you weren't able to go save Sutherland. I think he's on the Storm Coast when he needs saving but I don't know if you'd find him there if you don't go through a war table mission.

Who are the Party members and what are there role in the group of Sutherland's.  The Male elf is a Mage.  Southerland is probably a warrior at least that's how I see him.

What about the other two?

I thought one of the girls looked like a Healer!  That would be weird.

At some point a dwarf, who is standing where Sutherland was standing, will tell you that he has been kidnapped. The quest to help him then shows up on the war table. I hope that's your problem and not that he got killed. He never got killed in my game so I don't know if he really can die.
