PSA? There was actually a hidden Arcane Warrior fix in Patch 2

In short, prior to patch 2 there was a fairly easy (with some skill and a bit of practice) exploit that allowed the Arcane Warrior to use his instant spells (such as fade cloak and fade step) for free with no cooldown.  This could be repeated every time you used Spirit Blade.

What that meant was, If you knew how to do it, your Arcane Warrior was literally invulnerable.  And, you were dropping out 1000% damage fade cloak nukes every time you swung your sword.  The only drawback to this was how much screen shaking your damage spells would do.

AFAIK there is / was no video of a competent, patch 1 arcane warrior abusing this exploit in multiplayer... So, I can't point you to a video of it working.  And, I don't frequent reddit or any other gaming community boards so I'm not sure if any others were already aware of this exploit.  But, I've been into the top teens in the world leaderboard mainly from using this technique and I think if others were doing it I would probably have never gotten so high on the leaderboard.  It allowed me to run perilous at level 4-5 when I might have otherwise needed to run Threatening or even Routine.  But, all of that is finished with now and I'm absolutely thrilled that Bioware has patched this bug, firstly because I could never resist the temptation to abuse it and secondly because Bioware was able to quickly identify this bug and patch it before all the scrubs started using it.

Anyways, now that it has been patched out we can finally discuss it.  I decided to share this info with everyone because there are a lot of people here braying for a nerf who were probably ignorant of what gave the AW such an edge.  The Arcane Warrior just lost his secret weapon, today.  In my opinion, as of patch 2, AW is still awesome and you could still probably make a proper case for nerfing it but he's no longer "magic".  You definitely won't see as many hopeless players face rolling the controls and accidentally getting impossibly good results.

Meh,

You probably have an e-peen issue to force yourself exploiting the game this way. This kind of mp is made to challenge yourself, i ll never understand people who couldn't resist to cheat/exploit in cooperative game.

And i dont see the value to bring a topic about an exploit, except beeing honest with yourself and admitting you abuse game mechanics (but we already know that most top 10 players used exploit/cheat engine)

Finally, i am not a super fan of aw so i don't play it a lot but i am pretty sure with a good weapon and some skills, soloing perilous can be done legit!

That being said, CONGRATS! (give dat man a cookie...)

You shouldn't have brought this up. I just read on a mod site that they were already able to bypass the new patch to duplicate the glitch. Here's the link:

Actually I came to the bug when I was just making an effort to reduce downtime between swings, just trying to be better at playing the class properly.  I had been playing my character in this manner for close to a week before I even realised that when I did things perfectly I didn't even trigger a cooldown.  It's just that I had already discovered that you could interrupt some of the longer, more pointless end-of-swing animations with other abilities or even a jump and I was doing that because it's just faster and I thought I was merely using skill to increase my DPS.

About others using memory editors, yeah are we talking about that here?  Any idiot can do it... and yeah someone I trust had a game with DanTheMan and apparently he is 4 shotting the Demon Commander with his Katari's Greataxe... to do 40,000 damage per hit... That's something that would probably require about say... 9999 attack which would require 20,000 Willpower promotions.  So yeah, that dude is cheating his little Korean butt off.  And, there's probably noone in the world that thinks it is clever.

About soloing perilous with AW.  Yeah still very possible, just not at level 4-5 now.  And nowhere near as quickly as I used to be able to do it.  Now, you'd want to be around level 10+.  As I said, AW is still clearly powerful and probably OP and I'd go further and say it's still the "ultimate warrior" in DAMP.  Not that that is a good thing.

Anyways judging by your tone I take it you're one of the ones who want a AW nerf.  I don't even disagree with you.  But, it doesn't hurt to know what you're talking about, first.  And, have some faith, it's clear that Bioware has an even better idea of just how OP the Arcane Warrior is than you do and is already taking steps to address it.  *that's* why I bothered to post about it, dude.  My intention is not to offend or annoy, just inform.

Also - it seems that Spirit Sword no longer detonates the sleep effect which used to cause a "nightmare / panic" combo + massive bonus damage.

So that's a second, rather large undocumented nerf / fix for the AW.  I'm guessing the majority of players weren't even aware this was possible.  But for most people they just won't be seeing AW's getting solo combo medals without realising why, anymore.  I'm wondering what else has been changed.

I'm definitely taking a lot more hits while I have fade cloak active as well... but this ability has never been perfectly reliable, anyway.

I'm fairly sure the detonate change was documented, but was only mentioned in single player since it wasn't multi-specific.  Not 100% sure--too lazy to check--but I am relatively certain I recall seeing spirit blade detonations mentioned.  Seems the single player changes can, some of the time at least, impact multi.

Oh there it is, in Single Player:

- Fix to Spirit Blade so it longer triggers combos

Ouch!  But perhaps this will give players more incentive to actually spec into stonefist.

I don't ask for aw nerf, i would prefer some up to bring other class to the same level with kit reviewd, succh as alchemist, katari, etc...Damage on Aw is ok but the barrier generation seem to be quite too easy and pull maybe would neech a longer cd.

Hopefully, they fixed the glitch, no char would be able to solo perilous @ lvl 4/5, even with a god tier weapon, it's quite game breaker.

Anyway thanks for the information!

I was levelling my Necromancer last night (post patch), unlocked Fade Cloak, and was taking damage with it active.  Presumably this would be similar, and far more significant, to the AW.

This didn't seem like lag either, cloak active, and taking damage mid-way thru duration.

Last night I noticed a few things with fade cloak:

1) I still took damage while cloaked…this was most obvious during boss fights. (one shotted during demon commander in cloak YAY)

2) It stopped producing barrier and stopped doing damage. Not consistent either, never knew when it was going to happen. You usually found out in the middle of an enemy pack…whoops

1) Lag

2) Lag

You are invulnerable when in fade cloak. You can be hit if you are lagging though.
