Soundtrack - yay? Or meh?

IMO, they really make or break a cinematic or location vibe. VR has a nice track but that's the only one that stands out to me. And those damn war room drums.
I'm thinking we need more beautiful femine operatic, new agey, "Leliana's song" kind of music for new DLCs. Or crazy good, urgent war music.
I was able to listen to DAO, DA2, and Mass Effect 3 music (Future of the Krogan or I'm Proud of You soooo good) and still be moved by it outside the game.
Fenris had his own theme aong in DA2 and I feel like characters just aren't set apart by their theme song.
I do love the bards songs though.
I strongly feel that a score is like another character, that reacts to what we're seeing and should be feeling.
That's my stance but I'm curious how others feel. Does Inquisition move you?

I, on the other hand, feel the music in both Origins and Dragon Age II is distinctly average. In fact, I barely remember any tracks, whereas I love most of Inquisition's soundtrack. ![]()
All three Mass Effect games had excellent music.

I agree that they should've implemented softer melodies (perhaps with interjections of big brass, akin to the reaper horn in me3) that really helps build the tension. Their commercials did that extremely well, so I'm surprised that there was less of it in the actual game.

Agree with OP on this. The music from the first two games seem to have more heart and feel more personal. Inquisition's soundtrack left much to be desired for me. Bard songs are a plus, though.

I thought the best track in Inquisition was Hawke's family theme. Of course, Hawke's theme was composed by Inon Zur, so that speaks volumes.

I actually really enjoyed this soundtrack, as in I'll actually go out of my way to listen to the music vs not really caring about it in DA:2 / Origins. I think the only song I liked in Origins was Leliana's theme.
I love the thedas love theme, the orlais theme, and the Elder One's theme to name a few.
Mass Effect 3 also had many memorable tunes in it.

I never thought anything could pass DA Origins music, I was wrong DAI has by far the best soundtrack to date in a DA game.

The music in this game is better than in DAO, but it's not enough to cover the entire game.... How many times have I romaed through the wilderness with no music in the backround ? This was very annoying for me The game simply needs more music. I thought that the sountrack will have at leas 3 CDs like skyrim.
This is just wishful thinking anyway because the more music thing is unlikely to happen...

I'm liking the music in Inquisition. It's some of the better music for a "cRPG" I've heard in quite some time. To be honest, I loved the music in the Baldur's Gate series (still one of my all time favorite RPG's). For console RPG's, Xenogears still has some of the best music I've heard, and that was back in the PS1 generation.
But overall, I do like Inquisition's music so far!

Choosing Trevor Morris was an excellent decision for the music of the game.

I rarely ever hear music. Somebody in another thread posted music from the Astrarium and I was expecting the quiet semi-Mass Effectish music that I hear, yet the video had vocals that I've never heard. I fear I'm missing out on all the music!

I prefer the music in DAO, not that I don't like the must in DAI. It's too quiet at times in DAI. I'll be playing for hours with basically no music at all. I don't like that.

I really liked Inquisitions Soundtrack, especially the Orlais theme and "Wicked Eyes and Wicked hearts" music, which captured the feel of Orlais perfectly. The Tavern songs were great too.
It was vast improvement over the previous two games, which had some of the dullest soundtracks I have ever heard.

I liked the first two soundtracks, but I'm really in love with the Inquisition tracks. Especially the Orlais-Themed songs run a lot in the background while I'm at home.
And when I'm ingame, tbh. Since DAI works more with music cues than constant background music, I often have the soundtrack running while doing some questing.
So yeah, I rly like the soundtrack

It's good, but the game definitely needs more music when questing.
