If you were a dictator, what would you command Bioware to do?

If you had a lot of power, either a ruler, or Bill Gates rich. How would you use your power to make this game better?

I was daydreaming about this yesterday at work. If I was Bill Gates rich, I would contact Bioware immediately and throw millions of dollars at them, no strings attached, to get them to do the following:

Enhance the hell out of the game like so:

  • When I get agents, let them be a subset of characters that can be used just like the main characters. They are lower level and can't be used in the main party, but they can be leveled up and sent out on missions. They can DIE, they can fail their missions. They can be posted at any camp or base to give that place more power (which goes along with the below idea). Agents can group up an go out on quests just like the main party, without the Inquisitor.

  • At the war table you have all your forces listed and you can position them wherever you want. Say one little chess piece is 20 soldiers/ 10 scouts, etc. These can be moved around. Scouts can reveal enemy locations, spies can reveal their number, things like that. Spies can discover enemy spies within our ranks.

  • Locations can be attacked, and depending on how strong you are there or not, they can be lost.

  • Give us a more robust tactical view and AI

  • Give us difficulty sliders on many aspects of the game. Bears can be easy, while demons are set to hard or nightmare, etc.

  • Connected routs from one location to another.

  • Cutscenes of the party traveling, all on horseback, taking a boat across water, etc.

  • More personality options with the main character. More voice options.

  • A lot of polish with what is already there, fleshing out all the characters even more.

  • Random events. I would like to walk into and Inn and see a bar room brawl taking place (and this would not happen every time you played to this point, it really is random).

  • More encounters with the main bad guy, who just happens to get away before you can finish him, or him you.

  • More underlings of the main bad guy that you can hunt down (he needs his own Boba Fett).

Redesign DAI for PS3 and then adapt the PS3 version for other platforms. Pretty devilish of me I guess but that's pretty much they have done, only with designing game on PS4 and XBONE and then adapting it poorly to other platforms. Actually PS3 game would most likely work better on all platforms than current one since it would demand lot less.

I hope you realize not everybody likes this strategic stuff? In this case I'm glad no one commands Bioware to do nothing, your version would ruin the game for me
I don't love this game but your version somehow made think it is actually good out of fear that they could have done something like you suggested
So if I was a dictator I would command Bioware to thank you, generously, for making me like their game more ^_^

I'd get them to take a big look at the side content in the game. I'd have them select 50% of it to remove entirely and the remaining 50% to embellish; add interactivity and narrative; and finally tie into the main story arc more closely, like much of the side content in Origins.

Then, if there was time to add more we'd do that but in the same fashion: dialogue, interactivity, narrative etc. no more fetch x of this and bring it back to me.

I am fine with some of that stuff such as the Rift closing, Shard collection and Astariums. However, I think that alone is enough of that type of side content and the rest should've all been tailor-made.

Quality over quantity my dear, whatever were you THINKING?

Avvar Goat Hat for any of my Inquisitors. I would not wear it... maybe, maybe I would just make an inquisitor for that.

Better Availability of Crafting Schematics, you have to do some really unreasonable things to get some of them.

I'd have had them just say up front a year ago that they were developing on consoles and would half-ass a port to PC when it was convenient to save everyone a lot of heartache.

More hetero sex scenes like witcher 2 tna action :P

More evil dialogue and choices

An option to turn the inquisition into some sort of jones town type cult where we all commit mass suicide ending

Long hair

Good looking females with nice asses like Miranda

Ability to murder knife any npc I choose with consequences of course.

Dance the mazurka while wearing Superman jammies with the feets in 'em.

What? If I'm dictator, I'm damn well going to have some fun with it.

Oh and of course, more fricking skill slots on the action bar. Good lord who thought that was a good idea? Even console players are mystified why they only have access to 8 skills.

  • A hotkey that allows the Inquisitor to initiate banter. "Varrick, tell me a joke" This would only pop up occasionally, you could not spam it.

  • The party members are not always hanging out at the exact same spot in skyhold, they move around, interact with each other, things like that.

  • When you reach a camp and rest, when the camera fade ends you can see your party members sitting around, cooking, stretching after a rest, or something. They are not just standing there.  When out questing, if you idle for any amount of time, they have idle animations or do something rather than just stand there.

  • If I revisit a location with a party member that wasn't there the first time, I would like to hear them comment on it. Only more important locations.

  • More Deep Roads locations.

Reading this reminds me why I should be grateful I don't live in a dictatorship.

On the "connected routs" idea: routs need to be cleared and mapped out. Bring back random encounters while traveling. The main party would have to do this early on, but when you get more powerful, agents can be sent to do this.

Wrong company, your dictatorship has failed and the staff have walked out, this is not a Bioware motto.

Not the same thing. I love this game, but would like to see these things added. Since I am Bill Gates rich, I want my toys.

With those assumptions I would have hired the best lawyers to create a contract that virtualy chained the devs to their desks until the game was finished and working properly and not to spend money on improving an already released product afterwards.
