I like bringing the regeneration potion - with the AoE regen effect it's good at healing a group after battle, or two people that are close to each other in battle. It also takes the weight off of the healing potions, as everybody gets an individual set of those, which can be really helpful.

I'm not sure on grenades! Jar of Bees is fun but it's outclassed by late-game, and while pitch grenade SOUNDS awesome, it doesn't seem to work on dragons, and it's mostly dragons and bosses that I would be using grenades on. I want to give Mighty Offence a try, but it only works for me and I'm not sure if "damage bonus" is a straight numerical bonus to weapon damage (meaning it would be amazing on mages and DW rogue), or some other type of bonus. Regardless, adding 100% to crit damage as a perk is a huge bonus for rogues.

What do you guys use?

I tried out the fire potions for the first time last night and may try to use them more often. It just seems regeneration potions are more useful though.

I try to unlock the extra slot for the potions perk as fast as possible and since then i carry regeneration potions on melee's and healing mist on range characters and each one has a different grenade (I use lyrium potion on my PC if i play a mage) that includes 2 antivan fires and 2 jars of bees most of the time but i occasionally switch to resistance flasks for the appropriate dragon types and pitch grenade for places with a lot of opponents.

1. Regeneration Potion. Highly useful, but later ingame I only put it on characters prone to damage, and have no way of recovering health. i.e. mages/rogues, but not tank or Reaver. Since it's usually only used between fights for healing, when fully upgraded I try to limit the potion to only 1 or 2 people, since the final upgrade allows a single potion to be used to heal the whole party.

2. Healing Mist Grenade. Good healing, and when fully upgraded it serves as a cheap substitute for a mage's Revive.

3. Pitch Grenade. Effectively a weaken that's only trumped by a Rift Mage. Many enemies will end up dealing only 1 damage to your party as a result, even on NM. Godly against stationary bosses.

4. Lyrium Potion (Mage). Increased max mana will allow your mage to spew out more damage than any other potion. This is especially the case on a mage with cooldown reduction either via Fire tree or items.

5. Mighty Offense Tonic (Rogue). +100% crit damage simply trumps everything else for a rogue with decent crit chance, especially a DW rogue with many guaranteed crits.

6. Resistance Tonic. Makes dragon fights (especially lightning dragons) significantly easier, if everyone in your party slots the proper resistance potion just for the fight.

7. Rock Armor Tonic (Tank). Highly useful for a tank early game, but becomes unnecessary by late game.

8. Confusion Grenade. The best grenade against packs. It would have been highly useful early game, but by the time you get to this grenade you really should have no difficulty dealing with packs.

Oh! I don't have healing mist grenade! I'll have to find it.

Does Pitch Grenade work on dragons? Those are the enemies I usually have the most trouble with (although I'm playing on normal, but not like they'd get easier), and it didn't seem to do much. Against regular mobs I can see them being ridiculously powerful.

Yeah, the mighty attack potion was what I figured. The damage bonus it lists, is that applied to your base weapon damage?

Also: I know what you mean about lightning dragons! That stupid static-circle attack, then use the wing beats to suck us all in next to each other, it's so cruel.

Nice post! I disagree about not using Regeneration potion on a Reaver though. If you upgrade the potion to double the healing done when < 25% HP, using the potion lets you spam Dragon Rage like there's no tomorrow (without using Rampage).

Regeneration Potion and Bees pretty much the best for Nightmare.

Quest in Storm Coast.

Go to a Apostate House near the coast. Go out. Go to the camp furthest away from where you start. Run a little around for an Rebel Mage. Kill and get key. Return to house. There you go.

And to the OP:
Normal potions. All that is required for a smooth Nightmare run ;)

Bees and Confusions. For Boss fights with Adds. Jars for bosses, Confs for Adds. Also that poison thingy. :D other that that , no additional pots required, and you cando all NM content without using pots at all, you will need just to arse yorself into much longer fights.

I hate using other potions than the standard one. Why? It makes me go OCD about picking everything up. It's Skyrim all over again! God..damn..butterflies... blue butterflies!
