Be sure to thank the man for helping us out in a timely fashion, especially if this works for you:

Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

Through Origin:

  1. Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
  2. Go to game properties
  3. Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

Through shortcut:

  1. Right Click Shortcut
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box

Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

  • Ultra
  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.

To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.

Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

EDIT: Confirmed working for my PC

I can confirm that this does in fact fix the so called "shiny hair" but some other players are also reporting that their scars on their character's faces are also disappearing as well as their skin "aging".  Does this workaround hold any bearings on those issues?

Scars are now appearing in the character creator also with the workaround, so I would assume it fixes them in game also

I would assume it does but only one way to find out, those who have tried the workaround thus far (admittedly a small number so far) have reported positive results.

I understand your point, it's annoying to have to do this, but it's hardly coding. Significantly easier to do than coding to say the least. All you're doing it adding text to properties.

Well I can not play on Ultra or High setting on my machine. So I'll be sitting and waiting for the fix. What's the point of having options if you can't use them to max your game experience? Just lock them toa set (low, medium, high, ultra) if you don't want us to mix them.... <_<

Oh, yeah, sure Bioware screwed up the patch, but shame on them for providing us with a fix that works right now so we don't have to wait until they can get a hotfix deployed.

Adding a line to a short cut target is hardly "learning to code".

People really are terrible at understanding sarcasm it seems

But at least we now do have something to deal with the issue

To add to my top comment, Where is the fix for My 2 minute war table crash? If i am in the war table for more then 1.5 minutes it freezes hard. Locks up the game completely, Now also when i am loading, I get freeze screens.

My Scars are missing, as are 10 of the complexions, and Now half of my saved games are corrupted.

GOTTA LOVE BETA TESTING!

It's appreciated, but what if you already have a command line to remove the soft 30fps cap?

What about

Is this really due to shader quality mismatch or something else?

You can try another workaround, here:

http://forum.bioware...8#entry18030882

I didn't have system restore on however (my fault) so I tried to restore it manually, which broke the game even more - > means I'm reinstalling the game as I speak.

So if the button to restore isn't there, it won't work.

Since the 2nd Patch, complexions have been taken, put into a mixing folder and scrambled to all hell. So now People who added wrinkles have none and those who didn't have some. Or lots in your case. Sorry for your aging process. Also included in patch that was not released in notes was CONSTANT war table freezing, Loading screens lacking up and Settings forced upon everyone.

Thanks :)

Keep up the great work on the TESTING!

Can confirm that scars are back in with this work-around. ^^

No idea, you have to ask them yourselves on the Patch 2 thread on the news section. I'm only putting the news here because these are only two solutions I've found in the midst of all the sh-tstorm.

Errr, that one wasn't a fix, just a way to roll back the patch - if you are lucky to have a restore point.

I assume it's one or the other mate :)

Though you can try with two command line arguments, I'm unfamiliar with Origin's tools myself.

I changed the properties in a shortcut for the 30fps cap removal and then added the fix to Origin. Now I have both the 30 cap removal and fix for patch 2. Lol, sounds funny. A fix for a patch they put out to fix bugs. Also, to make it official, confirmed working.

How could this mess be released as a patch? Did they not even test it once? Come on...
