Thank you, this works great.

Another new thing I see on the move, but I changed some graphical options, anyone with any idea of why these shadow lines?

1449r4m.png

I've been getting shadows like that off and on randomly since I got the game at launch.  No idea what causes it, and for me it's intermittent.  Changing graphics settings doesn't seem to fix it at all (at least not turning anything up..  haven't tried turning anything down or off yet, it didn't bother me enough yet x.x)

The issue I am having is the game hangs for 10 seconds every 3 seconds and it takes 20 minutes to navigate through the settings. My game ran perfect before the patch. Anyone else have a way around my problem?

What about

i4JE0OE.png

Is this really due to shader quality mismatch or something else?

Something else.

..........age.

Try the hotfix I posted on OP, yes it may tie in with your crashes and hangs

The patch messed mine up as well. Before it, I was having a few minor issues that only reared their heads occasionally, but now the game stutters and freezes every few seconds, making it unplayable (and it's even worse on the menus than it is when actually playing). Is anyone else experiencing this? I tried a system restore to a point I had earlier today, but that didn't end up fixing the issue. And the fix posted above did nothing. I'm almost tempted to delete the patch folder and see what happens but I have strong suspicion that's a terrible idea.

I had that problem before the patch now I do not guess that patch brought that error to you and removed it from me.

ok so if I do this: put in the work-around on high. Then change mesh to ultra and want to change work-around to ultra... do I just add it in the box again or do I have to do something else first? Me no coding expert even with small stuff like this.

Yes, you just change "high" to "ultra" on the workaround.

Thank you. :) I know that question must have sounded extra dumb.

Well, you can always try system restore on your DAI install directory

The workaround worked for me, and no real performance hit. Thank you for posting.

I tried all of the Above, tried your manual fixing and reinstalling and I'm super pissed I wasted my money on this game this f*****g early, WHY don't I ever learn to wait 6 month before playing a game. 280 Hours gone in the trash. The game is completely Unplayable with the Random crashes, constant freezing and the destruction of everything I hoped for in this game.

Thanks for the Patch..... Now I can uninstall this game and get back to life.

As with all patches, if they go wary, update your drivers.

Though from looks of things, the hotfix is still sorely needed for some users. Just take a break until it arrives, hotfixes normally come alot faster then official patches.

Fix worked here, pre-patch I had it in high, and hair seems to be back at normal, but I hope bioware still do the hotfix

It's not "in the trash." You played it, you (assumedly) enjoyed it, and you seem like you got more than one playthrough in with 280 hours logged into the game.

Can you take a guess as to what my total game time was for the past 3 weeks? 8 hours. Eight. If your 280 hours isn't an exaggeration you've had it much better than many people on the forums, AnswerHQ, and Reddit. 280 hours of play time for $60/70 is pretty fulfilling IMHO.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon

Don't get me wrong, I got my moneys worth, but Now it's completely broken to the point it is Not playable what so ever.

You go buy a brand new car and you drive it for a month and it breaks down you would be pissed even if you neighbor had the same car and didn't drive ti as much as you and had same issue. So you did 8 hours, I had time you didn't, sorry for you. The games Still broke.

And as for the 280 hours in the trash I am talking about All my Saved files are corrupted. All 280 hours worth.

Did you change the ingame mesh quality to the same as what you set the shaderquality as?

I believe I did; that would be in the command prompt on Origin right?

And what are you going to do with the 280 hours worth of saves? Stare at them with misty tear-filled eyes and stroke your monitor longingly?

Instead you could look up the several posts about corrupted saves and how to restore them, try the fixes, and see what happens after that. Either 1) it fixes your problem and you can go back to enjoying the game post-hotfix or 2) GG your saves are screwed. It's unfortunate but it's not the end of the world. Hell, I don't know how you wouldn't be burned out of a game after logging that many hours into it, but that's just me.

Specifically;

- If you are on PC, Origin stores saves with cloud software.

- If you are on console, fully restarting is apparently something that can sometimes restore saves.

I know there are other options that I've seen throughout Reddit but, as I obviously haven't had the issue happen to me, I haven't retained the information. In the future, make multiple save states as well as make sure you retain auto saves. And if you're on PC and your cloud saves are corrupted (if that's even possible?) then you've got the worst luck I've ever seen before in my life.

The game has been fucked since launch, though, so I really don't feel bad for people who are having the same issues I've had since launch that SEEM to have been fixed in this patch. :x I spent hours looking at work arounds, supposed fixes, I even talked to EA support who confirmed it wasn't a problem on my end but on BW's (though they didn't say that themselves). All you can do is wait and fill your time with other things. There's no need to throw a tantrum and say all your time was wasted and your saves are in the trash. It's a game, and a single player one at that. You aren't competing with other people and you don't need to compare saves and see who has better ones and yadda yadda. You have personal satisfaction from completing x-y-z in the game and console/origin trophies to show for it. S'all that should really matter considering the time dump you've put into it.

LOL.

GTFO.

Seriously when you put the time into the game I hope your game goes corrupt so you can Experience it first hand. But as of this post I'm done talking to you. You are just looking for self satisfaction with your lame replies as I am On a Feedback thread about this new patch giving my feed back.

Thank you and have a good one Asheria.

What about

i4JE0OE.png

It is due to the shader mismatch, I can confirm! I had a similar problem with my Inquisitor's face texture. Fortunately it was just replaced with one that had less freckles, rather than an old lady face, but I just added the quick fix, and her face is back to normal, and all of my complexion options when I start a new game are back. It's funny how such a little thing can screw us over so royally.

Made a backup of my executable. Took the plunge and applied the patch. Also, edited my game shortcut as indicated and..

No problemos. Actually, It seems to load faster. My in-game graphics settings were not changed.

So far, then, it's all good. I'm doing Crestwood by the way...

The fix instructions aren't entirely helpful. Firstly, when you right click the game in Origin the only properties option is Game Properties, so I assume that's the one to click. Then, there is no command line properties box, only command line argument. I assume this is the correct box? The instructions here seem as if they are referring to an entirely different program...

Create a shortcut on you desktop select your DragonAgeInquisition.exe to complete it.

Then right click on the shortcut, select properties at the bottom and look at Target in the pop-up menu.. Add the -command at the end as stipulated in the workaround.

This is what my shortcyt Target looks likes:

"F:\My Games Installed\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Launch the game via the shortcut.

System restore points have nothing to do with user files. DAI is a user file.

Since my internet speed was very high I was able to stop the update! but thing is fracking origin says, "game in unplayable without the update" though I was able to play in offline mode. The issue with playing offline is I cannot access the keep. is there a way to make origin accept that I wont update and the same time play the game online?
