What really gets me though - and as others have pointed out already - is that after the initial sex scene (or completion of the quest and your inquisitor affirms their love for their LI and vice versa), nothing else is really said about it? I'm not asking for a long, drawn out romantic novel about my inquisitor and their partner, but I do agree that some general conversational hints/teasing from other characters towards your relationship would be nice. As it stands, I felt a little underwhelmed when I finally completed the quests for Iron Bull and Dorian, got the "sex scenes" and it just felt like that was that. Mission accomplished. Now what?
More sex scenes after the first sex scene.

I've gotten teased for that by party members before, including Dorian. Cass is also the subject of some TMI as party banter if you take her and Bull out on the road. Maybe it's different with other romances, but that's been my experience so far.

Yeah, I did get a wee bit of teasing off Dorian when I visited him with my inquisitor who is romancing Cullen, but that aside, I can't say I've really gotten much other teasing/playful hinting off the others. Maybe I'm not bringing along the right people when I'm out killing stuff with my party lol.

Bring Cass and Iron Bull with you sometime when you're romancing the Bulll. Totally worth it.

The abrupt cut-off is probably due to what Gaider called = Word Budget.
My preference is half the romance options but more romance content. Example is a team member saying something along the line ".. I heard the Inquisitor was sneeking off..." or ".. are those two becoming an item?.." . This type of dialogue/banter engages you in the romance...

Ok Santoz, i liked you before, i mean your Kane and all but...."half the romance options..." No, just no. We are pretty limited as is, imagine of there was only half. Everyone would only have one option for romance...lol. Besides no need to take more things out. Bioware has done more than enough on that front on their own. lol

I agree, i think it was ME 2 but im not sure but one of the games had your love interest say things like not now when you asked for sex, or we just did, kind of thing. Something like that could be implemented so sex doesnt become an overdone, mean nothing routine thing. Also like ive said before, sex should be just the beginning of the real relationship. Not the end of it. You should have maybe dating cutscenes and chats, talk about what you will do when all this is over, a marriage option would be great as well. Talk about kids an the future. Long talks, picnics, something. Im so sick of this whole build up in a relationship only to get some and feel like. OK quest completed, on to the next.
That's one reason why I love Josephine's romance in this game. With the level of physical intimacy left ambiguous for the player to determine what kind of relationship they have sexually, they were able to focus on the romantic aspect of the relationship instead.
The Citadel DLC was another great example of this because since the main game already established you as a couple with the LI, they were able to expand on the romance side of the relationship by having a date with the LI.

I was referring to the word budget limitation. So, less romance options = more word budget = more dialogue lines.
This is my understanding from gaider's blog. Basically, the pie needs to be sliced up between n people. So your cut of the pie is equal to pie/n. Want more pie? Then your pie cut = pie/(n/2) is one answer.

Some dlc quest that expands the romance a little would be great. Like how the dlc for DA2 supposedly did this (unless you romanced Fenris). Still need to play that dlc. But why when there's no extra bits for Fenris romance? ![]()

Or less word waste on pointless empty and totally optional quests....that's a good place to take a cut.

You've hit the nail on the head there. It's not a romance as is handled in previous games, it's just another quest that you complete and forget about. It's very poorly implemented.

I just don't understand the appeal of romance and sex in a videogame. Can someone just explain it to me without insulting my intelligence.
Because pixelated boobs. What more do you need? No but seriously, you may as well ask the same thing of movies....or books....or TV shows...It's just video games that get the stigma attached because of that interaction added to the mix.

I'll try and explain it. It's about immersion. Role playing games usually have high levels of immersion in them. Unlike an action game or FPS where your character is just a weapon, RPG characters are usually people. It's like reading a good book as opposed to playing a game. So with this immersion you become the character in a way other genres can never achieve. Because you are immersed in the character, if there is a love interest option for you, you'll explore that because like any good hero from any good book, you want to unfold the love story that's waiting to be told. Cassablanca is a WWII movie but would it have been as epic without the love story? It's just part of human nature I guess. It connects with the romantic inside us all.

An excellent explanation. It is amusing how people ask why have romance in a game, but no one asks when it comes to movies, books, music, etc...
Its a story and chapter that unfolds for your character, giving you even more investment and motivation in the world and the things you are fighting for. It also opens up new experiences, dialogue, and story. At least for me. ![]()
As a girl who's not interested in boobs, its not about the pixalated boobs. Its about that Dorian butt.
But also the emotional connection to the characters and world. Its just part of it. And Bioware has, in my opinion, always done a good job in the past.

I would not mind more intimate moments; especially for Josephine. But what I would really like is more flirt options. I want me and whoever I am romancing to be a hopeless flirt.

I am someone who had always loved RPG's. I'm also someone who loves romance. I'm always reading some sort of fantasy romance or regency romance. I'm always watching TV and movies fantasy and sci-fi oriented. To have three things I love all rolled up into one (game+fantasy+romance) is just so much awesome.

I'm going to put myself out there and say this: if Bioware ever puts out a fantasy oriented visual novel game with rich characters and deep storylines and epic romances, I will be all over that like butter on toast.

Uh...I've gotten plenty of comments about my relationships from companions in all three of the playthroughs in which I've gotten far enough. In Sera's people comment near constantly and with bull there are plenty of allusions to it. In the cullen romance I haven't gotten as far but I've already gotten some people talking to me about it...I actually thought the romances were very well written.
Maybe more relationship content (for friendships AND romances) but no more sexual content, I play my games for story, not porn.

I'd love to see more intimate moments with LIs. And I dont mean sex scenes when I say that. I just mean cut-scenes, and dialog and such pertaining to them being your LI. Also, more flirting options.
And more party banter and companion/adviser responses to your relationship. and Gossip around Skyhold and other parts of the world.
