Today in the inquisition, Dofni convinced Varric to write the next chapter of Swords and Shields for Cassandra, who was appropriately ecstatic to be holding the book in her hands no matter how much she tried not to show it at first. After playing through this little sequence with her, whether she's romanced or not, I dunno how anyone can not like her character. A person would have to be utterly heartless. Heartless, I say.
Really, though, to each their own
Afterwards, Blackwall asked Dofni to accompany him to the Storm Coast. 'A date!' She thought, 'He's finally asking me on a date, and this is where he takes me? There's a reason dwarves aren't sailors!' But she couldn't refuse him, so off they went. As they trudged along the rainy coast, getting thoroughly soaked, and closing a few darkspawn holes, she made sure to remind him that he sure knows how to show a girl a good time. He laughed as he pulled his axe out of a Hurlock skull. She loved it when he laughed. He didn't hold anything back.
He finally found the place he was looking for, and the grey warden badge he'd lost, or the warden he was with had lost (metagame-y oops!), and suggested they talk things over back at Skyhold. Okay, just one last cave to block up, and eight or ten bears to kill on the way to it, and some mabari to chase futilely through the woods. She wished the boys would stop doing that, or if they absolutely had to, they should at least catch the damned things.
Back at Skyhold, Sera thanked her for the Inquisition's impressive march through Verchiel, and suggested they go get paid for the effort. Why does everyone wait until we're back home, with weapons and armor stowed away, feet up and a mug of ale in hand, before wanting to go out again? The meeting in Verchiel was a double-cross, and Sera made wine out of the noble who was responsible for the whole thing. Dofni didn't try to stop her, didn't try to talk her out of it, and had no intention of any further business dealings with the ***hole. The whole encounter took her back to her Carta days, and it was kinda fun to reminisce. It also served to bring Sera and her closer together, and they were becoming fast friends.
Back at Skyhold (again), Dofni chatted with Cole about some old friends of his, and put Josie on the case to track them down. A favor for a favor in the Inquisition it seems, as Josie wanted to meet someone in Val Royeaux with her to discuss some family financial difficulties. Well, they have to go to Val Royeaux at some point anyway, to meet some guy named Vicinus, so that's easy enough, but... not yet.
Then Solas mentioned a spirit friend of his who had been wrongfully summoned out on the Exalted Plains, and wanted Dofni's help to figure out what was going on. Well... they were headed out there next anyway. *sigh* She hesitated to set foot in the tavern, dreading the next inevitable favor that would undoubtedly be asked of her, but she really wanted something to drink. Thankfully, Iron Bull obliged, and the two stayed up late into the night the night toasting their first Dragon kill together, drinking mug after mug of Maker only knows what.
Afterwards, with as much dignity as she could muster, she reeled staggered strolled inquisitorially up to her chambers and was pleasantly surprised to see her man standing by the window, looking all serious and stuff. He was trying to cool things down again after their date on the Coast, and he was being very noble about it all, but she wasn't going to let him get away with that, and the night ended rather perfectly with a very passionate and steamy make-out session. Oh my.
Sometimes it's good to be Queen.
Sometimes it's not good to drink so much. She realized when she woke up (alone *sigh*) that, at some point, she'd gotten the Templar emblem tattooed on her... well, on her. Ser said joining the Templars would involve some pain, but, honestly even if it was a fair-sized tattoo, she never felt a thing
Now that she'd joined the Templar order -- Cullen will be unhappy, I'm sure -- she thought it might be time to trade in the big sword for a shield and smaller sword, or maybe an axe. On her way to Undercroft, she bumped into Mother Giselle...
Mother Giselle received a letter from someone wanting to meet with Dorian, and asked Dofni not to tell him about it in case he refused the meeting. Well... maybe Dorian maybe hasn't been out adventuring with the gang much, but he did help them kill a dragon recently. That made him okay in Dofni's book. She told him, and convinced him to make it to the meeting, and off they went to Redcliffe, with Blackwall and Cole tagging along. Only, when they got to the Gull and Lantern tavern, it was completely empty! Like it had been utterly abandoned.
I was really hoping that had been patched.
So that's where I'm at, restarting the game to see if that helps.
