Got my laptop late Thursday, so I spent a fair bit of time setting things up and installing DA:I. I hit the Hinterlands last night with my evil clone of mage-quisitor #2 to find Mother Giselle and get the part started, etc. Actually, I lied: my (almost) clone is not evil. As per usual, my character is a fairly soft, squishy marshmallow at heart. I went back to the Hinterlands earlier for a couple of hours and then hit Val Royeaux to deal with the Chantry. Much to my regret, I ran into Lord Seeker Lucius (jerk!) again and still can't punch him (would now like to suggest DLC specifically for punching Lucius and am 99% sure that my friend who says his face is eminently punchable would appreciate this).

I now have all my recruitment quests, but because Blackwall is my permanent DA:I sweetie, I'm off to recruit him first. I stopped by the Crossroads on the way because someone mentioned there's actually a guy named Giles who shows up after you get the Blackwall recruitment quest and that you can ask him questions about Blackwall. I ended up him asking him about the "Warden" and found out that he was, well, actually heroic and single-handedly saved a bunch of villagers from demons. Say what you will about his past, but he certainly did kick some demon butt according to Giles.

Welcome back to Thedas ... That's pretty cool about Giles. I have spoken to him but I don't recall ever being able to ask him about Blackwall. Well, I'm gonna have to go back to the Hinterlands at some point. Still have unfinished business there.

Hahaha that's absolutely how Blackwall would like to attend. And glad something makes the Plains just a bit more bearable

Aside from that one War Table banter (which is hella awkward with a US Warden...) where Cullen asks Leliana about a romanced mage and that poor messanger asking her again on the Commander's behalf, do you know if his thing for mages he shouldn't fall in love with comes up during the romance?
But yes, I think we established with Coryfish that Dofni kicking people would be bad, best not forget her

Dofni's truly something to get on Vivienne's good side. She seems to hate almost all my Inquisitors

I dunno when I'll get to the Cullen romance, but I will eventually, and that is the world state I'd planned for him. If I have to name a 'canon' world state it would be my first warden, the Morrigan-romancing younger Cousland, who survived the blight and then followed his love through the Eluvian.

But I also liked the warden who was the DA equivalent of the blood-spattered bride in "Kill Vaughn" She romanced Leliana and made the US too, and I set that world state up for Harold's game.

Nery was not amused and told them to talk about something else. BW slightly disapproved of her slight disapproval. Now he and Varric are plotting to convince Josie that "something" is happening in Markham and they just have to go there.   Boys will be boys, I guess.

 

Another funny.....I had earlier made Nery some Pink!quisition vanguard armor but later replaced it with a better set up (also pink). While scrolling through the armors in the crafting screen, said pink armor just happened to get placed on Iron Bull.  OMG....I wish I could post a screenshot. I laughed for a good five minutes at how ridiculous he looked. I could just imagine him saying, "Boss, you're the best, but there is NO WAY I am ever going to wear THAT!"

I don't actually have the savegame for Cousland anymore, so no character to import, but I recreated his game as close as I could in the Keep, and used that worldstate for my first DA:I game. It's totally worth it (imho) to have a world state with a warden who's in love with Morrigan, so if you have one I'd definitely recommend it. I was very impressed with Morrigan's character in that game. I'm also curious about a dalish HoF worldstate, with a dalish inquisitor. Would love to know about any references in DA:I. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Hah, ty! Gotta credit Gilsa in the Blackwall thread for the Giles thing. Apparently, you can only find/talk to Giles after starting the Blackwall recruitment quest - but I believe she said you have to talk to Giles before you actually find Blackwall. If you don't do it before you recruit him, I believe you lose the chance to chat him up.

Ah that would be it. When I talked with Giles this time around it was quite early on, and I was nowhere near recruiting anyone else. Well. At least you'll have enough world states for all those romances I like that Mahariel is so connected to things going on even after the main story of DAO.

 

The one I've got on ps4 right now is just weird in that I picked a whole bunch of things at random that I didn't think would work (no magic lesbian baby for Morrigan; think they fixed that, haha), or that I don't usually do, then realised some of the DAO choices were actually almost the same as what I'd done recently. It's less weird on the DAO side now, since I changed some of it up to work a bit better with things I'd actually done (I'd sort of like to know what npc's are referring to when they say the HoF was a loon  ) but Hawke is still a bit all over the place. Quick list (that ended up not being so short after all...sorry) of the big stuff from the Keep:

HoF was a female Cousland. Generally, if someone was being annoying or she wanted something from them, they'd end up dead. So with that in mind...

Loghain was recruited, Alistair rules with Anora, Morrigan had OGB with Loghain (eugh awkward), and oddly enough got Flemeth's grimoire without killing her.

Everyone was recruited, Leliana was romanced and lived after defiling the Sacred Ashes, was Alistair's mistress - can't wait to see how that goes - and both their quests were done, with Marjolaine alive just to see if it makes a difference (spoilers: it doesn't).

Big decisions were siding with Branka, Harrowmont, Templars (somehow Dagna still went to study with them?), peace with elves and werewolves (didn't deal with Cammen and Gheyna because I hear Imshael offers him if you say you want virgins ), Conor alive and Isolde dead, Architect alive, Avernus doing whatever he wants, and Morrigan went through the eluvian alone.

 

For DA2, Hawke was an aggressive ass and managed to be friends with everyone. Because obviously that's how it works, right?

Romanced Merrill, Bethany's a Warden, Isabela came back and Hawke killed the Arishok for her (because even playing an ass I could never just hand her over ), Aveline married Donnic, Sebastian was recruited, Merrill's clan and eluvian are fine, Tallis was friendly, Fenris is fine, Bartrand's alive, Varric's bffs with Hawke, and - my personal favourite of "wait, what?" - approved of Anders' actions...then killed him.

Kind of flipped back and forth with mages/templars but it looks like it was slightly more helping mages, helped Qunari for the mostpart (Saemus, Ketojan, etc.), Feynriel is with the Dalish, Javaris is alive somehow which is unimportant but amusing given both characters' attitude of "let's just stab it and see what happens"

Dealt with the High Dragon, let Zev, Keran and Emile go, gave the conspirators to Orsino, and then - after approving of Anders blowing up the Chantry - sided with the Templars.

Icing on the cake? Gleefully let Coryfish go in the Legacy DLC.

Nery definitely has a thing for pink and purple. Her armors and weapons have usually been made at least partially of lazurite and dawnstone. Now I've got nevarrite too, so I guess Bull better watch out!

Alas likes are used up again. That sounds like a very interesting world state, particularly in DA2. Hawke really was kinda chaotic wasn't he? ...I like it. Thank you for sharing, I love seeing how other people set up their games.

I never played a game of DA:O where the warden ended up as Alistair's mistress. In the sole Alistair romance PT I did, the warden ended up dying with the archdemon. I wanted to see the funeral scene, which was very well done. I'll be curious to see how that turns out, too. Now the question is Alistair or Hawke in the Fade? 

 

Too funny about Cammen Being a total geek myself, I always got him together with the hot elf chick, heh. Another thing I never did was defile the Sacred Ashes. I'm amazed Leliana is still alive after that one -- magical mystical plot resurrection notwithstanding. I didn't think she could survive. I also never got Flemeth's Grimoire without killing Flemeth, and all my Cousland's were nice people, doing what's best for their fellow man kinda thing. Always figured Highever was just far enough away from everything that Bryce and Eleanor raised their kids the right way. They seemed like decent folks. 

 

I set up DA2 in Harold's game with Hawke as an aggressive ass as well, but he actually romanced Anders, and didn't kill him after he blew up the chantry. Sorry, I can't remember what was said about Anders' fate. He's hiding out somewhere, I think. But one thing I do remember and it was really kinda cool; when Harold asked Hawke about Anders, all he really said was, "It's complicated." But the way he said it was perfect. Kinda tired-sounding, kinda like he was still trying to figure it all out. 

 

Anyway, I like your choices. I've never sided with the templars in DA2 either, I'll be curious about that too.

I get the feeling Blackwall isn't ever gonna win too many arguments with Nery, hehe. Still, I definitely gotta take Varric out with us a bit more often... but what shoudl I do? Go without a mage? i'm finding that Cole really says cool stuff most of the time, so it'd be Dofni, Blackwall, Varric, and Cole. Sigh, I guess I'll just have to find some people for Cole to help now and then.

Turn the difficulty to NM, then run around with a couple 2h warriors and squishy rogues without barriers and let us know how it goes?

Or you could try fade-touched obsidian on the rogues. Or even just Cole. DW's fast enough, guard should build up fast enough that it wouldn't be a problem with Dofni and Blackwall doing most of the heavy lifting. You'd have a problem with energizing and veilfire, though.

I don't suppose Leliana was either If you harden her, there's an intimidate option to have her back down at the Sacred Ashes (something along the lines of "before you do something stupid, remember who I am." She doesn't take it well, but she won't turn on you) and I think a persuasion back at camp if you didn't bring her where you can lie. I've never done either. The only time I poisoned the Ashes, I ended up reloading as soon as I got the Reaver specialisation

 

It should be Loghain and Hawke in the Fade and I'm actually not sure who I'll choose. I've yet to see anything with Loghain in DAI, so we'll see. I'm hoping Morrigan mentions it, though.

This is the first time I've imported a murder-knifed Anders (as well as first time importing siding with the templars). I almost had him be the LI too, but a friendmanced Merrill with such an aggressive Hawke amused me enough I had to try it (and who can kill the LI? Talk about harsh). I'm curious what Hawke says if they executed Anders and romanced him, but I really like what you said about how he says "it's complicated."

There is a thread here somewhere on BSN that gives new information about characters not uploading to the Keep. Tried to find it to link it but - memory is shot to hell.

They said if you had installed and played DA2 before O, then you may have to uninstall both. Reinstall O and play to a save for your character.

 

Also having console command enabled and mods installed may also ferk everything up. They advised disabling console command and uninstalling all your mods. Pfft, yeah right.

You're trying to kill me.

Or you could try fade-touched obsidian on the rogues. Or even just Cole. DW's fast enough, guard should build up fast enough that it wouldn't be a problem with Dofni and Blackwall doing most of the heavy lifting. You'd have a problem with energizing and veilfire, though.

Fade-touched obsidian daggers is a great idea for Cole, though He's been killing things pretty quickly. He could be invincible. I'll definitely want him along for dragon fights. I do have four pieces of the stuff just waiting to be used.

Hmm, I remember the only reason I ever hardened Leliana was for a certain evening at The Pearl with Isabella (and sometimes Zevran)

Ah yes I forgot that the only way Alistair actually appears in person in DA:I is if he doesn't become king. This will be my first game with Loghain instead of Stroud. I've met him I'm Crestwood already and it was pretty cool. He said some interesting things. Gonna try and get Alistair to appear in my next game. I'm leaning towards leaving Loghain behind. I think he's ready, and besides... Hawke romanced Merrill. she can't die.

One difference in our choices is Feynriel. I've always sent him to Tevinter because I figure he's got some future role to play, and Tevinter is the best place for him to figure things out about what he does.

There is a thread here somewhere on BSN that gives new information about characters not uploading to the Keep. Tried to find it to link it but - memory is shot to hell.
They said if you had installed and played DA2 before O, then you may have to uninstall both. Reinstall O and play to a save for your character.

Also having console command enabled and mods installed may also ferk everything up. They advised disabling console command and uninstalling all your mods. Pfft, yeah right.

If anyone wants to hunt for it and link it, you would have my thanks.

I finished the game for the first time...yey.

The Boss fight with Corypheus is probably my third favorite in DA. So bad arse, right behind his boss fight in legacy and then the boss fight with Meredith in Dragon Age 2.
 

The boss fight with the Dragon was actually...a bit crap...though. Just wailing on the thing constantly with my blade of justice, though the end cutscene was cool.

 

Though I still have the end game party to go through...

Congrats! Gonna play it again with a different class/race combo, maybe different LI? I didn't mind the end fight either and I kinda figure the inquisitor is an experienced dragonslayer by the end anyway

Eventually.  But a lot of personal stuff is going on in my life right now so I might not get to play it again for a very....ong...time.  And the other thing is I played it on PS3.  So, since I enjoyed the game, I want to play it on a next gen console (PS4) next time.  But...different gender at least.  I mean I have four different Inquisitors I can play.  But may just do two of them.

 

And its funny that you should mention Dragon slaying since my Inquisitor sort of gave up on it...after eight...I think...no maybe just...6.  He just couldn't do it  He/ I felt so sorry for the creatures.

oh they were epic for sure but I think....which one was it...the one in the Emerald Graves it started limping and I was like, nope nope nope.  

 

And indeed.  Something to strive for again.
