There was a bit of DAO nostalgia in the air today. Cullen waxed nostalgic (and slightly bitter) about his time in previous Circles, and mentioned his regret in not patching things up with the Warden. I imagine that will feel rather sad on my dead Amell PT, but Surana is alive and kicking, so he can just write her a letter. Put a smiley face in, she’s not going to hold any grudges.
Then Solas imparted his thoughts on Adaar being a Knight Enchanter, playing some word games (she won the prize) and compared it to the Arcane Warriors. They’re not half as forgotten as you think, Solas, dear chum. Leliana and Sera were also feeling chatty about KE spec (has everyone been talking behind Adaar’s back or something), though it was mostly that Sera didn’t want people to find Adaar scary. It’s very sweet, but I think Sera’s fighting a losing battle on that front. People are very qunari = scary.
We decided to battle the final Emprise dragon today. It’s a chilly place, so everyone wrapped up warm.
Of course, when the dragon started spitting fire (and fire mines) everyone started feeling a little too warm. It was a slightly tricky fight, especially since Varric forgets he’s a ranged fighter. When Adaar goes in to chop its guard with a spirit blade, he always wants to follow! At least we were all still standing when the dragon fell. Not much left now until What Pride Has Wrought, and the finale. I’m not saving anything for in between this time, so maybe the ending will feel more dramatic.
We then headed around the Hissing Wastes to find out more about Fairel. I really must take Varric every time, since he’s the only one with interesting things to say about it. He and Sera have a lot in common: “elfy things, dwarfy things, bleugh”. I wonder how well they’ll get along when I eventually take them around together? I’ve decided that wyverns are very annoying. Adaar just wants to ride a nuggalope, but nooo, wyverns have to chase us all over the place. We finished off with the Sandy Howler. I considered letting her sleep, since she’s out here at the arse-end of nowhere, hurting nobody. But... the music. The music wanted me to do it. And I got a nice, shiny amulet of power for Varric.
Adaar also tracked down a gift for Josephine – a little ship. Funny, Hawke gave her lady love a tiny ship too, only that was a lot less classy. Not least because she found it in a pile of trash, rather than a shop.
A tiny woman named Rat said that Sutherland's crew were kidnapped. Adaar would like to help... but she's offered no quest or war table mission, so I'm kind of at a loss. All Rat says is "It's so hard to breathe up here, who do I talk to?" Adaar! Talk to Adaar!
I figured I’d have my dad and brother make a character each. I’d be playing them, since my brother lives in another country and my dad doesn’t game, but it seemed fun. My brother made a rugged dwarf warrior, to romance Josephine. He’d wanted to romance Sera and be an assassin. Swing-and-a-miss on both counts, lil bro. Meanwhile, my dad made a dual-wielding elf for Dorian. There wasn’t even any competition! Just based on what I’ve told him about the game, he’s convinced he and Dorian are kindred spirits.
