Today in the Inquisition, Dofni decided to take Blackwall, Cole, and Madame de Fer out for a pleasant stroll on the Storm Coast. There is nothing like rain and wind and brisk sea air and lightning-scorched earth for a stroll. Wait...
Did someone say
lightning-scorched earth? Oh... hello. Nice day for a walk, yes? If you don't mind, we'll... uhh... we'll just pass right on through. Won't be a moment.
Why, no... apologies, but we don't have anything to eat. We didn't really pack a picnic or anything. We thought... well, that is, we thought we might hunt a dragonling or two for lunch. Oh. I, er, I didn't know the dragonlings were your, ummm, kiddoes. I'm not surprised that you're upset, given that revelation.
Indeed, sometimes even the Inquisitor has to stand up and be accountable when she puts her foot in her mouth. We'll settle this the way things are almost always settled in Thedas. And then we'll see just which one of us
has lunch and which one us
is lunch.
Oh. Oooh. Ouch. That looked like it hurt. Did that hurt? It really looked painful. I think it hurt.
(Sidenote #1: See those two 'immunes' over dear Vinsomer's pretty little big gargantuan head? Yeah. Bad idea to bring a mage with a lightning staff to a fight with a lightning-bolt-shooting High Dragon ) (Sidenote #2: Not feeling those lightning strikes didn't stop dear Vinsomer from being annoyed enough to put up a full guard. Or to stop Madame de Fer from continuing to throw said lightning strikes. At least she kept the barriers up for all of us.) Attempt #1 to bite the Inquisitor's boyfriend in half.
Oh. Oooh. Ouch. That one looked like it hurt a little more than the last one. Did it? Never try to bite ther Inquisitor's boyfriend in half,
darling.
Uh, guys... guys? you think maybe we should take the High Dragon just a little bit more seriously? She looks a trifle more than annoyed now. In fact she looks about ready to fry us all.
Attempt #2 to bite the Inquisitor's boyfriend in half, with full guard no less. Ah well, can we blame her for being unable to resist that beard?
Of
course we can. She's in for it now. Once is unforgivable. Twice is unimaginable. Dofni hoped Corypheus was paying closing attention from whatever little corner of Thedas he'd hidden himself in. She hasn't forgotten Haven, you know. Go ahead, dear Vinsomer. Just
try and swat me away. Betcha can't do it.
(Sidenote #3: She couldn't, either
She ran away instead....... and then she commenced to fry us again. Ulp. Hell hath no two-handed-baseball-bat-swinging-fury like an Inquisitor scorned. Just
try and bite my boyfriend in half again, you b****!
(Sidenote #4: My favorite picture of the whole battle
) Ohhh yeah.
That one hurt.
Unfortunately it didn't hurt enough to end the fight early. It only hurt her enough to, ulp, fry us again...
And then to flap up a storm...
And finally, having learned not to make an attempt #3 to bite the Inquisitor's boyfriend in half, dear Vinsomer made attempt #1 to bite the Inquisitor in half.
And that's how well it worked out for her.
Then the gang visited the Shrine of Dumat, and the Lost Temple of Dirthamen. Ho Hum.
Wow.
Nothing else to say but wow. If anyone wants my recommendation to fight a dragon as a 2H warrior, you have it! I faced ten dragons as a knight-enchanter with practically unlimited guard and barriers. My tempest archer dispatched ten dragons almost before the battles had begun. Epic and enjoyable, every single fight, no question.
But...
Taking on Vinsomer as a 2H warrior, knowing that she is one level higher than me, and two levels higher than my companions, and that the
only pre-battle preparation we made was to equip Cole and Viv with Belts of Enhanced Electrical Resistance... that was
awesome.
Man, I remember back when the gang first visited the Storm Coast and watched Vinsomer fight a giant, and Dofni was nowhere near the warrior she is now, and I was nowhere near as used to playing a warrior as I am now, and I thought, 'Crap. I dunno if I'm looking forward to this fight later'.
Totally worth it.
And now we're ready for the Emerald Graves. There's a Greater Mistral waiting for us.
