The thought of knowing that my Inquisitor drunk from the Well of Sorrows bothered me so much that I decided not to drink from it in this story. Being forever bound to Mythal would mean she'd have to be obedient to the end. :o

Oh and I recently just started my Male Dwarf/Warrior playthrough. I took so long trying to decide if I should put Face tattoos or not, and what kind of complexion I should take. Not sure if I am still satisfied with my choice of complexion. Inquisitor Male Dwarfs for some reason just do not look good without a beard, and good thing I don't object to the idea of having my male dwarf having a beard. I plan for a Cassandra Romance this time...

Well I looked on the positive side for my female human mage when i drank the well. I had control of a rare ancient dragon that has been in hiding for YEARS. Riding the thing in such epic fashion beats riding a horse any day.

I've had some thoughts on this issue lately. A lot even.

What's actually happening with Morrigan? Symbolically, if you draw parallels to our real life?
I don't think it's so complicated, as all stories like this have roots in basic needs and behavior.

To me Morrigan stands for the relationship between mother and daughter. Becoming an independent adult/grown up woman.
Morrigan wants to test life on her own and leaves her mother's wisdom. The struggle to get free from the mother and be a woman her self.

Flemeth says in the their final meeting at her altar, that she was never in any danger from her.
The question is if Flemeth actually was looking for Morrigan? I don't think so.

You can say the game in considerable degree creates a major adventure and mystery of this relationship. But aren't they just exaggerating a completely normal thing? It would be the answer why everyone is fascinated about it. A simple psycological mechanism enlarged in a game?

Aside from that you always have to think about the politics of Bioware. They definetely turned into a company who's affraid to scare any potential customers away by moving into areas where you get appauled in any way. Their games have become more and more 'clean' along the way. Am I right? They are more or less neutral Hollywood soap operas where small problems do not exceed the majority's morale. The customers decide their politics. There are no seriously bad dilemmas in their games.
You can measure this by the sexual freedom. Bisexuality, homosexuality, women who lives as men. There are no real race discrimination to be found. Even elves are shown as pride and free people despite they are being treated as a lower race (to show how racism works). Everything in the game turns towards balance and peace.

Same goes with Morrigan and Flemeth. I have a feeling they will make up and live happily ever after. Maybe not in this game, but later. We will probably see Morrigan wheep a flood of tears when she finds out that her mother only cared for her, and did everything to make her a strong daugther able to withstand almost everything in life.

"To be bound to Mythal forever".
Isn't that the right thing to be? Why discharge the inheritage from your parents?
Flemeth adopted Morrigan. True. But maybe she just wanted to raise a daughter. Just like any other woman has her instincts?

"Taking over the body of her daughters"? What this means was never explained by Bioware. Was that what happened at the Well of Sorrows?

But, of course, if one wishes to mystify this it can be done. Who doesn't love to see big mysteries everywhere?

But whoever created the Morrigan character probably had very simple ideas behind it - conscious or not conscious.

Anyway - when you need a break

or await the DLC's to arrive:

What do you play in the meanwhile?

I have exhausted Skyrim I think. I can't squeeze any more out of the game. I tried some days ago. I remembered every single pixel in the game.
Mass Effect as well. I know every single dialogue and outcome.
Witcher 2? Maybe. But I also know the story and variatons.
Dragon Age Origins? I played it ten times now. Same goes here.
Tombraider (2013) four times.
Bioshock Infinite
Assasins Creed
Dark Souls
Deux Ex
Dreamfall
Neverwinters Night
Fallout
Half-Life
Risen
Dungeon Siege
Dishonored

Is there any game I could enjoy worth the time?

I just seem to have reached the limit for good games. Or didn't I look in the right places?

Baldur's Gate? With old boring graphics?
Star Wars?

Farcry 4 is my I-need-a-break game at the moment. It's open-world, and though it does have a plot, I'll be ****ed if I know what it is beyond "kill the bad guys before they kill you" I spent two hours the other night just jumping off a bridge to practice my wingsuit skills, and a fair bit of time tonight exploding any passing enemy trucks I came across -- and there were many -- with one hand on a grenade launcher, and the other on the steering wheel of my own truck. It's even more fun than it sounds. B)

I'm also somewhat interested in Dying Light but I haven't bought it yet. My "disposable-income-for-games" fund is a wee bit depleted at the moment. I'm hoping for a steam sale soon, but given that it's a fairly new game, we probably won't see a sale on that for a while.

If it's RPGs you're looking for, then the oldschool infinity-engine-type look of "Pillars of Eternity" might be something you're interested in. It's due to be released in just under two weeks (March 26) and is made by Obsidian Entertainment.

I've an eye on 'Pillars of Eternity'. It's on my watch list.

I've preordered Witcher 3. Just waiting.

Farcry 4?
Many people here mention it. Maybe it's worth a look?

I'm not into strategy or shooting games anymore. I'm too old for this now *cough*.

It's either adventure or RPG. But with good graphics and story.

The Talos Principle?
Divinity?
Lost Planet?
Alien: Isolation?
Game Of Thrones?
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor?

Maybe 'Ryse: Son of Rome'?

Bah, you're never too old to explode rhinos with grenade launchers or to go fishing with c-4, or to hunt tigers with a bow, or release a caged elephant into the middle of an enemy fortress and sit back and laugh while it rampages. :D ... And honestly, if none of that sells you then I have just one word for you: Wing. Suit. :P

I forgot to add I'm also quite interested in the Zombie Army Trilogy. Check out the steam trailers for that, heh.

And of course, if you haven't played South Park: The Stick of Truth yet, then you haven't played a RPG.

He he... I actually had a friend who once fished with handgrantes in the local waters. He was...ahem...special.

Divinity: Original Sin has a very nice romance options. Not in the traditional way like "Are you finished so I can get laid?"
It's all about sharing / relationships.

I am tempted.

I don't think the game will conquer me like DAI, DAO, Witcher etc. I played Dungeon Siege a lot once. But I need something to relax by. And they say it has tons of stuff to explore and craft from.

In divinity you have a characters that would argue with you, agree with you, disagree with you, help you out, abandon you, question you and try to outsmart you.

Just like real relationships. And it is roleplay I'm looking for and not sex. It's only 39.99 bucks? Hm...

If those games are some of the ones you are wondering if they are any good I highly highly recommend Infinite.  Phenomanal game.

Been a while since I posted. I hadn't had a lot of time to sit and play in the last couple of weeks. But yesterday was a lazy Sunday and I played for probably close to 5 hours straight. Got a lot done. I finished off the last remaining quests I felt were important in the Storm Coast and the Exalted Plains; and then proceeded to finish the last half of the Western Approach. After completing those, I also finished Cassandra's inner circle quest and Blackwall's quest.

And then it was off to the Abyss. Elora, Solas, Cassandra, Cole, Stroud, and Hawke fell into the Fade. Elora got her memories back and also, possibly met the Divine. If that's who she really was. But we made it out alive thanks to Hawke's sacrifice. Gave Varric a hug and offered condolences.

Elora, ever swayed by Solas and her feelings for him, decided the Grey Wardens should be exiled. But Blackwall continues to aid us. Livius Erimond was beheaded for his crimes, and Ser Ruth was exiled along with her fellow Wardens. I then did Blackwall's Revelation side quest and decided he could go free and repay his debt by helping the Inquisition.

Whew. What a busy day!

No, lol, this is some of the games I played. I tried a lot more but didn't find them interesting. I even ditched Wither (the first) due to bad graphics and controls. Who plays Batman Archam City? Phew...

I agree. Bioshock Infinite was very special. Very indeed.

I dropped the Divinity idea. Pillars of Eternity will arive within a week. I'll survive until then. I can't find anything that can work as a relaxing game. I demand too much.
I want high detailled graphics. I'm not the slightest interested in strategy or first person shooters. Adventure games can be ok, as long as you can chose gender and looks.

Or maybe I have become spoiled? Even Skyrim can't satisfy me after experiencing the DAI standards.

Instead I upgraded DAI to Patch 5 and had a look at my wall at the Dragon Age Keep. But it's hard figuring out how this actually works.
I played all games including all DLC, addon's etc. But the stats doesn't show up correctly. Only my latest DA 2. I was able to edit my DAO stats though.

Today I realised after 31 hours into my latest playthrough, with a great looking Inquisitor which I was completely happy with... I'd screwed up in the Keep with one minor tile and so Carver was now a Templar, not a Warden as he was meant to be?! Which my perfectionist streak cannot stand, meaning that I'll probably abandon this playthrough simply because it'll bug me for the next hundred hours if I continue on?

And somewhere, the Dread Wolf is laughing...

I never had this one before.

Ok ok ok... Let's start from the beginning.

In was wondering why the romance with Josephine didn't trigger. I travelled to Val Royeaux, looked at the War table, talked with her a dozen times. Nothing.

Well, that's...wierd.

Wait! It's probably because I let my inquisitor kiss Solas in the dream were they went to Haven, I thought.
Have to end it with Solas. Somehow.
Nope, Solas just had more to tell. No break up option.

Hm... Good advice doesn't come cheap.

Sera? Could it be her?
Must be! Off to Sera.
But she wanted to make practical jokes on everyone. Water bucket over Josephine's door, and what do I know. She did have morale high enough not to read Leliana's private stuff though.
Could this be the initiated romance?
Ok, I go along with Sera then. Didn't romance her before. It's probably fun.

On my way I went to see Cassandra.
She was sitting reading Varric's "smutty litterature", as the called it.

Off to Varric. Let's get it over with.

But Varric was not in the mood talking about books. Instead he urged me to follow him. What could I do, so I did.

He dragged me to the Herald's Rest where the others were waiting.

A game of wicked grace perhaps?

Sure, why not?

And so we did...

I've read somewhere that the dialogue options with your companions disappear after doing the final mission, which I'm about to.

So I tried to fully explore the conversation with each of them. That made me realize I'd rarely stopped to talk to anyone during this playthrough.

It was also extremelly painful and tiresome. A whole hour listening to them.

And then I didn't like some dialogue options I picked and reloaded the save file.

Ughhhh my head hurts.

The downside to having 9 companions and 3 advisors, I suppose  :P The PS4 auto-saves every minute or so (usually before the conversation ends but after I choose the wrong option. Naturally) and the PS3 saves about once every 25 years, so you have my sympathy for having to reload.

Anyway, yeah, that's correct. After defeating the Big Bad the companions/advisors have one brief post-game thing to say, then just generic greetings afterwards. You'll need to do all Companion related conversations, quests and War Table (I think?) missions you want done before the endgame. This includes if one of them, say, isn't who they claim to be and gets arrested - if you don't do what's required to re-recruit them before the end, you'll miss your chance and they'll just...sort of...rot in prison. Unless that's what you're going for. In which case, problem solved?

The thought of needing to complete almost every side quest and grabbing schematics from RNG looties really discourages new playthroughs. I have no idea why BioWare thought it was good to make this game 75% Side Quest. If there wasn't a Power system and all enemies scale to your level, DA:I would hardly last 5 hours of gameplay.

@Imanol: Have you already decided which side you will choose? Seems as though you're leaning towards the mages, which makes sense for a circle mage, in a way. I'm planning on an elf mage for my next PT and still not sure how I want to play it.

I have already decided which side I have chosen, though I am not going to post a reveal until I play the mission, gather some shots (I highly recommend this for PC users  ), and write up a nice summary.

And with regards to your elf and the Mage-Templar conflict, a typical Dalish elf would lean towards the mages for obvious reasons.  However, there are plenty of justified reasons for one to side with the Templars. A major one could be that you believe they serve a useful role and wish to reform them to serve a greater purpose in which they are beholden to all people, rather than only to the Chantry.

Also, if your character is aiming to please, impress, and gain the trust of the shemlen, the KE specialization would be the way to go due to its prestige.

Yes, don't finish the game before you are satisfied with your results.

This is one major bummer Bioware made. The game is absolutely dead after 'Doom upon All the World'.
God, I really hate when game developers wants to force you to do everything eactly as they like. I despite the lack of freedom in a game:

"If you don't do exactly as we want you to do we will ruin the game for you and make it boring and poor. You have to learn that we are the only ones who knows how a game should be. Period!"

Bah!

No, not quite true. The quests you have initiated before the last map will be open to finish. But you will not get new quests. You can't trigger a single one.

You know its things like the card game that make BioWare my favorite gaming company.  Very few companies do 'small character moments' in there game.  In fact the only other one I can really recall seeing is the one between whats her face (bad at names :( ) and Nathan Drake in Uncharted 3 after he gets to the Middle East he takes a very weary moment and rests on her leg.

Hmm, I bought Skyrim on launch day and still haven't finished it. Played 150-200 hrs maybe and got bored. Or overwhelmed. Not sure which. Never started the main quest line. Plus I hated how my character looked - I kept a helmet on her at all times. :P

Still have a couple Origins to complete, when I get around to it. Never finished City Elf or Mage Elf.

ME I have played to death but will likely go back to it when I'm tired of DAI.

Played NWN and NWN2 (+expansions) for hours upon hours. Not even DAI's horrible PC controls can match the abomination that is the NWN2 interface.

Have both Witcher and Witcher II from Gog, but haven't played them yet.

Have Dreamfall, haven't played it

Have Dishonored, haven't played it.

Have you played KOTOR or KOTOR II? I played them for the first time last summer and thought they were pretty good. Maybe a bit dated in the graphics department, but that didn't bother me. KII was a little on the weird side though, even with the restored content mod.

This includes if one of them, say, isn't who they claim to be and gets arrested - if you don't do what's required to re-recruit them before the end, you'll miss your chance and they'll just...sort of...rot in prison. Unless that's what you're going for. In which case, problem solved?

Yeah, the companions aren't very chatty once you save the world. <_<  Talking to Cole after end game made me really not like Solas. And I do like Solas, most of the time. But that is just....ugh. Mr. "Spirits are people, spirits are my friends, I would never bind a spirit....blah blah biddy blah," does something even worse.

Spoiler
And no, Dread Wolf, the People don't need you, not any more. He just gets more full of himself the more sh*t that goes wrong. After seeing that scene with Cole, I was glad his stupid orb was destroyed. Now he can't use it to cause some other calamity.

Off soapbox now.

A couple final thoughts on finishing my last game:

1. When meeting Flemeth in the Fade, she said something like, "As long as the music plays, we dance." I'm sure I've heard her say that line before, but this time I was immediately struck by, what music? The song the darkspawn hear the Old Gods sing? Hmmm.....

2. At the final battle with Corypheus, when Inqui finally gets to say something, Olinar didn't have the option to say, "I don't believe in gods." A result of him drinking from the Well? It's not an elfy thing since my other one said that line. Just wondering.

I leveled my Diviner in TQ:IT underlord mod. Nothing like summoning a Liche King and Nightmare to fight as your allies.
