It's one of the few places of sanity on the forums for right now. One of the other threads I hang out in has debates from time to time, but nothing too dramatic for the most part. I am excited for the potential DLC.
I feel like this is the only place where I can express how much I love this game. It has some flaws, some pacing problems, some bugs (that I've run into, dear gods,) as well as a myriad of other things that are covered in many threads in the forums. It's a fantastic game, overall and if this is the first attempt on the Frostbite engine, then they did a pretty good job.
I can be a big fan of this game here and not get flamed for it. It's a great thing and really difficult to find on the DA forums right now. Thanks for starting this thread hun. I owe you a like.
Well... 'sanity' might be a bit of a stretch.... J/K, I have met some wonderful people here. I don't talk to them all as often as I'd like to -- apologies for that everybody! i try! -- but I am happy to call them all friends, and grateful that they continue to make this a fun thread to be a part of.
Thank you for the kind words, too. You're part of that group too, and I'm glad you feel that way about being a part of it. You can always come here for a sanity check. Someone is bound to have one around here somewhere
I played around with the CC a bit and made some characters
. I can only imagine how many characters I now have in the Keep...
. The CC has its flaws, but I still have a lot of fun making characters in it, heh.
I love those Natalie Portman Inkys! ![]()
How do you do it?? I must know your secrets!
I'm about to head into the CC myself and try and create an Adaar for my next PT. I usually wait until I'm done with the current game -- Dofni in this case -- but I'm feeling inspired today. All these wonderful Inkys of yours totally don't make me feel any pressure either

I can tell you that the Bearhead Pit is the most lovely place in all of Thedas
It's hidden on some rocks. There ya go:
Spoiler
Many thanks! Next time I load up Dofni's game I'll head right over there. For this I'm sure Morrigan won't mind waiting a little longer.
EDIT: Update...
LOL at "Dofni's Dwarfy Duds"
First time I've been able to use the Legion of the Dead Armor. It deserves a special name ![]()

Today, the humans took me captive because they thought I was responsible for the hole in the sky. Not all Dalish are the result of a bad omen. I told Keeper Deshanna that it was a bad idea to get involved into the humans political problem, but no one ever listens to Cesila. I’ve always tried to protect my clan, so I just don’t get why they didn’t heed my advice on this situation.
A tough human lady decided to give me a chance to go to the Breach, but I could tell from her sharp looks toward me that she didn’t fully trust me. Which came to be very clear, when I picked up a sword and shield to fight off some demons. She aimed her sword at me, ready to strike me down for the good of the people. Her arm was shaking the whole time, so I knew she wasn’t going to do it. She didn’t expect the little elf woman to snap back at her… or maybe she knew I was the only one able to close the Breach.
We made our way to the first rift that had demons pour out of them. I haven’t ever seen something so beautiful, but deadly at the same time. From the light green, I had begun reminiscing about a forest that I used to play in a lot as a little girl. No other forest compared to that beauty.
The bald elf, Solas, helped me mend the rift. He seemed to know a great deal about the rift, which was very informative, but I was still confused in the midst of everything to truly listen. There was a dwarf named Varric. He was very kind and funny, which was a good thing to help me keep my feet on the ground.
*
We’d finally made it to the redheaded human, but by the time we got there, I was shaken even more in my boots. Things were moving way to fast for me, and I just wanted the Creators to help me stay sane during that time. The human Chancellor wanted to send me to get executed, but the tough human lady quickly put him in his place. I made sure that they acknowledge my existence. Humans really don’t care about no one but their selves. Even the humans we were friendly with back in my clan always wanted more than they could afford. We may be friendly and peaceful, but that doesn’t mean take advantage of. In midst of thinking about all of that, everyone was looking at me. I would usually always zone out during important times like that. They actually wanted my opinion on what to do next. I was about to tell them to put me on the nearest ship back to the Free Marches, but I doubt the tough human lady would smile at my suggestion. So I'd thought about what she would do in this situation, and she seemed like the type to just ram right through the front door, so I went with storming the front gate. By the loosing of her cheek, she maybe approved of my decision.
There were strange visions in the Temple, which was added more nonsense to an already confused Cesila. We had to open the Breach in order to close it, but were going to be some demons coming out of the Breach. A Pride demon, which was something that I’d only heard about.
I was fighting all of these demons, when I’d only fought wolves before.
Somehow, I managed to defeat the Pride demon, but probably because of the help from the mini army. Things after that got a bit blur, maybe I’ll remember soon….

Meh, it seems there's something wrong with my video card. I still get WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERRORs after doing a full reinstall of my system.
They used to appear almost solely in DA:I, but lately I have been getting them a lot, even when streaming videos.
Now I feel myself kinda hoping the thing's really broken, and I can hassle the guys I bought the computer from to cheaply give me a better one.
I did some checking for you. If you run Windows 8, the problem is one of the latest updates, not your video card. Microsoft pulled it, so you might want to check for any revised updates.

Went to the Hinterlands to speak with Mother Flowzell(Giselle), and completed a bunch nonsense. Some agents were recruited into the Inquisition along with 3 new squad mates: Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Blackwall.
Traveled to Redcliffe to meet Enchanter Fiona who seemed oblivious of Thegrath when they encountered each other back in Val Royeaux. Confused of the situation, Gereon Alexius intrudes into the conversation and claims that the rebellious mages were allied with Tevinter forces. Before negotiations could proceed, Felix, Gereon Alexius's son, feigns illness and almost falls to the floor but Thegrath catches him. Worried about Felix's health, Gereon Alexius ends the negotiations and asks us to meet him at Redcliffe castle. As the two left along with the accompanying guards, Thegrath looks down to his large right dwarf hand and sees that Felix left him a message saying that Thegrath's life is in danger and that he should head to the Redcliffe Chantry. Upon arrival at the Chantry, Dorian Pavus is seen stealing the spotlight and killing demons with his staff. Noticing Thegrath and his party have arrived, Dorian asks them to help him seal the rift inside the Chantry...
P.S.: It seems that Thegrath looks much older under darker lighting. Every created character I've ever made in BioWares games were always brunette by the way.

Way, waay offtopic.. but eh
Do any of you guys and gals know how to change the default folder where your screenshots are saved? I kinda want them on my other, larger hard disk. I could, of course, do the Steam/Origin Inception thing I've done before for Mass Effect, but it'd be nice to just redirect the in game screenshot function to a different folder.
Speaking of Mass Effect... I had an itch yesterday. I think it will get stronger over the coming months
.
Are you familiar with the application called 'Total Commander'?
I have used this since I got my very first PC. It hasn't changed a lot along the years. In the beginning it was named 'Norton Commander'.
It was very useful when I operated in DOS. It is a very strong application that lets you have command over Windows as it uses the remnances of the DOS system (command prompt as you run it from 'Start --> Run).
I wasn't to strong in DOS, so I used this in terms to get complete control.
Today you can get 64-bit versions of Total Commander. It is free. The only thing you have to live with is selecting 1, 2 or 3 when you start it. This is for unregistered installations. But it doesn't matter. The application works fine this way.
The handy thing is that you have two windows to watch at the same time. This can be two different drives. You can move, copy, rename etc. very easily.
It has built in editors and viewers for many files. You can unpack the different *.rar, *.zip, *,7z etc. And you can look inside files before you decide what to do.
You can set file attributes or remove them. You can delete files surpassing Windows security walls. You can even delete Windows it self if you wish ![]()
You can upload to FTP etc.
It has so many feature even I don't know of during my 20 years of use.
I can't live without this application. I fell completely handicapped.
I don't know if it is only used by pro's, webmasters and oldschool today. But it is extremely powerful.
I use it every day. When I move files I activate it and move my files.
And do you know what I use it for the most? Moving screenshots from C:\ to another location.

Wait wait wait....you can get the game to take screenshots for you??!
Please tell me how to work this wondrous magic! Do you have to have cloud storage on for it to work?
.
If you are on a PC the path is here:
c:\Users\yourusername\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Screenshots\
Just hit Print Scrn / SysRq during play.
You don't need any cloud or anything. It's just plain screenshots. Bioware chosed *.png for this game. Good choice.
*
If you are really going into screenshots you should get FRAPS. This is a pro tool for making videos and screenshots but extremely simple and easy to use. Configure a button to activate and chose a folder to store. That's it.
I already have1203 screenshots of my new mage playthrough in DAO.

I would also add that you should make a copy and backup your screenshots folder from time to time. For about 950 screenshots, I was at 1.9 gig before I moved everything after Val was finished. This not only clears up room on your primary drive, it's easier to organize into different story segments.
*.png files do make for some great HD screenshots. ![]()

I do make backup...occasionally *cough*
No, I bought some external hard drives to store my game stuff, movies and photos on. But that isn't always good enough.
The newest 3 TB I bought crashed within the first two month. A drive where I stored documents and stuff since 1995. All gone. The disc couldn't read the registration database anymore. I think it was a bad head and arm who gave up. The file-allocation table is wasted. Manufactory error. I lost 1,5 TB of data ![]()
The screenshots are heavy these days. Between 1 and 5 MB.
But yes. It's a very good idea to move your screenshots. My latest 1203 shots from DAO is 4,5 GB. If you don't move them you'll end up with no space in a very short time. And somehow Windows doesn't work that well if it needs space.

Appreciate you asking, Mike, so that no one has to wonder: I have no problem at all with people posting pics, or talking about, what they did in the other two DA games in here as well. Please feel free to do so everyone

So...Spork?
Did you change the name of the thread by any chance?
You just do this because you get a sudden idea? And you ditch the very foundation this thread is built upon? Have you no shame?
Where's tradition and morale?
We really have to discuss this more seriously. You can't just change the subject and leave everyone out of the decission? After all we have a club here, don't we?
What about democracy and community values and all that stuff?
The three main games are connected, so...
I think it's a very good idea. We can't keep on talking about duplicate experiences forever. The subjects run dry.
Well done!
It's a good thread to be honest. Instead of spreading your activities around the entire site you use this thread as you base. It gets confusing taking part in many different threads. Usually the debates also ends down the drain due to overpopulation and irrelevant comments.

I've had some thoughts on this issue lately. A lot even.
What's actually happening with Morrigan? Symbolically, if you draw parallels to our real life?
I don't think it's so complicated, as all stories like this have roots in basic needs and behavior.
To me Morrigan stands for the relationship between mother and daughter. Becoming an independent adult/grown up woman.
Morrigan wants to test life on her own and leaves her mother's wisdom. The struggle to get free from the mother and be a woman her self.
Flemeth says in the their final meeting at her altar, that she was never in any danger from her.
The question is if Flemeth actually was looking for Morrigan? I don't think so.
You can say the game in considerable degree creates a major adventure and mystery of this relationship. But aren't they just exaggerating a completely normal thing? It would be the answer why everyone is fascinated about it. A simple psycological mechanism enlarged in a game?
Aside from that you always have to think about the politics of Bioware. They definetely turned into a company who's affraid to scare any potential customers away by moving into areas where you get appauled in any way. Their games have become more and more 'clean' along the way. Am I right? They are more or less neutral Hollywood soap operas where small problems do not exceed the majority's morale. The customers decide their politics. There are no seriously bad dilemmas in their games.
You can measure this by the sexual freedom. Bisexuality, homosexuality, women who lives as men. There are no real race discrimination to be found. Even elves are shown as pride and free people despite they are being treated as a lower race (to show how racism works). Everything in the game turns towards balance and peace.
Same goes with Morrigan and Flemeth. I have a feeling they will make up and live happily ever after. Maybe not in this game, but later. We will probably see Morrigan wheep a flood of tears when she finds out that her mother only cared for her, and did everything to make her a strong daugther able to withstand almost everything in life.
"To be bound to Mythal forever".
Isn't that the right thing to be? Why discharge the inheritage from your parents?
Flemeth adopted Morrigan. True. But maybe she just wanted to raise a daughter. Just like any other woman has her instincts?
"Taking over the body of her daughters"? What this means was never explained by Bioware. Was that what happened at the Well of Sorrows?
But, of course, if one wishes to mystify this it can be done. Who doesn't love to see big mysteries everywhere?
But whoever created the Morrigan character probably had very simple ideas behind it - conscious or not conscious.
Well I always had a soft spot for Morrigan and frankly she should have her freedom and as she said to Flemeth that she would be a better mother than Flemeth. Having her permanetly under her mother's control I feel is kind of wrong but however the thing is she always wanted the fountains power for her own reasons. Also one of the reasons why I do allow her to take the fountain is for my character to stay in character. I try to not break my character's personality. I do completly agree with everything you said Mushashi 7 and it's how I feel about her too.
Anyway - when you need a break
or await the DLC's to arrive:
What do you play in the meanwhile?
I have exhausted Skyrim I think. I can't squeeze any more out of the game. I tried some days ago. I remembered every single pixel in the game.
Mass Effect as well. I know every single dialogue and outcome.
Witcher 2? Maybe. But I also know the story and variatons.
Dragon Age Origins? I played it ten times now. Same goes here.
Tombraider (2013) four times.
Bioshock Infinite
Assasins Creed
Dark Souls
Deux Ex
Dreamfall
Neverwinters Night
Fallout
Half-Life
Risen
Dungeon Siege
Dishonored
Is there any game I could enjoy worth the time?
I just seem to have reached the limit for good games. Or didn't I look in the right places?
Baldur's Gate? With old boring graphics?
Star Wars?
BIOSHOCK INFINITE was good. i finished it some time last year and felt it was way better than BIOSHOCK 1. Final stand was a bit meh (like BIOSHOCK 1) but ending was as cool as BIOSHOCK 1.
ASSASSIN'S CREED was good. The franchise has been flakey to me though. 2 was meh, BROTHERHOOD and the one after that was good. 3 was so/so. 4 started out good then stunk after I found every secret before really concentrating on the main story. I haven't tried LIBERATION yet. It sounds like VELVET ASSASSIN in some aspects.
I've been meaning to try the new Deus Ex (God In The) game to see if it's better than one of the PS 2 versions I played because I hated it. i mean seriously what part of "i have shot you with a sniper rifle to kill you so you don't know where I am" don't you understand?
FALLOUT is awesome. I still have it (and 2) on my PC. Sadly I never beat it. I did beat 3. I still wonder about the ONLINE game. I'm still mad at BETHESDA for what they did. ****en BETHESDA.
Half Life was awesome. It took me a whole month to beat it.
The other games I heard of and never played.

We headed into the Western Approach today, one of my favourite places (even if everyone's too quiet here!). The party is gradually exploring the area: collecting new loot, following a Chantry trail, choking in some acid fog. We found some empty cages that are pretty ominous - could that have anything to do with the Venatori?
There were some in the Still Ruins. Dorian the Explorian shared some thoughts about the time-standing-still situation, which Sera wanted to nope right out of. First PT through there was very unnerving, I kept thinking time would unfreeze at any moment... so I get where she's coming from! Trev found a staff that just wanted him to own it. Sera warned him not to touch it, but he did it anyway. She's been in a bit of a mood since then!
Dorian told Sera that she's not like other elves. She basically said: "durr, all the others you met were slaves." When he admitted it, and said he was glad to have met her, she said "big surprise, people are people." Aww, don't pretend that didn't warm your heart, Sera. Dorian's suprisingly open about caring for people. I'm sure it's pretty obvious, but I'm really starting to love that guy. ![]()
People are not what they seem in the Approach. We were fighting some White Claw Raiders, and whittled the group down to just one rogue woman... who said in a very grizzled and manly voice: "Kill the damn warrior!" ![]()
The person who gave us the job was a very friendly chap named Frederic. Suspiciously friendly, actually. How has he managed to survive out here in the hostile wilderness? Raiders, hyenas, darkspawn, Venatori, quillbacks, phoenixes, varghrests, a dragon... am I missing anything? The guy must have incredible luck! And possible sunstroke. Wearing a mask and hat is a good idea out in the baking sunshine. Good job Trev didn't take Cole or the poor spirit would come back looking like sundried tomatoes. Maybe he'll have to get Sera a hat to cover up that fair complexion. Trev won't be getting tips from Vivienne though. She'd probably recommend putting a live wyvern on Sera's head, just for the giggles. ![]()
Trev headed back to Skyhold to tease Cassandra about her book and ask about her Seeker abilities. She said: "I can inflame the lyrium in a person's veins. Mages and templars bend to my will." I can think of one in particular who'd be happy to. ![]()
Cole said that he doesn't like what Trev is doing so far and might leave.
We'd better head back to the Hinterlands soon and make him happy. Sera wanted to pull some pranks, so Trev obliged his strange friend. Once it was complete, the minstrel broke into "Sera Was Never". Perfect timing! It's been a while since I heard my favourite song!
He was introduced to Commander Up Her Own Arse Helaine. She thinks very highly of herself, despite not being able to prove her credentials. All the same, Trev wants to be a knight enchanter. If Vivienne does it, it must be the right way to get ahead. Plus, big swords! Ah, sometimes, he's just a little boy at heart. ![]()
Unfortunately, that means we're off to the Fallow Mire next. Dooooorian, where are you? ![]()

Ugh...I swear the heat is killing me at work. Anyhoo I have touched Chasimess and my new guy on DAI for a bit. Chasimess i decided to do the whole Du Paraquites thing.

I spared the assassin and treated him fairly. I think the only time I killed him was with Vyre? I did it because she's just unfamiliar to "orliasian politics". I am still having problems with the mire for Chasimess but I hit Crestwood surprisingly very well. I croaked a few portals, did two astriums, and found that one missing woman.
Here's my new guy Melltelwin. He's a human sw/sh human warrior:

He's still in the prolog. I am tempted to do a dwarf at some point. I made two way back in DOA and was proud in making them but I deleted them because I got tired of playing DAO and wanted to save some room for future game saves for other games (including DAI).

It's a good thing to open the thread for the previous games. I think many will start all over when they find out how the Keep works. And curiosity killed the cat.
I started again. With a mage. The story is a bit different.
' Tis nice, as Morrigan would say.
Starting in the mage Tower at Lake Callenhad with a different story and background. The main story is the same, but the experience and the point of view is different.
We are about to enter the inner Kinloch Hold. Wynne is on the team now with Morrigan and Alistair.
There's an important meeting on the second floor with some hooligans who wretched the place. Youth now a days...

"I have something for you."
Morrigan was close to become quite annoyed when I questioned the ring she wanted me to have. A ring her mother gave her. Wearing it Flemeth could always find Morrigan if anything should happen to her. Now she thought I should have this ring.
When I asked her why she answered since I gave her all the equipment it was only fair she gave me something in return. I was such an 'important person she would not risk to loose'.
And there was nothing else hidden in this geature?
"I... have no interest in us part company so soon."
"Oh, I see... Well, thank you for this gift!"
"You are welcome. Shall we proceed?"

I think he looks great! He looks like a truly seasoned warrior, and not that old. He looks like he's in his late 30s. I also 100% approve of his scars. Please, don't change his complexion when the Black Emporium comes out. That looks like a proud veteran of some real battles.
I don't disagree with that either.
And his scars were the preset scars on the first customizable head with some minor fixes and a bit a more intensity to them. I think I'm content about the complexion since it was hard to find one that I was completely satisfied with. I wanted one that showed aging, but not to the point where he'll look over 50. As for the beard, there were too many obvious choices, but I picked this one because dwarf men look awkward without them.
