Lots to report in Inquisition, today, but first I want to chime in, too, and say thanks for the wonderful thread!  :D I'm Commander Shepard Nightingale, and this is my favourite thread on the Citadel BSN  B)

Now then, to start off, the best screenshot I've ever managed to get:

Spoiler

Ahem. But more seriously, Revas and crew finally decided to advance the main plot head to Adamant. Killing Wardens? Horrible. Saving some of the Wardens then having your point proven by an Archdemon attacking? Also horrible, but in an "I told you so" sort of way.

Spoiler

After spending forever fighting through Pride demons, the group was rewarded by getting thrown physically into the Fade. Again.

Spoiler

More difficult fights, but the group also ran into the Divine! Cassandra was shocked, of course, and Hawke was oddly angry in between jokes. Dorian took the whole thing in stride, naturally, but Varric wasn't hugely fond of the Fade; surprise, surprise - the last time he was here with Hawke, everyone turned on her...including him. Yikes. Revas was relieved the same did not happen to her. The Nightmare tried to get under everyone's skin ("I mistook you for your father, Dorian" "this is your fault, Varric" "Isabela's going to die and nothing you did mattered, Hawke" "The Maker doesn't exist, Seeker"), but everyone just sassed him ("well, that's going to grow tiresome") and he gave up after a while. It was also revealed...the mark is not from Andraste, it's simply a magical accident. Revas isn't sure if she's angry, relieved or more confused than ever. The...spirit? memory? ghost? of the Divine told her if she believes in the Maker (she still has no idea what she believes - helpful) then this is all part of His plan, as well, and if she does not believe, nothing's changed. Revas glares and the group moves on...right towards the demon. Well, sh*t.

In the end, someone has to stay behind so the others can escape. Revas reluctantly chooses Alistair because this is one of my favourite Hawkes while he's still facing the Calling and is clearly being rejected by his Order, Hawke still has a brother, pirate and trusty dwarf to go back to and surely the Inquisition can make use of the Champion of Kirkwall, right? No personal bias here at all

Revas leaps out of the Fade with the gang, closes the rift and, with no real leadership, allows the Wardens to join the Inquisition to attempt to make up for "Clarel's tragic mistake."

Spoiler

The group returned to Skyhold, where Leliana needed a hug asked about the Divine. Revas didn't know what to tell her.

Spoiler

The rest of the group wasn't faring much better, but Varric was happy Hawke had survived. To cheer the group up, we went dragon hunting!

Vinsomer first:

Spoiler

I spent most of the fight switching between Revas and Vivienne, trying to keep everyone alive and occasionally tossing bees. Such a fun fight! The first time I fought Vinsomer, I was a KE and just spammed Spirit Blade for 20 minutes (twice, since she glitched and wouldn't die after hitting 0 hp  <_< ) but they've either removed that "exploit" or I've simply lost my touch, as I had to use an actual strategy instead. Glad for it, that was the most fun I've had fighting a dragon since my first PT  ^_^ Also, I haven't unlocked Thousand Cuts yet. That may have helped a bit. Ah well, this was more fun.

Next up, Crestwood!

Spoiler

Since I'd just hit level 17 and was more than prepared (same team, no resistance gear/potions again but with a solid idea of how I wanted to fight her), this went much more smoothly. The fight lasted less than five minutes, even on NM, and we didn't even use all the potions (or bees!). Guess I should've tried sooner? Like, when we were here before and I avoided her instead, maybe?

Back to Skyhold! Leliana talked about finding her love (we sent her out on a 15ish hour WT mission to find the HoF), Bull introduced the Charger (and offered an alliance with the Qunari; I'll be putting Demands of the Qun off as long as I can), and it's like Blackwall's trying to tell Revas something...

Spoiler

And a couple of the Chargers I managed to get pics of, because everyone is gorgeous in this game and I take way too many screenies:

Spoiler

We also finally went to Val Royeux to complete Josie's personal quest. It's been done for a while, but I'm trying to spread things out better so we just had to meet Josie to get it checked off the list.

Spoiler

Turns out, she was a bard before she became a diplomat. Quite a big shift! Revas takes the chance to flirt with her because I can't help myself and now we may need to avoid a certain protective older sister/spymaster until I figure out who to romance... Any recommendations? I think I missed my chance with Blackwall, but I think I can still start a romance with everyone else (minus Cassandra :crying: ).

And that's all she wrote! I'll be starting the Exalted Plains next, so, uh, see you all in a month?  :P

Edit:

Did you mess in the .ini files? Cause then I'd at least have a place to start

I'm sorry, I really have no idea. Hopefully you've found an answer more promptly than I replied, but you might try tech support or one of the older boards. Surely someone's asked already there; even if it's not the same solution, it'd be a starting point.

If you are on a PC the path is here:

c:\Users\yourusername\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Screenshots\

Just hit Print Scrn / SysRq during play.

You don't need any cloud or anything. It's just plain screenshots. Bioware chosed *.png for this game. Good choice.

I would also add that you should make a copy and backup your screenshots folder from time to time.   For about 950 screenshots, I was at 1.9 gig before I moved everything after Val was finished.  This not only clears up room on your primary drive, it's easier to organize into different story segments.

*.png files do make for some great HD screenshots.   :D

OMG *faceplam* I had NO idea the game autosaved screenshots if you hit print screen! :o I've been saving them manually in another folder. I also just discovered I can save as .jpg instead of .png format, which takes up far less space. Of course, I didn't figure that out until AFTER I had already converted them all manually. <_< I guess I better go through the auto-saves and delete all the duplicates I already uploaded to Imgur.

So I am slowly liberating the Circle, and got to the bit with the fade, groaned internally, and then quit the game there.

"Skip the Fade" mod is your friend, if you are on PC that is. The sequence is kinda fun to figure out the first time through, or if you haven't played the game in forever, but after that it's just tedious. And yet I still have to collect every single shard in DAI. <_<

I miss the old name only because my brain always read it is "Part Oops" which made me chuckle.

I finished Remanna's pt, but I've been too busy to share with you all.  Too bad because I'd suggest to anyone to roll the Femquisition if you haven't - the girls are a hoot.   (I don't think Cassandra will ever recover from finding out that they put "Most Holy's face..on a plate?"  Heh heh, now it will be Cass' eyes you have to keep your mash out of lol

I haven't rolled a Femquisition yet even though 4 of my 5 quizzies have been female. I'm not sure I could put up with Vivienne for that long. I already miss Dorian in my new game, and I'm planning on recruiting the Templars so I'm going to be without him for even longer. ::pouts::

Now that I finished the game, onto more screenshots of Valena, the warrior Champion.  After a long hot bath, and with plenty of Vivienne's scented soaps, she's got the stink of heavy perfume and sweat scrubbed off.  Freshly clean, and dressed, she sets out to talk to the latest apostate to join her merry band of fools:

Here's looking at you kid:

Spoiler

Who are you calling a kid, young lady?

Spoiler

I just...jumped into a mirror.  Da hell am I?

Spoiler

Spoiler

Huh, didn't know she had a kid.  She doesn't seem that maternal.  Kieran is an odd child, although he's very polite.  I wonder why he has the Grey Wardens icon on his chest plate...

Spoiler

Heh, my brothers were like that.  I don't trust you, but I don't think you'll put your son in danger:

Spoiler

I know, how did Solas ever find this place?  He seems to know a lot about all sorts of ancient things.

Spoiler

Wow, thanks for stating the obvious.  Sure yeah, no pressure.    Envy got the point across for me, Morrigan.  But I thank you for your council.   <_<

Is anyone else having trouble getting the "Playing With Fire" quest to work? I did it in a couple of earlier PTs but last game and now this one, it just won't work. I've run around that stupid statue enough times to make myself dizzy! I'm wondering if one of the patches messed it up, or if there is some weird conflict with a mod I have installed?

You probably already know this, but you have to stay as close to the statue as you can while you run around it. Might be easier to walk instead of run? .... That said, I haven't done this quest since before the last patch, so maybe it is messed up?

I tried walking but it didn't help. I was able to do it before the walk toggle was added, so I don't know. There's also a pole for a landmark right there too, just to complicate things. I'll just try it again next time I'm in the Hinterlands. I forced myself to leave early so I could recruit The Iron Bull as soon as possible. His number is up this PT. I've seen/read/heard....a few things ....about his romance but I figure I can't really have an opinion until I play it myself. I don't think it will beat Dorian's though.

If it helps, he's actually very sweet and only a tiny bit crass with the player (The infamous "t*ts bouncing" line,) but he doesn't do that constantly.  I wouldn't have had fun with the romance otherwise.  He'll also give you plenty of chances to back out too.  If you decide he isn't your cup of tea, he takes a breakup the easiest out of all the companions.

Still, I hope you stick with it and enjoy it.  I was surprised that it was as romantic and as fun as it was.  It worked well for my dwarf and my human.   :)

Tip: Save at least one Dragon's Tooth should you decide to stick with the romance.   They're a masterwork item that gives 40% chance for stat increase, but save one of those for Bull's romance.  You also can't 100% lock in the romance until after the scene with the Chargers.

I just finished copying down War Table missions to get ready for my Dalish IQ.  I've noticed it's a lot like the Wardens if you didn't exile them: It's way too easy to kill all of the PC's clan off screen.  For the last mission, screw it up and you'll get both your dalish clan and the local elves in one of the cities killed.  Now I have a cheat sheet, so I won't accidentally do that.

I did that on my mage with the Wardens.  Got them all killed.  Oops.

I used to think the Abyssal High Dragon was my favourite Dragon Fight, and while I still think it's pretty epic, truth is Vinsomer has got to at least be near the top, up there with the Highland Ravager. It could be that when I faced each of these two dragons ythis time, I wasn't too OP'ed to go up against them, and that made for good fights. The Gamordan Stormrider was a pretty good fight this time around too, actually.

Sera is just too much of a kid sister to me.  She can be fun, but I generally felt like a sympathetic big sister telling her "no."  I'm not sure if I can break out of that mindset otherwise.  It doesn't help that, since the game came out, she reminds me of one of my friend's teen stepdaughter.  That doesn't make her a bad character, just off the romance table for me.

Jacob from the ME games will never get romanced, and the number one reason is honestly due to his name.  I walked into ME2 as blind as possible, so I didn't know about his actions come ME3.  My RL youngest brother is named Jacob.  That's an immediate no to romancing him, because hearing Shep go, "I'd like to talk more about you, Jacob," in that almost-flirting auto dialogue creeped me out a little.

While I know that Aveline was available as a flirt, I never took it.  It isn't because I'm straight, it's because she looks far too much like a more muscular version of my sister-in-law.  The same one married to Jacob.   :P

All good reasons not to pursue the romances for sure... As frustrating as they can be at times to get through -- Sera's in particular, and as an elf Inky even more so -- they are supposed to be enjoyable, something fun and a way to add personality to your character, and connect with the members of your party, even if it's just for the banter you get from them as you're wandering the Plains, or the Wastes, or the Graves, or the Emprise. Fortunately there are plenty of options for us all  :D

No slight intended to your brother of course, but ME's Jacob is... a jerk, heh... who only redeems himself by volunteering to look after a group of refugee kids, and trash-talking shep at Shattered Eezo. That was a good moment. Other than that, I felt just fine pretending he wasn't even there as often as I could. But I get it. I will never do a Cortez romance in ME, not because it's M/M, but because of so many PTs romancing someone else and connecting with him in a different way. I view him as a capable soldier, capable pilot, good friend, not a romance option.

Today in the Inquisition... Dofni's journey came to an end, somewhat unexpectedly quickly -- although not really because I have finished the game twice already... but still, it really kinda just snuck right up on me. Started the day easily enough. Dofni took Blackwall and Cole and Solas (who else? :P ) to the Arbor Wilds in a race with Corypheus to reach an Eluvian in the Temple of Mythal.Only it wasn't as simple as all that, because everyone wanted to get into the act. Josie with her scouts, Leliana with her spies, and Cullen with his troops. Okey Dokey, let's just bring everyone then. Hell, even the Empress of Orlais showed up!

No screenies because I forgot to enable FRAPS

So, we fought through the Wilds, and through the Temple. We listened to Morrigan and followed the proper rituals and paid our respect to the Elven Gods, and didn't jump through a hole in the floor after Calpernia and her venatori.

Then we met Abelas and allied with him and his Sentinel Elves, and when we finally caught up to Calpernia, we convinced her that Corypheus wasn't quite the good guy she seemed to think he was. She left the Temple without a fuss... to return to Tevinter, we guessed. I didn't fight her the first time I chose the templars either, I wonder if I should have this time. Ehhh, next time I choose the templars.

Morrigan drank from the Well of Sorrows, and so we didn't have to fight the Guardian of Mythal later, either. And everything just kinda sped forward from there. The most interesting part of the Arbor Wilds for me, this time, was Cole's reaction to it all once we were back in Skyhold.

It seems he was very upset by it all because he made himself forget. Dofni and he were talking on the battlements. He stared off into space and said some things and then, in a soft voice, finished with, "Forget..." Then silence. Dofni asked him if he was alright, and he turned to her and said, "Continue to use the name Cole if you wish. I am here to help." ... It was a very strange moment, and I gotta say that's probably the last time I choose to make him more spirit than human. Until then he seemed kinda happy to be a spirit, but after that... ?

Anyway, then we chased Morrigan's son through the Eluvian and had a confrontation with Flemeth that even after three PTs I still don't really understand it. But it's alright, I feel the need to replay DA:O and DA2 soon and actually read up on codex entries and pay attention to everything I can learn about Flemeth this time.

Then it was showdown time with Corypheus himself, and it was like, showdown? What showdown? Corypheus smirked and said, "bow before your new god!" and Dofni smirked back and said, "I don't believe in Gods." and then proceeded to hack and slash him to pieces. Woo. Party time!

Josephine was preening, Leliana was a happy as she could be, which didn't seem to be much. Cullen was proud of the army's efforts. Vivienne was already arranging the tailoring of her new Divine costume, which sorta ruined the surprise.

Bull was well on his way to getting very drunk and said he wanted to stick around. Get it? Stick? He knew Cassie was staying around, too :P And it seemed she was, promising to remain at Dofni's side through all the fallout to come. Blackwall said he would remain by her side too, and if he'd said anything else, she would have plucked out his beard hairs one at a time!

Varric was eventually heading back to Kirkwall to help rebuild things there, but first he was gonna write  down Dofni's adventures, expressing the belief that no one would believe it. Coming from him, he was probably right, but she didn't tell him that.

Cole was going to stay around and help for awhile, then said he wanted to go back to the Fade, and Dorian was going to do the same, except he was going back to Tevinter eventually. Finally, Dofni nearly made Sera cry by telling her she had a home at Skyhold if she wanted to stay. I don't think Sera really knew what she was going to do next, and Dofni's offer kinda blindsided her. It was pretty cool.

And so, that's it for my diminutive inquisitor. I liked her very much, she was a real no bllsh*t kinda woman. She finished up at level 24, and seemed to enjoy herself the most when there was a dragon nearby that needed killing. Or maybe that was just me. 2H warrior is a total blast to play -- like any other class, maybe not so much at first, but eventually? Hell yes! I highly recommend it.

Farewell to you Dofni. Whatever comes next for you, I know that you will stand tall and face it with Blackwall (she refuses to call him Thom :P )

Spoiler

I'm considering a full-on magequisition next time. Female Lavellan/Solas romance, taking him and Dorian and Viv out adventuring as often as possible, and using the others only for their personal quests, or when I need a wall bashed in or lock picked. :P

Spoiler

Also considering a female Adaar/Iron Bull romance, with Adaar being a DW thief, though I might change that up to a S&S warrior so I can bring Sera out adventuring with us. Heh. That should be good for some laughs. I might just keep the rogue Adaar anyway and use Sera for ranged combat. Having Bull and DW Adaar be my melee combatants will make things interesting. I may have to respec Bull to S&M S&S

Spoiler

Not sure which I'm gonna do first, though.

I want to become a Templar, but I hate this whole thing with needing to use lyrium when I'm going to talk Cullen out of lyrium. I don't really like the Champion tree, and the Reaver tree just isn't my dwarf. (Sigh) I guess Champion it is, but I do have everything I need to be a Templar right from the start, surprisingly.

For the most part, I love the human and spirit path for him in different ways. But that scene is definitely not as good on the spirit path! It would help if Inky actually asked him what's wrong, instead of being all "welp, I'm outta here!" Cole goes back to normal afterwards, but that scene really makes it seem like he's all Mr Roboto forever now. :pinched:

I forced myself to leave early so I could recruit The Iron Bull as soon as possible. His number is up this PT. I've seen/read/heard....a few things ....about his romance but I figure I can't really have an opinion until I play it myself. I don't think it will beat Dorian's though.

I'd recommend Bull's romance! It's actually my least favourite of the ones I've done so far, but that's possibly because I don't understand what they're talking about sometimes.

It's very sweet though. Takes a while to get going, but Bull is surprisingly more gentle and romantic than I thought he'd be. Plus, there's a friggin' hilarious scene halfway through!

Oops.

Fortunately that didn't happen to me on my first PT (pure luck!) but on my second... they all died. I couldn't remember which options I'd picked the first time, and didn't realise how easy it is to get them all killed! I must do my homework for the next PT. Same as with the ME2 suicide mission.

RIP Thane, your senseless sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I don't think it will beat Dorian's though.

.
Which mods do you have installed, Mel?

Try doing the circling without your party.

Thank you very much. Saying that I am not a politician may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me :P

.
Politicians are masters in avoiding and not taking resposibility - and the blame for anything at all. I guess this goes for every politician in the entire world.

Just kidding about your ballots.

Politician: "I never said that!"
Journalist: "What did you never say?"
Politician: "What I just said!"

Champions of the Just...

Thegrath decided to pursue the Templars over the Mages for help against the breach. Upon arrival, Lord Abernache greeted Thegrath and Thegrath responds in kind with such nobility. After a private stroll with Abernache, they went to see Knight-Templar Delrin Barris before the inner gates to ask for an audience with the Lord Seeker. Barris claims that the Lord Seeker changed everything in order to meet us and that the Herald is required to take on a trial, but Abernache disagrees and is reluctant to wait anymore. Agreeing with Abernache, Barris takes both of them to see the Lord Seeker. Demanding to see the Lord Seeker, Denam arrives instead. Confused, Thegrath asks Denam where the Lord Seeker was, but as soon as Denam realizes some of the knights were not corrupted by the red lyrium he orders an attack on the not corrupted templars. Thegrath and the team fended off the attacking Templars as Abernache hid in the corner away from the fight, and Denam is left wounded on the floor but would likely survive his injuries and be tried later.

As the inquisition fought their way to the castle gates, the Lord Seeker was standing before the gates facing away from the battles. Thegrath approached the Lord Seeker, but just before Thegrath could act, he was forcefully grabbed by the Lord Seeker and pulled into an unknown place. Thick fog filled the grassy green lit room as erected life-like statues burned before Thegrath. Unable to make sense of his surroundings, a phantom of Leliana appeared before him. Interrogated by the phantom who then conjures other phantoms to scare Thegrath as it killed and yelled at him, Thegrath comes to the conclusion that the phantom is an Envy demon who wishes to become him by stealing his face. Still confused, Thegrath proceeds onward and comes across false actions that he never took, but unwilling to bend, Thegrath ignores them and proceeds onward. As he entered a room with a single bed, the door behind him closes and another voice unfamiliar to him began to speak. Thinking Envy is tryin' to fool him, the voice becomes a person, a person who is identifies himself as Cole. Cole tells Thegrath that he is stuck in his own mind and must find a way to weaken Envy enough to break Envy's hold. Coming to a conclusion, Cole wants Thegrath to stretch Envy by continuing the search for the location of where Thegrath is physically standing outside of his mind unimpeded. Continuing up the grand staircase just right before the Envy demon attacked Thegrath, Thegrath is attacked again by Envy but with Cole's distraction Envy is headbutted and Thegrath is released from its hold.

As the doors to the Grand Hall opens, the Envy demon's true form screams and flees beyond the barrier. Unable to get to Envy, Barris asks that Thegrath finds the other lieutenants in order to break the barrier along with a stash of uncorrupted lyrium. As Thegrath and the team fought red templars, rescued the lieutenants, periodically helped Barris and the other lieutenants in the Grand Hall, secured a stash of uncorrupted lyrium, and uncovered a secret assassination plot against Empress Celene, it was not time to rid the path of the barrier. Stripping the barrier would require time, and Thegrath and the team would need to defend the lieutenants until the barrier was completely stripped. After fighting the non-stop hoard of red templars, Thegrath and the team proceeded up the stairs to the courtyard where they would have a showdown with Envy.

With Envy dead and in flames, Barris asked what will become of the Templars now that they are without a leader, and Thegrath asked that they stay as an order and help the Inquisition close the breach as they rebuild.

Thegrath and the party returned to Haven, and the ambassadors, Thegrath, and Cassandra now discuss what will come next. As discussions about the arrival of the Templars continued, Cole unexpectedly and suddenly appears on the war table. Surprised by Cole, Cassandra and Cullen drew their swords upon claiming that he's an evil spirit or a demon. Worried, Cole asks Thegrath for help and claims that he arrived before them to offer his assistance to the Inquisition, but, still fearful of Cole, Thegrath orders an immediate assault on Cole. Surprised, Cole erases any memory of his existence from those within the War Room. With everyone confused of why their swords were drawn, they dismissed the matter and prepared for the arrival of the Templars.
