Speaking with Inquisition members and killing the Avaars in The Fallow Mires:
Everybody - do you know how to get the flower crown in DAI?
You do now!
I don't know how to embed videos.
I want to become a Templar, but I hate this whole thing with needing to use lyrium when I'm going to talk Cullen out of lyrium. I don't really like the Champion tree, and the Reaver tree just isn't my dwarf. (Sigh) I guess Champion it is, but I do have everything I need to be a Templar right from the start, surprisingly.
I did the Templar path with Dofni. I wanted that spell purge ability
You still can. I will give a list of thread titles that people can vote on. Hahaha
![]()
Look at all the free benefits you get. Over time we can call you Congressman SporkFu or how about Senator SporkFu? Maybe you want a higher title? Hahaha
... No titles for me. I'm quite content with Spork... and the freebies. Still waiting on those *ahem*. But sure, make a poll or something ... No promises (I'm not a politician
), but maybe we'll get a secondary thread title out of it
For the most part, I love the human and spirit path for him in different ways. But that scene is definitely not as good on the spirit path! It would help if Inky actually asked him what's wrong, instead of being all "welp, I'm outta here!" Cole goes back to normal afterwards, but that scene really makes it seem like he's all Mr Roboto forever now.
I made Cole more human-like in my first game, but we didn't really get along all that well; I'm surprised actually, that he stayed around til the end, and I don't remember how that conversation went, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't quite so.... odd. Poor guy, but I guess it's his nature. Creepy though, that's for sure.
.
Politicians are masters in avoiding and taking resposibility - and the blame for anything at all. I guess this goes for every politician in the entire world.
Just kidding about your ballots.
Politician: "I never said that!"
Journalist: "What did you never say?"
Politician: "What I just said!"
Ahh, gotcha.
...hey I took full responsibility for hiding the topic that one time.
...evading responsibility is done for comedic effect only, of course
I'm doing both the Warden and Lavellan WT missions now. The first time, I somehow managed to get both to survive. Last time, I managed to get all the way to the end...and kill the Wardens (with Leliana. Who romanced a Warden. HoF will be so happy with her when she returns. Oops). I know what I'm doing this time, but wow, talk about consequences of failure.
You know you've made it on the BSN when
Commander ShepardLeliana endorses your thread.
I used to think the Abyssal High Dragon was my favourite Dragon Fight, and while I still think it's pretty epic, truth is Vinsomer has got to at least be near the top, up there with the Highland Ravager. It could be that when I faced each of these two dragons ythis time, I wasn't too OP'ed to go up against them, and that made for good fights. The Gamordan Stormrider was a pretty good fight this time around too, actually.
Sera
Yeah, Highland Ravager (which I do not recommend on NM while severely under-levelled
), Vinsomer and Greater Mistral (pretty!) are my favourite dragons ![]()
I've romanced Sera already, but I may just do that again. Pretty sure I've already flirted with her a bit too... ![]()
Today in the Inquisition... Dofni's journey came to an end, somewhat unexpectedly quickly -- although not really because I have finished the game twice already... but still, it really kinda just snuck right up on me. Started the day easily enough. Dofni took Blackwall and Cole and Solas (who else? ) to the Arbor Wilds in a race with Corypheus to reach an Eluvian in the Temple of Mythal.Only it wasn't as simple as all that, because everyone wanted to get into the act. Josie with her scouts, Leliana with her spies, and Cullen with his troops. Okey Dokey, let's just bring everyone then. Hell, even the Empress of Orlais showed up!
No screenies because I forgot to enable FRAPS
So, we fought through the Wilds, and through the Temple. We listened to Morrigan and followed the proper rituals and paid our respect to the Elven Gods, and didn't jump through a hole in the floor after Calpernia and her venatori.
Then we met Abelas and allied with him and his Sentinel Elves, and when we finally caught up to Calpernia, we convinced her that Corypheus wasn't quite the good guy she seemed to think he was. She left the Temple without a fuss... to return to Tevinter, we guessed. I didn't fight her the first time I chose the templars either, I wonder if I should have this time. Ehhh, next time I choose the templars.
Morrigan drank from the Well of Sorrows, and so we didn't have to fight the Guardian of Mythal later, either. And everything just kinda sped forward from there. The most interesting part of the Arbor Wilds for me, this time, was Cole's reaction to it all once we were back in Skyhold.
It seems he was very upset by it all because he made himself forget. Dofni and he were talking on the battlements. He stared off into space and said some things and then, in a soft voice, finished with, "Forget..." Then silence. Dofni asked him if he was alright, and he turned to her and said, "Continue to use the name Cole if you wish. I am here to help." ... It was a very strange moment, and I gotta say that's probably the last time I choose to make him more spirit than human. Until then he seemed kinda happy to be a spirit, but after that... ?
Anyway, then we chased Morrigan's son through the Eluvian and had a confrontation with Flemeth that even after three PTs I still don't really understand it. But it's alright, I feel the need to replay DA:O and DA2 soon and actually read up on codex entries and pay attention to everything I can learn about Flemeth this time.
Then it was showdown time with Corypheus himself, and it was like, showdown? What showdown? Corypheus smirked and said, "bow before your new god!" and Dofni smirked back and said, "I don't believe in Gods." and then proceeded to hack and slash him to pieces. Woo. Party time!
Josephine was preening, Leliana was a happy as she could be, which didn't seem to be much. Cullen was proud of the army's efforts. Vivienne was already arranging the tailoring of her new Divine costume, which sorta ruined the surprise.
Bull was well on his way to getting very drunk and said he wanted to stick around. Get it? Stick? He knew Cassie was staying around, tooAnd it seemed she was, promising to remain at Dofni's side through all the fallout to come. Blackwall said he would remain by her side too, and if he'd said anything else, she would have plucked out his beard hairs one at a time!
Varric was eventually heading back to Kirkwall to help rebuild things there, but first he was gonna write down Dofni's adventures, expressing the belief that no one would believe it. Coming from him, he was probably right, but she didn't tell him that.
Cole was going to stay around and help for awhile, then said he wanted to go back to the Fade, and Dorian was going to do the same, except he was going back to Tevinter eventually. Finally, Dofni nearly made Sera cry by telling her she had a home at Skyhold if she wanted to stay. I don't think Sera really knew what she was going to do next, and Dofni's offer kinda blindsided her. It was pretty cool.
And so, that's it for my diminutive inquisitor. I liked her very much, she was a real no bllsh*t kinda woman. She finished up at level 24, and seemed to enjoy herself the most when there was a dragon nearby that needed killing. Or maybe that was just me. 2H warrior is a total blast to play -- like any other class, maybe not so much at first, but eventually? Hell yes! I highly recommend it.
Farewell to you Dofni. Whatever comes next for you, I know that you will stand tall and face it with Blackwall (she refuses to call him Thom )
Spoiler
I'm considering a full-on magequisition next time. Female Lavellan/Solas romance, taking him and Dorian and Viv out adventuring as often as possible, and using the others only for their personal quests, or when I need a wall bashed in or lock picked.
Spoiler
Also considering a female Adaar/Iron Bull romance, with Adaar being a DW thief, though I might change that up to a S&S warrior so I can bring Sera out adventuring with us. Heh. That should be good for some laughs. I might just keep the rogue Adaar anyway and use Sera for ranged combat. Having Bull and DW Adaar be my melee combatants will make things interesting. I may have to respec Bull toS&MS&S
Spoiler
Not sure which I'm gonna do first, though.
*salutes Dofni*
Congratulations, and thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed hearing about Dwarfy Dofni's adventures! ![]()
I was thinking of making Cole more spirit-y for the first time this playthrough, now I'm not so sure though
Varric's "he could've been a person" usually gets me, too, simply because that's what Cole wanted when he started out in the book.
About Flemeth - Solas has an interesting reference to her when asking him about his journeys. Other than that, if you go back to DAO/2, there's some interesting stuff about the both of them. In particular, Merrill has something to say about Fen'Harel to Hawke's dog and there's a couple interesting stories throughout. It'd be fun to go back, knowing what we do now
Alternatively, Magequisition has my vote! The three of them have great banter, too.
Also, I need another like for the pun!
Heh, well i dunno about your HoF, but Leliana could always distract mine pretty easily with talk of the stars, or shoes, or birds in peoples' hair. I haven't read any DA books, so I can't really comment about those, but i would say it's worth trying out at least once. Cole genuinely does seem happy to be a spirit. Maybe not
(and I did laugh at the stick pun

I am sad that I didn't find out about this thread earlier, because it's awesome!
Well, never too late to start I guess.
After a buttload of jumping, my Inky Lorena finally got her fancy flower crown.
Wanted to give it to Brolas but naaaah it's too pretty. She'll keep it.
Didn't do much else because now there is nothing left for her but to strike down Cauliflower. I don't wanna let her go
She's my baby.
So, Revas is on her way to Valamar to do Varric's personal quest, as one does, yes? Well, on the way I realise I still haven't finished the Ballad of Lord Woolsley, so we head towards the little island in the middle of Lake Luthias to return this ram to its owner in Redcliffe. Revas is halfway through telling the Lord Ram about Jimmy missing him when, out of nowhere, a bear shows up and takes a swipe at him! Lord Woolsley turns around, transforms into a rage demon and swats right back at the bear. No screenshots, it happened too quickly and I was laughing too hard, but I thought it was worth sharing ![]()

Leliana: Did I ever tell you the story about that star over there, that shines so brightly when a lover returns to her loved one?
HoF: Uhh... no, no you didn't.
Hmm you're right, I think it'd go exactly like that ![]()
HoF: But...but...Wardens. And Griffons...

Edit because I snip'd more than I meant to:

... yeah I'm leaning towards the magequisition this time. That was my plan for next PT back when Dofni was still in the Western Approach, so I think I'll stay with it. And I kinda want to play a real elfy elf this time, too, and see just how angry I can make Seraeven though I haven't forgotten what she did to that one guy who made her angry. ulp
I do wish there was a bit more buildup for the other dragons. You're right, setting everything up and working with Frederic is great, and her entrance into the fight, and seeing her land on that ridge when you first start exploring? Fun! Not to mention the snarky comments from the peanut gallery companions about why baiting a dragon is probably not the best idea
Of course, there's always the giant fight with Vinsomer, too.
Can I use the excuse that I romanced Sera on my first playthrough and it's been a while? I have a habit of, ahem, unintentionally, romancing the same characters every time...
The books are worth a read, if you can get your hands on 'em. The Masked Empire and Last Flight (speaking of griffons
) were my favourites, I think.
Do try not to let Sera turn Magequisitor into wine like that one guy. Would be an unfortunate way for the world to end.
If it helps, he's actually very sweet and only a tiny bit crass with the player (The infamous "t*ts bouncing" line,) but he doesn't do that constantly. I wouldn't have had fun with the romance otherwise. He'll also give you plenty of chances to back out too. If you decide he isn't your cup of tea, he takes a breakup the easiest out of all the companions.
Still, I hope you stick with it and enjoy it. I was surprised that it was as romantic and as fun as it was. It worked well for my dwarf and my human.
Tip: Save at least one Dragon's Tooth should you decide to stick with the romance. They're a masterwork item that gives 40% chance for stat increase, but save one of those for Bull's romance. You also can't 100% lock in the romance until after the scene with the Chargers.
Thanks for the tip. It's funny, yet appropriate, that you actually need to kill a dragon in order to romance Bull. I'm pretty sure dragon teeth don't drop as loot anywhere else.
In my first game, with a Lavellan mage inquisitor, I ended up getting both the wardens and her clan killed off... but Sera still loved her
So did my first Lavellan. You'd think Solas would have been happy about that but he still left her. ![]()
I'd recommend Bull's romance! It's actually my least favourite of the ones I've done so far, but that's possibly because I don't understand what they're talking about sometimes.
It's very sweet though. Takes a while to get going, but Bull is surprisingly more gentle and romantic than I thought he'd be. Plus, there's a friggin' hilarious scene halfway through!
I know the one you mean. I haven't watched it anywhere but have read about it. I'm looking forward to that part. ![]()
.
Which mods do you have installed, Mel?
Try doing the circling without your party.
I have the community patch that fixes mosaic tiles, increased inventory, and new PJs and finery. Nothing too exotic. I'll give it another try next time I'm there, toggle walk, leave the crew somewhere far away, and see if it works. At least I'm back to casual mode so soloing the nasty that springs up shouldn't be too hard. ![]()
Well, didn't make it back to the Hinterlands yet. Spent the evening on the Storm Coast, taking in the sights.
This is Jaega Adaar:
I found an image of Hawke's tarot card and it made me sad. It reminded me of a hawk crashing to earth because of the weight on it's back. The talons and the wings are all wrong to be hunting or soaring. If you've ever seen a hawk grounded, the posture is a lot like this:

I did find it a nice touch that they included the in-game map.
Well, Ulekarot Adaar finally got the nerves to confront Coryphelus(he took cues from Sera) with his company by his side. Things however, transpired far quicker than he expected. With Coryphyshiteheel laying his cards on the table, anyone unprepared wouldn't be ready to call his bluff. Ulekarot however, had a dragon to match his.
Although Mythal's dragon ultimately wasn't as successful in handling Coryphywussy's Red Lyrium dragon, it was weakened enough for Ulekarot and his companions to dispatch it without incident. His training as a Reaver only made his victory cooler. It was time to tackle Corypheleuniss. After what seemed like hours of mindless combat, Coryphypheniss tried to cheat his way to victory in one last act of desperation:
In spite of the minor setback that came with their victory, Adaar wouldn't allow anything to dampen his spirits as he reunited, and for once he actually felt a bit sentimental as he watched his inner circle smile in approval. Something about it made him feel like a true champion, and for once, he almost caught the feels. Almost.

A smile is the closest you'll get to viewing him at his most vulnerable
It was now time to head back to Skyhold; Solas was AWOL, although Ulekarot already knew he was more of a loner. He'd done it without any mysterious Maker's help or in Andraste's name. As he admired the Qunari tapestries garishly splayed on Skyhold's facade, he joked to himself that he'd done it for the Qun. In a way he had, and yet, in a way he hadn't. The feeling was non-discursive, primal, and he resigned himself to focus on more pertinent matters instead of a metaphysical philosophy lesson. Like the respect and nearly occultic reverence he'd earned in spite of being a Vashoth merc.
With the Templars behind him - and soon, Divine Victoria Cassandra- things were looking up for Ulekarot. He was the leader of what was now a political tour de force in Thedas, with alliances with Orlais, Nevarra, and even the [grudging] respect of Tevinter. He'd hired his Valo-Kas buddies and made them yet another arm of intelligence; their help, along with the numerous other agents the Sith Lord Leliana was recruiting more than made up for those they'd lost once the Ben Hassrath had severed ties. Bull's experience would nonetheless help them spot strays still keeping an eye on Inquisition affairs.
Knowing that he was technically a slave to Mythal also caused him to ponder whether his intents were truly his own. Solas' warning wouldn't leave his mind whenever he dealt with matters related to the Inquisition, but for the most part, he had people he trusted beside him to make sure he never slipped too far. Those matters however could wait. It was time for that round of I don't care what anyone says I'm headcanoning this as taking place post-game Wicked Grace he'd promised Varric:
Stories were shared and memories were preserved as they basked in their victory, able to forget all that awaited them in the future, if for but only a moment.

Yeah, this next PT is gonna be tough, since none of my Inquisitors through the first three games got along all that well with Solas, and now I'm gonna try and romance him.

Dofni almost got too close to Vinsomer during that giant fight.... couple more steps and she would have been crushed by her tail! I was kinda waiting for either her or the giant to notice the team, then the two behemoths look at each other, nod, and team up to wipe us out!
Can I use the excuse that I romanced Sera on my first playthrough and it's been a while? I have a habit of, ahem, unintentionally, romancing the same characters every time...

In Your Heart Shall Burn...
The Herald was able to close the breach with the help of the Templars, and with every victory comes a celebration. As the celebrations continued on through the night, Cassandra and Thegrath talked about the Inquisition and how far Thegrath has taken it, but as the night was still young Cullen appeared from behind warning everyone to retreat back to the Chantry. Taken by surprise, they headed towards the main gate where Dorian was shouting on the other side to open the gate. Dorian tells Thegrath, Cassandra, and Cullen of who is leading the attack against Haven: Corypheus and Calpernia.
With the Inquisition forces in disarray and civilians needing to flee, Cullen rallies the troops and asks us to help with setting up the trebuchets. On the second trebuchet, after firing at the mountain side causing an avalanche to fall on the Venatori forces, a dragon appears and attacks the Trebuchet destroying it. Recovering from the blast, Thegrath and the team helps civilians escape from the Venatori forces. Harritt, Adan, Minaeve, Seggrit, Flissa, and Threnn were saved from the wreckage, and everyone else entered the Chantry. Surrounded and with no strategy but to charge only, Roderick is helped into the Chantry with Dorian due to his injuries he received while fending off the Venatori. Without any escape plan, Roderick tells Thegrath, Cullen, and Dorian that there is a secret passage that no one knows about except for him. As Cullen and Dorian leads the others to where Roderick claims a passage lies, Thegrath and his team go out to distract the Venatori forces.
With the third trebuchet heavily surrounded and attacked simultaneously, Thegrath had to work the trebuchet during the brief periods of not being attacked. Unexpectedly, Grand Enchanter Fiona was there to fight the Inquisition but was cut down eventually by Thegrath. Before the trebuchet could be fired, the dragon attacked again separating Thegrath from the others. Corypheus emerges from the flames and threatens to take the anchor from Thegrath claiming that he stole it, but Thegrath believes the anchor was a gift from Andraste herself. Failing to take the anchor, Corypheus picks up Thegrath and throws him next to the trebuchet, but thankfully do to due Corypheus's arrogance Thegrath was able to strike at the trebuchet's lever. The trebuchet shot at the mountain side behind Haven causing an avalanche once again. Thegrath ran and jumped into an opening crevice, and Corypheus was carried away by his dragon. Recovering from the fall, Thegrath headed through the cold tunnels and was attacked by demons, but for some reason, the mark was reacting. Corypheus's orb may have unlocked a latent ability as he was attempting to remove the anchor. Thegrath used the "Mark of the Rift" to destroy the demons immediately, and continued forward out of the caves and towards the cliffs. Reaching a fireplace with recent embers, Thegrath walks towards the narrow path and just before he collapsed the Inquisition forces found him.
Waking up from a exhaustion, Thegrath could hear Cassandra and the advisors arguing about what is to come next as Mother Giselle persuaded us not to intervene with the argument. Despite everything that had happened, Thegrath refuses to be beaten down and towards the campfire. As a moment of silence passes, Mother Giselle began to sing "The Dawn Will Come," and in very little time it became a choir that could be heard echoing through the mountains.
As the Inquisition traveled to where a place where Solas mentioned, many who were seriously injured died, but before all hope was lost, Thegrath could see a what looked like a fortress before him. Solas approached from behind to give the name of the magnificent castle: Skyhold.

Ha ha =) I am really impressed here, you have a great memory. Jupp, little guy is one year old now, so big! He can say mama, and if he doesnt get his way with something you get a loud Mamm!
I'll head over to the ME-thread and take a look. After this DAI-PT I think it is time for a new FemShep. Might even try to play something other than engineer this time but it will be difficult. The plan is that they will release some nice fun dlc while I'm still playing my Qunari so that I can get a round of ME afterwards. Every day I hope that we will get some news on the dlc front.
And in the spirit of the thread, today Seivarden Adaar got to see the storm coast. No snow so a definite plus there. A bit to many bitey mabari but it is close to Ferelden so it is prehaps expected. At least there are no mages or templars trying to obliterate the landscape. Will try to put of meeting the chantry people for a bit longer but soon it will be impossible to do so. Jupp, they are going to love the qunari-thing. Hope the people in the gang are alright, sounds like they got out at least. Perhaps one day when the sky stops raining demons there's a way of getting back there. But that's for a later date. Now there are missing soldiers to be found, clergy to be meet and a civil war to be stoped... Jupp, miss the old gang.

Thanks. I wish at times I could remember where I put my car keys. Haha

That thread has been very busy of late. I just finished my banana playthrough. I actually made it that a banana is tougher than a reaper. Haha

From what I understand, the team has been focusing on patches for the game while others work on a dlc and I believe some are helping the ME team with the next Mass Effect game to get it ready for release. I'm not too worried about a dlc. I just know one will be released.
@SporkFu - I don't think the Lord Woolsley thing is scripted; I've never had trouble with the little guy until now. I knew he was a demon, of course, but I'd never actually seen him just turn into one and start attacking a bear like that before ![]()
And short update: played multiplayer for the first time this morning! It's actually better than I thought it'd be. I expected it to be a bit tedious, but I played 3 or 4 matches as a Keeper and actually had fun
Not quite as addictive as ME3's MP, but I can see investing a bit more time in it eventually. Oh, and Revas is about 9k influence off the Short List perk. Just that, More Healing Potions and Enhanced Studies until I've got everything I want
We also dealt with Bianca yesterday. Turns out she leaked the Deep Roads entrance - oops? - and invited Varric to her place; he declined because her family was going to kill him, which she denied and he said "you always say that and your family always sends assassins" ![]()

You're probably right; just seems like in the three times I've gone after Lord Woolsely there's been some kind of fight going on nearby, and since somebody *cough*Solas*cough* usually sets off an AoE spell or something when there's combat nearby, I have to be quick to keep it from becoming a demon.
So it seems Varric has fallen for Bianca's lines before -- likely willingly enough ![]()
