Yes, he does. Not sure if it's actually extra, but it is definitely different than with a non-mage, especially the convo after "Perseverance." Next time I romance Cullen I have to side with the mages though (and try to remember to have my imported Warden be Amell )

Sidenote: I figured out my new PS does have a four pin connector (2 of them, actually, disguised as an 8 pin connector <_<). Unfortunately, it didn't fix the sparkles problem so it looks like I need to replace the video card instead. Stupid machine!

*cough* Import an Amell/Surana that romanced Leliana, too *cough*

Oh gosh, did someone hear something?

So today's update? My television died. Fun stuff. Not sure what I'll do, since fixing it doesn't seem likely and it'll be weeks, at least, until I can replace it.

On the bright side, Revas and co. explored the Lost Temple of Dirthamen. No screens for obvious reasons, but it's quite a lovely place, aesthetically. Took Dorian this time, instead of Solas, because Revas wants to punch him most of the time (and sadly he likes her too much for that to be an option  :P ) and skipped out on taking Sera this time, too. It's bad enough to have one disinterested elf complaining about the cold and wet without having Sera drive Cassandra mad, too. At least Dorian found the magic of the place fascinating.

Sometimes I think Varric's the only sane one. Ritual for some creepy High Priest? Brilliant! Elf-y translation magic? So interesting! Dead explorers that lost their minds here before dying? Ah well, look at these magnificent ruins! He must've been side-eyeing Dorian the entire time.

Video card upgrades are like those mini-marshmallows in your hot chocolate; you can get by without 'em, but dayum. :D

That's the real bummer....this is a video card upgrade. I think I just got a clunker. I will say, however, that changing out a video card is much easier than changing out a power supply. I left the new one in, just so I don't have to mess with it anymore.

Aww, that sucks about your TV. :(

I love Varric and Dorian together, especially once they start betting on everything. It is really depressing how every cool Elven ruin we go to is infested with undead and other demons. Except Mythal.....hmm, maybe that's why Sera is confused?

Jaega and crew are currently in the Forbidden Oasis chasing after the last few shards there. She opened all the doors she can for now in the temple. Finally got the Deft Hands perk, so she went back and unlocked all the doors she couldn't before in Hinterlands and Fallow Mire. Also cleared out the spider/rift cave on the Storm Coast. That place is sooooo much easier to deal with on Casual difficulty. :D

I'm hoping my TV will just...magically fix itself  :P

I haven't actually had Varric and Dorian around each other too much until now, but yeah, they're a lot of fun together  :D I think I'll actually keep this team for a while, too; at least as long as wandering the Emerald Graves takes. I think I'm running out of banter with Vivienne anyway. "Sparkler" had me giggling for perhaps longer than it should, simply because it was a casual remark and Dorian didn't even question it as a nickname for him. (I mean, it's not like he'd think Varric was referring to Cassandra or Inky, so he just went with it  )

Sera seems to think the Mythal thing was demons, though. Now that you mention it, this is probably why.

Ohhh I see  and here I was singing the praises of a new card. Then I really am sorry about your troubles. Having gotten my share of hardware duds, I know how it is. Hopefully you can get it replaced fairly painlessly.

@Nightingale: No TV? ... That's... Uhh... trying to think if a synonym for 'devasting' that accurately portrays how devastating it is, and I got nothing ... That's really, really really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really really, really, really awful. Really.

As your resident mod enthusiast  (:P), I must share the wonderful news that there's a new mod that eliminates the waiting time in the war table!  No longer must I mess with my clock to cheat my way past the waiting time XD - http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/479/?

I actually finally got around to installing a couple mods today :) I wanted to wait until I was ready to start a new game, so I installed some Dalish PJs for Cirwen -- have to wait til I get to Skyhold I guess to see if it worked -- and I installed the Cass romance one (finally) just in case things don't work out with Solas  ... And I installed the community patch. Dunno if that was a good idea or not, because I think it predates the latest official patch.

Anyway, I saw that war table mod available, and I didn't get it (yet), but I thought our resident mod enthusiast should break the news ;)

I just learned a hard lesson about regularly backing up my saves.

vader.jpg

Nevermind... I found a solution to my problem in the technical support forum.   I was getting errors that my save data was created with a newer version of the game.  I worried that my saves were corrupted.  But, they work now.  Gosh, I would have lost A LOT of hours of gameplay.  Now I'll definitely back up my saves more often.  Time to use this gif again :P

Actually, you don't. You can see them briefly during the War Room cutscenes at Haven. Also when you first wake up in the village, I think.

I took a lot of auto-screenies of the battle at Haven. I want to convert them before uploading however, so hopefully I will get some posted tomorrow.

For those interested, Vivienne's recruitment mission is still in my journal after getting to Skyhold, so In Your Heart Shall Burn isn't the cut-off. I can only imagine her annoyance at such a delay, however.

Is it just me, or has the Keep totally fubared my world states? It shows my "current playthrough" as having imported default named Warden and Hawke when that is not the case. I've also given up trying to remake femHawke in-game. The CC just doesn't work for her. :(

I gave up on the Keep, at least until there's any news of them fixing the locked tiles problem.  I hope that it's fixed, or at least they add a toggle for the locked tiles for anyone who doesn't want spoilers.  I finished the game and yet most of the tiles are hidden.  It seems to a pretty common problem, too *shrugs*

 It was that scene when Cirwen first woke up in Haven that reminded me to install the mod. Haven't noticed it in the war room yet, but might be that I just haven't paid attention cuz the lighting is kinda terrible in the Haven war-room... and actually the whole chantry, for that matter.

Do you mean the tiles for Inquisition? last time I was in the Keep, the Inquisition tiles were still "coming soon"

*runs off to check*

Okay... so... these must be in place for upcoming DLC?

*shrugs* I don't think so.  It seems like 75% of the tiles are hidden for Inquisition when I log onto the Keep for things like "Did the Inquisitor have a Paramour?"

Hmm... For the tile "Doom Upon the World" I have this: "The Chantry approached several Inquisition members about potentially becoming Divine. Who took up the mantle?"

My Keep gives me a choice of Cassandra and Vivienne, and says that the choice of Leliana "has not been unlocked yet" ... which makes sense because i haven't had Leliana as Divine in any of my games yet.

EDIT: For "Here Lies the Abyss" it says, "While the party was trapped in the Fade, an ally distracted the Nightmare demon so the others could escape. Who made the noble sacrifice?"

And the only option i can pick is Loghain.  ... for three other choices -- presumably Alistair, Hawke, and Stroud -  it says they haven't been unlocked yet, which isn't the case for me. I've had Stroud and Hawke each remain in the Fade in previous games.

Could that be patch 5? I confess i have no idea, but I thought the console folks would get it later than PC folks. Apologies if you've already gotten patch 5, heh. If that's the case, then I have no idea.

My characters wouldn't look good if there was no patch 5. :) Looks is everything which is something that most would agree with Vivienne on.

^_^ Fair enough, and yes indeed.

Well, maybe it -- whatever it is -- will roll out a little later today for PC. *fingers crossed for the Emporium*

Cirwen's Journey begins...

Is it just me? It can't be just me. I have a question for those of you who have played Inquisitors of different races... bear with me ;) During the first part of the game, when the protagonist and Cassandra -- and later Varric and Solas -- are traveling first to the forward camp and then on to the Temple, does Solas seem happier/friendlier/more accessible when Inky is an elf?

I don't remember from my first game, and my first elf. Honestly I was paying more attention to Cassie and Varric because they were known entities. Now here I am playing an elf again, and going through a few bazillion screenies I've taken of my game so far --- looking for some good in-game portraits of my new future-Inquisitor to share -- and I'll be damned if Solas isn't smiling with inordinate frequency these days!

I present, for your inspection:

"Well, hello there... come here often?"
Spoiler

"Just kidding...
...but not really."
"Who are you?
Spoiler

"I'm Solas. I saved your life, you know. Can you do any magic?"
"Well, I sort of have this green glowing hand."
"Really? Can I see it?
Spoiler

"Uhh, that's... nothing's happening...
...Is she for real?
Ohhh, That was a joke!
I Get it! Hahaha!"
Spoiler

"Hahahahaha..."
"Heh...awkward..."
...ahahahaaa!"
Spoiler

"Ah haha ha ha..that was.. eheheahaha"
"Ehe... breathe Solas breathe... hehe"
"Wow. Okay then. I'll be going now."
Spoiler

"No wait! We should grab a bite sometime...
... I won't laugh. I promise!"
"Let me be as clear as I know how: Go. Away."
Spoiler

Cirwen hadn't met too many elves who weren't of the people. She was intrigued by this strange creepy person, and chose to believe that he was simply socially awkward and not... something worse. Still, she'd keep the dwarf between them for awhile....

Bonus #1: Leliana and Cassie react to something boneheaded from Roderick at the Forward Camp ^_^
Spoiler

To be continued...

We left our young keeper-to-be on the way to the suddenly destructed Temple of Sacred Ashes, accompanied -- and slightly screeped out -- by a ragtag band of adventurers. Now they have arrived at a Forward Camp, and as she has noticed in the past, get more than two humans together in one spot and the arguing starts...

Solas and Cirwen listening to the humans argue about what to do next...

Spoiler

Unable to decide, Cassie asks Cirwen...
Spoiler

And Varric says...
... get used to it, Herald. You're in charge, now.
Spoiler

I'm in charge now...

Spoiler

So they finally got it together and made it to the scene of the crime and witnessed some really weird stuff, and fought a tough fight against a Pride Demon, and closed stabilized the breach, and now, rather than believing Cirwen is the cause of the explosion and all the death and destruction, everyone believes she is the Hearld of Andraste and has been sent to save them all. Pretty crazy happenings for the keeper-to-be of a small clan of Dalish out in the Free Marches. It seemed she wasn't going home again anytime soon.

So be it.

Bonus #2: Leliana and Cassandra react to something boneheaded from Roderick at the Chantry in Haven ^_^
Spoiler

The left Hand and the Right Hand of the Divine joined hands and formed the Inquisition to set everything right again, and they planned on using the religious awe with which everyone now regarded Cirwen to its fullest advantage to build this new world power. Cirwen would play along for now. Just like the dwarf with the religious-awe-inspiring chesthair, she couldn't just do nothing about this.... as long as she didn't have to lead any Andrastian prayer services. Besides, the other elf mage was kinda cute, and she could likely learn a lot from him. ... I meant magic ;)

And now, just before heading out into the Hinterlands for the first time, Cirwen wants to make sure things don't start off on too serious a note. She decided to a game with the newly-appointed leader of the military branch of the Inquisition. She told him she would hide and he had to find her. She would put money on this guy never being sent after any apostates when he was a templar

Hiding spot found. Perfect!
Spoiler

Cullen thinks he's spotted her, but can't be sure.
Spoiler

"Sargeant. Do you see the Herald over there?"
"Uhh... no, sir!"
Spoiler

"Are you calling me a liar?"
"Uhh... no sir!"
Spoiler

"Are you sure you don't see her?"
"Uhh... No sir! That is... yessir!"
Sidenote: tee hee #1
Spoiler

"You better go find her, Sargeant! She.. uhh... might not know her way around here yet."
"Yessir!"
Sidenote: This is important to remember for later. (You'll see what I mean): When the sargeant left Cullen's side, he was moving away from Cullen's right shoulder... Also tee hee #2.
Spoiler

No commentary necessary. Cullen's expression says it all.
Spoiler

"You were behind me the whole time?"
Spoiler

"I was behind you the whole time."
Sidenote:  The hell is going on in this village?
Spoiler

"Well played, Herald. Well played."
Spoiler

So that's where I'm at. Just about to head into the Hinterlands. Gonna do In Hushed Whispers this time and want to recruit Dorian and Vivienne fairly quickly -- for the magequisition B) -- so I'll be looking to gather enough power to recruit them first and then figure out how to play it from there.

Tackled Envy again and I think I solved that glitch. Tested it more than once and it worked. I jumped/rolled from the stairs to the center where it forms and no stick bug. Just walking or jumping to the side and I glitched, but straight down the middle and not touching the last steps worked. Basically I bypassed the point where the scene changes to a cut scene. Shouldn't have to do that and 6 patches later it should be fixed

Discovered new dialogue with Harding that amused me. If you save Crestwood before entering the Fallow Mire, she says you are an expert with corpses instead of asking if you are squeamish.

Currently lighting beacons as I type.

My second playthrough is complete. My elf mage Elora has stopped Corephyeus and the Inquisition can relax for a day.

After the Hissing Wastes, Elora went about finishing the remaining Inner Quests for her companions. Her romance with Solas was bittersweet. Elora and Bull saved his group instead of the Qun's ship, thus making him Tal-Vashoth. Cassandra gained the book of the Seekers and she's determined to rebuild them. Cole remained more spirit and continues to help people.

When it was time to get back to the main storyline, Elora took her companions to find the Well of Sorrows. After a bit of arguing with Morrigan, Elora decided that this well is her elven heritage and she was going to drink. Solas was a bit unhappy about that, but he couldn't stay mad long. Instead, they found a secluded spot together. He took away her tattoos that originally meant the mark of slavery.

The Temple of Mythal proved enlightening. Morrigan's mother is the vessel of whatever remains of Mythal. She wasn't so upset that Elora drank instead of her anymore. Elora won the help of the temple's guardian dragon to help fight in the coming battle.

It was a tough battle, but in the end the Inquisition came out victorious. Sadly, Solas disappeared immediately after Cory's defeat. The only goodbye Elora got was a strange message Solas seemed to have sent through Cole.

To Elora's great pleasure, Leliana became the next Divine. And as a softened Divine, she began her rule with an optimistic outlook and worked with the people. Empress Celine rules with her lady love, Briala. The Grey Wardens head north and gradually, they begin to disappear. The mages find new-found freedom when Leliana ended the circles. The mages reopened their universities as a way of training and protecting themselves.

It was a great ending.

Sad to see Elora go, but it's time for my third playthrough.

Meet Lucetta. She's Andrastrian and a rogue who people believe is the Herald of Andraste, including herself. I tried to make her look like me, but I didn't get the eyes right. They're a bit too big when you see her in cut scenes. (And her lipstick turned out too pink.)  Oh well. Let's go!

After playing through the Templar quest, I just loaded an old save and chose the Mages. I noticed something I never saw last time. Choosing the Mages results in many cameos from DAO and even DA2, but the Templars focus on Asunder and new characters. No wonder I lean toward the Mage one more!
