If you've proximity heal and lifeward, regen potions on Cassandra/your tank can do amazing things. Assuming survivability is your problem, not that there's just a million things killing you.
Y'know, she and Inky were just trying to get Cassandra in a dress...for very different reasons, I'm sure.
So, Spork's recent victory inspired me to try taking out all three Emprise dragons in one go...on NM. Revas killed the first two in one go (with the wrong weapons again, because evidently I just can't get this right even when I know better) and gave a half-hearted attempt at the Ravager. Got her to 143k hp out of 311k, then she called in more (and by that, I mean too many) of her babies. Revas took one look at them and decided to keel over right then and there. Vivienne sneered until she was taken down, Varric was already enjoying a nice dirt nap and Cassandra [disgusted noise]ed us all and was quickly overwhelmed before she could get anybody to get off their lazy butts and help.
So in short, I could probably kill her (probably without restocking, if I really wanted to test my patience
) but decided to let her get her beauty sleep while the group heads out to the Wastes for some better crafting materials and schematics.
On an unrelated note, I just noticed I somehow missed chapter one of Hard in Hightown this playthrough. I've gotten it on all the others but...I can't remember where
Anybody happen to know where to find it?
Congrats on the NM attempt of all three dragons. Impressive.
You're a braver soul than I am, heh. I dunno if I'll ever try a NM run of Inquisition -- The Ravager kicking my butt on casual was bad enough
She sure does call in a lot of her kiddies doesn't she?
Hell even Kaltenzahn on NM would probably leave me frustrated and P.O.'d enough.

Ha. My knight enchanter had them for lunch on nightmare. I find nightmare mode easier than insanity mode for ME3

Hmm... okay maybe one day i will give NM a try. Maybe
I get myself in trouble with declarations sometimes. ME3 insanity was only frustrating in a couple spots once I got used to the importance, both of staying in cover, and of not staying in cover for too long
I thought Insanity on ME3 was easier than the easier difficulties for the same reason: I got brave (read: stupid) and would jump out of cover, thinking I could take the enemy...and failing miserably
ME2's Insanity, on the other hand, was just brutal. At least ME1 had new game+.
NM is pretty much the same concept. I started on Hard on my first PT and have been doing NM for all the rest and I actually think Hard was, uh, harder. Maybe it's just because it was my first run? Anyway, if you have a balanced enough team and keep barriers up, it's really not a problem. Babysitting your tank is occasionally something you need to do (what are you doing, Cassandra? Stop trying to flank the dragon, you're just drawing attention to the rogues!) but I've never found tac-cam a requirement. That said, you probably will want to craft most of your main team's armour rather than using what you find for most of the game.
Which reminds me, I lucked out while clearing out the Sahrnia mine and got my first piece of FT Silverite. Stuck it on Inky's new Sturdy Prowler Armour and you're absolutely right, Spork, it's amazing! ![]()
Enter Nadal Adaar - tal-vashoth mercenary, and beautiful a** kicker. She was at the conclave, feeling rather pleased with herself: Lord mucky-muck has a sister who is a Grand Cleric, needs security; Lady what's-her-bucket is having it off with a templar, needs security; Duke stick-up-his-butt has a daughter who is a First Enchanter, needs security. Three paychecks for one job!
Was all the same, keep everybody safe...easy enough, right? She had most of her crew stationed at the base of the mountain, scanning the crowd, looking for shifty-eyed folks...well SHIFTIER eyed, she supposed. The rest were making a show of themselves and their weapons, making certain folks knew they were being watched. Nadal figured she would scout the meeting areas....
...W.T.F?!?!? Spiders, glowy chick, now she was in a dungeon. Yelly woman and Whispers tried to interrogate her...she wasn't talking until she could clear her head. Then Yelly pointed out that she had few options but to cooperate - jailed, chained and in pain from whatever that green thing on her hand was. Whispers took off, and Yelly tied her hands and took her out of the dungeon. Lots of angry faces here, all pointed in Nadal's direction - nothing new, growing up outside of Qunari-held lands, she knew humans and elves alike held no love for her kind...but there was something else. Yelly - turns out her name was Cassandra, pointed out a HUMONGOUS green hole in the sky - which flared up, and filled her body with wracking spasms.
Cassandra tried to hold back tears as she mentioned how they were all in shock because the Divine and the rest of the conclave had been blown to bits. Nadal was the only survivor - which made her the obvious scapegoat. So, bloodlust mixed with deep sorrow - things were looking a little dicey for Nadal, so she figured she would do what she could to make Yell...er, Cassandra happy and then high-tail it out of wherever she was. On the way to do the thing - close the what? she was foggy on the details, but still going along with the plan - they found some troops fighting *insert name of your god here* knows what. Threadbare, hairless elf grabbed her hand and WOWZA what the hell just happened there? Talky dwarf guy said some stuff, made Cassandra grunt a lot - tension there, sexual maybe?
Killed some more demony things - Nadal wasn't picky, they wanted to kill her, she let her greatsword do the talking. They met up with Whispers and Old Man Lock-Her-Up
, decided to take the direct route up the mountain.
Oh my...Nadal generally preferred the fairer sex, but that Commander run-your-fingers-through-my-hair was a fine piece of a**
....oh, he was a bit grumpy with her - 'risked a lot getting you here', pfft she didn't ask for this, you know.
Fine, while he went and did whatever, Nadal was going to save the world...or that was what she gleaned from Cassandra, Shine and Chest Hair. That meant returning to the Temple, which was pretty horrific - Nadal had seen some nasty stuff in her line of work, but this was beyond the pale. What could possibly have caused this amount of destruction? She quietly walked through the wreckage, averting her eyes as best she could from the charred remains of the people she was supposed to have been protecting.
Coming through a passageway, they met up with Whispers, aka Leiliana. They all had a shared hallucination of something torturing the Divine, and Nadal saw herself rushing into the room. Cassandra was really upset by this, and Shine explained that the rift had torn the veil, and the fade was leaking in - what they saw was a vision of what had happened. Nadal wasn't sure, but she didn't think the day could get much worse.
Jinxed herself! That hole in the sky was pretty darned high, but Shine said she could close the rift thingy closer to the ground, it was the first and might close the hole. He spoke with enough conviction, she figured even if he was wrong, he certainly seemed to know what he was talking about, which put him one up on just about everyone else she had met that day. He may have mentioned that she had to open it up and let more demony crap pour out of it to do so, she probably would've inquired about plan B. She had heard of Pride Demons before, but this was...arrows, swords, spells - nothing seemed to even slow it down. Nadal pointed her hand at the rift thingy again, and it seemed to weaken the pride demon a bit, though new baddies came through. She let the soldiers work on those, as she, Cassandra, Shine and Chest Hair worked on the pride demon. Whack, slash, arrow, spell...pop the rift...repeat, slowly but surely they dispatched the demons. Nadal pointed her hand at the rift one more time, pouring everything she had into it....then nothing.

Nice find on the FT Silverite. I farmed a chunk of it in the Highland ravager's Lair for over an hour to get a piece of it before taking on the new DLC. It's a nice feeling to never be defenseless again, heh. As for the NM difficulty, I dunno... I don't like to babysit my team. They know when there is something to kill even if it just an occasional unfortunate fennec, so I like to just let them go to it. Especially in the case of that unfortunate fennec, because they just want to chase it forever.
But that's part of why i like the easier difficulties. I don't have to worry about that stuff. Admittedly it makes me lazy in combat, and then panic when I do try insanity/nightmare difficulties.
As for me, I just finished the Jaws of Hakkon DLC.
... For everyone who reads this, I can easily recommend it as worth playing. If you enjoy(ed) Inquisition then I think you'll find it worth the fifteen bucks. I have to rush off to work now, so if you'll all bear with me, I'll post some screenies and thoughts later

Oh, yes, all my potions/grenades/tonics are fully upgraded. The problem is

Re: NM mode, the toughest battles for me are the ones with multiple enemies. If you can focus your effort on one target, then it's just a matter of time before you wear it down. If you have to watch from all directions because hordes of enemies are coming at you from every which way (like the trebuchet battle in Haven) that's when it gets tricky. A lot of it is luck and timing, but you also need to have the right equipment and abilities mapped. Oh, and not having the game glitch you out of 200 focus points would also be nice. ![]()

Gosh, that sounds like so much fun
Urgh, the trebuchet battle took me a bit over two hours this playthrough. Not used to being stuck with a DW rogue, and all those reinforcements...Shoulda gone for the trebuchet and left Denam alone but nooo ![]()
Why is the game glitching and resetting you at 100 focus? I've had this problem a lot the last few days. Quite annoying and not sure what's causing it/how to fix it.

No idea why but it hasn't happened that I noticed before until post-Patch 6 and DLC. I guess it could have always been the case but maybe because I wasn't dying much (at higher levels) I didn't notice it? Don't know. Now, whenever a party member gets revived, their focus max is reset to 100. If I save/reload, the max is restored but the lost focus points are not. It's super annoying. This is why I am reloading every time Olinar dies, rather than just reviving him. I need those points!
Ugh! I wanted to post a picture of Nadal, since I'm really pleased with how she turned out. I downloaded DAI Cinematic Tools, but the keys on my numpad aren't doing anything...
Any hints would be greatly appreciated - pm me if you would, i don't want to derail the thread
Thanks in advance
A quick update on my NM issues....apparently the biggest problem last night was: I was tired.
Got him on the first try today. I did change out some of my potions first though. Added rock armor for Cass and fire/confusion grenades for Olinar and Dorian. So, yay, on to the next battle! ![]()
Edit: Finished! Now I can go back and read all the spoilery parts I skipped earlier.
Started the DLC (yay! it got me back with Lyell) unfortunately I haven't gotten far because the dang thing keeps crapping out every five minutes. ![]()
I have played now with Trevelyan, Lavellan and Adaar but apart from some culture specific dialogue they don't seem to be any different.
Maybe I just suck at the roleplay thing. ![]()
Anyway next time I'm here I'll introduce you all to Urdnot Adaar and the other one. ![]()
Nice pics but, and this is just my opinion
, but a lot of folks were kinda grateful that everyone had been doing a pretty good job of keeping DLC stuff within spoiler tags.
Ran around the Hissing Wastes doing the dwarven quest. Met a shifty-looking barrel.

Tried to explode it, didn't work, so I just went about my business. Luckily, the barrel was unaggressive.
Encountered some annoying bugs on the way to the last quest area - party slowed down to a crawl during combat, couldn't select another party member and the audio disappeared. Restarted the game, everything worked smoothly. When we reached the spot there was a dragon sleeping in the middle of it and since the party consisted of only me and Blackwall, I retreated back to Skyhold and called it a day.
lol @ that barrel. and why exactly are we attacking the bales of hay in emprise du lion again?

And why are they bursting into flames when I'm shooting arrows at them?
Revas killed the Highland Ravager
Super fun fight, if a bit easy with Cass, Viv and Blackwall. I armed Mr. Warden Fanboy with proximity fire resistance and Rock Armour tonics...and completely forgot about them. Luckily, between him using Bodyguard and Cassandra doing whatever it is she usually does and Revas with FT silverite, potions weren't really necessary.
Anyway, not sure what's up with the covert enemy-barrel, but if you mean the hay bales in the Exalted Plains, they are meant to help kill the zombies and control the field. Not sure why regular attacks set 'em on fire, though ![]()
And why are they bursting into flames when I'm shooting arrows at them?
Because it's fuuuuun ![]()
End game...er, mission...spoilers and pics for Jaws of Hakkon:
ugh, yes...exhalted plains, home of the neverending deadening...thanks nightingale
