That will be a good showdown  Tevinter mage and ex-Seeker who likes to punch things fighting over the handsome inquisitor.

Ooh, good idea. I'll finally be able to put that sparring ring in the middle of the courtyard to good use. :P I wish Inqui could use it for real instead of just getting chided by [pick any trainer] about how out of shape and out of practice they are. <_<

When we last left off, Jaega was about to enter the flooded caves of Crestwood to find an underground rift. Before that:

They explored the caves and found the rift. Not just difficult to get to but also extra powerful as it spouted four waves of demons instead of the usual two. Still, Jaega, Bull, Cass, and Dorian didn't have too much trouble with it. More of a challenge was trying to keep their feet dry while wading through pools of stinky black water. Eww. Went out the back way in order to find more loot (and mosaic pieces). And wouldn't you know, she got this message: "Inventory is full." I really miss my extra big backpacks. Olinar was such a spoiled Inquisitor; he got all the perks. :P

Ah well, they needed to head back to town anyway to let the mayor know the job was done. But, the shifty mayor was nowhere to be found. Well, she'd look for him later. The immediate goal, after offloading some loot in town and back at Caer Bronach, was to take down the dragon they saw do a fly-by after draining the lake. It wasn't too hard to find, sitting on top of a castle ruin roaring at the world. She may have been crankier than Frosty, but she didn't have any babies to come to her aid like the latter did, so this battle was pretty easy. (and I remembered screenies this time!)

All that was left to do was root out some leftover bandits and take out a Venatori camp set up next to an astrarium. I remember that one being a red Templar camp in my last game, so it was nice to have an actual difference depending on who I sided with. I really didn't notice many, if any at all, last time I went with the Templars.

So that's it for Crestwood. Oh yeah, she also met up with Hawke and Warden Stroud. Apparently something very bad is going on in the Western Approach. Not sure when she'll make it out there though. Solas wants help finding a spirit friend who's in trouble and Josephine needs helping finding who's out to get her. Not to mention Jaega needs to have a serious discussion with Bull about what happened and what might happen between them. On the plus side, Dorian is now apparently her bestest buddy.

I wouldn't lie to the Nightingale  ...no nugs were directly harmed by Kubrie in the making of that coat and those boots -- which you can't even see, but full disclosure ;). She raided a crate in the smithy for all the materials, honest.

Hm...the Nightingale will find out if you are lying, you know

Thanks! First, I need to find a good control layout for myself because it really throws a crap ton of keys at you.

At least it's a bit slower, gives you a chance to figure it all out. Be sure to pick up backpacks right away when you find a merchant with one and crafting recipes can come in handy, too. If all else fails, throw a fire bomb at your enemies  :P

Since I got the latest patches for the game, I noticed that I get no more power amulets. I'm still able to farm tier 3 schematics at the Suledin Cradle, Yesterday got a very nice tier 3 schematic grip for my staff.

It's nice to make my armor colorful with the tint thing though I most likely will leave my armor the color it is after being crafted. I've yet to use the storage chest.

Am considering Nug Elope, which appears to be a kind of dating simulation game involving Nugs, the guinea pig like creatures from Dragon Age. I feel this could potentially evoke a "Watership Down" kind of story line from the reviews. Also the 1/4/15 date is quite fortuitious as needed a distraction from Jaws of Hakkon (?Harkonen). Bioware should probably do more dating simulation games.

Since I've written a bit of an essay today, I've also included some pictures!

Crestwood was wet and rainy for quite a while. I wanted to see if it felt any different completing quests in inclement weather. Turns out the only thing that's different is that everyone's got very wet underpants now. Except for Cassandra, who apparently wears none. That little revelation distracted Trev so much he almost walked off a cliff:lol:

They encountered some Wardens fighting off undead, and went to talk to an elf, who hero-worshipped them. Trev convinced her to join the Inquisition instead, which pleased Sera and Dorian. Further along the route was a little town that was trying to protect themselves from the undead. This reminds Trev of a story Leliana told after he got back from Redcliffe. People had barricaded themselves into their tattered hovels. Some houses were still open though, and Trev wandered into one only for the occupant to say "Hello, stranger." in a creepy voice. Perhaps a distant relative of the merchant from RE4.  :? He must be the only sane man in Thedas though, 'cause no one else seems to mind a stranger barging in and ransacking their house.  :P

All these houses have grass on the roof. Even the Mayor's house. Think they ever have rooftop picnics in the summer?

Instead of pressing straight onto the Keep, Trev went to find a herbalist named Judith. She's remarkably sane and relaxed, for a person living in the wilderness during an undead uprising. She'd make a good Inquisitioner.  ^_^ Didn't seem interested in joining though. Trev decided to kill some wyverns for her. Once they were dead, the little clearing seemed quite pretty. Probably romantic in better weather. Though Cassandra seems less interested in skinny-dipping and more interested in walking into a pond in full plate armour.  :P

There's red lyrium all over the place. If the Inquisition isn't able to get on top of this problem, what's going to happen? Dagna better have a miracle hidden up her sleeves!

They cleared out the Keep, and the Inquisition moved in sharpish. Trev moved out with the same speed when he saw the requisition officer trying to make eye contact.

The team headed down to an abandoned pub. It's in a rather nice spot, though you'd have a serious problem with people drowning in a different kind of drink, considering it's sat on a dam. Inside was a young couple who prompted a disgusted noise from Cass. Trev and Dorian found the whole thing pretty entertaining. He ended up having to push the damn controls on his own, despite there being four handles. Lazy sods!

On the way to old Crestwood, they nipped into a cave underneath the Keep.

Dorian: "Just once, we should enter a cave and find normal-sized spiders!"

I feel your pain, dear. Somewhere in Crestwood, Hawke is laughing. She says it's not a real giant spider unless it's large enough to hollow out and live inside.

The gang whizzed through the flooded cave, with Sera disgusted about the drowned villagers, and Dorian nerding over the dwarven ruins. Just before exiting was my favourite part.

Spoiler

So cute!  ^_^

Found someone's picnic spot (lovely views... and a shield made of cheese?)

Spoiler

We then made a brief trip to meet Hawke and Alistair.

Spoiler

Hawke made an angry face most of the time. Alistair was in better spirits. A little bitter sometimes. Honestly, you make one risky deal with a mysterious amoral swamp witch, and you're tainted for life. Maybe you should just done the ultimate sacrifice, Alistair. Cousland would be a happy bunny with Leliana either way!  :P

No offence to good old Stroud, but I definitely prefer having Alistair or Loghain be the contact. There's just so much more nostalgia involved! Best I can say about Stroud is he has that whole 'you saved my brother/sister's life' thing with Hawke. Oh, and the lip-ferret.

I hope Nug Elope's not an April Fool's thing. All hail the subterranean bunny pigs!

Wish I could give you another like for "lip-ferret" Vesperia

I've pretty much spent the day killing time (dusted off ye ol' Tales of the Abyss for a bit) while waiting for Cullen to get done saving Clan Lavellan. He finally did, so Revas can take her new halla off to explore the rest of the Wastes in style in a little while.

Until then, she helped Bull try to form an alliance between the Inquisition and Qunari. She took Dorian (and Varric), which apparently was a terrible idea because, as it turns out, Tevinter and Qunari agents? Not so cooperative. Dorian and Gatt, Bull's friend in the Ben-Hasrath, argued most of the way (Varric quietly stood back, for a change - after what happened in Kirkwall, Revas can't blame him) until it came time to defend the dreadnought...or save the Chargers. This was a no-brainer for Revas, and she chose Krem and the others. Bull called the retreat and the dreadnought was lost (exploded! Would've been cool if it weren't such a bad thing). Gatt was not pleased, Revas said they'd try to make it up to them, but Gatt said that wouldn't happen. Looks like Bull's Tal-Vashoth now. He assured Revas it'd be fine, though, after a couple spies tried to kill him. Revas thinks he was just relieved his men survived. They're going to try to find out who replaces the agents they lost, so hopefully it won't be a complete loss.

Just Vivienne's personal quest left now, and I'm saving that until after the Arbor Wilds to make up for the approval loss I know I'll be getting  :P

Well my boss is still on vacation at work so things are still been quite stressful so...enough about that lol.

I decided to hit up Qwahilin a bit more:

Qwal_09_zpsaw8qndyn.jpg?t=1427841194

The reason why I played him a bit was in the "Help on a quest" section on this website someone said they were having issues with romancing Dorian for some reason. I told him that I was able to romance him with Draven Vollsa but the person said "i am not sure if it's possible to do if you play the templar story line because I played the templar story line and at least finished one of his missions". I told the person that it should be possible one way or another but one of the reasons why i was able to was because i played the mage storyline and not the templar story line. I think the quest the person did was the one where he met Dorian's dad? I think the big factor in that mission is having Dorian reconcile with his dad and then talk to him again and pick the hear option which should kick in the romance. I still have a long ways to got to confirm that because I hit Val Rioyux and just got these following three people.

Speaking of Vivianne. The one noble I had Vivianne kill didn't show up in WICKED MINDS, WICKED HEARTS when I played Vyre Dite so I missed some + points. When Qwahilin reaches WICKED MINDS, WICKED HEARTS this guy won't show up. I kind of did it in character because like how I played Kelbaton in DRAGON AGE 2 (took Sebastion, Fenris, and Anders. romanced Fenris) I intend to have Qwahilin run a sausage fest (probably Iron Bull, Cole and Dorian) and romance Dorian when the time comes.

I did hit up Chasimess a bit more though...

Spoiler

I wound up getting some friendship points from Cassandra only to lose them.

I made some progress in Storm Coast and did bash the waterfall fade portal, snagged some shards and finished the "dark spawn trouble" quest there. I finished the spider mission in the oasis and finished the fire route in the shrine. I sacked the Freeman of the Dales base in the meadows which was a bit messy but is said and done. I'm still having issues with the last portal in Hinderlands. Hopefully when i hit 15 I'll finally beat it. The bloody two rage demons keep getting Iron Bull and other people in seconds and not really me since I am controlling myself to do stuff. I also made a new shield for Blackwall, new gear and a new dagger for Chasimess.

Will be romancing Iron Bull in my current game, so I'm donning Dagna's Wond'rous Boots of Spoiler Dodging (+1 enchantment if you don't quote the spoiler you"re hoping to avoid *ahem* ).

I've just unlocked the Storm Coast, but haven't been to Val Royeaux yet, so I'm still kinda far away from even meeting the big guy yet. I look forward to coming back and reading the question :P

Sidenote: DW rogue is all kinds of fun so far. Only just reached level five, so have Stealth, Twin Fangs, and Flank Attack for talents, and they are an amazingly effective one-two punch for Kubrie. It's fun to watch her dance around like Cole did in Dofni's game. ... Oh, I added Caltrops with my last levelup but only because I'm after the passives in that tree branch, heh.

I haven't done it myself so this is just from what I've heard elsewhere but IB romance spoiler tag, just in case.

Spoiler

In any case, I love DW rogue!  :D Glad to see others trying it out. I highly recommend Evade, too, since it helps with closing the distance between enemies, dodging, and getting up hills or across big jumps you otherwise couldn't make. I'd also recommend doing Tempest again - it's just a whole lot of fun!

That said, Revas just hit level 24 and finally finished exploring the Hissing Wastes with her new hart; completed another mosaic, found all but the last 2 bottles (which I hope are in the Oasis, otherwise I missed something...), cleared all the quests/collectibles, etc. At the very end of it all, I also fought the last dragon, and was pretty disappointed. I ended up fighting her four times total on Nightmare.

The first time, just to see if I could, I used a fully upgraded Mighty Offense and Flask of Fire, then used Thousand Cuts with two high-level crafted daggers, one of which had a FT for Hidden Blades...Sandy lasted less than a minute, even without more buffs or using any exploits  :P

The second time, I did the same thing without any buffs, but using TC. Guess it's just a bit OP

Third try's the charm, right? Nah. I did the same thing as my first run, just with no TC and, uh, still less than a two or three minute fight. How? Not sure! I guess Mighty Offense, Flask of Fire, Hidden Blades and Bees work well together?

Fourth time I turned all potions, including health, off, used lower level, non-crafted weapons and no focus abilities. Still over-leveled, but it was so much more fun  ^_^

In conclusion, try to pick on dragons your own level and avoid TC if you want a fair fight  :P

I guess it doesn't matter whether your Tempest is an archer or a DW, heh. They make dragon fights short. I took Cole everywhere I went last game, and I watched him from time to time slicing things up and stealthing all over the place and I thought, "I have to try that"... So it's good to hear an endorsement as well, and thanks for the tip about Evasion. I was kinda leaning towards Artificer this time -- but I'm also planning on taking Varric out on quests a lot this time -- it's his turn, heh -- so I'm thinking I might go Assassin, just to try new things.

Assassin is loads of fun. Mark of Death + Hidden Blades FTW! I'm really liking Tempest but I keep forgetting to use the flasks since I'm too busy leap-shotting away from trouble ( or into Crestwood Lake). I used TC on Gordion in the Plains and it sliced and diced him up good. Hah, take that undead-raising guy! Undead are so much less of a pain when not playing NM. :D There's still too many of them though.

Eh, no screenies today since the Plains are boring. Maybe if I decide to go after Gamordan Stormrider though....

I wonder... if you have Hidden Blades as a talent, and then have gear crafted with fade-touched material that adds Hidden Blades attacks, do they stack? ... In Dofni's game, her greatsword was crafted with added hidden blades attacks and, while it was only supposed to be a 10% chance, she seemed to get those extra hits fairly often.

Today in the Qun'ari inquisition... I took a trip down memory lane and recalled the first time I, both as the player and the character I was role-playing, butted heads (so to speak) with the Qun. It was in DA:O, my city elf had ended what should have been the happiest day of her life -- according to dear old Dad anyway -- by carving a bloody path of mayhem through the Arl of Denerim's castle, decapitating his son for defiling her beloved cousin Shianni, and then leaving her home to join the grey wardens, where after witnessing the betrayal of the king and the remaining grey wardens (but two) at the hands of his own general, she was put in charge by default of saving the world. The peasants in the first village she came to after this tried to kill her -- so did some bandits, and some bears (surprise surprise), and some spiders, and some wolves, and even some darkspawn... and before she left there, she freed the first qun'ari she'd ever met in her life from a cage where he otherwise seemed pleased to remain until he died. When they made camp later, one of the first things he said to her was, "you can't be a grey warden because you're a woman, and the Qun states..."

That was my first exposure to the Qun -- I'm not including my first warden in this remembrance, because whenever anyone but Morrigan spoke to him, he just rolled his eyes and made talky motions with his hands until they went away. Sometimes he yawned if it took longer than usual. B) -- I'm only kidding, I honestly don't remember that first warden ever butting heads with Sten over the Qun because, he was a guy for one thing, and a warrior for another, and he pretty much just left Sten alone in camp most of the time to eat cookies and brood. Anyway, when my city elf had that conversation with Sten I almost booted him out of the camp, and I think I've done pretty well to keep an open mind about the Qun since then :P

So... I'm talking about all this because today Josephine asked Kubrie about her thoughts on the Qun, since she wasn't raised in it, and the possibility of having a qun'ari be the Herald of Andraste seemed to be upsetting to a lot of people. I'm almost tempted to play along  ... but Kubrie told Josephine that she could see herself joining the Qun one day, and Josephine begged her not to tell anyone that. I'm playing Kubrie this way because this is a real game of firsts for me; Qun'ari rogue, romancing Iron Bull,  and sacrificing the Chargers for an alliance with the qun'ari. So I kinda want to play an inquisitor who is amenable to the Qun for a change.

Since that first near-fatal (for him!) argument with Sten, I've come to accept him as one of my favourite characters, and I think I've said before that I'm kinda modeling Kubrie's decision-making thought-processes on Sten's decision-making thought processes. I feel like he would see no choice but to support the Qun. Am I wrong about that? I have no doubt there are many many people here who know more about Sten than I do, heh. I dunno how long I'm gonna styay with modeling Kubrie that way, because I fell like I've already done alot that Sten wouldn't have; helping refugees find blankets and food and medicine, etc. and I also plan on siding with the mages this time too.

Anyway, that's what I've been doing; finding blankets and food and medicine for the refugees, collecting lots of power and influence, and shards, and elfroot and other various crafting materials -- no more nugskin, Nightingale ;) -- closing rifts, solving astrarium puzzles, measuring the veil for Solas, collecting mosaic tiles. Just finished off the apostate mages in the Witchwood, and am now heading for the Templar camp to take care of them. I want to go to Redcliffe next and recruit Tanner as an agent for the Inquisition, because it's time to pick another perk, and if I get Tanner first, I can choose "Deft Hands" :D ... then I think it will be time to go to Val Royeaux so I can start recruiting some other party members. My go to party this time will feature Iron Bull of course -- I'm going to respec him for sword-and-shield so he wont die so much --  and I'm thinking of alternating Varric and Sera, and also alternating Viv and Dorian. I'm really leaning towards Varric this time, because in three PT's, I've never taken him anywhere unless I had to. And I'm also leaning towards Dorian for mage support. Siding with the mages will mean greater involvement for him anyway. Maybe he and Kubrie can form a friendship.

EDIT: Almost forgot; heard this banter between Varric and Cassie on our way to the Templar camp. It made me laugh.

Cassie: There's almost no mention of yourself in your Tales of the Champion, Varric.
Varric: Uhh... I don't want to bore people.
Cassie: You don't want to incriminate yourself, you mean.
Varric: Uhh... same thing, really.

People who have played DA2 might remember Varric's initial depiction of the events at Bertrand's haunted house. I don't think Cassie would have believed anything he wrote about himself in his own book.

Edit: I agree with everyone who likes the dual wielding rogue (in particular assassin). Hidden Blades and the Mark Of Death combination are very effective and at the moment are taking around 2000 hp per strike. I am not sure if the hidden blade fade-touched ability stacks but it seems to trigger after every few strikes. So having an assassin inquisitor with Cole can result in flying daggers everywhere :D

...and thanks for the tips about the hidden blades. I took Cole with me everywhere in my last game, and I'm gonna mostly leave him on the sidelines this time, since I'll pretty much have two rogues in the group already. besides, I don't want him stealing my kills. :P

Came to the realization that Nightmare mode becomes Easy mode when you have 2 Knight Enchanters + Cassandra on the front lines with Sera unleashing a hellstorm of arrows in the distance. Team Female Fatale is unstoppable.
