So I've decided I don't much like Solas. As a character he's great and extremely fascinating and I want to know wtf happened after the credits rolled. As a person, different story. He's a liar and a hypocrite, and if you don't agree with him, he doesn't like you. Now, I understand most companions operate this way, otherwise the approval system would be meaningless, but unless you 100% agree with him, he disapproves, even if you give a neutral response.

Behold the very first thing Solas says when you meet him in Haven:

Spoiler

He did nothing?! He's the reason there's a huge hole in the sky; he's the reason you're a prisoner and have a very painful glowy thing on your hand. Oh, but he saved you from the glowy thing almost killing you. Yeah, because he's hoping you can fix his huge mess. Grrr....

I already ranted about what he does to Cole a few weeks ago so I won't repeat it. But, the short version: hypocrite.

On to more fun topics. Marcus met Dorian in the Haven Chantry. Now comes the hard part....romance Cass (first time) or Dorian (again)? Dorian or Cass? Both are very photogenic, as you can see here:

I thought I was the only one who wasted an hour trying to get that thing!

I tried everything, including Tacticial glitching and Fade Stepping/long jumping across the gap from the rocks that lead to the Chantry door. Nothing worked.

Aha! I can finally scratch my inner completionist! Thank you, thank you.

Haha, nope! And now that I've watched that video, I'm probably going to have to do it at least once. :P Nothing can beat the many, many hours I spent in my first game trying to get past that door on the Storm Coast though. The one that opens via operation later. <_<

Don't feel too bad, I did the same thing in the Western Approach. Who puts a big old titan gate right near the first camp without a way to get in? A sadist, that's who.

Besides, there's a perfectly legit reason to want to get into Red Water on The Storm Coast before level 16. I banged my head against that door for two hours trying to figure out a way to get to Vinsomer for my Dragon Hunter Challenge. I finally found a way in -- well, more like over than in. I made this video that shows how to do it.

Well that loot bag in Redcliffe Village really paid off for me. I was able to cross off all of these items from my Fereldan bucket list:

  • Ride horseback all the way around Lake Calenhad
  • Explore Redcliffe Castle, on the outside, and in the right time zone
  • Explore the blighted ruins of Redcliffe Village
  • See what's on the other side of the broken bridge (two Elfroot there, what a find!)
  • Indulge my hobby of waterwheel photography

Ah, Chief Movran, you are the greatest Non-Companion Character in the game. No matter how I judge you, you always find the funny side of it. I wish I could have you as a companion and together with Sera the three of us would have lots of fun doing pranks and stuff all over Skyhold and beyond

Movran for companion in DA4!

That guy is a full five minutes of excellence. How do you always get such fanastic pictures! Especially with the annotations, I love them. The adventures of Mr Phalanx had me chuckling for ages!

I love taking lots of different pictures. I like having pics that sort of show the characters themselves, show their emotions / relationships, and pictures that are purely just fancy action. And the occasional bug/glitch when they happen  :P

About the annotations, I guess you could say I have a very vivid imagination. While I'm playing the game I always get all manner of ideas going through my mind. I'm very much a role-player at heart, even though I hardly ever really consider myself as such. It is simply a part of me, has always been a part of me, and it all happens automatically on some kind of subconscious level or such. People always tell me that when I talk about my characters I assume their role, and I don't even notice it myself.

You can get to a lot of OOB (out of bounds) areas by using your horse to sometimes jump up and over the boundaries.  It's a real pain in the butt, but it is worth it.  Also, every once in awhile you find something like an elfroot you can pick, so you know some programmer  left the areas explorable on purpose.  There is a thread about some of the areas and how people got to them.  I think its titled what is this funny green mark in the hinterlands or something like that.

Last night Holden, Dorian, Iron Bull and Sera killed the Northern Hunter. Sera and Iron Bull were very excited about this.  Met with Stroud and Hawke and cleared out the rest of the Crestwood quests.  Farmed some Nevarrite  and Volcanic Aurum in the Hissing Wastes and banished Crestwood's mayor.  Then Holden got drunk with Iron Bull to celebrate the dragon slaying.

Auuggh, no! I already wasted too much game time goofing around in the Redcliffe OOB area. Must. Not. Search. For. Thread.

This is all making me want to boot up DAI again...Think the Reapers will wait patiently 'till Shep gets back to finish destroying the galaxy?

I never actually found much use for mounts outside the Hissing Wastes. Nice to see they truly do allow...further exploration  :P

Second attempt at the rift by the river was a success B) Kubrie is my new hero. Solas and his fire staff had nothing to do with it. Iron Bull is the only one who didn't make it through the end of the fight, shocking as that is. Instead of moving directly on to the Fallow Mire, however, the group is going to wrap things up with the master of Horses, which means marking locations for watch towers, and dealing with some wolves. After that, kubrie will actually be pretty much done in the Hinterlands... err, apart from the dragon of course. All that's left is the mercenary fortress in the southwest corner, Valammar, and those three great bears.

EDIT: So... just occurred to me that there is a potential here now, thanks to the patch, that I can collect all twelve pieces of The Fall mosaic before reaching Skyhold. Has anyone done this yet? I wondered if there were any problems, like when you need to find some decorative gems for the requisitions officer but can't because everyone who drops them is already dead.  <_<

Well, I've picked up the two pieces that I know were previously bugged -- the one in the wolf cave, and the one behind the astrarium near Dennet's farm. I know it was still possible to reach that piece, with some jumping and climbing around, but now it's not necessary. But what I wanted to know was whether anyone had any trouble with collecting all twelve pieces before reaching Skyhold and meeting the guy who will hang them on the walls.

I've been playing DAI a fair amount in my current playthrough that I need to get back to my current ME playthrough.

I might be in the minority where I've only used a mount to get that power point in the Hinterlands on the farm. My femquisitor believes in running to where she needs to get. It makes her heart stronger and builds up her endurance

Well i decided to make two new inquisitors.

My first is a male 2H warrior dwarf Rubblocke:

Rub_02_zpsjxpy6kjn.jpg?t=1429835947

Rub_07_zps4ktoyyat.jpg?t=1429835951

I made a couple male dwarves way back in DAO (noble and caste) and liked how they looked but never finished them because I was tired of playing DAO and don't like playing as dwarves to much.

My second is a female elf mage named Vlah'Nu

VlahNu_03_zpssvtajig9.jpg?t=1429835951

VlahNu_04_zpsm26plcoo.jpg?t=1429835951

Believe it or not I came up with this character way back in DAO but deleted her because I played way to many mages (Sas-Tasha, Moonphase, Vayhura Dite, a male which I cannot remember and maybe a few others) so I felt I was playing the mage class to death. i really want to play a serious elf character so maybe playing a elf mage maybe the way to go. I am unsure when I want to get back to Qwahilin (male elf DWK rouge) since I beat Chasimess (female human DWK rouge) on NIGHTMARE.

By the way I am playing both of these character on HARD (not nightmare).

I did get back to playing as Meltelwin

Spoiler

I forgot to mention thank you NIGHTENGALE and Melbella. I do agree with all three of you Nighetngale, Melbella and themikefest that beating NIGHTMARE really meant something because early on it's a bloody chore because on easier difficulties places like the Hinderlands and maybe Storm Coast is a sinch but on NIGHTMARE it's NOT a piece of cake where the portals will kick your butt, human units will tactically beat you before you know it with smart archery, and bears seem unbeatable and will one hit kill you. Honestly I was shocked that once I got setup very well around levels 15-23 I had the game beat and just had to play my fights smart.

PS to mellbella:

I remember in one post you said: "Marcus had a big day in the Hinterlands. He picked a few bushels of elfroot and killed a bunch of rams (well, Varric did the killing part with his nifty crossbow). "

I did a-lot of that on NIGHTMARE difficulty. I went to the fort Calenhend (or whatever it's name was) in the Hinderlands and always plucked my elfroots there. Also thanks to the "at 10% you may pick additional more" inquisition perk I would at times get a "obtained elfroot x 6" or "obtained elfroot x9" there and wind up getting a stock of 30 elfroots there easy almost at times. Also constantly getting material for weapons and armor was always a plus on NIGHTMARE. I wound up making a dagger with the attack power of 400 thanks to collecting a garbage ton of materials. Speaking of Verric I am tempted of always taking him along for Rubblocke.

to Papacharlie:

For the one locked cave in the Storm Coast in order to get it unlocked theres a WAR TABLE mission you need to do regarding "RED TEMPLARS" or something. once you "UNLOCKED A NEW AREA" this cave will be open. Once you navigate through it (and potentially finsih this side quest) you should be able to reach the dragon by traditional means.

PS to others: I do intend on playing Chasimess in the DLC (whenever the XBOX 360 gets it). I intend to try with Draven and Vyre first on NORMAL then give Chasimess a try on it on NIGHTMARE

I have been tempted to going back to reaper bashing since I have a NIGHTMARE difficulty run on ME 1 as well as a several new characters to run on ME 1 and followup people on ME 2 and ME 3.

I only run the horse in the Hissing Wastes myself but have used the horse to go across the bridge in Du Lion since it's a loooooong bridge.

Did I forget anything or anyone? Lol. I keep adding new stuff to this post. Lol.

I am pretty sure there is no issue with all the tiles showing up for that one. I did have 1 tile that was missing on the wall for another though (the one next to the door leading to the garden). I think the community patch fixed that but I don't have it installed anymore. :( Or maybe it only glitches out sometimes.

Here's a pic I took in Olinar's game showing all 3 complete on the first floor:

Spoiler

Edit: Hey, Spork, I forgot to mention earlier....last game I took Bull with me everywhere (all 10 dragons, the Fade, etc) and he did just fine. He needed very little babysitting and survived just about everything the game threw at us.

Spoiler
I completely ignored his specialization, maxxed out 2H and loaded up on Vanguard and Battlemaster passives. I was also playing on casual/easy mode.  :D
