Holy crap, my game just glitched out when I tried to judge Crassius Servis. All of a sudden I was able to walk around the gathered audience and Josephine all frozen with no idea what happened.

The highest I've gotten is halfway past level 24. I haven't gotten the Jaws dlc yet, so I don't know much higher I will go

If you're still early in level 24, defeating Corypheus will bring you up to level 25. I don't know how much XP he gives, but that is a lot of XP. I don't like playing post-ending, and so, I haven't bothered with defeating him yet. I'm sure JoH DLC will help us at least get to level 25. My squad mates are almost to level 24. Lolz!

Is it like almost impossible to reach level 30? I can hardly get past 24.

I've ended the game twice at level 25.  But never higher.

A helpful tip for folks that may not know about that I just found out about.

When fighting the high dragon, The Hiveral, I used dispel when it used its icy wind barrier. It worked and I wasn't frozen and neither were my companions. Dispel will not work on its cold breath

Dispel will not work on the other high dragon, The  Kaltenzahn, since it only uses its cold breath

Dispel and Spell Purge work on the targets after they've been hit by the cold breath, ice balls, whatnot.

Where did you target Dispel to break the icy wind barrier? On Hivernal's head, or on the barrier?

I know. It seems the game has to be played in a certain order to get all available experience points. That's alright. I won't lose any sleep over it

Yeah, I saw the levels of the regions somewhere, but I don't remember where. Tho I wrote down the Levels of the High Dragons, they give you a good indication which levels would be good for the region they live in.

  • Fereldan Frostback Lvl 12
  • Northern Hunter Lvl 13
  • Abyssal High Dragon Lvl 14
  • Gamordan Stormrider Lvl 15
  • Greater Mistral Lvl 17
  • Hivernal Lvl 19
  • Vinsomer Lvl 19
  • Sandy Howler Lvl 20
  • Kaltenzahn Lvl 21
  • Highland Ravager Lvl 23

I just killed the Abyssal High Dragon in the Westren Approach and received no experience points. I guess my level 21 Inquisitor was too much for the dragon to get the points. I'll remember that for my next playthrough

Yeah, if your experience level is more than +5 above any enemy, you get nada XP -- there's a Codex tutorial for that, but I can't find it on the wiki.

Did you get still the Power and Influence for the kill? I've been curious about that.

Better? Tho idk why telling someone the level of a boss is a bad spoiler? I always look first at the Dragon levels before I fight them, so that I don't get roasted. Like I did with my Lvl 7-8 party when I first met the Fereldan Frostback  :pinched: (which was per accident, I only wanted to explore the area, not fight the High Dragon)

That's the highest I've finished after defeating Corypheus, so I'm sure once I get the Jaws dlc, I can get to a higher level

That I did not know. Thanks for the tip

In front of its head by its mouth

As I said in another post, I'm not going to worry about it. I should've realized the level I was at when dealing with the dragon. I still haven't been to Crestwood and the Exalted Plains, and I'm halfway past level 21. I'm sure I will be missing out on a lot of experience points

Did you get still the Power and Influence for the kill? I've been curious about that.

Yes. I got both

So things are starting to come together for the Inquisition.  Recruited Blackwall, Sera joined up, Vivienne has been left to contemplate her own futility, and the Chantry is still a bunch of prigs.  lol.  I actually have vids which I may share later, if people are interested.  And it was so funny I thought *sneezes* when seeing all the greenery in Blackwalls recruitment scene, because you know...sympathetic allergies.  And I think I may just...maybe have just one more point to spend in Subterfuge before I can start focusing on Archery, thank the Maker.

I really love second playthroughs.  As much as I loved playing Ben and as much as he is probably my favorite Male there is just something, usually, about a second playthrough.  You know the game now, have a better idea of what you are doing, so you can role play, and man is Kara shaping up to being really intriguing.  An odd mixture of attributes she is.

Ah well.  Off to the marathon of side quests, or at least soon...may recruit Bull first...may not...but soon the legion of side quests and trying to find runes and hats and crafting materials and schematics before I hit Champions of the Just.

Well, this truly ruined my day.

After a Two. ******. Hour. Long. fight against Kaltenzahn, my team got killed when I was finally close to finishing it.

Look, I had everything. Powerful skills, great equipment for everyone and constant use of the tactical camera to move them out of ice blasts and such.

I also made sure to focus on the dragonlings whenever they spawned.

My team was Dorian (mastered fire spells), Cassandra and Bull.

Aw, sorry to hear that, Qun. Maybe try crafting some armour or leveling up a bit?

@ Naclyn - This?

Spoiler

I always wondered whose disembodied head that was, thought maybe it was meant to be Andraste, thanks for pointing out that it was Alexius :P
I think you're right. I mean, by the end I doubt he cared about any of it given how he was locking himself away and his reaction to Leliana killing Felix. But before that? Maybe it started out being for his son, but once he got a taste for power he completely sold out. And made giant statues of himself that end up floating because he's destroying the world. And paintings of Blackwall. Apparently.

Take control of Dorian. Have him constantly keep barriers up for companions. This might help. The other thing that might help is make Iron Bull use a sword and shield. I did that in one of my playthroughs and he did very well.

Def not Alexius, looks way too different.  Looks something like a Tevinter Magister should look.  Corypheus before he was corrupted by the Blight?

If you mean barriers as in that skill from the spirit element, I haven't put any points into that one.

Yes I do. It makes a big difference. Since you don't, you could craft armor along with the arms and legs to have cold resistance for each companion. Even craft something with melee defense. Even have a belt, if you have one, that adds cold resistance

Maybe it's because I play on Nightmare and you need every edge you can get, but to me the idea of doing anything without barrier is madness  Definitely put at least one point into that, if you can. I'd invest in Dispel, too. Very helpful for rifts and it has a few benefits for dragon fights as well. Guardian Spirit is also helpful, if you're having problems keeping Dorian (or any mage) alive. Revive is great, too, for obvious reasons, even more so with the Life Ward upgrade. The Spirit tree is actually one of the most useful this time around, in my opinion. Of course, I was always a Spirit Healer so maybe I'm just biased?

Given how things turned out, good sculptors are probably in short supply. Alexius is a Magister, maybe they were taking, uh, artistic license for the statue? :P Regardless, I thought Coryphelius was playing at god, going by the Elder One, would he just freely admit he was an old Magister?

I'll check if Dorian still has any available points.

Just one more thing... is there any way to avoid getting caught when the dragon pulls you in with its wings? That move deals a fair amount of damage to your team.

I heard some of the throne's were bugged, but I think it was the Qunari one, so I wasn't sure if it was just for that one in particular. Maybe it's the larger size? Lol

As soon as it starts flapping its wings, run towards it to avoid any unecessary damage. Once it stops, go back to the area you were at before if possible. Barrier will help reduce the damage as will a fade touched item that gives guard

If he doesn't and you continue to have problems, respec him with one of those amulets from the blacksmith.

As far as I know, there's no way to completely escape it. That said, I move my characters towards the dragon, since you don't take damage inside the "eye of the storm" sort of area, right around the dragon. Fade Step, Combat Roll, Evade, etc. work exceptionally well for this, since you'll be moving closer and you'll be relatively safe for the duration of the ability. May not seem like much, but every second counts.
