Finally stopped playing MP long enough to explore the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. First thing I did was hit the Black Emporium, though! I fixed enough of the imperfections that I'm semi-satisfied, but I might go tweak my appearance again later on. I got some pretty swet loot after closing two rifts in the Frostback Basin and a nifty treehouse/camp, so I'm a happy Inquisitor atm.

And the last thing I have to say about today's DAO experience...
That Orphanage? Nothing... not even a Broodmother or trip to the a future Thedas infested with demons was as horrifying as that place! Heck I would rather kiss Corypheus passionately on the lips than ever go in that place again! Poor blind Templar died before we got to the end. Ghostly Mabari ate his innards... get that song out of my head!!

Took a break from DAI and finally conquered DAO and... wow! I did it in 3 days! Archdemon was easy to beat, but the final battle was epic, especially thanks to my Warden Amell and Loghain (they shared the finishing blow to end the battle, though Amell did the final final blow lol. Just too perfect after they became close friends)! Just beat Awakening (Alistair still holds a grudge about Loghain lol and I saved both the City and the Keep) and now I'm playing DA2 again. I find many things in DAI connecting now. Loving this!
Seeing Haven as it was, and even recognizing the area though it was more built up in DAI was fun! I saw what Josie's office looked like 10 years earlier and the room where the Brother is, became a bedroom in DAI. Redcliffe too had similarities between games.
Also I think I met Sera... or heard her I should say. Gave a painted wooden box to a Red Jenny home, and heard a child giggle. She did say she was 10 in DAO (and the Red Jenny note had doodles on it like she does in DAI). And Justice not only opened my eyes to DA2 more, but also helped me see Cole differently, Wynne too helped me gain a better perspective on spirits. Cole is definitely unique.
I really recommend playing DAO and DA2 again if you haven't in a long time. It makes DAI even more sweeter, and gives you a different perspective than you might have had last time you played. I know for me it did.
I've only played DAO before and I didn't even beat it... but I'll definitely have to now 
And is DA2 worth playing despite the recycled dungeons and stuff? Am I better off watching a playthrough on YT instead?

It depends on the person really. some people did not like it at all. while others loved it. from a personal stand point its always better to play it through at least once so that you can make your own choices about everything instead of watching someone else's choices.

im in the emerald grave atm and I've got to the star gazing things. there is the one up north that is a 4 sided star. well I've done it about 6 times and every time i forget how to do it and am sat there for half an hour trying to figure it out and i feel really really stupid about it as i remember almost all the others.
then i post this and i get it first time afterwards. oh and i realised i was skipping/ missing one line

I'd say maybe watch a video of the DA2 prologue and decide from there. I watched maybe one or two videos of the beginning and it cemented me wanting to play it for myself.
I enjoyed the game too.

I finished replaying my female Trevelyan character. I ended up with Leliana as Divine, which wasn't my intention. But I'm okay with this. I'm still angry at how some rare schematics can't be used by my characters, i.e. Dalish Scout armor and Legion of the Dead armor.

I like the game. If you do decide to play it, get the dlc's. I find the dlc's better than the main game

I find it worth it since it all helps lead up to DAI. It's like you're playing a trilogy novel series recreated in a game. If you can look past the repeated caves and get involved with the deeper story and rather interesting romances/friendships, you can easily get swept away by it. I loved the Qunari story in Act 2 the best, it was really interesting and gave you a different view of them. You also get to discover and be part of why all hell breaks loose in DAI. I say try it. You can simply stop anytime if you get bored or dislike it. It'll also make the sacrifice in DAI more intense too. If you bond with your Hawke you might find it hard to leave them. I know it was hard for me after spending months shaping her in my game.
I don't mind watching a PT to see if I will like or try a new game, but to be shaping the story with your own choices makes it so much more rewarding imo.

I noticed something funny.
Note: I play in German, so I hear German voices. (my Lavellan has the younger male voice, which is really nice~)
I did the In The Saddle quest and while I went through the race track, I noticed that my Lavellan suddenly had a different, much deeper voice. I think they didn't do a voice over for the fight noises/horse riding and it's weird.
