So, I had one leftover quest in the Frostback Basin.

Spoiler

Oh, I noticed from the money vault pic I previously posted, some of the gold coins oddly looked like the green ranger's power coin.

After returning from the Basin, Natalia (DW Assassin) finally went shopping for a new big bed in Val Royeaux, because Cullen complained that he couldn't fit on her old twin sized bed and kept falling off at night.

i was looking at a thing "top 10 inquisition perks" and half of them i personally don't agree with but what ever. what i found most interesting is that the person said that on average by the end of the game you will have 12 inquisition points/perks. and here i am only just left hawk in the fade and i still have that huge desert to work through while i do war table content and I've already got 16 and I'm a third of the way into the next. and I'm wondering did he just go story story story and skip everything else?

anyway only just loved into the game so time to set war table things then off to the massive desert.

Only 12?! Yeah, you have to not do a ton of stuff to only get up to 12. The lowest I have finished the game with is 17....I maxed it at 20 on my NM run where I bought influence left and right. I was very annoyed to learn I couldn't go any higher than that. <_< I hope they raise that and the pc level limit at some point.

Well, I seem to be constantly rewarded with new T4 schematics and random epic weapons in chests. I'm now kin of regretting buying those two exorbitantly expensive schematics that I picked up at the Black Emporium - woops. Last night I just ran into an Inquisition outpost (not an actual camp with a marker on the map) and noticed a chest. I opened it and got a level 23 epic bow - lol.

I think I read somewhere that the better the schematics you have, the better ones that drop? Sounds like a conspiracy to me, but maybe that means your gold wasn't wasted after all? :)

I hope that's true! I guess it's not so bad, really. The only thing that gold was going to do prior to the DLC was sit in my Quizzy's wallet (well, now that I think about it, that gold could have paid for a lot of tiny desserts - mmm, chocolate...).

You know I am spending a lot more money this playthrough then last.  But it seems I always have money to burn too.

Wow, this is such a fun game.  Reading everyone's descriptions gives me so many ideas.  Please, keep 'em coming!

Regarding perks, it depends.  If you don't count the perks you get by rushing around like a mad dog to get agents, you have less usable ones available.  Trainee herbalists is cool to speed you to Deft Hands and get you royal elfroot or crystal grace for the herbalist, but you're better off just collecting the herbs and recruiting Ritts and Anais.  If you're lucky, you'll meet a bear and have some critical chance boosting to add to your repetoire.  After that, it's north to treat the asthmatic and do Blood Brothers and recruit Tanner, and you can access the locked doors before you even meet Alexius.  Grinding bothers many people, but if it doesn't, you can really optimize on your perks.  It doesn't bother me at all, at least not in the Hinterlands.  What can I say, it's a peaceful place once you put out the biggest fires, and I like to go back again and again to collect herbs and unwind.  If the color scheme was like the Emerald Graves, another favorite hangout, I'd probably never want to leave.

By level 23 or 4, I doubt there are many perks you really need.  I know by the time I fight Cory, I'm usually asking merchants to let me know if there's a special.  Does anyone know if that perk is broken?  I don't think I've ever gotten any junk mail from them, which would be a first.

With regards to Inquisition perks, I usually get around 17 or 18 total, with very few requisitions and no bought Influence (I totally forgot that was a thing  ). Aside from the dialogue perks (Underworld/Arcane/Nobility/History Knowledge), which are always good, I've found Secrets the most useful, with Optimal Cutting, Deft Hands, Eagle-eyed (on PS4/X1/High graphics settings on PC), Enhanced Studies, and Forward Scouts, in that order, though I'd skip Eagle-eyed on last gen or lower PC settings, since you can't really see items anyway other than on the radar unless you're basically right on top of them. Forces is good too, with both Focus perks, True Grit, and More Healing Potions. Connections are more useful now with Black Emporium, since everything is expensive and most of hers deal with money. The Short List has always been good (you can actually buy the items for all the specializations with it), but now I also quite like the discounts/increase in items' selling prices. I've found the Party Storage Chest limits the usefulness of the Inquisition listing aside from the obviously amazing Tempered Glass Flasks, but if you have trouble managing your inventory and like to spend a lot of time in the field without return trips to Skyhold, both of the Tailoring perks are useful.

I've always found the one-off perks, like the Herbalist ones, to be a waste. There's more than 20 Agents. Even if you don't grind, you're bound to stumble across enough agents and Influence to get everything you want. I agree that it's better to get Ritts and Anais right off the bat, then get Tanner as soon as Redcliffe Village is open to get Deft Hands right away, but you could hold off until Jana, Frederic, Alexius, Servis or your own chosen perks later on, to get it. It's not like those doors are going anywhere :P

And now I've typed up a long-winded wall of text. My apologies. Again.

Oh okay, we're talking about perks?

The first four points, I always use for the four knowledge perks (Underworld, Arcane, Nobility and History), next I either get Antivan Tailoring, or Massache's Method and as soon as I can Deft Hands, Fine Tools. And of course I try to get all agents as soon as I can. :D

---

Bruce finished nearly all quests in the Hinterlands. He's only missing The Mercenary Fortress, Valammar, some Shards and the High Dragon, which I rather do a little later...  Wondered why I kept dying everywhere, then I remembered I play on Hard.  Also, Bears are annoying! You can't walk anywhere without walking into two of them  <_< tho it's fun to watch them kill Outlaws.  :D

Oh and he went to the Exalted Plains, *cough* to get Venatori Tomes *cough*  met some dalish (why can I ask about the Dirth? Shouldn't Bruce know about it already?  ) and finally feels a little at home. (I wished you could meet your family/clan/whatever at one point)

Where did it happen for you? For me it once happened in the Hissing Wastes, could unfreeze her by switching to a different party member and going in combat mode.

@gilli-chan - I'd forgotten about that one.  That one is annoying, because you can't fast-travel back and I don't have very good luck with unsticking it by changing party members and walking away.  I haven't tried switching party members and doing a standard attack.  That might work.

Today, I found out what happens if you don't get around to the Ferelden Frostback until level 20.  I decided I was there for the grand enchanter staff, one way or another, so I wouldn't bother with any other looting or searching until I had it.  I dosed everyone with a fire tonic and ran right on through, ignoring the fireballs and leaving a trail of dead dragonlings to  clean up later.  By the time she flew up to the low perch to summon the first wave of dragonlings, she only had 3000 HP, so when she came back down, I ran in with a winter's grasp and spirit blade to finish her off.  Easy fight, right?  Not so much.  She's scripted to die on the high ledge, so that's what she's going to.  She blinked off to the high ledge and the game decided that if I liked it rough, it wouldn't disappoint.  It was cool and pathetic at the same time.  Momma's lobbing fireballs on zero health and I'm fighting dragonlings and the red templars found a way to teleport in and join the party.  When the dust settled, the high dragon fell over dead without any additional damage.  I really just have to make time to deal with her earlier next time.

Edit:  definitely earlier next time.  The dragon's head, with all the loot is buried in the middle of the high ledge, at valley floor level, and not accessible at all.  Don't do what I just did.  Thank goodness I have a named save to go back to and know not to do it that way ever again.

Reminds me of an episode of SG-1.

Oh and irony of ironies I just fought the damn thing too.  Me on Level 15.  It got me the firsst time.  And then I realized, 'hey I'm a rogue, why don't rogues rogue rogue.  So I go into Stealth and with the party completly pass through all the Dragonlings completly unfazed.  And then I killed her, fist pumped so hard my elbow hit my dresser.  OW!.  Anyways it was glorious.  Kara is a total bad ass, then drunken party with Bull.  And then crafting...and now I will go probably do more crafting in a bit after I fight the one in Crestwood...Bull or Blackwall needs a new sword.

i was playing earlier and just killed that head seeker guy who went insane, told Cassandra to make the seekers better then went to watch some tv. watched Grimm 4 episode 13 and the bad guy in that has almost exactly the same voice as Fenris in DA;2 i don't know if it is the same guy but the voice was perfect and he looked kinda similar, skinny sharp features was really amusing. just thought id share that :D

I would be playing now but i play on x-box and i have one of those old tube tv's and the colours cone wonky so i need to bring in a magnet to fix it so out goes to computer, out goes the x-box, out gos all other electronic stuff. (tomorrow its 10pm here) lol

That happened to me - I had no idea why the head kept falling through the ground at the time. The thing is, I was a low-level mage when I tried to kill it, so I was pretty much doing the whole fight from scratch every time the head fell through the ground. It took about 30 minutes (I think) for each attempt, and I had to fight it four-five times total. I guess I finally got to exactly the right spot and killed the dragon at exactly the right moment, so I FINALLY got to loot it. However, I was an extremely cranky Inquisitor after the hassle involved.

Weirdly enough, it was only on my most recent PT that this happened - lol. Never got trolled by the Frostback on my three previous PTs (I was a mage on each of them, btw - heh).

@Magdalena11 yeah, it was really annoying. At that time I switched to Dorian and just walked away, hoping Haya would fix herself when she respawns next to him. No use. Then a hyena(?) appeared and I (still as Dorian) wanted to kill it, when suddenly Haya joined the fight. Good Qunari. xD

Better than what I did to myself. The ballista got jammed and when Zev went to fix it, I was standing in the path of it and got it right in the face, and it sent me flying into the Archdemon. I didn't last long, and like you, Loghain saved the day!  Sadly Morrigan fell quite a bit in that battle, but I finally got everyone stable enough for a final attack.

Comments first then i'll do my final part of the DLC since I killed it in two parts apparently.

:P

I always feel like I'm spamming the Forum with all my screenshots, so I try to not take too many  :D

Yesterday was a lazy day for Bruce. He explored Skyhold, talked to his friends (avoided Vivienne  ) started some of their Inner Circle Quests and met the specialists. Bruce had a very long and confusing conversation with Your Trainer, but he still wants to become a Rift Mage.

I kind of feel the same way lol but I have noticed people are not as far as me that seem to be new to the game so I try to tag some stuff as spoilers.

Well frankly I got my top picks that would help out for any difficulty:

1: More potions (Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

2: Added potion slot (Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

3: Level 2 and level 3 focus (Are two seperate perks. Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

4: Defense combat bonus (Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

5: Kills give more EXP (Any)

6: Your class specific schematics (Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

7: Mage dialog (adds exp. Most common used bonus dialog used. Any)

8: Other stuff visible (Must claim a keep first. Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

9: Unlock master locks (Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

10: Get extra herbs from single herb (Example one elfroot could give elfroot x9. Any plus a must for NIGHTMARE)

Well, I seem to be constantly rewarded with new T4 schematics and random epic weapons in chests. I'm now kind of regretting buying those two exorbitantly expensive schematics that I picked up at the Black Emporium - woops. Last night I just ran into an Inquisition outpost (not an actual camp with a marker on the map) and noticed a chest. I opened it and got a level 23 epic bow - lol.

Then I wandered around, looted some old corpses (or something) and got a T4 Grey Warden shield schematic! Wheeeeeeee! Now, if only I had that kind of luck in MP. I did get one epic shield for my legionnaire (and templar), but it actually has berserk on it, so I don't really want to use it (even though I've read that they lowered the ridiculous amount of damage taken on weapons that have berserk).

NICE. Teir 4 stuff are ungodly powerful and usually they give good pre-start stuff before you deck it out with more stuff like 20% fire resistance or something.

Vyre Dite VS The HAKKONITES PART 2

VyreDite_30_zpsgjdlkwvl.jpg

Spoiler

The DLC was ok. The portals that I needed to bash were stupidly hard (Even on NORMAL) while the rest of the other stuff you need to do aren't to hard to do. However the fortress with the whole meter thing was challenging but was do-able. I wish there was more story though. I got most of the achievements for the DLC except for the crushing ice totems and activate all alters.

Speaking of achievements I almost got all of them now except for the one just mentioned. As Malaioniss I was able to get all of the Andraste throne parts from investigating area resources on the WAR TABLE and I got the 50 herbs one by getting the herb garden and kept putting 6 new plants every chance I got before the whole Adament fortress/fade part of the story.

BTW:

Same. However this subject is in the (SPOILERS INCLUDED) Mb section but people who haven't played as far as some of us seem to be posting here anyway. Lol. I have nothing against them and have (liked) their posts.
