Last night was a very eventful evening for Sheva Trevelyan. It all started with the crafting of new armor that I had been waiting for most of the late game.

Spoiler

Then Sheva and the girls finally attended the ball as the guest of Gaspard in order to save the life of Empress Celene. Plenty of cutthroat political bullshit was happening behind the scenes but this was nothing new for the noble birth of a Trevelyan and an ally like Vivienne made The Game easy to get the complete approval of the court.

Spoiler
Ended up saving the life of a hilarious Ferelden man that Gaspard had hired.

Spoiler

Gained some disapproval at my methods of revealing to the Court the Duchess's scheme then skanking her but you can't please everyone. Only team Female Fatale matters in this playthrough anyway and Sera was quite amused.

Spoiler

After all the bullshit Sheva finally got some much needed alone to with the one she loves known as Commander Cullen. The love of Cullen keeps Sheva steady throughout all the drama of this game.

I started the dlc. I went after the giant.

What bothered me is it can throw a boulder further than my bow can fire an arrow. Disadvantage #1.

Its foot stomp can kill me from a far distance, but my bow can't hit the giant in that same distance. Disadvantage #2.

I finally was doing well against the giant when dumb luck interfered. The giant throws a boulder that I avoid only for it to bounce back at me leaving me dead. Disadvantage #3.

Again doing well against the giant when other wildlife decide to join the party and kill me with the help of the giant. Disadvantage #4.

I decided to heck with it. So I went to the camp. I was surprised the amount of experience points I got for talking with the leader.

I killed a few animals for the leather and a few of the jaws guys.

I will leave for now. I will go to the Fallow Mire and save my soldiers

Maybe you can try Sera's Thousand Cuts(Or if you're a Tempest you can do the same). That ability is very powerful especially at Tier 3 Focus.

@naclynE - congrats on completing your collection.  I don't think any decisions in DAO affect the appearance of the chantry sister in the Wastes.  I think she's somehow tied in with Those Across the Water, that kinda weird operation that doesn't answer any questions but has a pretty decent reward.

Ah thanks for letting me know about that.

Usually sidequests give good just about anything. Astriums always give good gear, kill side quests give good exp, waypoints give good inquisition exp, etc.

I am still trying to remember how to get the Sylvan Blade mission. i swear it's from doing something in the Hissing Wastes but I am unsure. I only did it twice with two warrior inquisitors. I swear it's a warrior only quest but am I wrong?

I do agree the bloody ice giant in the Hakkon DLC is a pain in the ***. It's like every time I put the guy down with Vyre I still get hit by random ice projectiles which leaves me like WTF!? Of course I was playing on normal but man the fight was flat out stupidly long. I even feel with Sera's full charged THOUSAND CUTS and your full charged PORTAL ATTACK would make a tiny dent on it and that's it.

It is stupidly long. He has a crap ton of health and powerful defense breaking moves. It's bad enough that the boulders are so OP and he's really hard to stagger even on Casual. However, he does go down quick with a lot of Mages shooting fire at him. Sometimes, you can get Giants to accidentally bounce into the air and as they land they will either die or lose a crap ton of health.

I haven't recruited anyone except Dorian. I took a look at everyone's armor and realized all is rated below level 10.  I will craft some better armor and try again shortly. I'm nearing level 14.

Vyre Dite....isn't a fire based mage. I have done this for RPG reasons where Vyre Dite's mother Vayhura Dite:

DAO_Vayhura16_zpszmumhhgk.png

VayhuraME2_08_zpslwexl1cu.jpg

Traditionally uses ice and energy based spells. Even though Vayhura has a personality disorder where she tends to use fire but primarly is ice, dark and lightning and mastered the ability to time travel and regeneration. Vyre Dite:

VyreDite_01_zps84bcc7iq.jpg

Being one of her daughters has had the lightning and ice spellcraft passed onto her but not the fire spellcraft. However Vyre has gained the rift mage craft.

For the past few days, Cathair Lavellan has been trying to tidy up the Western Approach, Exalted Plains and Fallow Mire. He somehow managed to collect all of Frederic's items prior to meeting the guy, so good old Fred probably thinks Lavellan is a little too competent (obsessive stalker or dragon nerd, who knows? :P ). The party also spent a ridiculous amount of time hunting phoenixes to get enough leather to put on the elven scout armour. On the plus side, Blackwall approved of killing all those darkspawn.

Dorian was dragged along to the Fallow Mire to enjoy the lovely smell of disease, mud and decay. Also, those creepy statues. So the Avvar put those there? They rescued the Inquisition soldiers (very nearly getting flattened by Movran's son), which made Cole very happy and picked up some Warden loot for Blackwall. Then it was off to the Plains to try and please those unfriendly Dalish. Lavellan's Dalish too, cut him some slack! But no, being Inky undermines all his elfy heritage apparently.

Lavellan headed back to Skyhold, where Vivienne was waiting, claws at the ready.

Spoiler

I get the distinct impression that he won't feel very charitable when Vivienne wants help later. Too bad he can't tell her to take a hike. But what would he say if Vivienne just said "No, thanks, my dear. I'd rather stay right here." Maybe Cullen would find himself on bouncer duty, using those templar abilities to forcibly eject her from the premises?

In the spirit of building good will, he helped Sera deal with some unpleasant nobles. They encountered one who was stomping all over the common people, and even had the audacity to kill an innocent man right in front of them! It did not end well for him.

Spoiler

Blackwall and Dorian stood in the background, wincing. It didn't seem to bother Blackwall's sense of nobility and honour though.

Back to the Exalted Plains to help Solas with his spirit. I really will kill it one day, I swear. Lavellan's choice won him some major friendship points with Solas, so that should help cancel out certain decisions later. The pair are rocking the super-elfy look right now.

Spoiler

I never noticed before, but Solas' ears are really pointy! You could cut shems someone with them.  :P

Lastly, the best one of the day. Lavellan went to tell Dorian about his father (and was treated to some flirting from moustache man), then the pair headed out there to confront him. Dorian was not pleased at having to explain what he meant by "I enjoy the company of men." Lavellan said that he did too, and Dorian was like "Nooooo?! Surely not?! The Inquisitor! I am shocked." So much sarcasm. I think he used up a year's allowance right there.

Spoiler

He convinced Dorian to reconcile with his father, despite Papa Pavus' horrible actions. Back at Skyhold, Lavellan assured Dorian that his opinion of the mage hasn't lessened at all. If anything, he admires Dorian more. The evening was rounded off very nicely with a kiss. ^_^ This definitely makes up for that little argument they had earlier about slavery.

I managed to get these last good screenshots in before my video card died on me last night:

Spoiler

Spoiler

Finally, we have the second to last thing I saw before my HDMI port on my vid card went out.  After this, my character exited through the mirror, the loading screen came up, my monitor shut off and wouldn't turn back on even after a reboot.  I've currently got the HDMI cable plugged in the motherboard port and running off of integrated graphics for the time being.  I spent several hours troubleshooting and there is no doubt it's my vid card.  It had been acting up lately.

So as a sendoff to the AMD video card that helped give me an amazing first experience with the ME series, and gave me my first two characters with DA:I, I have this final picture.  It seems like a fitting farewell:

Spoiler

It's not over, Cory.  I'll be back.

I'll be able to get a new card that's as good graphically as my previous one for a reasonable price, but it's gonna be a long couple of weeks until Payday.   :(

Argh. I am a tad bit envious. Every single time I try to take a picture of anything in the 'eluvian world' scene it comes out to be to blue to me when i take pictures of the scene with my camera. I am a bit of a perfectionist when taking pictures so I just F it and show pics of the after stuff.

I'm not sure why/how those not-Fade scenes turned out so well, but they did.  I didn't use any flycam (although it's been a temptation) nor any texture upgrades.  Most of my settings were between Medium-High, save Meshes and Textures on Ultra.  Since my vid card died and locked up my computer in the process, I don't know if the game got a chance to save after the mirror.  If that's the case, then I'll be back around here again and show you guys how it looks.  I have missed this thread.   :)

So the whole 'brand new warden' thing is a lie? I swear I remember long ago reading somewhere even if your warden died in DAO you would be a 'new warden' or something in DAA.

You can play as a new Warden in Awakening, but you can't import a dead HoF to do it; you have to start fresh instead. The import mechanic is all messed up. I'm not sure it's been fixed in the Keep either?

So, finally, here is the account of Marcus' latest adventures. While he wasn't thrilled to be marching to war in the Arbor Wilds, the amateur elfy art historian in him was super excited to be heading to old elfy ruins. They didn't disappoint either. Unlike a certain companion who later disappeared....but we'll get to that.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but there really are glaring signs in both DA2 and DAI that Flemeth is Mythal. The altar where Merrill does the spell in Act 1 is later revealed to be an altar dedicated to Mythal. And, here, in this temple, check out these statues. I don't even remember noticing them before, but they sure do look like DA2 Flemeth, especially the leg armor.

Spoiler

Also of note: many, many statues of dragons, just like in Din'an Hanin.
Spoiler

Also strange: Morrigan expressed surprise that there would be a statue representing Fen'Harel in a temple dedicated to Mythal, yet somehow she failed to notice exactly what was guarding the entrance. <_<
Spoiler

Solas, of course, was no better. While sneering down his nose at everything Morrigan said regarding what the legends say (not what is the truth mind), the man simply refused to give any other explanations for anything. Really? If you continue to insist that everything she says is wrong, perhaps you might do us the courtesy of telling us what is right? But no, that would be telling. Ugh. I just wonder....how much do the Well voices know about Solas???

"I'm not gonna try it; you try it!"

After completing the rituals and entering the sanctum, they discovered they were not alone. Ancient guardians still protected this place. They agreed to help Marcus fight the red templars on condition he leave afterwards. That was good enough for him; he was more interested in keeping Samson and Cory from the so-called Well of Sorrows than anything else, but Morrigan had other ideas. She changed into a bird (much to Cole's amazement) and chased after Abelas before he could destroy the Well himself.

Spoiler

While being led through the back hallways of the temple, Marcus took the opportunity to do some more art-seeing. He also took a page out of Cullen's book and struck a few poses. Probably for Dorian's benefit. :D

Spoiler

Finally they caught up with Samson and ruined both his armor and his day. B)
Spoiler

Leaving the way to the Well open:
Spoiler

He had no interest in drinking from the Well, much to Dorian's relief, so Morrigan got her wish. With Cory finally getting past the temple's defenses, they had but seconds to get through the eluvian at the Well. Back to Skyhold to plan their next move.

Finally beat the giant in the dlc at level 14

What I did is every time it would walk towards me, I would go into stealth mode causing it to turn around and walk away. I would move into range to use my bow using long shot and leaping shot. After firing my bow, I would back away from it giving me plently of time to get away from the foot stomp and the two-handed ground smash.  It took time, not sure how long, but I was successful.

So, Bruce finished all quests in the Exalted Plains, then he went to the Storm Coast to deal with the Darkspawn and Red Templars. (There was loot lying around in the cave, I didn't kill those Templars, but thanks for the stuff ) After that he went to the Lost Temple of Dirthamen, fought the Undead and looted everything he could find. Now Cassandra has a new Shield.  :D

Oh, and he reached Level 16 and got a new paint job, in the truest sense of the word  :D

Spoiler

Today he's gonna fight the Northern Hunter again, we'll see if he survives.  :D
