Not much done today. For only a 4-day work week this week (took Monday off) I'm pretty beat. So, just a few pics and some fun stuff from the Frostback Basin.

Took on the giant yesterday. He is really very large.  Marcus doesn't even come up to his knee!

Today I found the giant tree limb that Dorian warns you to not look down from. Oops. Marcus already did, and so apparently did Dorian.

Tevinter art just isn't the same as elfy art. Too spiky.

They also found the giant Fade spider. Cass and Cole are teaming up on the little one, leaving Marcus to fight the big one by himself.  Not sure where Dorian is....

I finished my quick playthrough for Solas romance purpose. To sum it up.

 

- Suprisingly, I like Solas romance, even thought I'm not his biggest fan. I seriously was expecting something worse. Though I don't think it worked well with Deo.  

 

- Now that I know the feeling of this romance, I think I'll create another elf for full playthrough, with everything that I learned in mind. 

 

- It was strange to play without all companions after so many playthroughs with everyone. I may not like all of them, but I got used to having everyone as a choice. Even if it means dealing with their sometimes idiotic problems. 

 

- I was pleasantly suprised by S&S warrior. The very first character I created in DAI was S&S warrior, but I deleted her almost right away, since I couldn't stand a change in game mechanics. Now that I got used to gameplay, it was really nice to return to my first class ever in DA verse.

 

- Deo. She's the biggest suprise of this playthrough. She turned out to be one of my favourite Inquisitors. She's only losing to my canon lady, Connie. That said, I'm going to recreate her and play again, but this time with her personality as a focus, not Solas romance. And since I'm going to have Blackwall, I think I'll go 2h this time. 

 

Game finished, sliders for Deo saved, now time to return to my canon lady. I'm sure Connie got lonely.

I started my mage playthrough that I mentioned in an earlier post.

In this playthrough I avoided some fights at the beginning to avoid getting any experience points. I did only enough to get power points. I'm currently at level 8 and working on getting the knight enchanter specialization. If things go well, I should be able to fight the giant in the dlc with my level 8 mage. I believe I will be successful.

 

During this playthrough I also found a few ways to get through the game quicker. Once this playthrough and my archer playthrough are completed, I will do a speedrun. Not sure if I will be a warrior or mage.

Bruce had a lazy day yesterday. He did some companion quests (talked to Cullen, helped Varric and Bianca and made Cole more human) and finished all quests on the Western Approach, except for the Abyssal High Dragon. Which he maybe will fight today.

So, now's the question, if I send Bruce to the Emerald Graves, to do some questing, or if I let him do Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts.

I just started the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. I think they forgot to keep the 'casual' setting 'casual'. *sigh*

Woot what a blast and what an information overload of all the things I have done today so far.  Woot.  OK yeah...started off...where the heck did I even start off...oh yes in the Western Approach of all places.  Finishing up the 'Trouble with Darkspawn.'  Which I did.  And it was funny because the Giant Kara faced inside the prison was a lot more easy then when Ben faced it way back when.  It was a slaughter.  But the one on the outside was a lot harder...three Phoenixes decided to get in on the action and try eating me from behind...I love this game.  

 

Then starting to wrap up some of the minor companion quests in the WA, EP, EG, and Hinterlands.  Tripped Dorian's quest and as soon as I saw Mother Gizelle in the great hall I started dancing around her and made kissing noises in real life.  So yeah, dealt with his nasty father and Kara did not give him time to explain...which is probably for the best...at least from a role playing perspective.  Though Dorian did break Kara's heart into a million tiny pieces but they can still be friends...right...right...right?!

 

ahem so off to Cullen for some comfort...and I did not expect their romance scene, the initial one to be so hillarious...that poor soldier.     And Kara was looking like exactly what she was, someone really young and inexperienced in lurve.  

 

So after that basically everything is ready for Wicked Eyes...*eep*!  Except gonna go on another Shard collecting spree...lets hope i have enough quests after Wicked Eyes to make getting tier 3 stuff worth it.

I just defeated the giant in the dlc with my level 8 mage. I had level 10 armor and level 11 staff. I used barrier every time it used its foot stomp and double fist ground smash. Without barrier I would never of been able to defeat the giant. Fire mine and immolate works very well against the giant. The defeat of the giant  put me over level 9. I went to the camp and after talking with the leader, I gained enough experience to put me at level 11. Nice.

 

Now I will work on getting enough power points to visit the Hissing Wastes

Rhiannon Lavellan on JoH!

She started out having a bad day today. The party went looking for a lady called Colette, who was apparently up a mountain somewhere. No matter how Rhiannon looked, she couldn't figure a way to get up the vertical terrain to meet her (Skyrim this ain't!  ). So, she gave up and went to check out a rift instead, taking a path via the Avvar camp. Turns out that rift led right to Colette, so it all worked out in the end (took about half an hour though...  ).

 

Then it was off to rescue a bear. Cassandra found this unbearable, but Rhiannon asked her to bear with it. After all, it will have a large bearing on Stone Bear Hold's forbearance towards the Inquisition. Cass agreed to bear that in mind while Rhiannon got her bearings. Searching for skulls had gotten her a little confused. The party rescued the bear and headed back to the hold bearing good news. 

 

Side note - don't have Cole and Sera pick two locks at the same time! I did, and it sealed up one of the doors. Had to reload so they could be picked one after the other, and I could pick up a nice Razikale staff.

 

Cole keeps trying to make friends with Sera by mentioning things from her past or random things he's noticed. She seems resigned rather than irritated, so I guess things are looking up? Cass wants to return to camp to fetch a new babysitter though. She'd rather deal with unruly templars and mages than these three children. 

 

In order to win the Hold's approval, they helped out a few more people, including getting an offering for an injured hunter. Rhiannon doesn't have any love for gods lately, so she doesn't care about respecting them or a dead guy. She does care about stopping an innocent man from being disowned. Then it was off to find a mountain-climber. They had to defend her from a beast, so she offered to include Rhiannon in her prayers, but Inky opted out. How thin is the Veil round here, there's spirits popping out of everything!

I should get that new dlc. I have an urge to slap some mud-and-paint armour on Vivienne.

Bought DA2 and DAI during the Origins sale. Now I just need a PC that can handle DAI...I'll get it at some point.

I continued with Mark of the Assassin. I found the wyvern. Tallis did not seem to like that I just wanted to attract a little one. I didn't want to use all the bait and risk attracting 5 or something XD

 

The party at the castle was very funny. It's so weird to play this after having played Inquisition. When I saw the fountain I wondered jokingly if there would be any coins I could throw in there in order to raise the "court approval" and funnily enough, there were! When I saw Leliana I squealed. For a split moment I realized I was afraid to get away from the party to go explore the other rooms because what if my court approval dropped. Then, I remembered there was no such thing here. Also, the witty options to distract guards are soooo funnny. "Fashion emergency! Someone's wearing the same outfit as me!". 

 

Then there came the part where you need to be stealthy which I disliked because I'm not good at that and have very little patience for that type of dynamic. Will continue tomorrow.

Luckily, you don't have to go that route. What was really annoying was that even as a rogue, I couldn't go into stealth mode. All normal abilities were disabled in favor of the clunky ones they added for that sequence. I think I did it the sneaky way the first time (and I had to re-load a lot) to get the achievement, but after that, I went in sword first. Who cares what Tallis wants to do?

 

As for Marcus, he has been running around in circles looking for veil quartz. I know there is a deposit you have to jump off cliffs to get to but I can't find it for the life of me. Meanwhile, Dorian, Cass, and Cole are beginning to think he's gone completely nuts.

Played as my Tempest Archer, Julian and cleared most of the quests in the Emerald Graves. The only challenge was closing the fade rift near Dinan'hanin. Julian, Cassandra and Iron Bull got KO'ed twice by despair and nightmare demons, and I had one health potion left. Thankfully, Vivienne managed to hold off the demons while reviving each person individually (she doesn't have resurgence yet), and Julian finally sealed the rift. 

 

Hmm.. I'm thinking of respecking Julian into a DW Tempest when I craft new armour and weapons for him. Just out of curiosity, did anyone ever play as a DW Tempest? Is it as fun as a DW Assassin?

Still out of likes, sorry.  Needed the last shard to get into the JoH temple, so went back to climb arches in the Oasis.  Couldn't figure out why Bull and Blackwall nearly got wiped by 2 measly Venatori mages.  Finally realized that since they still had the same clothes from the Basin, they really weren't dressed for fire mages.  Ouch.  Have an ice pack, guys.

I really hope they release another story DLC that is actually mentioned outside of the DLC itself. I hate it when things in the DLC stays in the DLC. Also, it needs more relevance and probably something that continues post-ending(which will probably give me some motivation to actually finish Doom Upon All The World). Inquisition sort of feels too empty when it's done, and that's probably because of how anticlimactic the ending was.
