I went up against the Gamordan Stormrider with Cassandra, Cole and Solas. Two-thirds of the way through, the dragon got some lucky hits and downed my PC, Cole and Solas. Cassie tried reviving Solas but he was instantly downed by the dragon's breath attack. I thought I would have to reload but she got my PC on his feet, and they were able to get up Cole and Solas up separately. At the end of the fight, I had zero health potions left.

What you are not showing is that it only took 10 seconds to kill that dragon. :)

MoD + TC is awesome power, a speedkill versus bosses. It's a thing of beauty.

Well obviously a screenshot can't show that, but that's why I flagged up the potions and health bars. It's all over before the dragon has chance to do much damage. As you say it basically takes a few seconds of un-paused time to kill a dragon with that combo. :)

Don't you hate it when you have an entire headcanon scenario playing over and over in your head and then when you go to type it up, the blank screen intimidates you into forgetting everything you just thought of? :pinched:

Or does that only happen to me?

It happens to me all the time. Stupid blank screen.  :pinched:

Speaking of managing resources I love it when you use a regeneration potion then your mage manages to get barriers up or guard goes up on your warrior so the potion has time to kick in.

Finished Act 2 and am now well into Act 3. So many cut scenes, so many screenshots. Not sure if/when I will get them uploaded or posted. Short version: Seamus dead. Petrice dead. Isabela ran and came back. Arishok dead. Malia kited him like a pro but still got skewered a couple of times. :pinched: Ouchie. Didn't choose a side in the opening argument between Meredith and Orsino.

I accidentally triggered "Alone" (Malia and Varric convinced Fenris to not kill Verania) by going to The Hanged Man even though Fenris wasn't in my party at the time. But I went ahead with it since that just means I got to the make up scene faster.  I consider "Far Away" by Nickelback to be my official Fenris-mance theme song, mostly because of that scene. I'll try not to post every screenie I took.

Honestly, I think the game could end there and I'd be a happy camper. Of course, that would mean missing out on the Gallows scene later on....

Before I get started with responding to posts I would like to say that....I think i got a stalker in my midst....

Long while ago i was playing TEKKEN REVOLUTION on my PS 3 against a guy named Pats_Famous. I defeated him in three seperate games and mentioned it. he kind of took what I said a bit personal a bit. i swear the person is a kid too. >_>.

Now I know what your asking "what does this have to do with DAI or BIOWARE?" well I was on the multi player threads on this site and I mentioned on the "looking for a group" that i have been very upset about getting with people that don't know what they were doing and how it makes me want to cry in corner for not getting with people who know what they are doing when they play MP on DAI for the XBOX 360. I was being figurative and not literal. I get this hate mail from Pats_famous saying how he found it amusing that I was crying online and how I am a (duragatory word for "british cigar"). I was like whatever and put the guy on block. I am tempted on filing a report.

Truthfully I am still having issues finding decent people to team with on DAI on the XBOX 360. I was playing my level 8 assassin on MP's second difficulty setting and put me with two arcane warriors(? I know they were not keepers but used staffs) and a hunter. The two mages kept rushing and skipped every bloody secret door. The only person who was playing smart besides me was the hunter. the hunter had my back and i had his. I would kill targets trying to attack him and he would pick off guys trying to attack me. I cannot remember what wave it was sadly the hunter got downed. i went to revive him and didn't realize a outlaw bruiser downed him and was where he got downed. i oopsed and tried to revive him and i got downed. I was thinking and saying to myself "no big deal, the two mage people will come by and revive us". However by the time I said "no big deal, the two mage people-" i saw the game over screen. The two mages went 2 VS 20 guys and died apparently. I was a bit mad. i reported the two mage people for being too aggressive and gave props to the hunter. Second game I was isabella (duelist) on Perlious and I was rusty with her. Despite that I had another mage type guy, a katari and a keeper. The mage character and Katari kept rushing and I had my fair share of blunders. However I biggest issue was the Katari and mage were letting 3-4 guys slip past them which allowed the keeper and I get hit by stronger guys. Not to mention at one point everyone but me rushed for a door and didn't realize a lurker was still around which I was having issues with which downed the keeper and I. When i was nearing the boss things were starting to go better. However when it came to the boss fight the mage character and Katari chose to attack every cronie known to many and not even bother to attack Capernia (Boss) even when I had Isabella say "ATTACK MY TARGET!!!" over and over again. Capernia brought me down to a smidjin left and I was getting lucky with not getting hurt since for some reason she was attacking the keeper and not me. However when me and the keeper brought Capernia down to 10% I was killed and couldn't be revived. The bloody Katari and mage finnaly came over and finished her off. i swear they did that out of spite. Seriously did they know that if you beat a MP boss all of the cronies go away? Anyhoo I feel like I should of been glad my team won but things would of went far better if people took my bloody advice. Two fustrating games of MP were enough for that day. Seriously what do i have to do to get with good people on DAI's MP on the XBOX 360?

I know i shouldn't take MP seriously but I have rules, a code, and standards. Not to mention I shouldn't be insulted by three year olds. And yeah I shouldn't of started the situation off either.

I just finished solo-operation again. Demons, 'cause there's new challenge running (I already completed it). The difference between this one and the first one... Wow. In the first one I barely managed. This time? I haven't touched health potions.

I think I'll end up hating Venatori map >.>

Same here... but tell Dorian or Solas not to use it. I know you can switch it off in tactics, but who remembers to do it every time? I like to troll templar archers. Fade Step is my friend here xD

I am a wee bit stumped here. Is the first part talking about the MP? I tried soloing Mp once myself and yeah....nebwie to MP mistake. Never do it at level 1 with newbie equipment.

Haha....that happened to me once and I was certain my game was bugged. I couldn't figure out why the camp icon thingie wouldn't activate. Reloaded a couple of times before I figured it out.

No worries on the Fenris front; I know exactly what I'm doing. I could never kill him or hand him over to Danarius. Even my one Hawke who rivaled him had more respect for him than that.

As for JoH on NM....I found fully upgraded Pitch Grenades and Bees very helpful, and of course Proximity Ice Resistance and Regen. Use Static Cage for the bruisers since they are weak to lightning damage. And, of course, full blast Mark of the Rift for Gurdy once you get to him. Thousand Cuts also works wonders.  I don't take on both groups together; instead I wait until the bruisers come toward the party, then throw the cage and a grenade. It stops them/slows them down and you can do a lot of damage in the meantime. The mages won't attack if you stay on the near side of the pillar until the bruisers are defeated. They're too busy with their ritual to begin with, so I just let them keep at it until I'm ready for them.  Also, don't try this battle if you are tired. I first attempted it on a Friday night and I failed miserably multiple times. Next day, fresh out of the gate and rested, I got it in one.

I never hand Fenris over to Denarius. Siding with the mages and killing Fenris felt in character because he firmly believed Meredith was always in the right felt good. It took me two tries (yeah...he's tough to beat) but Sacking him with Karakosh felt good. In all of my other DA 2 PT's i usually keep Fenris alive and am able to convince Fenris that Meredith is scum before that fight ensues always feels better though. Fenris does give me reasons to make me feel he's a jerk though because of his hate for mages, beliefs in templar ways, shakeling who he feels should be shackled, not listening to reason, treating his sister like dirt and a few other things but I kind of see fenris semi like I see myself at times except I don't act like a stick in the mud and do listen to reason.

I may look into the whole bomb thing. however as far as the suggestion i am unsure about the whole pillar idea. I have caught the spellbinders and barriers to the two bruisers here and there regardless of hanging around the alter. They also drop ice mines like crazy too no matter where your at. Not to mention hanging out in a set spot may be bad. As I said before Bruisers one hit kill your guys.

Not so concerned about 100% completion, not with this being my fifth PT. It's why I wanted to get all five mosaics last time, heh. I figure I can craft good enough gear for everyone, so making sure I have the best schematics and best belts/rings/amulets will be my biggest concern.

I am not concerned about getting every bloody thing in the game myself. However I said "I will never get all mosiacs in one area" too yet i got all of Hissing Wastes once. I tend to be a hypocrite. lol.

My other Trevelyan was a believer who had doubts about being the Herald at first, but came to believe it as time went on. Admittedly, part of him just enjoyed being called " the Herald" because that was his name : Harold  ... But a broken heart shook his faith to the foundations when the woman he loved, Cassie, became the new Divine and left him.

Meghan will remain faithful throughout -- should be easier to do with Josie as LI, maybe? Might be difficult to reconcile what happens in the temple of Mythal with her belief in the Maker, but that's one of those things I'm looking forward to.

Vivienne as Divine is actually quite interesting. I've gotten her in each if my last two games, and in the last I wasn't even trying, heh. I dunno what happened there.

Amolla Vollsa (first female Trevelyan) had a god complex but was a air head (Amolla: "What do you mean by 'the company of men'?" Dorian: "What do you mean...you don't know?" Amolla: "Not at all." Dorian: *Sigh* "It just means i prefer sleeping with men than I do women" Amolla: "Ohhhh.....right...") My third but second female Trevelyan Chasimess Winters I liked her a-lot where sure she wasn't anti religious but she was always sarcastic and very funny and wasn't ladylike at all. My second but male Trevelyan Draven Vollsa was laid back and wound up like your Harold where he oved Cassandra but had her become a unliked Divine.

My first playthrough ever I made Vivianne divine and liked my results. She turned the templars into her own personal guard

Thousand Cuts is for taking out a single target with loads of HP very quickly. It's therefore very useful for bosses and Dragons. Fully upgraded Mighty Offense Tonic gives a damage boost and crucially if you score a critical hit it doubles the damage. If you combine Thousand Cuts with an Assassin's "Mark of Death" ability which also doubles damage you can literally take out high dragons with one attack. So you put Mark of Death on an enemy, pause and switch to Sera, have her attack with Thousand Cuts and then when she's done switch back to your Assassin and detonate Mark of Death. It's worth saying that I have Mark of Death set up so that the AI does not use it. I find that it's an ability that you need to trigger manually at the right tactical  moment. (Same with spell purge and dispel, actually...)

I'm not sure I can help with the specific Avvar enemies and their abilities. When I played JoH I didn't feel the need to approach fighting them differently to normal, I just found that I needed to be more careful, so all I can do is offer my general advice.

In terms of dealing with hordes of lower-level enemies, there are different ways to do it. I can explain how I approach things but I should say that it's just my preferred playstyle and others are successful playing in other ways. Also I apologise if I'm just telling you obvious stuff that you already know here.

I use tac cam and pause a lot and although I mostly control the Inquisitor, I do give specific targets to characters and occasionally will trigger a specific ability.

I have my tank set up to draw aggro soak up damage as much as possible, at the expense of offensive abilities, both in terms of skills and armour and weapons. This means anything that generates guard and draws in enemies. Armour with boosts to melee defense in particular and also magic/ranged, plus masterwork materials that either boost guard or grant periods of walking fortress. Basically my tank (Usually Cassandra) is just for grabbing the enemies' attention and not dying. Doing damage is not what they are for. If a mage or rogue is being attacked I will sometimes use my tank to try and draw the enemy away from them, but the ideal is to grab their attention in the first place and not let them near the "squishy" characters.

I don't like two-handed warriors so I don't use them.

I set up rogues and mages so that they have as many aggro-reducing abilities as possible, so that enemies stay focused on the tank. If they are being regularly hit then something is going wrong. If it's an archer rogue or mage I'll try to keep them away from the melee characters and make sure their armour has ranged/magic defense. I'll give them masterwork abilities that do extra damage such as chain lightning or hidden blades. I will tend to focus on using them to take out opposition mages and rogues first as they do most damage. It can be useful to use pull of the abyss and static cage to trap bunches of enemies before spamming them with other area of effect attacks. If you have a dual wield rogue they need babysitting more but they can quickly take out the most dangerous enemies with the likes of hidden blades or mark of death as an assassin. Evade is also very useful in a tight squeeze.

I don't know if any of that was actually useful to you, but there it is.

I do appreciate the suggestions.

All i know is i tried using me (bow elf male rouge), Cole (DWK), iron Bull (Sw/SH), and Dorian (Ice/fire mage)/ me, Cassandra (2H) , Iron Bull (Sw/Sh), Dorian (Ice/fire mage)/me, Cassandra (2H), iron Bull (Sw/Sh), Solas (Before game end. dedicated barrier mage). Again as I keep saying I don't bring Sera along because of role playing reasons. Not to mention she has really weak armor compared to Cole and would require me to make better stuff including DWK's.

Also all i know is this is what seems to happen for NIGHTMARE difficulty at level 28 for DAI on the XBOX 360:

Ice resistance potions are used. however the skeletons can still freeze my party members and do "shatter combos".

Avaar bruisers one hit kill hit their axe swing move even when ice resistance potions are used. rock armor helps protect a hit then would need to be reapplied.

Boss and Brusiers are "Immune" to taunt. Even if they were affected they kill ally in seconds then retraget mage and my inquisitor

Boss never targets warriors. He only targets inquisitor and mage

avaar soldeirs deal 75% health in a single hit no matter who unless buffs are not applied.

I am unsure when my ice resistance potions will expire. I do not seem them flicker or blip or whatever.

Antivan fire is used. It deals damage but very little on a long DOT basis. The final upgrade is the only thing not researched.

revived allies always get killed in seconds once mage used revive spell.

Full meter inquisitor special only does 15% damage to boss while killing anything else in one hit.

allies tend to not move or do anything for some reason. The only thing I can do to "fix" this is by manually switching to them and have them jump because I cannot move them also. Jumping causes them to do stuff again.

Using fire potion+ leap shot tends to cause the game to enter ungodly slow mo mode (meter runs normal speed). Everyone and everything runs slow for 2-5 minutes.

Again i do appreciate the suggestions and I may look into them. mean time I am waiting for the game to be patched in hopes that the DLC issues get fixed.

So, I just learned that scars are out of the question on PS3 and Xbox 360. Wow! There are many games out there that look 10x better than DA:I on last-gen and it's embarrassing. I wish they optimized it more so certain graphics options take up less CPU and Memory. I thought it was ridiculous that you had to have like Mesh quality to Ultra to even get scars. All of this for scars is a bit much.

Yeah, it's about MP. I'm an idiot who refuses (or to be precise - is scared) to play with others so I play MP alone. It's true that newbie gear means (almost) instant death, but weekend community challenges were really helpful. Now I have Bloodwake for my mages and 10% HoK ring (I still don't know how I pulled it out from the smallest chest out there). I'm tempted to try PuG, but then I go into Multiplayer forum and that temptation goes away.

All That Remains

Part 1 Looking For Mother

I'm almost done with Act 2. Need to go find Seamus in the Chantry, then deal with Isabela and Aveline's issues.

Oh, That quest. Wow. One of the shockingest moments of DA2, and also one of the reasons I love the game. Hawke's family is so flawed, with uncle Gamlen being such an ass most of the time, but in that moment, in the aftermath, he's actually a person... if you know what I mean. There really is some great writing in that game, and I am definitely gonna have to play it again sometime soon. It's your fault :P

But Fenris, dude, how tough can it be to put your arms around the woman and just shut up and hold her? You guys wasted three years...

Finished Act 2 and am now well into Act 3. So many cut scenes, so many screenshots. Not sure if/when I will get them uploaded or posted. Short version: Seamus dead. Petrice dead. Oh, and Bruce judged Mistress Poulin. He made her use her funds to rebuild Sahrnia.

Although I like that part where the Inquisitor talks with Maddox, and it is kinda cool to have Cullen along on a quest, I still much prefer the Shrine of Dumat when you side with the templars. It feels so much more mysterious.

The Inquisition's program to breed a clone army of Cassandras to defeat Corypheus got off to a promising start...

 Two Cassandras. Harold would be ecstatic! I can just hear him saying to Varric now, "Twins, Varric... twins." :P

Meghan will be the first true Andrastian I've played. Harold was devout, but it was the kind of thing where he'd attend services as a child because his Mother made him do it. He didn't really believe until the events of Inquisition, and even then, he was only enjoying the attention in the beginning. His fairth grew as the game progressed. Meghan will be a strong believer right from the start, unusual maybe, for a mage, but there it is. :)

Ahh, that's a bummer, and I do agree in that it seems the graphics of this game could stand to be optimized. It's the only game I currently own that really makes my GPU work hard, and I dunno why. other games I own seem like they should be more demanding but aren't.

I always go for 'get it all' when I decide to play 'properly'. That's why I'm pretty mad about those bugged thrones of mine >.>

I still have to play today, but what I did yesterday?

I cleared out a bit of Emprise. Tower of Bone is mine and mine only! Ekhm... Then I proceed to do that one thing that happens only in Emprise - clearing black spots on map that I don't like but I know I can get rid of. Also, because of all those skill talks I ended up respeccing my whole team (except for Quizzy). You're all evil o 3o

I noticed a few things:

- I'm not used to having Dispel. I forgot it during my first rift fight, then dispelled only one demon during second one.

- There's combat music from time to time! Maybe one day we'll get it every fight, as it was intended.

- You can get every possible Fade-Touched material... except for Silverite... the right one.

- Yay for unlocking Cradle of Suledin!

- Why, oh why do I always have to fall into that damn hole in Valeska's Watch?!

Ohh that Valeska's Watch hole. :pinched: ... I watched darkspawn in Origins, and in DA2, and they were pretty clumsy. I watched them leap across the hole in Inquisition, and I thought, okay why can't I do that? And then I realized it's the same reason I can't leap up on a waist-high rock to climb over it.  I also gotta say i'm not a big fan of dispel for rifts. When the second wave is spawning you've got a few seconds to get near enough to one to use dispel, and I personally found that, more often than not I seemed I'd dispel one of those stupid wisps instead of something that might actually kill me, heh. So I'd rather us e a skill slot for something else, in the end. That's just me, though.

Haha, I always stand on an edge to knock them out as soon as they appear. Of course one of my companions has to throw me into abyss

My other mages always end up with empty skill slots. There are only a few mage skills I would let AI to control. So I still had some spots left. I never get it for Magequisitor. But yeah, it's always Whisp xD

On This Episode of Dragon Age Inquisition...Realzing the eight slot limit is actually an eight slot limit.

My sad tale actually starts yesterday.  I was in the Solassan Temple surrounded by Electric Glyphs, which really really hurt.  So I decided to have Dorian dispel them, which he did not have Dispel ever cued up.  So I swapped out Barrier for it, and tried it out, ironically the glyphs did not dissapate.  So anyways I left it witout a thought.

Now I have been suspicious of this fact for a while.  Despite your character 'knowing' the spell/ talent and despite them having it set up to active they don't actually use it unless it is in thier eight.  I was laboring under the assumpetion that this was not the case even though I had have a growing suspicion.

These suspicions were confirmed today, because in battle after battle, time after time, Dorian would not cast a single Barrier.  That made me awfully squishy indeed.  Plus I can never recall an instance of him being in the party and casting revival.  The other big spell from the Spirit tree that is needed.

Anyways though I went to go start the Jaws of Hakkon today, after a brief detour into the Hinterlands to seal off a rift that had appeared thanks to a war table mission.  Man is the Frostback Basin tough, and man was it prohivitively so without barriers at first.  But, did find a new armor for Iron Bull, and now he has five guard per hit, and more health...I do believe.  Picked up a few schematics...crafted a helmet for Blackwall...then sold it later.   <_<

But cleared out rifts, met with the stone bear hold, cleared out Hakkonite camps, and then been getting some more experience and levels and trying some other things out.  Still difficult, and then there was an amazing moment involving three pride demons bearing down on me...and my characters are now more tanky but still maybe not tanky enough.

Hey, I never thought of that. Good idea! Batting practice anyone? B)

I never let my other mages use dispel either. I think I've said before that i rarely even pay attention to what any of my companions are doing in combat, unless they're dying. Then I frantically mash the keyboard in the general area of the 9 key and hope I hit the healing potion for them  ... you know, when they're being too moronic to use a healing potion themselves.

-snip-

I don't mind eight slot limit, but I understand frustration of some players. It's especially shocking if you played mage in DAO then moved to DAI.

:o

:crying:

I'll not call it idiotic... but it's idiotic that you can have more than eight spells 'active' yet character never uses them. If you want to keep 8 skills limit, extend it to tactics. This way no one will hope to have that one more skill used.

I've learned hard way that for Dorian to use Revive you need to take control over him and auto-attack for a while for him to regain enough mana. He maybe once revived others by himself. Or maybe it was Solas? Hmnmn...

They never make it to upper floor. And I have all loot nicely under my feet xD

Hah, yeah. Their use of Dispel kind of reminds me of the way AI handles Mana Clash in DAO. Never when I need it xD It was kind of annoying, because DAO liked to crash after Mana Clash.

Oh? My companions use healing potions pretty wisely.

I agree.  It is confusing as heck and rather shoddy implementation since they should know how to use these dang spells.
