They never make it to upper floor. And I have all loot nicely under my feet xD

Hah, yeah. Their use of Dispel kind of reminds me of the way AI handles Mana Clash in DAO. Never when I need it xD It was kind of annoying, because DAO liked to crash after Mana Clash.

Oh? My companions use healing potions pretty wisely.

i never used Mana Clash either, because of that bug. Was it ever fixed? My origins mages were support only, Since my warden was usually slicing and dicing the bad guys pretty effectively. I forget wihich spells I used the most as a mage warden. Walking Bomb was a favorite, mostly for the cool spell effect  Winter's Grasp, Cone of Cold. Crushing Prison_Force Field. i wasn't really big on the AoE spells, except for the occasional blizzard  ...but I only played a mage warden a couple of times.

In my last game, Kubrie's journey, it seemed like the rest of the gang would let their health go well below the threshold I thought I'd set for them on a regular basis :pinched: ... i felt like turning and yelling at them, "we have health potions, you guys!"

I remember that.  I believe it was partially fixed with one of the patches, and there was a mod available that replaced the visual from that spell with the visual for another that didn't overwhelm the computer.  I don't think there was a complete fix for console.  I use it anyway, because it's a really awesome spell, but it was always a question of whether that first explosion would crash the system.  I was able to cast it more than once in a battle if the first one worked, though.  It's not as useful at higher difficulties because of enemy resistances.

@Al Foley - DAO mana clash had a visual effect that caused the system to crash, sometimes only to the desktop, sometimes a BSOD.  It seemed to crash more often if the game had been running for a while and if mana clash was the opening spell.  It might have been related to the memory bleed, since it really was less likely when the game was just fired up, not sure why.

I've noticed that the number of visuals going at once, long cutscenes, and multiple map area changes still seem to contribute to crashes in DAI, so the problem's still there in some way.  It might not be totally fixable, because DA has always been a system-stretcher.  For me, it's not a big deal, because even if the OS needs to be reloaded, I've got nothing on the computer that can't be replaced easily enough.  If I've got family or professional pictures to save, they're backed up elsewhere.

I got so used to it when I played my first mage, that when I was playing non-mage... Both Wynne and Morrigan had it. Unfortunately I had to switch it off from tactics and use it manually >.>

-snip-

For me it crashed every third, fourth time. Fortunately by the time I picked Mana Clash I've learned about another magic - F5. I've never gotten anything worse than game crash to the deskop. I see it can go far worse o.O

I don't remember any crashes from Mana Clash. I used to use it a lot. My canon warden Althelstan was a mage who romanced Morrigan and I remember the two of them happily taking out other mages for fun. It's why I suspect that a mage warden would easily win in a fight with a mage Hawke or Inquisitor...

Mira's taken a scenic detour to Caer Oswin.

One of the best places to find loot in the game, I think.  It's so cool to have loot that you only find by crawling over something.

Got some great combat screens, but it's a toss up which one I like best.  The one with the Antivan fire after chain lighting is so diabolical, but the shield bash Cass Is about to do is pretty....

Now it's time to go have a word with the Lord Seeker.

Victoria Cousland

helped the circle

went in the fade and turned into a mouse, spirit, a firewoman and  rock woman

I had so much fun in the fade that I was sad I had to leave

its Cullen. He went from being a little boy to playing soldier in DAI

Its Uldred. He's wants to turn me into a ugly looking thing. I want him dead. I win. haha

Wynne joins my party. I have a feeling I will regret that decision

lets go back to camp.

It seems to be a bit of a trope to say that the Fade and the Deep Roads are boring and frustrating in DAO, but I enjoyed both...

Oh, That quest. Wow. One of the shockingest moments of DA2, and also one of the reasons I love the game. Hawke's family is so flawed, with uncle Gamlen being such an ass most of the time, but in that moment, in the aftermath, he's actually a person... if you know what I mean. There really is some great writing in that game, and I am definitely gonna have to play it again sometime soon. It's your fault :P

But Fenris, dude, how tough can it be to put your arms around the woman and just shut up and hold her? You guys wasted three years...

.... but you made up for it

EDIT: Apologies, Melbella. I had to erase some of your emoticons. <_<

No problem...I know the site can't handle too many at once.  :)

Yeah, that quest is tough, and the follow up with Aveline is just.... :crying: I try to put it off as long as possible but I don't like to wait too long because Hubert doesn't come back until after it's done. It seems silly to be running back and forth to the Bone Pit when the city is falling apart, but it is a good way for Hawke to get out of Kirkwall and clear her head. Killing stuff always helps. As for Gamlen, he goes right back to being as ass in Act 3. :P

- Why, oh why do I always have to fall into that damn hole in Valeska's Watch?!

Trust me, it's not just you. If I can ever manage that quest without falling in the hole, well, I better put the game away and call it quits.

On This Episode of Dragon Age Inquisition...Realzing the eight slot limit is actually an eight slot limit.

I think this is the thing I like least about DAI. I mean, we go from the entire bottom of the screen filled with talents and spells and whatnot, to a max of 8? Add in the Inquisitor's special anchor powers and you're down to maybe 6. That just isn't enough for a mage, and barely enough for a rogue or warrior. And, there is no reason for it other than developer fiat. It makes no sense game-wise or lore-wise.

I had to stop using allies, especially mages, at the archdemon battle because the game would always crash. :pinched: That's when I got to know the ballista really well. :D

There's that one spot when you think you can walk safely then nope! It has a hole. Goodbye.

I think I would need to get a drink to believe it. When you're drunk everything seems possible.

I liked them, too! I feel so nostalgic when I go into the teeny tiny bits of Deep Road in DAI. I was disappointed that I could only close off all those access points into the Deep Roads instead of exploring them. As a mage, I'd like to do even more wandering in the Fade. From what people are saying about their hopes for DA4, I feel like there's pressure from fans to pull the game in two very different directions: one group wants a Hawke-like protagonist and more action, like Assassin's Creed, and the other group wants a Warden-like protagonist with an epic story and detailed, lore-based locations.

On a completely different note, these are for Rascoth with two caveats: a) Sims all look like puddings (it's very difficult to make a rugged looking sim) and b ) I went off of memory instead of screenshots.

The dragon fight in DA2 isn't quite as spectacular as what we get in DAI, but it's still pretty good. Until she flies up on to the cliff and you can't damage her at all. <_< I'm also pretty sure Anders didn't revive Fenris on purpose. :pinched: I had to make him do it.

Why not both?  I honestly hope that tech wise, and level of talent wise, games will be nearly reaching the level of something Game of Thrones esque, where you can have very personal stories running around but also a large expansive epic story.  Though give me more personalized stories any day of the week.

Well you do have a lot of that now.  But I was not suggesting different path sort of things.  I mean hell DA O was already done I think what we all want, granted the 'high level' story was bad...at least for me...but the Origin stories made the game very very personal to each Warden.  Just that was without a voiced protag....so there you go.

Yeah, just hearing about mana-clash beforehand was enough for me to stay away from it until it was fixed or modded, and by then I had my own mage-style without it. So I never really missed it. Now, however, i'm thinking that if I do play another game of DA:O I'm gonna have to play a mage just to try it out just because of this discussion

Oddly I didn't care for that trip through the Fade in DA2 as much stupid barrel puzzles and flying books although i liked the confrontation at the end, where Hawke's companions get tempted. That was well done. But I loved the Fade and in DA:O and DA:I and i could've spent the whole game of DA:O in the Deep Roads and not complained..... much
