damn the idea occured to me too. :P

Yeah, just hearing about mana-clash beforehand was enough for me to stay away from it until it was fixed or modded, and by then I had my own mage-style without it. So I never really missed it. Now, however, i'm thinking that if I do play another game of DA:O I'm gonna have to play a mage just to try it out just because of this discussion

One-shotting group of mages was worth any crash. I'll not tell how easier Fade-part was (since we're talking about it).

That's amazing! :D ... Bio should use that on the DA:I website (with proper credit of course)

Nope, that's my wallpaper now. I'll not share!

Oddly I didn't care for that trip through the Fade in DA2 as much stupid barrel puzzles and flying books although i liked the confrontation at the end, where Hawke's companions get tempted. That was well done. But I loved the Fade and in DA:O and DA:I and i could've spent the whole game of DA:O in the Deep Roads and not complained..... much

Deep Roads... That's how I generally feel while playing this part in DAO.

Spoiler

Seriously, it's well done location but by the time I get to Dead Trenches I feel like killing someone, preferably darkspawn... but I can't guarantee safety of other party members.

By the was Spork, thanks to our play earlier I was able to unlock Elementalist

No problem...I know the site can't handle too many at once.  :)

Yeah, that quest is tough, and the follow up with Aveline is just.... :crying: I try to put it off as long as possible but I don't like to wait too long because Hubert doesn't come back until after it's done. It seems silly to be running back and forth to the Bone Pit when the city is falling apart, but it is a good way for Hawke to get out of Kirkwall and clear her head. Killing stuff always helps. As for Gamlen, he goes right back to being as ass in Act 3. :P

Ack, I meant to quote this post too.

Speaking of Gamlen, I'm reminded of a quote from Dexter where Dexter's sister is talking with a psychiatrist about Dexter and in the context of changing his behaviour, the doctor says (something like), "He's been a chair his entire life. You can't expect him to become a table overnight" ... Kinda applies to Gamlen, in a way. For a brief moment he showed us a glimpse of the table he might have been :P

Awww I liked that section of the Deep Roads the best because it felt like I was fighting for my life every step of the way, kinda like a glimpse of how it would be for a grey Warden near the end of their life.... but i can definitely see why not everyone would feel that way :P

And, that's awesome! Congrats :D

Mira's finishing off personal quests, and doing Red Water, this room is always so welcoming.  Oh, yeah, I'm on the right track - it's the Captain Morgan room.  :P

If I'm gonna play Warden submitting to Calling, then by all means throw me to into Deep Roads and let me get into suicidal-psychopath mode. I would pick up all blasting spells, plus Walking Bomb... True mayhem. That's how Grey Warden should go down. With blast.

...

Sorry, daydreaming. I would like Deep Roads way more if there was more than one way to complete them. Like, there's a part where you can sneak around. Oh, and there's smaller tunnel. Less loot, but also less darkspawn. And here! There's old trap which we don't know a thing about, maybe we should use it? *Oghren volunteers*

Is someone moving those statues around? Or maybe someone made replicas? 'Cause they're almost like cheese, in the most unexpected places.

I liked them, too! I feel so nostalgic when I go into the teeny tiny bits of Deep Road in DAI. I was disappointed that I could only close off all those access points into the Deep Roads instead of exploring them. As a mage, I'd like to do even more wandering in the Fade. From what people are saying about their hopes for DA4, I feel like there's pressure from fans to pull the game in two very different directions: one group wants a Hawke-like protagonist and more action, like Assassin's Creed, and the other group wants a Warden-like protagonist with an epic story and detailed, lore-based locations.

I think that a lot of the problem BioWare has is that their games cam be played in so many ways and have so many elements that if they push them in any direction, either in terms of combat mechanics or storytelling, they always end up alienating one part of their fanbase. With DAI they seem to have reacted to the criticisms of DA2 and pushed strongly in the direction of a less defined protagonist and a wider, more open world. This of course alienated many of  those who actually liked DA2.

That's amazing! :D ... Bio should use that on the DA:I website (with proper credit of course)

Glad you liked it. :) My other main hobby besides gaming is photography, so I guess taking pretty pictures in DAI is a combination of the two.

Oh yes, definitely when the Warden is nearing the end, they should go out with a bang and take as many darkspawn as they can with them. B) ... but I like that idea for the deep roads too; but if Bio were ever going to make a whole game zone of the deep roads, there's no reason it can be opened up a bit, with lots of different to explore around.

I adore sarcastic femHawke, and yet I connect more strongly with my inquisitors on a personal level. They feel more like I made them, even though in both cases everything they say was of course written by BioWare...

They definitely have a very distinctive (and sometimes creepy) atmosphere. And, if we see them in their prime, maybe we could learn why the carved tunnels are 50 ft high for 5 ft tall dwarves??

Or we could just ask Solas since he probably "saw it in the Fade...."

Here's something folks may not of known.

When I killed the harvester in Golems of Amgarrak on hard/nightmare I receive a wepon called The Reaper's Cudgel for beating the boss on hard/nightmare. I did this about a year ago. Might be longer.

Why I'm I mentioning this? I started DAO the other day and had that weapon in my inventory at the beginning of the game. The weapon isn't bad, but its worth over 300 sovereigns if sold. So if the weapon is not to your liking, sell it and buy some nice stuff for yourself that you want to have early in the game.

The only real knock against it, to me, is that it has no rune slots, which is criminal on an otherwise very good weapon... So I always sell it.

Thanks. :) I like that it moves too, in the breeze or as Hawke moves. I'm not sure what (if?) they were thinking regarding hair in DAI. Sometimes the simple styles are the best way to go. A couple of weird ones, yeah, sure, okay. But why make most of them so bleeping ugly?!

I think the one in Awakening sells for even more, something like 450 gold? Not that you really need it by then, although if you play without an import you might. I think I ended up with over 1K gold in the game I finished a couple of weeks ago. And of course my inventory was max'ed out, as usual. ^_^ Stupid Warden/Hawke/Quizzy can never throw away anything!

Oh I didn't know that, but then I've only played all the way through Awakenings once, back when it was first released.

So you're a hoarder too? :P ... Do you spend entirely too much time deciding which random backpack-space-taker-upper-that-you-don't-need-abd-will-never-use to sell (or more painfully drop ) when you come across something you actually want, like I do?

I am still working on my gagized screenies for DAO for La Laifah. I am getting close to finishing the prolog pictures. However I intend to divide it up since I am looking at 35-maybe 50 for one post and that's before the prison itself. Lol. I'll try not to go crazy with my posts.

As far as DAI goes I am making great progress with Ullia Mint Tooth on Nightmare. I cleared the Mire almost with ease.

DAImov_08_zps6w01iqhz.gif

I found a good trick for the boss fight. When the fight starts I ran myself into a shaded cover (left or right) and switched to tactics and had everyone go into shaded cover too. this forced the archers to run to where I was which made them be easy pickings but I had to go "ATTACK MY TARGET" to ensure they all died in a jiffy. It took me roughly three tries but the third try was enough. I defenetly feel i am ready for CHAMPIONS OF THE JUST but I'll poke around for a few possible things before I do it. Once it's done i would need to make sure I can do more and get past level 10 because the venetori guys are not easy to beat at level 10 even though they are level 9's. Bloody spellbinders with ice mine, barrier buffs to gladiators and needing to flank gladiators.

So, I just learned that scars are out of the question on PS3 and Xbox 360. Wow! There are many games out there that look 10x better than DA:I on last-gen and it's embarrassing. I wish they optimized it more so certain graphics options take up less CPU and Memory. I thought it was ridiculous that you had to have like Mesh quality to Ultra to even get scars. All of this for scars is a bit much.

Is there a way to download mods for the XBOX 360 and PS 3 versions of DAI? Someone posted a new hair style thing for qunari people I want to use but when I downloaded it for my XBOX 360 it doesn't seem to be noticed on my zip. ><.

Congratulations-from-darling-kitty.jpg

Yeah, it's about MP. I'm an idiot who refuses (or to be precise - is scared) to play with others so I play MP alone. It's true that newbie gear means (almost) instant death, but weekend community challenges were really helpful. Now I have Bloodwake for my mages and 10% HoK ring (I still don't know how I pulled it out from the smallest chest out there). I'm tempted to try PuG, but then I go into Multiplayer forum and that temptation goes away.

This is starting to feel to be my only course of action in order to play MP since I always get idiots to play with on MP. No one knows how to work the targeting system and no one ever played single player NIGHTMARE difficulty.

Oh, That quest. Wow. One of the shockingest moments of DA2, and also one of the reasons I love the game. Hawke's family is so flawed, with uncle Gamlen being such an ass most of the time, but in that moment, in the aftermath, he's actually a person... if you know what I mean. There really is some great writing in that game, and I am definitely gonna have to play it again sometime soon. It's your fault

But Fenris, dude, how tough can it be to put your arms around the woman and just shut up and hold her? You guys wasted three years...

.... but you made up for it

EDIT: Apologies, Melbella. I had to erase some of your emoticons.

Although I like that part where the Inquisitor talks with Maddox, and it is kinda cool to have Cullen along on a quest, I still much prefer the Shrine of Dumat when you side with the templars. It feels so much more mysterious.

Two Cassandras. Harold would be ecstatic! I can just hear him saying to Varric now, "Twins, Varric... twins."

Well I've never gotten all of the Skyhold decorations, in any category, excpert for the major upgrades where you need quyarries and logging sites. I've gotten those three. I've never collected all the different bottles, or songs, or seeds. I've come close on all of them, but never completed. My last game was the first time I've gotyten all the mosaic sets, and I really wanted to do that once before I finally put Inquisition down for good.

Meghan will be the first true Andrastian I've played. Harold was devout, but it was the kind of thing where he'd attend services as a child because his Mother made him do it. He didn't really believe until the events of Inquisition, and even then, he was only enjoying the attention in the beginning. His fairth grew as the game progressed. Meghan will be a strong believer right from the start, unusual maybe, for a mage, but there it is.

Ahh, that's a bummer, and I do agree in that it seems the graphics of this game could stand to be optimized. It's the only game I currently own that really makes my GPU work hard, and I dunno why. other games I own seem like they should be more demanding but aren't.

I'm going to divide this into parts:

1: I agree about Fenris. Naturma Dite was so ungodly smitten to the guy and wanted to be his dream girl but he played mister "i need to be mister lone wolf and all I'll ever do is hurt you". She was glad to have him stick around but the whole lovers on the battlefield thing needed to go beyond that.

2: For these multi quote posts I make I need to delete the bubble heads because the site limits how many bubble heads can be in one post. It would be best for me to delete all bubbleheads to ensure my posts get posted. Sorry all.

3: I kind of prefer the venetori side of this situation because Madox seemed like a die hard loyalist to Smason while the one mage guy was a "test subject" for Corypheus who I felt bad for. Not to mention you can anger your allies and recruit him as a Inquisition member or anger Liliana by killing him.

4: Amolla would of liked to have two Cassandras. I think Cassandra wouldn't of not minded either:

Cassandra: "I have been noticing you have been flirting with me."

Amolla: "I was. Is there something wrong with that?"

Cassandra: "Well...I didn't mind...but...I am a woman and....you are too so..."

Amolla: (Chosen) "Well if you want me to stop it's fine. i understand."

Cassandra: "Ok good. I do treasure our friendship but I want it to remain as such."

I think deep down Cassandra wouldn't of minded a woman to woman relationship so the way I look at it is if there were two Cassandras one would be into women while the other won't be.

5: I usually hit Val Riyoux any chance I get to try to deck out Skyhold and go for a certain theme. However at times I try to go for the DLC themes like Chasind which is a super cool set that easily fits a-lot of my characters I feel. However Chasind isn't buyable in stores but findable. As far as mosiacs there are a pain to get all. I always seem to miss the last piece of one. I was shocked to find all in Hissing Wastes for Malaioniss. You really really really have to look. You have to search dumb places like towers, camp grounds, obscure tree spots, unimportant cave spots, quest spots, mini quest spots, etc. It's dumb.

6: Amolla was a pure believer in Andrastae while Malaioniss was a elf that believed in Andraste and never elf gods. Chasimess was a pure hater of religion. She felt the chantry deserves to not be saved.

I always go for 'get it all' when I decide to play 'properly'. That's why I'm pretty mad about those bugged thrones of mine >.>

I still have to play today, but what I did yesterday?

I cleared out a bit of Emprise. Tower of Bone is mine and mine only! Ekhm... Then I proceed to do that one thing that happens only in Emprise - clearing black spots on map that I don't like but I know I can get rid of. Also, because of all those skill talks I ended up respeccing my whole team (except for Quizzy). You're all evil o 3o

I noticed a few things:

- I'm not used to having Dispel. I forgot it during my first rift fight, then dispelled only one demon during second one.

- There's combat music from time to time! Maybe one day we'll get it every fight, as it was intended.

- You can get every possible Fade-Touched material... except for Silverite... the right one.

- Yay for unlocking Cradle of Suledin!

- Why, oh why do I always have to fall into that damn hole in Valeska's Watch?!

Ohh that Valeska's Watch hole.  ... I watched darkspawn in Origins, and in DA2, and they were pretty clumsy. I watched them leap across the hole in Inquisition, and I thought, okay why can't I do that? And then I realized it's the same reason I can't leap up on a waist-high rock to climb over it.  I also gotta say i'm not a big fan of dispel for rifts. When the second wave is spawning you've got a few seconds to get near enough to one to use dispel, and I personally found that, more often than not I seemed I'd dispel one of those stupid wisps instead of something that might actually kill me, heh. So I'd rather us e a skill slot for something else, in the end. That's just me, though.

On This Episode of Dragon Age Inquisition...Realzing the eight slot limit is actually an eight slot limit.

My sad tale actually starts yesterday.  I was in the Solassan Temple surrounded by Electric Glyphs, which really really hurt.  So I decided to have Dorian dispel them, which he did not have Dispel ever cued up.  So I swapped out Barrier for it, and tried it out, ironically the glyphs did not dissapate.  So anyways I left it witout a thought.

Now I have been suspicious of this fact for a while.  Despite your character 'knowing' the spell/ talent and despite them having it set up to active they don't actually use it unless it is in thier eight.  I was laboring under the assumpetion that this was not the case even though I had have a growing suspicion.

These suspicions were confirmed today, because in battle after battle, time after time, Dorian would not cast a single Barrier.  That made me awfully squishy indeed.  Plus I can never recall an instance of him being in the party and casting revival.  The other big spell from the Spirit tree that is needed.

Anyways though I went to go start the Jaws of Hakkon today, after a brief detour into the Hinterlands to seal off a rift that had appeared thanks to a war table mission.  Man is the Frostback Basin tough, and man was it prohivitively so without barriers at first.  But, did find a new armor for Iron Bull, and now he has five guard per hit, and more health...I do believe.  Picked up a few schematics...crafted a helmet for Blackwall...then sold it later.

But cleared out rifts, met with the stone bear hold, cleared out Hakkonite camps, and then been getting some more experience and levels and trying some other things out.  Still difficult, and then there was an amazing moment involving three pride demons bearing down on me...and my characters are now more tanky but still maybe not tanky enough.

Hey, I never thought of that. Good idea! Batting practice anyone?

I never let my other mages use dispel either. I think I've said before that i rarely even pay attention to what any of my companions are doing in combat, unless they're dying. Then I frantically mash the keyboard in the general area of the 9 key and hope I hit the healing potion for them  ... you know, when they're being too moronic to use a healing potion themselves.

I don't mind eight slot limit, but I understand frustration of some players. It's especially shocking if you played mage in DAO then moved to DAI.

I'll not call it idiotic... but it's idiotic that you can have more than eight spells 'active' yet character never uses them. If you want to keep 8 skills limit, extend it to tactics. This way no one will hope to have that one more skill used.

I've learned hard way that for Dorian to use Revive you need to take control over him and auto-attack for a while for him to regain enough mana. He maybe once revived others by himself. Or maybe it was Solas? Hmnmn...

They never make it to upper floor. And I have all loot nicely under my feet xD

Hah, yeah. Their use of Dispel kind of reminds me of the way AI handles Mana Clash in DAO. Never when I need it xD It was kind of annoying, because DAO liked to crash after Mana Clash.

Oh? My companions use healing potions pretty wisely.

The only way you can have your A.I. allies use revive or dispel is by going to the tactics menu and mark them as "Top Priority" (Star). This really really really helps. Like for instance for the revive spell lets say I get downed. LITERALLY in the fraction of 0.2 to 0.3 seconds of going down I am INSTANTLY revived like going down NEVER HAPPENED. Dispel is a bit of a different case. It may take 30 seconds to a minute for a ally to cast it but the A.I. is smart enough to know that when it's recharged it will instantly cast it again IF the barrier is still up. However at times I wonder why they tend to cast dispel on armored targets? Anyhoo my suggestion is for BARRIER, the revive spell and DISPEL put these on "Star" or as you Rascoth, Sporkfu, and Al Foley said "These spells will never be used even though they learned them". i still feel the reason why is the games A.I.  feels attack magic is the most important thing to use and never defensive magic. However I always put X on character specials since they use them on wrong guys every time and never bosses. The only thing I always put on X in the spirit tree is the MIND BLAST. It's a meh DAOE temporary stun.

Haha...yes, too often! It's why I "cheat" during the Deep Roads in DAO and make a few trips back to camp in between areas. I can't leave anything behind! :P It's also why I love the inventory increase mod for DAI. But sadly, it still doesn't work with the latest patch. :( The storage chest is ok, but it is really cumbersome to switch between inventory and storage just to decide what to equip because you have to take it all out and then put it all back. It's so much easier having everything available at once.

Her own writer is gay. I think if he wanted it that way, he would have had no qualms doing so. He's a pretty unapologetic person otherwise. What we see is what we get.

I have to wonder if it's even the same team working on it. Their hair and headwear is just badly done in general (like the helms with that white skullcap underneath).

I adore sarcastic femHawke, and yet I connect more strongly with my inquisitors on a personal level. They feel more like I made them, even though in both cases everything they say was of course written by BioWare...

Same here. I love sarcastic femHawke, but I feel closer to my Inquisitors.

You remember that crazy dwarf we meet at the beginning of Awakening? That's how my Warden would be like during his/her last journey xD

This is starting to feel to be my only course of action in order to play MP since I always get idiots to play with on MP. No one knows how to work the targeting system and no one ever played single player NIGHTMARE difficulty.

Idiots are one matter, but people who insist that they're better than you are even worse >.> I may have no experience like that from DAMP, but I know it really well from other multiplayer games. Let's not forget there are those in MP that haven't even touched SP.

Even if I put star on a skill they have, if it's not on 8 slot bar, character will not use it. I already have Barrier on priority, but as you suggested I may put Revive on priority as well. Thanks for that idea.
