Playing Dragon Age: Origins for the very first time.

The warden is a Dalish archer, and I made sure to borrow some features from Kieran since the Morrigan romance will be canon in my DA keep.

That means brown hair, relatively pronounced cheekbones and fuller lips than the initial preset's.

Pq0tSP3b.jpg

I'm unsure about something, though.

Would it be better to have his chin/lower lip moved a little forward?

Ashalle refuses to talk about the warden's parents even when I'm just about to finish the Dalish origin story.

She says I have to focus on finding Tamlen, like she's still stuck in the story's earlier stage.

Mira was a bit flustered leaving Skyhold, and left in her PJs.  To make matters worse, I had wondered what that really sweet suit of armor was doing in inventory, so I handed it on to my bestie and sold theirs, so I had to make more...

Marcus did that twice. First time was the siege of Adamant.

Spoiler

Oopsie.

I keep a lot of things. Mainly Unique Weapons. Never exceeded 300 though.

Somehow I have decided I need to keep 1 of every type of enhancement ring that I find. You know, just in case I might want to use them. Those, plus multiple copies of resistance belts I always forget to put on take up most of my storage chest space. Also the unique armors and weapons that I've outclassed but like to keep 'cause they're neat. Towards the end of the game I will clear it out to build up my gold stash. I really prefer the huge inventory though.

Pretty big keyhole if my whole party can get through it xD But I really like this fight. Pride Demon scales to your level, so it's not that boring. And all those electric mines around o 3o

In my last game I did fine against the demon, then got killed by a mine while going for the loot. <_< It was very undignified, so I reloaded. :P

I'm not compatible with DA:I char creation

LOL....sorry, I just found that amusing. I can totally sympathize. I don't know why the devs can't figure out that dark CC environments are BAD!

I think you need to have 1 persuasion skill point in order to get her to answer you. It's been a while since I played a Dalish though, so I could be wrong....

The Witcher 3.  Drives me bonkers.  My poor Roach is carrying around 122 lbs of crap right now.  I don't really bother using inquisition perks to get more carrying capacity anymore.  I just try to go back and forth to Skyhold regularly.  But sometimes it is just so easy to roam and explore and whatnot and all of a sudden I'm at my 60 lb cap.  Oops.  I wish you had a storage chest at each of your keeps too.  That would be even more awesome.

I feel your pain.

Hi, my name is Papa Charlie, and I'm a loot hoarder. If it has a Unique purple border, I can't part with it. Before the real storage chest, I used to use all of my non-active companions as my storage chest! I never took Vivenne anywhere, so she was loaded up with all sorts of exotic stuff.

And my obsessive hoarding has paid off! I still have the original Wedge of Destiny shield, which pairs very nicely with my brand new The Jade Ham!

But Skyrim wins the award for biggest enabler of hoarders. Not only are there persistent containers with infinite capacity all over the place, you can also build trophy rooms with manikins to show off looted armor, weapon cases for gear, bookshelves for tomes, etc., etc. Or you can just throw everything into a pile in a persistent room:

Meet Brin Trevelyan.

Spoiler

Brin is of the noble Trevelyan house but has not seen them in quite some time. She is a rogue who loves the outdoors and a more simple life style then that of noble birth. As a young girl barely able to look after herself, she set out from the comfortable life in the Free Marches and eventually found herself in the Frostback mountains. There she joined up with an Avvar clan and it was there she found her new family. There she lived a simple life and enjoyed simple pleasures. But she never forgot certain aspects of her roots. Despite following Avvar beliefs, she remained a devout Andrastian. She believes still in the Maker and the chantry. So when word of the templar and mage war reached them, she took note of this. When it was discovered that the Temple of Sacred Ashes in the Frostback mountains was going to be the location of talks between mages and templars, Brin stepped forward to head a small infiltration group. After all with so many mages, templars and chantry clerics traveling through the frostback, how could one not be concerned?

However her mission did not go so well as the Conclave was destroyed and she the prime suspect... the sole survivor.

Brin found herself among strange people with a strange mark upon her hand. They claimed the mark was from the maker and that she was the Herald of Andraste. Due to her religious beliefs, Brin believes this to be true. The mark has helped to close rifts left by the breach in the sky and people are accepting her. The world around them is falling apart and soon this will effect even the Avvar. So she has put her heart into helping right things as best she can.

Currently she is about to head to the Hinterlands to meet with a chantry sister there who is trying to help those caught up in the fighting between mages and templars.

Malia's day wasn't quite as eventful as yesterday but it was still busy. She, Aveline, Fenris, and Varric cleared out the rest of the nighttime mooks and their crazy bosses, which made someone named Red Jenny very happy.

Aveline learned the former guard-captain was back in town trying to stir up trouble. That didn't go so well for Jeven.

Spoiler

Orsino asked Malia to look into why some mages were leaving the Gallows at night. He was hoping it wasn't blood magic but needed to be sure. Turned out they were getting friendly with some Templars, and both sides attacked Malia and friends on sight. Sigh.
Spoiler

At least the view from the docks at night is pretty. :)
Spoiler

In other news, Fenris is still a badass.
Spoiler

Malia is now lvl 26. I don't want to finish Best Served Cold just yet, but I do want to get the Sword of Mercy for Fenris before starting Mark of the Assassin. Not sure who else I will bring besides him. I know his arguments with Anders are pretty funny but I've left Anders chilling in Darktown for quite some time. Malia hasn't talked to him yet about his real plan - she's still annoyed over having to run around the sewers for sela petrae. She made Anders pick it all up, though.  :P  Aveline is also an option, especially since she gets an extra little quest. Isabela is too squishy, as is Varric. I wish I could bring a full squad and have Tallis as an "extra" instead of one of the party since she is also incredibly squishy. Oh well, I'll figure it out when I get there. :)

Today in the Inquisition I am pleased to present the saga of a couple of Inquisition soldiers and their quest to deliver some new dragon-themed decor to Skyhold. As luck would have it, I happened to capture the entire epic adventure with screenshots

To set things up:

We are playing on routine difficulty; which is challenging enough for this guy, let me tell you. The part of Korbin the Legionnaire was played by me, SporkFu. Korbin is a level 11 Legionnaire, though there is some kind of bug which has demoted him to level 3, but allowed him to keep all his ability points. :D

The part of Neria the saviour batman Keeper was played by Rascoth. Neria is a level 19 Keeper and so she soaked up most of the aggro from the bad guys and the dragon. If that wasn't the case I would have likely died long before the final battle

Editor's note: Since I'm the one who took the screenshots, the camera is centered on Korbin, and as a melee character the camera had to follow me while I ran towards potential targets. Unfortunately because of this you will not see many of the epic things Rascoth did during the battle to keep my ass alive as we fought. I noticed them, however, and before we begin, I just want to say thanks Rascoth :)

Our quest begins here, at an old Fereldan Fortress against a... well, as you can see in the distance, a dragon.
Spoiler

We got right to work and encountered our first enemies; some venatori and a bizarre-looking creature I dunno the name of.
Spoiler

There is a recurring theme in this epic saga that some may notice as the tale progresses. I'll point it out here in the beginning, so that you will know what to look for. Korbin -- again, played by yours truly -- can often be found facing away from the battle, for some unexplained reason as part of an ancient and elaborate combat ritual practiced by the Legion of the Dead... *ahem*
Spoiler

And with those deaths on the bridge, stage one of our epic quest was complete. Thanks to the barriers Rascoth kept tossing out there for both of us, we made it through relatively unscathed and it went straight into two, which begins with lightning. *spoiler alert* there will be a lot of lightning ahead. We'll also fight a venatori mini-boss.
Spoiler

This venatori archer patiently waited for Korbin to climb the ladder...
Spoiler

We had only to take care of a few more venatori and stage two was complete. Again we made it through relatively unscathed. So far the fighting hasn't been very difficult.
Spoiler

To be continued...

The Epic Saga of Neria the Keeper and Korbin the Legionnaire, Part Two:
We left our soldiers of the Inquisition trying to tget to the top of an old Fereldan Fortress, to procure some dragon-theemed decor for their Inquisitor. They don't ask why the Inquisitor wants this decor. They are loyal soldiers of the Inquisition. They do what they are told :D

We begin stage three, as you can see, entering a zone called, "The Bridge", where we soon encountered another venatori mini-boss.
Spoiler

And then, while I got distracted by the shiny gold nearby, Neria blasted some bad guys with lightning. And then we fought some wolves. And another venatori mini-boss with a very big axe.
Spoiler

And then Korbin got distracted again, first by the reason we were even there in the first place, and then by more gold, right at the foot of the bridge. As you will see: more wolves. So many wolves.
Spoiler

Stage three was nearly complete, but first...
Spoiler

We finally cleared the bridge of the wolves and the venatori and were about to bang that gong, when the dragon did a fly-by. The one drawback of FRAPS is that the pause between screenies is sometimes where all the action is and you're left with a pair of feet and, er, some tail... uhh, yeah.

The Unapologetically Screenshot-Filled Epic Saga of Neria the Keeper and Korbin the Legionnaire, part Three...

Our heroes begin the next stage of their quest having just crossed a wolf-filled bridge and summoned a dragon. it's a good thing for them, as you will see, that the dragon prefers to be fashionably late for everything. She must be an Orlesian
Spoiler

And with that, stage four was over. We had only one thing left to do, and in case we had forgotten what that was, exactly....dragon dropped an iceball on Neria's head. You know, just as a reminder.
Spoiler

Tune in again next time, for the conclusion of the Epic Quest of Neria and Korbin! Here's a little teaser...

The More Epic Than Lord of the Rings Epic Quest of Neria the Keeper and Korbin the Legionnaire Concludes With A Showdown (finally) Between Our Heroes and An Ice Dragon.

Our Quest concludes with a very exciting fight against an Ice Dragon. We had gotten this far without too much trouble. Easy for me to say that of course; I had a level 19 Keeper on my side on a routine-difficulty quest. But I don't care. For me all dragon fights are Epic. To the battle we go...

This dragon, who is nameless as far as I know, reminded me very much of Hivernal from Emprise du Lion in the SP campaign. In appearance anyway. As you will see, this dragon had a lot of children.
Spoiler

She has correctly identified Neria as the greater threat, and is attempting to put the freeze on her. Ha! Ha, I say. She is chilled but still fighting.
Spoiler

The fight gets going in earnest now, as Korbin tries to bash away at the dragon's elbows (or is it knees) with his fire mace, and we get a close-up of Neria about to work her magic...
Spoiler

The dragon didn't like that too much, so she swatted Korbin away and took off for a nearby ledge...
Spoiler

While she rested, we had to fight the first of many waves of her dragonling kiddies...
Spoiler

Then she re-joined the fight...
Spoiler

She flew away again, and we fought another wave of dragonlings, and it looks as though I'm going to have to split the finale into two posts. To be continued...

No really, this time it's the final conclusion of the Epic Quest of Neria the Keeper and Korbin the Legionnaire... and this time I mean it

We have defeated the second wave of dragonlings and so the dragon has landed again to give us a fair chance to defeat. Say what you want about dragons, but that's decent of them, right? ... Now, is it just me, or does Korbin seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in this battle flat on his butt

Spoiler

While the next sequence doesn't actually start with Korbin on his butt... well, you'll see.
Spoiler

The dragon returned, looking just a little choked...
Spoiler

And now the actual final true finale (I think). The dragon returns to the ground for one last showdown. I wish she had a name. Do the dragons in MP have names and I just didn't know it?
Spoiler

And so the Epic Quest ends. I hope you good folks enjoyed the screenies. There were 1900+ of them to sort through when the operation was over, so I think I did a pretty good job of picking out some good ones. I tried to convey the sheer sense of enjoyment I experienced at every juncture of this. I had a blast, I really did. Once again, thanks Rascoth, for saving my butt. :)

Now, was it worth it? You be the judge...

Yep, I was sitting here watching it happen and going, "Heyyyy... wait, what??? NOoooo!" ...good thing I don't have a mic, I guess.

Wild adventure guys!  Thanks for posting all those screens, Spork.  Wow.

Mira finally quit procrastinating and dragged her Qunari butt to the Duchess' ball.  It was everything she thought it would be, but regardless, she managed to get everyone to publicly shake hands and put their weapons down.  I haven't gotten past meeting Morrigan in the garden and visiting the Eluvian world viewing screens, though.  The eluvian world is so calm and otherworldly.

I did find Merrill's mirror  :) , but apparently I didn't hit the right key to capture it.  I like the fall colors in this when Morrigan is first approached in the garden.
