Nice to harvest that Great Bear Hide for sure.... do you use a lot of grenades in combat? I never do, never think of them  Health potions and that's it, and if I run out of those, then the regen potion. I think I've only even unlocked the third potion slot in my first game. Oh wait, i unlocked it right at the end of my last game.

But then, I play on casual B)

Normal here.  I'm not very coordinated with the controls (first computer a couple years ago.)

Grenades are really worth it.  Healing mist can be a lifesaver during dragon fights, and confusion grenade can double the size of your fire team if you have a tricky mob.  Jar of Bees is a boss killer.

I don't think I ever want to meet six Emprise bears... those... four(?) that came at me in a row in Hinterlands were quite enough. They should add a war table operation "extinct all bears"...

"Stay the hell out of it?" O:)

I will never forget the moment when I maxed out Dorian's lightning tree, gave him awesome lightning staff (because lightning staff has the prettiest effects!) and then with him as the only mage in group encountered a pack of Pride Demons. I believe I cried. >.<

But war table operation would allow me to do other (and more exciting) stuff while Josephine would diplomatically convince the bears it's much better to go harass Tevinter or Qunari than south of Thedas. ;)

Yes, after this I ensured I had enough supply of staves in my inventory and I gave each mage a staff of different element than their specialisation, so in case of surprise attacks either auto-attack or spells would hit.

In response to the bolded:  Yep, that's me.  I love to take a couple spells to cover elemental resistances, then try to carry the staff appropriate to each region's wildlife.  Then I forget to switch it all out when I change regions.  It's not too big a deal.  I killed the FB with a fire staff first time (she died laughing at me,) and I only just found out that the Emerald Graves dragon is an ice dragon, two times ago.... Even the wrong staff does some damage, and with a couple buffs and auto attack, they all go down.  You can even use the wrong staff on a barrier.  I had to fight an electricity resistant spider in JoH, with an electrical staff and nothing but lightning spells equipped.  I wound up following it and found out something cool, because I couldn't do much else.  You never know....

I haven't played that, though I was thinking about buying it. Is it good?

Definitely worth it.  The fights and terrain take the game up several notches in difficulty, and playing it will make combat and navigation in the main game much easier.  Plus, the scenery's gorgeous, like the Arbor Wilds.  The locals are really neat, and the boss fight at the end is a real challenge.

Very highly recommended, with a lot of exploration potential after the main game too.

Nice. Congrats on another PT. I've just recently gotten Origins fully installed on my system again, and I'm thinking about starting up a game. It's been awhile. I was saying to someone that I'd like to play Awakenings too because I've only ever completed it once. Started it several times, but only finished it once, so it'd be a fairly new experience.

Thanks

I used Wynne, dog and Leliana for the whole game. It was the easiest run I've had. It was also the first time I never used the bastila to kill the archdemon. Lots of different dialogue from Alistair if he's never used especially when going to fight the archdemon

I played as a warrior using a sword and shield. Very good. The way I had Leliana setup, she was dealing a lot more damage than I was. It was Wynne that surprised me. She stayed far enough away to keep everyone alive with her heal spells.

I officially made up my mind:

The game is good up until Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts and Here Lies the Abyss.

Then it falls apart and makes me not want to play it again.

Hang in there.  Those are some tough quests, but they're only small portions of the whole.  They also get easier over time.  Last time through WEWH, I even managed to get the ending I wanted without getting stressed out.

No those are fine.

I think a lot of the main ideas behind the quests (including those) are good... but it's everything inbetween that's weak. Also, things kind of fall apart with the mage/templar war right off of the bat. I don't know about you, but I was expecting something a bit more involved and dramatic coming off of DA2 and Asunder. It doesn't seem like much of a war.

It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that when they patched the ending they made it so that you no longer needed the extra "Galactic Readiness" from playing MP in order to get the "best" endings. If that is what's putting you off, don't let it. They are great games in my opinion.

Yeah here you are... You used to need 4000 EMS but they lowered it to 3100 which is achievable with the vanilla SP. With extra DLC it becomes even easier... http://masseffect.wi...wiki/War_Assets

With the original ending, 4000 ems was needed to get the breath scene if Anderson is "saved". If TIM kills Anderson, 5000 ems was needed for the breath scene.

The extended cut lowered it to 3100 ems.

If you save Anderson, you only need 2900 ems when heading to Earth since he gives you 200 war assets. If you choose to let TIM kill Anderson, 3200 ems is needed when heading to Earth since you lose 100 assets since you let TIM kill Anderson

Even doing everything in a default ME3 playthrough without dlc and mp wasn't enough to reach 3100 ems at 50% galactic readiness. The most assets was about 2950, but if you "save" Anderson, that extra 200 war assets is enough to give you the breath scene

After reversing patch to number 7 (everything for Flycam), Connie started her adventure in Frostback Basin. Divine Victoria... I mean Cassandra, Vivienne and Sera joined Inquisitor.

First thing first, party camp. Connie wonders where irreplaceable Scout Harding stores all her energy.

Then everyone got distracted by beautiful surrounding. I ended up spending way too much time looking for good places for screenshots.

Still, do you know any good gameplay videos? I'm not sure about combat system. How close is it to shooter? Or is it typical shooter? I'm not good at this type of games...

Eh? Saving Anderson is one thing that you can do to get more EMS. Why are you separating it from all the other things? Anyway with the other DLC there's plenty of EMS to be had. You really don't need MP to get all the endings now.

I would suggest looking at the very many gameplay video's seen on youtube for Mass Effect.

I would also suggest looking at the 'Combat and Strategy' sections in the ME forum's. A lot of helpful tips.

It's a third person cover shooter. It's not typical because like DA you can pause and choose which power to use while giving orders to squadmates. You can't take direct control of companions like in DA but you can tell them where to go and when to use their powers.

Not to mention the Casual settings are a cinch. Shouldn't be a prob for someone not keen on shooters.

Yes. Try it. Go to Earth with around 2900 ems and save anderson

Not until Leviathan was released there wasn't

Indeed. I've known a few people who dislike shooters who got through the game just fine.

I'm sorry. This thread has a lovely atmosphere and I'm not here to start an argument. It's just that I was explaining to Rascoth that it is currently possible to get all the endings in ME3 without MP. The rest is just details that are going to fly over Rascoth's head without knowledge of the games. That's all I'm getting at. :)

Not your fault! There have been so many arguments over the ME3 endings and tying MP to SP that it can be tough to even mention the subject without getting defensive. Seems like we got through it, anyway. :)

Not a bad idea. Also it seems that Rascoth is on PC so it might be worth keeping an eye out for a Steam sale or similar to get the first ME for cheap.

After those or while doing those does it fall apart?

I liked WEWH, I don't mind multiple PTs through it, but Abyss pisses me off to no end and I'd be more than happy to be able to skip straight to the Fade. The Fade part is fun, but the stupidity of the Order at Adamant just makes my blood boil. Having to kill uncorrupted loyal-to-the-death Wardens makes me ill.

EDIT: Caught up, saw that you meant after. What about "What Pride Had Wrought" falls apart for you? Personally, I liked having that loose end tied up, about Morrigan through the Looking Glass. The good sized lump of revealed elf lore was good too, though the writers do kind of beat you over the head with all that. At least it is all easily skipped in subsequent PTs.

Yep, I'm on PC. If I were to buy it, it would surely do that during sale :) I think for now I'll stick to idea of asking everyone I know 'do you have ME?'

Thank you!  It's Archon Fire Staff. Before Black Emporium the only way to get it was as random loot. Now it's possible to buy schematic in BE.

It's place in the narrative.

There's literally no setup for it, it doesn't follow logically from what has happened previously in the plot, it's just "Oh BTW Corypheus is almost toast and all his dudes are in the Arbor Wilds so let's just march in with no idea what we're walking into and finish him." It comes absolutely out of nowhere, and is the nail int he coffin for having Corypheus be an intimidating villain. He's completely and entirely useless, you run circles around him even though you don't even know where you're going or why exactly you're there or what you're supposed to do, AND you got there AFTER he did.

WPHW neuters the villain, the pacing and the narrative. The actual mission is ok I guess, but it's what it does to the story that's the problem.
