The Herald's Rest = the 5th beat. Two stanzas of iambic pentameter, symbolizing the pause. Nice dialogue, too. Good writing, Spork. I'm so jealous.
Very cool plaque.

Miri talked with Varric and he told her, if she wanted to know what Arishok had for breakfast, she should ask Leliana. So out of curiosity she went to ask her. The spymaster looked at her as if she fell from some high place and landed on her head and then started talking about some guy called Vicinius. ![]()
Thank youGreat set-up! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story.

I'm not sure who is more pathetic: Harold, for letting himself go like that, or Marcus for traveling back in time to romance Dorian instead.

Finding notWarden Blackwall
He steps through the doorway into a crowded, noisy tavern. Filled with people and noise, warmth and welcome, and a pretty lady singing a song about grey wardens. He smiled and took a deep breath, and was headed for the bar when i glint caught his eye. A plaque on the wall, shining in the firelight. He stepped up to read it and saw...
The Herald's Rest
A place for all in service here
To rest, recoup and persevere.
Though weighs the heart, remember best,
Your saving grace, the Herald's Rest.
We beat the Beast, by strength and will,
The Herald's heart, inspires still.
We're brothers all, and sisters too,
So make your mark and drink to you!
Below the verse are countless notches scratched into the metal; most faded, but some are still fresh. he smiles again to himself, and brushes his fingers across the letters before moving further inside. he is somewhat startled to see a lone man sitting at the bar, and everyone else in the place seemed to be giving him a wide berth. His wide shoulders were hunched and when the pretty minstrel began a song that everyone in Thedas knew, called "Once We Were," He looked on as the man flinched as though absorbing a blow. He took a long drink and slammed the empty mug down on the bar, signaling for a refill. The bartender frowned but said nothing as he poured.
Realization dawned and the newcomer began to make his way through the crowd and towards the man who was his reason for being here, in a sense. Sticking to that story when anyone asked had gotten him through the gates of Skyhold anyway. Suddenly he heard, "I wouldn't go over there if I were you..."
He turned and saw a dwarf sitting relaxed at a table in a corner, positioned so he could keep an eye on the man at the bar. A pretty young woman was sitting next to him and smiling as though he'd just said something charming. he was wearing a fancy red embroidered tunic, open to the belly, and copious tufts of thick hair covered the man's chest. Sitting on the chair next to him was the most amazing crossbow the man had ever seen. It looked more like a siege engine than a bow! he said, "That's a nice crossbow you have there." and was a bit surprised to see the dwarf only sigh and look wistfully over at the bar.
"That's the first thing he said to me, too. Come over here and sit down."
As he approached the table, the woman rose, picked up her serving tray and left them alone, a giggle on her lips and a breathless, "Don't you worry, Mister Tethras. I'll not stay away long."
"You're really him, aren't you? You accompanied-"
"Shh, kid. Not so loud," The dwarf interrupted with a glance to the bar. "Just... don't say his name. Not tonight."
"So that is him! he's the reason I'm here, you know! I-"
The dwarf grimaced, "Will you keep it down? He's the reason we're all here."
"Of course, of course, but I meant..."
"Sure, kid. Sit down. You can buy the next round and tell me what you meant. Leave him alone. What's your name, anyway?"
He sat down, grinning like a fool while Varric signalled for drinks. "My name isn't important. It's what I make that's important."
"Really. And what is it you make?"
" Well... it's a simple utensil, really." He was warming up to his pitch now, but kept his voice lowered, heeding Varric's warning. "I was hoping to impress him with it, then maybe I could get an endorsement, and-"
"Sure. I get it," Varric chuckled. "You want to cash in on his fame. You and countless others. This utensil better be a good one, kid."
"Oh it is! It's a combination spoon and fork. I call it a-"
Varric roared laughter drawing glances from almost everyone. Only the man at the bar didn't turn to look, but only hunched his shoulders. "I'm going to stop you right there, kid. That's the craziest idea I've ever heard. Even crazier than Bianca here. And let me give you a piece of advice. If you approached him with that, he'd have Bull throw you off the battlements. Trust me."
Crestfallen, the took a long drink of his ale and glanced over at the bar again. "Do you think I could at least meet him? I've come an awfully long way."
"I dont think so, kid. Not tonight anyway."
"What's so special about tonight? Why is everyone leaving him alone?"
"It's two years ago tonight that she was crowned the new Divine. He's gotten a lot better about it, but-"
"You mean The Divine? Victoria?"
The minstrel's song halted with a gasp and all sound in the Tavern stopped, followed quickly by all eyes turning to the bar. Only one person dared approach the bar, maybe because no one could have stopped him anyway. Footsteps so heavy they shook the beams, and a loud roar, "Which one of you a**holes said that? Listen boss, it's alright-"
The man with the wide shoulders stood up and faced the big qun'ari. He simply shook his head and walked out the tavern, a scowl on his face and a haunted look in his eyes. The qun'ari, who could only be the Iron Bull, clenched his fists and started towards the dwarf's table, ready to snap someone in half.
Varric raised his hand up and shook his head. "Leave him alone, Bull. He's new here. He doesn't know any better."
Bull took a deep breath, sat down, and bellowed for more ale. He looked coolly at the newcomer for a moment. "Yeah," he snorted. "Not worth it." [
"Look, i'm sorry! I had no idea! I-"
"forget it, kid. He wasn't always like this, you know."
"No sh*t, Tethras. He used to be much worse. Why don't you tell him about the Frostback Basin?"
"The Basin? You big ass. I wasn't even there, and you just want to hear about your own glory, not his!"
"Yeah, well. When a story is good, it's good. Go on, tell it."
"All right. Listen up kid. The days after the defeat of corypheus were heady days for all of us. It seemed all of Thedas was basking in the glory of the inquisition's accomplishment. The only pair who didn't seem entirely happy were the ones most responsible for our celebrations; The Inquisitor, and Divine Justinia's Right Hand.Spoiler
"It wasn't long before we found out why they weren't happy. It seemed she'd been elected to be the new Divine, and was leaving Skyhold in a matter of days to begin knitting together the tattered rags of the Chantry. Her departure broke Harold. I don't know any other way to say it, but he wasa broken man. He took to wandering all over, alone, for days and weeks at a time. When he returned he would binge-drink for days. Ruffles... that is, Ambassador montilyet was starting to find it difficult to make excuses for him with the visiting nobles and dignitaries.
"None of us knew what to do. He refused all help, pushing away everyone who cared. All we could do was hope he'd snap out of it. in the meantime, life in the Inquisition continued. And one day a letter arrived...."
[i]To Ambassador Josephine Montilyet,
Thank you so much for your earlier correspondence. I confess it's been difficult to get those in Orlais to take this discovery seriously in light of recent events, but I am positive that scouting the Frostback Basin will yield historic discoveries to both the academic field and the Inqusition. As a staunch supporter, i am honored to be working in such great company on this historic occasion.
Yours, most sincerely,
Professor Bram Kenric
University of Orlais
"Well, sh*t," Varric continued, taking a long pull from his mug. "It seemed our good ambassador had come up with a plan to get the Inquisitor off his self-pitying ass and doing something important again. And it worked! here's what happened..."

I've decided to put aside the magequisition, for a brief time only, and play through the Jaws of Hakkon DLC again. mainly due to all the amazing screenies people have been posting here lately. I've only played it once and I'm looking forward to it. I've gone back to my second Inquisitor for this one. Some of you may remember Harold "the Herald" Trevelyan. He's a Tempest archer, and he was in love Cassandra, who became the new Divine and broke his heart. Awwww. I took Harold into the Black Emporium and changed his appearance a little bit. He's still Harold, but different.Spoiler
I've crafted him some all new gear and he's ready for the adventure. Been awhile since I played a ranged character (except in MP), so i hope it doesn't take long to come back to me. The Frostback Basin is an unforgiving place, so I've heard
I know that Cassie is still available for the adventure if I want her to be, but I'm role-playing this so that that she's not. It's post-Corypheus, so Solas is gone. In Harold's game, I booted both Sera and Cole out of the Inquisition, figuring they were redundant since I was playing a rogue. Don't worry, I regretted itbut it doesn mean that Harold's adventuring companion choices are somewhat limited. Good thing I didn't banish the grey wardens, too
I've chosen Blackwall, Bull, and Dorian to accompany Harold on this one, which is why Varric told Bull he wasn't even there.
So, without further ado, here we go...

Spoiler
Unfortunately that's all I have time for before work today. I'll try and get some better screenies, and more of them next time, when the adventures of heart-broken Harold continue.
You could give him the keys for the Mako

And grrrr for the cliff hanger. (No not the mako) write more, and quickly! ![]()
A cross-over? Drunk, pathetic Harold in the Andromeda Galaxy behind the wheel of the most awesome vehicle that galaxy has ever seen? Oooooooh. You could give him the keys for the Mako

My mage driving the mako? I can see that. It will be her version of crushing prison. hahahaha
Or a new spell tree called The Mako. A passive power is extra damage when running over the baddies. And activate power would be turbo boost against the dragon for 2x the damage. Sustained power would be flames coming out of the exhaust to burn your enemies from behind. hahaha.
When you let Hawke die and hug Varric for your own selfish reasons...
If you're a Femquisitor and you hug Varric... I don't think Varric understands the whole situation.
What my Femquisitor is trying to say to Varric when hugging him is: Sleep on these...
LOLOLOLOL!
Varric, you should not let Bianca see this. She'd go bananas! ![]()
Finally, managed to catch up with my playthrough (and this thread) today.
Rick the warrior dwarf on nightmare...
This is just a brief summary because it's a restarted playthrough to import the world state that I wanted to:
I was trying to figure out who to support in the Mages/Templars conflict. And then... "Let's Do The Time Warp Again - RHPS" played on the radio in the background so this has influenced me to choose the mages
. Going to kick Alexius back to Transylvania Tevinter.
The herald made his way to Redcliffe. My next post will be longer and more descriptive
Aside note: ran out of likes for the first time today as well
.
He's still Harold, but different.
Spoiler
Nice story setup for post game Harold and his scruffier look. Looking forward to reading more on this ![]()

I'm guessing Marcus convinced Alexius to use time magic for him to go back and rewrite history?
I'm feeling a little torn, cause I can't decide if I want to continue Bruce's adventures, or play MP to write on my fanfic.
Bruce is supposed to fight some Dragons (Vinsomer, all Emprise Dragons), I think he tries to procrastinate cause he doesn't want to die again.

I vote for soloing all three Emprise dragons (one after the other) with no companions or potions and if he dies then it's considered a permanent death and you have to start again from the beginning. ![]()
I am being a hypocrite because I probably couldn't solo one dragon. ![]()

Of course! And of course Bruce will use mostly immolate and Winters Grasp against them.
Which are really the spells he uses most, next to Stonefist.

An updated rule for the dragon fights is... you are not allowed to use spells.
So this means - three dragons with no potions and only relying on your staff attacks ![]()
On nightmare as well. ![]()

You are in luck! I'm pretty sure you can buy back at the Redcliffe Villager weapon's dealer. ![]()
Wait, wait, even better. If you remove all weapons from your character in the Inventory screen, you get this really cheap good-for-nothing staff, because you know you can't have your character running around ... disarmed.
I'm guessing Marcus convinced Alexius to use time magic for him to go back and rewrite history?

Shortest fights in the history of the Dragon Age? Although, you might last longer than against a giant throwing a rock at your head. ![]()
