Will today my Lavllvan was told by Solas that everything she knew was a lie and that her markings were slave markings. Plus he broke up with her after he told her these things leaving her confused and heartbroken. She cried into Dorian's arms after the break up he is such a good BFF Gweln though. Soon aftwwards she had a talk with Morigan and discovered she knew away to stop Corynphus by summoning Mythal. So she went to do a couple of missions first hand like Banica's missions and also closed a few rifts before she headed over to the alters location. In which she actualy met the real Mythal and showed her respects to her and learns Morgian is her daughter.

Since I have no life, and have been playing Dragon Age all day today, I need a break from it. I have no family left (outlived them) and my friends are out of town or have family gatherings. These things happen when you get old. Christmas is a solo affair.

Part of the fault of why this is taking me so long to get through – I’m at 80 hours, and am barely into the main quest – is that I’m playing this game like I played Skyrim. I’m unlocking the different areas and I’ve been exploring them. I have something like 135 power right now.

There is still much to do in the Exalted Plains and Emerald Graves, but we went to the Western Approach. I found another skull on a post. It’s amazing how many of these I’ve found. The Tevinter have apparently been using Tranquil skulls to locate these shards scattered around Thedas, and it is imperative that we beat Tevinter to the spoils. I took my usual team of Cassandra, Solas, and Vivienne with me. Vivienne has started to pursue the Knight- Enchanter discipline, and Solas is pursuing the rift mage discipline. Cassandra is acting like a Templar. I’m still thinking about which discipline I wish to pursue: Assassin or Tempest. Time will tell.

During our travels we found a fort where time had stopped. Apparently the Venatori had been experimenting with the spell that the magister whom I executed used. This is very dangerous. They stopped time on a rift, freezing all within its influence. So I took the staff from which the power was emanating, and closed the rift.

Then we marched onward and found an old Grey Warden outpost. We had to take that back from the Venatori. They put up a good fight, but we prevailed, and now we have a Western Palace. The influence of the Inquisition is growing.

Nearby we met a researcher from Val Royeaux who is studying dragons. I think we’ll help him out by observing hunting patterns. This will be dangerous, but I think we can handle it. There is a dragon in the region. All we have to do is go to a few sites the researcher identified and take some samples without being killed by the dragon. I know how to do this. It should not be difficult. After we hand him the research, I would like to hunt this dragon. A nice suit of dragon scale armor would be fitting for The Inquisitor.

Similar boat different ocean. ;)

Just an add on question - can anyone tell me how to use Dagna? The only thing she has actually done for me is the rune to destroy Samson's armour. Is it that you get extra stuff on crafting armour and weapons simply because she's there, does she need special stuff? All I get from her is dialogue options. B)

Somehow, I missed all the halla statues that I collected at the Winter Palace on my current run that I managed to collect on my last run - or maybe the problem was that my favor with the nobles wasn't high enough. Honestly, I have zero idea what went wrong this time, but instead things going exactly the way that they did the first time around (when I magnificently showed Florianne up in the ballroom and exposed her crimes in front of everyone), I ended up in an exceedingly painful fight that I wasn't ready for.

I took Dorian instead of Solas for some giggles at the party, and ended up fighting Florianne instead of looking awesome in front of everyone at the party. I think I have to reload and redo some things (not that I'm sure what those things are - probably try to explore more again...).

Explored the Emerald Knights' tomb and gave the info about Red Crossing to the Dalish. Now they want to give a halla to the village but need my help. Not sure how I want to handle that. Poor halla being used for political gain. Found all of Vivienne's books, and also gave her the snowy wyvern heart. Why anything called "snowy" lives in a swamp instead of up in the mountains, I have no idea. Killed two more dragons....they were so pretty I felt really bad doing it. Until Gamordan Stormlord tried to electrocute me. Then it was ON. She lost but I still don't have enough scales to make new dragon armor. Arrrgh!!

Next up: will finally go to Emprise du Lion. Should be able to finish up all open companion quests there, after getting distracted about a hundred times first. <_<

Aaaaand yeah, after that earlier debacle at the Winter Palace, I reloaded a bit earlier and got my desired outcome, which was to have my mage show up Florianne with her incredibly sharp wit (seeing as the whole beating the crap out her with sharp pointy objects and sparkly magic thing wasn't going to happen... *cough*). Well...whatever works!!!

Grabbed lots of gooloot from demons in the Exalted Plains. Killed lots of black wolves chasing halla, so I also got some halla leather. Do Not want to do that in front of the dalish. :pinched: Trying to retrieve a shard from Villa Montelevan. Have not yet found the correct sequence of things to jump up yet, but I will. I WILL.

Sometimes I think this is BW's answer to Rorschach tests and they're gathering psychological data (paranoia, paranoia, everybody's coming to get me  ).

So I have now devised Lyell's backstory which isn't too different from Dorian's. His mother is not much more than a over-coiffed, over-perfumed presence. His father is more a part of his life. Lyell does everything he can to make his father proud of him and happy with him. Even to discussions of marriage and eligible ladies. This is all until, of course, is surprised with someone's son and heir. His father is gobsmacked and sends Lyell away to take care of some family business in Denerim.

Once that's done he finds an old man mage who wants to attend the conclave but is having difficulty getting there. Interested in the idea of the conclave and wishing to defer returning to Ostwick he obligingly helps the man to Haven. Thus he is at the Temple of Sacred Ashes at the wrong time.

After the hangover became just a minor nuisance Nang Fa decided to close the Breach:

Spoiler

After all that it was time for a nap, then she spoke to everyone at Skyhold, respecced Cassandra and Vivienne after unlocking their specializations (full Templar except upgrades for Cass, almost full KE without upgrades for Viv), leveled Dorian (full Necromancer except upgrades), unlocked the Tempest Specialization for Nang Fa, respecced (same as for the others, full without upgrades) and did some pranks with Sera around the castle. Heh.

I decided to hunt me some dragons in Emprise du Lion. Didn't go well.

Spoiler

We killed her eventually and were left with 0 healing items and with less than 50% of health each, but decided to hang out in the area some more. About 5 meters away we stumbled upon another dragon, went "NOPE" and returned home.

An update

Did all quests for Hinterlands, Fallow MIre and Empire Du Lion. I went to the Western Approach only to get the material needed to become Knight Enchanter.

I have not been to any of the other areas yet. I'm at level 20. I did not recruit Dorian, Cole and Blackwall the Fake. I still have to see about recruiting, maybe not, Iron Bull, Vivienne and Sera.

For the last few hours I've been crafting to make the best armor and weapon for myself.

I will give an update later about Elizabeth Nancy Trevelyan or at least the mortal who goes by that name. Hahaha

Cleared "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" with my qunari Inquisitor - it's kind of a save that I continue from time to time because I don't have much particular interest in it, just wanted to try the race out and see how IB romance is. Then continued with my elf, finished the warden quest and I really don't want to do another Haramshiral today so prolly just going to slay some dragons and endure it tomorrow. I need some dragon webbing anyway to craft a fancy red noble clothing haha

After taking the Grey Warden outpost in the Western Approach and hearing about Venatori in the Hissing Wastes, I sent a raven back to Skyhold to ask Cullen to send in the troops to open it for me, and to send Dorian my way as well. I need his expertise in dealing with them. I asked Vivienne to wait at the outpost since we'd be back. She thought her services would be better served at Skyhold in case Corypheus attacked. I could not argue with that logic.

The Hissing Wastes seem to be a waste. We did kill a few wyvern, but nothing really challenging, and I managed to get some wyvern scales which should prove handy in crafting some new armor. One cannot be too well prepared. Dorian helped track down the Venatori. They were searching through ancient Dwarven surface ruins. Apparently Dwarves used to make plenty of surface excursions in the distant past, and it's only been since the blights that things went "traditional". Eventually the trail led to the tomb, and we killed the Venatori leader. We opened the tomb and found the riches and everything for which Corypheus was looking.

I went back to Skyhold. Varric had been working on the next chapter of Swords and Shields as I had asked and had finished it. We delivered the book to Cassandra. She was totally embarrassed by it, but snatched the book out of Varric's hands. I think she really liked the surprise.

And apparently the word is out all around Skyhold about my involvement with Cullen, since Leiliana and Josie are teasing him about it in the War Room. I wish he could go with me and keep me warm on those cold nights in the desert. Still he might not be happy with my decision to keep the courtyard a triage place for the wounded and refugees. They have nowhere to go and the situation is only going to get worse. While I understand the practicalities of being at war, we need to provide for the people otherwise we're nothing. If we don't have the support of the people, the movement will fracture and Corypheus will gain momentum.

Then I took Dorian to Redcliffe to see this "agent" who turned out to be his father. His father turns out to have a problem with Dorian preferring the company of men. Dorian has proven himself to be a loyal companion and a friend in the time I've known him. His father turns out attempted a blood magic ritual to change his preference. Dorian was just getting more and more angry at his father. I suggested we take our leave. Dorian agreed. And now Mother Giselle and Dorian are arguing in the tower. *sigh* I don't thing Giselle was for the blood magic, but I don't think she understands what the Inquisition does with blood mages. His father is lucky I didn't take him to Skyhold and execute him for blood magic. After all, when they made me The Inquisitor, as the Herald of Andraste, a prophet of The Maker, I rule by divine right. And they call me "your Worship." But let them believe that. We need the support of the people and especially the support of the nobles to make this work.

Cassandra, Vivienne, Solas and I returned to the Western Approach to visit the researcher we'd met earlier. He seemed interested in observing the feeding patterns of a dragon in the area. We'd found the items, and I had the book translated for him. He gave us the bait and told us where to set it. The dragon arrived and Cassandra was eager to fight it. This was a good sign. It was a good fight, and we took down this dragon. It was a good thing I'd upgraded my armor before the fight, however. One thing I've learned in most fights is that the danger is in the front, not in the rear. That's what Cassandra is for: occupying their interest in the front. Good work Cassandra!

Then we returned to Skyhold. I heard about darkspawn in the Western Approach, and found that I can no longer cross the canyon because of the sulfurous fumes. I had Cullen build a bridge over it. I wonder, however, how many men we lost. I hope the mages were able to protect them with barriers.

I still have to figure out in which discipline I wish to specialize. The trainers have been at me about this. I'm torn between tempest and assassin. That assassin guy is just weird.

I'm back, Christmas is -- kinda, sorta, maybe -- over, and the inquisition awaits. Time to get gaming again. Crap, where did I leave off?

Oh yeah, opened a rift, killed a pride demon, closed a rift, passed out, woke up in Haven and scared the Maker out of an elf servant just by waking up. Wandered around Haven a bit -- can't explore much while people are lining the road and talking about me all the way to the chantry. Once there had a chat with Cassandra, Leliana and chancellor Roderick. He doesn't like me much, but both the right and left hands of the Divine bade him to shut up and get the ---- out, so he did. They then suggested I join their new club cause all the cool people were doing it. So I said, "Okay, what happens now?"

One day I'll learn not to ask dumb questions.

I was playing on my nightmare inquisitor with the aim of getting the nightmare achievement at the end. But today I hit a problem called the Envy Demon. I never realised how tough this boss is in nightmare mode. I have tried to defeat it the past few days and I hardly made a scratch to the health bar (no where near half). What was irritating was I had a balanced party of a rogue, two warriors and a mage and I still had no luck. The envy demon was probably only doing two moves and it slaughtered my party. The move where he jumps out of the ground was taking about 500 hp off at a time. I must have tried about 10 attempts.

So I reduced the difficulty down to normal and beat it easily. However, I am disappointed because the whole idea of this playthrough was for the nightmare achievement. Then I didn't know whether to restart a new character or not but I have invested about 17 hours with this character so I thought I might as well see it to the end.

In other news, I found my first wheel of cheese in the Hinterlands underneath a fade rift which was very random. I also got Vivienne to light some Veilfire and she didn't put it down when she was attacking so it looked as though she had a cool new staff. Still annoyed about the nightmare situation though. :)

After much toil and sweat (and fear the parts were duds) I finally got my new power supply and video card installed, updated, and working. My optimized settings went from low to ultra with the upgrade. Good news: DAI now appears to run on fast forward instead of slo-mo speed. Bad news: I've got green and red sparkles all over my display. Will try a different video card tomorrow to see if the same thing happens but for today I'm playing like crazy and enjoying getting things done in record time. Oh, and I was finally able to get into my quarters without falling through the floor. Who knew it would be turn out to be a graphics issue?

When I did my nightmare run, I to fought the demon as a mage. What I did was stay far from it and watch the ground everytime it went into the ground and popped out. I made sure to always have barriers for my companions and kept a close eye on their health. I had Cassandra. Blackwall and Iron Bull with me. It turned out to be an easier fight then I thought it would be. I ended up using only 4 health potions.

If you have a save before fighting the dempn, start from there again and try a different way to fight it

I am both impressed and in shock

I ended up using all 8 health potions, all my rock potions, all fire grenades and my rogue's jar of bees and I still didn't hardly made a dent. I was level 9 on Nightmare is that too low?. My last save on nightmare does exist but it was when I was level 4 so I probably won't fire this up again until a later date.

But you can be sure that I will come here to brag when I do it. :)
