Today, in the Inquisition... The gauntlet has been thrown down, the line has been drawn, and I have been tempted by the dark side (sort of).
For the time being I am setting aside the magequisition. Meghan, Solas and Vivienne and one of Sera/Varric/Cassie will have to cool their heels in the Gull and Lantern Tavern in Redcliffe, and ponder why One-Eyed Jimmy won't talk to them

... just for awhile.
Harold Trevelyan's Lonely Hearts Club Band's Magical Mystery Tour through the Frostback Basin is also on hold -- for awhile

-- while Varric sorts through his notes on the meeting between Harold and Svarah Sun-Hair.
I have begun a new journey in Thedas, and it's gonna be a
nightmare.
I present for your inspection Cirwen, a famous warrior of Clan Lavellan. I totally didn't get any screenies of her in the CC
because I forgot to turn on Bandicam reasons but there are a few from in-game below. Her clan lived primarily deep in the wilderness of the northern Free Marches, having almost no contact with anyone but other dalish, and even then usually only during gatherings. When the clan's Keeper learned of the Conclave at Haven it was decided that the far-reaching consequences of such a gatheriong could not be ignored. In the end their best and fiercest warrior was chosen to travel among the shemlen and learn what could be learned.
Cirwen will be a very elfy elf, having little patience for the dealings of outsiders, and very little caring for their gods and their politics and their problems. Thrust right into the middle of it therough no fault of her own, it will be interesting to see how closely she sticks to her elfy ideals. Sera is going to hate her
She is a sword-and-shield warrior, and I'm planning on Reaver spec. Also planning on Solas romance. They're both outsiders of a sort, and they're both superior to everyone else, at least in their own minds

, so they should be a good match. Role-playing a character like this in DA:I will be a new experience for me. No matter how I started with all my other inquisitors, they all ended up on friendly terms with everyone. Cirwen will be the sort of person who sacrifices the Chargers without hesitating. She would regret Dalish's death, though.
Gameplay wise I'm expecting all sorts of new challenges. I made it through ME3 insanity without throwing my keyboard through my monitor though, and I think it made me a better person

I'm hoping to always keep that in mind as I play out this run.
Cirwen awoke from a strange dream, in chains and with two angry shems questioning her about an explosion. She held her tongue through the questions and demanded to be set free. The dark-haired shem -- named Cassandra -- took her outside and showed her a giant hole in the sky that was spilling demons out of it. She then claimed Cirwen was responsible (maybe) and that she better try and close the thing. Cirwen wished she was back home. Not for the last time.
Cirwen's journey begins with passing through a big gate on the way to what was left of the Temple of Sacred Ashes. And first look at the hole in the sky as the shems run away.
The Breach pulsed and the anchor in Cirwen's hand pulsed with it, knocking her off her feet. Cassandra got her upright again, and stated the obvious, while the anchor glowed.
The unlikely partners came to a bridge just in time for some demons to fall on it and cause it to explode, dropping them to the frozen river below... where this guy was waiting for them.
Cassandra told Cirwen to stay out of her way and commenced with the slicing, but with a spare sword and shield nearby, Cirwen wasn't about to miss the fight.
And fight she did. Was doing well too against
my her first nightmare demon
Until Cassie stole all her aggro and they had to work together. Even though the demons were dead, Cassie was still spoiling for a fight.
But it was over. Cassie apparently has as difficult time showing gratitude as Cirwen does. Maybe they'll get along after all? Nah.
In the end she agreed to let Cirwen keep her weapons, and they continued to the Temple.
Cirwen thought that all in all, Nightmare wasn't so bad. But then she remembered...

So the nightmare journey begins. I'm excited about it. We'll see how long that lasts, heh. Likely until the first time I'm facing a templar with a shield and my sword just bounces off him

But... that french fry thief will not swipe one more delicious golden-brown potato slice from my plate!
Maker, this I vow.
