I'm up late tonight and you're going to read this because I'm up late. I'm exhausted. We had a pitched battle at Emprise de Lion. Those filthy communist Red Templars were dug in. They'd destroyed bridges that must have broken the backs of hundreds of slaves to build, because without the assistance of high magic those bridges would never have been built over such chasms. That was a lot of bridge to destroy. I think we can rebuild them, but it will take time.
But this red lyrium is spreading like a cancer across the land, and we found out that Samson is seeding it. We liberated the castle, and freed the prisoners. I killed the Red Templar lieutenant and found all of the red templar letters. However, there was one landmark I needed to make, and I was apparently standing right next to it but couldn't see it, and went onto the next part of the mission. Now my soldiers are complaining that we really didn't take the castle because the marker isn't radiating its magic.
So I ran around looking for it, and I couldn't find where we fought those giants and those red lyrium infected giants. They're dead. The place is cleaned out.
And I found out why it is taking me so damned long to finish this game. I think I spend half the time running around lost. I know for a fact that a man programmed this because there is no where to ask for directions. You'd think you could stop and ask someone, "Hey, you know where the Templars kept the giants they infected with the red lyrium? Can you tell me how to get there?"
"Sure, mate. Go back the way you came until you get to the first place you can make a left. The take it...."l
No. Nothing like that exists. In fact they don't put that in any game. Yet the residents should know how to get places. I think game designers do this on purpose to drive us crazy. One time I was playing Sim City and I had this one sim who kept complaining that there wasn't a bus stop near his house, so I put one right in front of his house. And zoomed in to watch. You know he left and walked three blocks to another bus stop, and complained there wasn't a bus stop near his house again. I bulldozed his house. It's good to be a god. If they're not going to put someone there to give directions, how about better maps. You know with details. Like they do with Skyrim. Not this mish mosh and what the hell am I doing over here?
But enough of that. I kept getting lost. I think I spent two hours being lost in Emprise de Lion. It all looks the same. Snow and Ice. I kept going around in circles. Then said F- it and went back to Skyhold. If the troops want the place bad enough they can take it themselves. I have a party to go to.
So I went to a party for Josie and finished the negotiations with an unpleasant noble who still thought she was my better even though I held her life in my hands. But we know about how politics work. Orlais. Where they wear masks. I need a bath after being in that place.
