I just realized  ... I promoted Korbin not too long ago. I need to get him leveled up, just in case.

Good day to you Mr. SporkFu. This is a courtesy post from you friends at Nightmare Incorporated. The board of directors and stockholders wanted to know when you will be continuing your nightmare playthrough.

The last few days have been very busy. Nearly 90 people completed their nightmare run and earned membership into the Nightmare club with all its rewards. Another 9 people earned additional 50 000 free airline miles for finishing their second nightmare run. And finally one individual earned a spot on the board of directors. This individual completed a solo nightmare run as a dual dagger rogue. That person even found a few ways for the company to run better. It caused our stock to up by 7.6%. That individual received a nice bonus for that.

This could happen to you. Everyone is cheering you on. If you find that you're having problems, you can call our number at 8-436-453-3378

Have a good day. From your friends at Nightmare Incorporated

I... er... I admit I'm starting to feel like I need to check the closets for people hiding in them with baseball bats  Or maybe get that annoying neighbour down the road to start my car for me in the mornings.... just in case. :P

J/K Mike. With news of the DLC, I was going to put the NM game on hold... temporarily I swear! ... to take Dofni through JoH and get her ready for Descent, but now that birefringent has added the news that Descent will scale to our level, I think I'll get back to Cirwen's game and try and get her ready for the deep roads instead. Gotta get to Skyhold right? :D

So I'm reading the last few chapters of The Stolen Throne and I just have to share this line.

And perhaps off in the Frostback Mountains, a Dragon lifted it's head in a shadowy cavern and heard the rebels' long roar, and it approved.

So DLC announcement is enough to tell me to get my butt moving and get Kyrrah through Jaws of Hakkon before it's released. Possible MP leak around an hour or so ago, and since it was all deleted fast... *ponders*

Anyways, finished all 5 mosaics :D

Also got all the shards

I'm out of things to do main game so off to Jaws of Hakkon :D

It should drop...

Spoiler

Yeah, I think it did, but I was hoping for something a little more....unique?

Haha! :D If you really must...

Yes! ....ahem...

*Grabby Hands*

Gimmegimmegimme.

Edit: Given this news I think I will pause Imtiyaz's playthrough and try to get Aidan through JoH before this drops. That way I'll have two high-level characters to run through it.

Ditto on the grabby hands! :D I watched the trailer during a break at work and couldn't wait to see it on my monitor at home at maximum size. Is it Tuesday yet??!

I just woke up and got out of bed and poured a coffee and ... now this

Are you kidding me?? Frikkin' ogres

Ogres

Oh I am so going back to the deep roads.

Thanks for posting this, birefringent. :D ... If anybody needs me, I ...uh... i'll be in my bunk.

You just got up at....half past noon?....my time, so that means one of 3 things:

1. You had a day off work B)

2. You work swing shift :)

3, You're a vampire

It's number 3, isn't it? :P

Now, as for the new DLC, I have NO idea which quizzy should get the honors of first run. I really lucked out with JoH by taking Olinar (elf KE) the first time through. This one kind of screams for a dwarf inqui the first time, which means Neralah, my SnS Champion who romanced Blackwall. However, she hasn't done JoH yet.

I have 3 who have finished JoH (Olinar, Jaega, Marcus) so they are all possibilities as well, but I am pretty sure a dwarf should go first. At least I have a few days to stew on it this time.

Who are you guys thinking of party-wise for this? I was writing out combos earlier and all but one ended up Blackwall/Varric/Dorian. Jaega would sub Bull for Varric since she's a rogue.

Now is it Tuesday??!

 ... Little of the first, little of the second. I do have the day off B) and I do work a weird shift: afternoon/evenings. It's kinda odd at times, but I can stay up late and sleep in, so not all bad :)

I'm not a vampire  ... unless I can substitute caffeine for blood

I have a knight-enchanter who has completed the game, plus JoH, so she's ready. My tempest archer (Harold) is in the middle of JoH so he's nearly there. Dofni and Kubrie haven't done JoH. I had planned on getting Dofni ready for the DLC but it turns out, as birefringent discovered, the DLC will be accessible anytime once you get to Skyhold, and the monsters will scale to your level (unlike JoH)... so I'm thinking I'll get back to my NM run and try and get Cirwen to Skyhold by next week.

Having said that I dunno if I want to play the first time through Descent on NM

Yeah, it's always better knowing what to expect when you're playing on a higher difficulty. Hopefully with the level scaling, once you get your specialization, taking on same level enemies won't be so bad.

JoH on NM for a first run was definitely a challenge though! (Bioware, pls no more 1-shot-kill-thru-full-barrier-and-health archers.)

I found JoH to be challenging enough on casual my first time through it. A lot of that was not knowing what to expect, like you say, but also, in the words of one James Vega, "I dunno the scientific measurement of a sh*tload, but that was a sh*tload of harvesters spiders." It was tough to get a break from them without fast traveling -- which I was loathe to do in such a pretty area as the Frostback Basin :D ...then of couse the Avvar were tough, and the demons were tougher than in the main game. I'm not complaining about any of it; I loved JoH, but I can't imagine my first run of it being on NM.

Yes, yes and yes! My first IQ is capped out after JoH. The cap must be raised. THE CAP MUST BE RAISED!

The Iron Bull and my Inquisitor are going through some rough times. My Inquisitor felt so bad for killing the sleeping dragon in Emprise du Lion that he decided to spare the last two. No more dragon killing.

Then he started Jaws of Hakkon, and took Bull with him, but Bull needed too much babysitting in order to stay alive while the others were doing fine, and I got tired. I wonder if this was his way of protesting against my Inquisitor's new dragon-protection policy.

So he swapped him for Cassandra, who is tougher and does well on her own.

Party is currently Cassandra, Cole and Dorian. We cleared all the rifts and checked the island. We're on Hard and doing great. It's been fun, but we had to prepare, got new gear and I'm using grenades like never before.

Before telling Bull to please go take a rest (and possibly to stop being angry at the dragon-protection policy), there were some fun moments, like Cole saying that Bull acts like he's in charge but my Inquisitor is the one actually in charge. Bull wasn't sure this should have been made public but my Inquisitor thought it was hot (he's never been shy).

Oh, and I LOVE, just LOVE the Avvar mages and how they see magic and spirits in general.

Kind of wish my Hawke and Anders would pay them a visit.

I loved the Deep Roads in DAO. Loved 'em. That whole stretch on Branka's trail was awesome, fighting darspawn and other assorted beasties for every inch of ground, meeting up with that company of Legionnaires and totally not impressing them until I forged a path ahead for them. It felt like an accomplishment, heh.

Are you having doubts? This is a no brainer. Nightmare all the way. Lead the charge. Would you really let a nightmare stop you from playing the dlc? hahaha.

I'll tell you what. When I get my ps4, you and I will play the dlc on nightmare. This will give you time to find the hard parts on lower difficulties so that when we play on nightmare, it won't be that bad.

Here's the rules.

1) We both play on nightmare when I'm able to

2) We both play the same class. I will let you decide which one

3} We use the same party. You pick a companion. I pick a companion. The other companion will be chosen by the folks who post on this thread

4) The winner is whoever finishes the dlc the fastest. You will have an advantage since most likely will have played the dlc a couple of times before I will.

5) We need to decide what level to do the dlc. Maybe play it at the lowest recommended level. Let me know your thoughts about that

6} The loser has to give a like to every post the winner makes. Of course you and I give each other likes so this reward might be a waste. Or do you have a suggestion on what the winner will receive from the loser?

I say this is a fair challenge. Will it be accepted?

My first foray through the Deep Roads in DAO was not very well planned out. I didn't have much of a party, hadn't discovered the joy of crafting 9 million health poultices of varying degrees to lug around all game long, and I'm pretty sure I missed out on a backpack or two. Also, I don't think I knew you could actually return to camp in between areas if you really want to. It took me forever and I probably destroyed as much loot as I ended up carrying out with me. And the final battle vs Branka was BRUTAL. I didn't have Shale installed yet either. Absolutely loved the creepy atmosphere though (just like the asteroid mine in ME3's Leviathan). The broodmother.....eh, not so much.

Tanith update:

I decided I should probably do a main quest to move the story along, so it's off to Halamshiral to play politics. I really didn't know what party to take until I was looking at the character selection screen. I had Solas (obvious choice since boyfriend) and Sera (because extra loot) selected, and then it clicked: who will annoy Orlesians more than 3 elves? A Tevinter mage. So Dorian filled slot #4 and here we are. Got past the intro's and initial running around to the point where it's time to  turn invisible and  climb the trellis to the upper level. Not sure what I want as the outcome this time....I might make them all work together again.

Well, I just watched The Descent DLC trailer and I'm surprised this is coming next week! That's awesome!

Hmm.. Who to take in this new adventure? Knight Enchanter Alessandra, DW Assassin Natalia or DW Tempest Julian... They're the three post main story and JoH Inquisitors. Still have to finish 2H Reaver Alessandra II and Rift Mage Demetria's runs.

Oh and one of my friends beta tested this DLC at Bioware. He won't give me details unfortunately... "You'll have to play it to find out," he says. Okaayyy fiiinnnee...

What a great idea! I like the suggestion of playing at the lowest recommended level and think it's the best way to keep us both even. Not to mention by playing it before the endgame, we'll have access to Solas as a companion if wanted. We'll know when the DLC is released what the recommended level is.

Same class, and one of the companions picked by our friends here, sounds fantastic. Once we decide on a class, and pick our one companion, we'll have a vote on who's left, and everyone can choose for us.

While I may have a slight advantage of having played the DLC before you, I think it's possible you'll have more available time to play it... unless we judge it by the time stamp on the savegame file at the end. There could be other ways to pick a winner too. I'm open to suggestions here.

How about the loser acknowledges the winner in their signature for... thirty days? sixty?

At any rate... challenge accepted :D

EDIT: Misunderstood the companion selection thingy. Oops.

Holy crap, Mel  I think we played the exact same game :P ... It's been awhile, but I definitely thought I couldn't go back to camp once I left Orzammar for the deep roads. Low on Health potions, choosing which gear to destroy. I had Shale installed but left her in the party camp <_< I liked the idea of the broodmother, hated the battle with the tentacles coming up out of the ground

I think i'm gonna be MIA for a while. My XBOX 360 gave me the ghost (red ring) repeatedly while I was in the Plains as Ullia today. I still like that "Need a hand" *laughs* joke from putting the waypoint marker near that hand statue. Sadly I didn't get anything funny from taking Blackwall, Sera and Vivianne.

I'll put up some pictures that I took semi recently but may be it until I get my 360 repaired. Bloody heat indoors.

Well, finally a new DLC. Trailer spoiler warning and all that if you care

Spoiler

Must say that this is a bit more interesting to me, never really cared about JoH.

Sweet! Darkspawn bashing! However i wonder if my inquistor or party member will become infected by the darkspawn. Traditionally if someone is injured by a darkspawn they'll get infected and will have to become a darkspawn unless taken to the wardens to become a warden. Say that would be kind of neat as a in time idea. Sera becoming a warden? Lol. Making Blackwall a real deal warden would be adoyish but i'll bite.

Down side is since it took me forever to get the DLC I doubt i'll get it when it's dated. ><. However as of right now it doesn't seem to matter anyway if my 360 is down.

DAMN YOU N2K VIRUS! Nah J/k. Rofl.

Technically I completed 2 NIGHTMARE runs (tryiing to do 3). I had Malioniss skip the DLC because the temple fight is rediculous so i took my fustration on Corypheus. He deserved every penny. Chasimess has yet to get that far. i still got some quests to do for it. Ullia just dinged 15 so i am 5 levels away from even trying it. Suggested level is 20 anyway. The portals are stupid there and some of my potions aren't even fully buffed and only got buffed to barely a teeny tiny bit.

Don't scare your neighbors now. Some of them could be members of Nightmare Incorporated. We are not here to pressure you to play. Its just some miss reading your adventures about your nightmare run. I will pass the message to them that you will continue some time in the future.

*tap tap tap* Keep it down there! I'm trying to watch "mages in DAI" where this qunari mage turns deer into BBQ ribs. It's a sight to see.

Nah. j/k. Lol.

So DLC announcement is enough to tell me to get my butt moving and get Kyrrah through Jaws of Hakkon before it's released. Possible MP leak around an hour or so ago, and since it was all deleted fast... *ponders*

I may in time but i'm so glued to my new inquisiters (Ullia Mint Tooth: qunari female mage, Vlah'Nu: female elf mage, Rubblocke Mortdecai: Male dwarf 2H warrior). I should show Chasimess some love again as well as Malaioniss for the JOH DLC.

Well down side is if they have the darkspawn be like how they are in the older games on higher difficulties they may be problematic no matter what level. Ogres could instant kill if they grab you (I am unsure if the SHIELD BASH rule would apply because it would break their grip), Alphas may be annoying for boosting weaker guys and if they bring back those beatle guys they would be a pain because they would cloak and assassinate.

I would like to chip in myself. But due to maybe getting the DLC maybe later than you two and my 360 being down I will have to pass.

I don't want to burst your bubble but the enemies in JoH do scale to your level. It's just that the lowest they go is 20 (or is it 21?). It's also available any time you're in Skyhold, so...

I know all this :D

Maybe I base what I post here on my own playing experience, and maybe I don't have all the facts regarding Descent yet... but if the lowest level the monsters reach in JoH is 20 or 21, and I have usually reached Skyhold somewhere around level 12, then I'm not gonna go to the Frostback Basin until I'm ready to go there. Where's the fun in that, right?

I haven't heard yet whether there is a minimum level cap for the monsters in Descent, but to me this ...

Mike Laidlaw posted a few tweets about the new DLC, some technical details people usually care about:

... would suggest a level cap is not the case...so if I get to Skyhold at level 12 and want to go to the deep roads first, I shouldn't worry that I'm not gonna have fun. :)
