Gorram motherf*cking Ice Giant! I keep killing it and it keeps not dying! It just stands around doing nothing.

I think I figured out what it was doing. It didn't die properly if I killed it when it was in the middle of one of its fancy ice attacks. That or I got lucky. I was about to try leaving the area and coming back but in the end I didn't have to...

I just purchased Jaws of Hakkon. I've decided to dive into the only expansion DLC last gen will have so I'm taking a break from my Qunari Necromancer to play it with my Human Artificer.

Here's the way I think it breaks down: You have several "level ranges" for enemies; 1-3, 4-7. 8-11, 12-15, 16-19 and 20-25 so far. They match the "recommended level" categories for opening the different areas at the war table.

If your Inquisitor is below the level range for an enemy when they are encountered they will be at the bottom of that range (for example 12 if it's a 12-15 enemy.) If your Inquisitor is in that range they will match it (perhaps with that boost you mention for lieutenant and boss enemies). and if your Inquisitor is past the top of the range they will be at the highest level, so 15 for that 12-15 enemy.

The majority of enemies in The Hinterlands are 4-7, but the enemies to the south-west (Bandits, Bears, Lyrium Smugglers, Darkspawn and Carta) are 8-11. I think the rift by the map exit that you mention is actually 8-11 too, and maybe you are mis-remembering. There are also three rifts that are 12-15.

Another example would be Emprise du Lion which is mostly 16-19 but the enemies and rifts on the far side of Judicael's Crossing are at 20-25 like those in JoH.

Finally of course you have the fixed level enemies which I think are just the High Dragons and that group of level 30 despair demons in JoH...

That frankly sounds very right. I guess I'm just on really good on thirlly explaining MMORPG rules or whatever I guess. Lol.

Heh.  Like I said, I never played Mass Effect!  I had no idea someone named a game after one of my favorite nerdy space things!!  I got about 45 minutes into it before I knew it was not for me.  LOL.

Nothing wrong with that. What would of been wrong is compairing MASS EFFECT to Halo. Lol. "I have been playing this game for four hours and this game is boring as hell! At least in Halo I get more action!" (actual quote I read on GAME FAQS).

Yeah, I think that's what triggers the problem. Same thing can happen with (JoH spoiler, you've been warned!)

Wasn't sure where to put this question- figure here is as good as any place. I'm maybe 90% thru a play through. Cleaning up the FrostBack Basin before I enter the final battle with Corypheus. Allowed Celene to be killed (Gaspard is Emperor), exiled the Grey Wardens. I am at Skyhold- I speak to Blackwall- he tells me I am a tyrant and my band are 'thugs'. He storms off. His card is now 'X' ed out. I never romanced him and I almost never had him on missions. Nor have I found many/any Grey Warden artifacts.

I've read online that his personal quest usually starts when you find a carved Griffon horse back by the stables- but I assume that is only for Inq's who romanced him. Long winded question- is he gone for good? If not- how do I kick off his personal quest?

Yep, he is. His personal quest (Revelations) only triggers at a certain approval level and after certain events have happened. It happens regardless of romance or not so long as the other conditions are met. If he was mad enough to leave, that means is approval was really low. Finding the artifacts with him in the party is the easiest way to raise his approval, if you are interested in doing so.

Ooh, I hate it when that happens! Hakkon was the guilty party for me, though.

Nice! Hope you enjoy it! :) Make sure you take the recommended level seriously. :P

Argh, that sucks! I've read that other AV programs will do that too. I had nothing but trouble with Norton when I used it years ago, so now I use AVG. About the only thing it does that I don't like is auto-update without asking me first. Whenever my pc starts to lag, the taskbar icon is the first place I look and sure enough, it's updating again! <_<

Catching up with you guys is going to take some time.  Yes, Norton is the antithesis of mental stability sometimes.  The part that drives me up a wall is that they're so jealous.  If you try to install one, and there's another one already there, both wind up blocking each other and it turns into a major headache.  Best bet - start with a completely empty system and only put in what you want.  Try not to pay money for security, and here's why:  if you buy a system (like when it comes pre-installed,) the software company wants exclusive rights to your business and has written in a few lines of code to recognize and block competition.  If you put in something free, like AVG (not premium,) they've got no claim on your business yet, so they'll still bend over backwards for you to get it.  The devil is that even if you uninstall Norton, the registry keys are still there.  If you plan ahead and remove the registry keys, there are a few lines of the install program that put them back, so it's a losing battle.  Best bet - wipe the hard drive, then reinstall the OS and whatever programs you really want.  Don't let Norton or MacAffee near you again.

On to DA stuff, I had my son watching my cat while I camped (it was great, like getting to run away and join the circus for a long weekend,) and I invited him to play DA on my system while I was gone.  He came up with a dwarf archer.  I'm so proud!  That's my boy!

I hate the fact that we have to do this. It can maybe be explained for a mage who forgot to pack, or ran out of, ingredients for X spell, but how does a warrior forget X move today but remember it tomorrow?

Good point about the warrior.

Morrigan: We'll head straight for the Well of Sorrows. You catch up with us there. If Samson falls, fine. If not, the sword.
Inquisitor: I'm going to duel him without Payback Strike.
Morrigan: You know what a hurry we're in!
Inquisitor: Well, it is only way I can be satisfied. If I use Payback Strike... over too quickly.
Morrigan: Oh, have it your way.

[later, Inquisitor and Samson are engaged in a sword fight]

Inquisitor: You are using Untouchable Defense against me, ah?
Samson: I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
Inquisitor: Naturally, you must expect me to attack with Payback Strike?
Samson: Naturally. But I find that Unbowed cancels out Payback Strike, don't you?
Inqusitor: Unless the enemy has studied his Shield Bash... which I have!

Dwarf Archer , eh? Nice. he'll be able to go through 'Descent' with a dwarf inquisitor. :D ... I was hoping to have taken Dofni (my own dwarf inquisitor) through JoH by next week but it doesn't look like that will happen. I'll just have to go through Descent without all those nice items and crafting materials. Sigh.

Oh, the red templars did that to me in the Emprise doing Red Captors.  I killed them from a bridge where they weren't supposed to be targeted from, but when they died, they just winked out, as if they'd never been there.  The lightning that did it was visible, and Nukem had all the KE buffs she'd built from combat, but no dead bodies, and more specifically, no loot.  I got teleported back to where I was before the bridge, and when I walked around and killed them properly, they died properly too.  The good part was that the loot from the first ones appeared too and I got double loots that day.

I just did a Contact Hero of Ferelden war table operation and realised I created the most idiotic world state: my favourite and nice Hawke and warden is Alistair, who was in romance with the Hero...

Now I really don't want to proceed with Here Lies the Abyss:crying:

I feel your pain.  I haven't yet been able to create a world state where Alistair remained a warden.  I've tried.  I picked my most offensive Hawke, but then sat there wondering if I wanted to see what that Hawke's world looked like.  Right.  It's probably essentially the same as this one, with just a different cameo or line of dialogue or two.  I would be able to hear Fiona tell about him though, since he wouldn't be king.  Hmmmmm......

Oh, yeah, the reason I came here.  I got some pretty good pictures in the Wastes yesterday.

Doing Sand and Ruin, I remembered to watch out for desire demon statues, and found 2.  The cool part is with the 2nd statue, there's one of those Venatori victims next to her like in the ones in the Emprise.  Maybe they would have carved a victim next to the 1st one too if the column next to it had been big enough.  They're on opposite sides of a short tunnel and clearing, and there's combat and weaving around walls in between, so it's easy to think you're just seeing the same one twice, but the details are a little different and there's the missing victim.  Check it out - I even remembered to take screens of the map for both.

Spoiler

This cracks me up.  It always amazes me how common rare stuff is.

Spoiler

We closed a fade rift or 2 on the way, and this one caught my eye.  I never noticed how cool it looks when Bull activates ring of pain, so I sat around snapping screens instead of fighting for a few minutes.

Spoiler

This is just a neat looking stump.

It was my only luck that I decided to save the mages in this playthrough. (I'm usually more attracted to the templars) But Fiona just asked if the warden, who came to Skyhold is Alistair and said it's pointless to meet him now. Maybe if I kill him, I'll get some reaction from her?

I've been replaying my first Inquisitor in preparation for the latest DLCs. Now that I have WiFi reaching into my room I don't have to play in the humid living room with the nice HD TV and stereo speakers...huh.

Anyway, I've been going nuts over why I keep getting a particular fade-touched material. The game must know my Inquisitor is a rogue because I've been enjoying the Hidden Blades move lately. But getting six of them is a record or a glitch. I made a battlemaster coat with that stuff for the Iron Bull because I think he needs it. I wish I had the fade-touch material that gains additional guard instead but that's how the dice rolls.

Anyway, I've gotten smarter on prepping my teams for dragon battles. The electrical dragon near the Storm Coast is still a pain, but at least I didn't end up just using Vivienne as the last player standing. The ice dragons at Emprice du Lion should be easier because I've also been gathering lots of strong frost protection material.
